    Winter Serenity

My entry for the LEGO House Rebrick contest. Upon seeing the categories, I knew I wanted to create a landscape – the question was, what kind? After much deliberation, (and even a couple of failed starts), I decided on doing a serene winter forest. I tried to create a deep, fluffy feeling for the snow, which I think ended up working very well. The icy trees are something I’ve wanted to try for a while now too – let me know what you think of them! Credit for the idea of using light yellow in the path goes to Mark Erickson, and his Northward Bound build. Inspiration for the fox design goes to Markus, to Balbo for the squirrel design, and Dathil for the deer head. More pictures on Brickbuilt. Thanks for looking, C&C welcome
  2. This is my first moc entry in Nar Eurbrikka so if I do this wrong can someone let me know? Thanks! Marching orders: With my 3 moves We are going 1 Left and 2 down to D22. As a group of troops were sent out to receive supply's from a nearby drop ship, the odd one out gets stuck with the work. Troop discrimination is something that the empire is struggling with at the moment and the emperor is giving monthly lectures on the topic and...look this months guest speaker is Darth Vader himself (He knows a lot about discrimination, specifically age discrimination)

    Steinn Fortress

Micro castles are always something I enjoy building, and this one was especially fun due to being set in the winter. I incorporated quite a few technic parts into the castle itself and was really pleased with how well they fit in. One of Mitgardia's stronger citadels, Steinn Fortress is built into Mount Mitgard and features many soaring towers. Even during the Algus invasion, Steinn Fortress wasn't breached. More images on brickbuilt. Thanks for looking, comments and criticism always welcome
  4. I don't know...it just doesn't look right. This is my first base-plate diorama. I need some advice on techniques or tricks on how I can make it look more "Professional" Any advice would be great. Thanks :) DSC_1267 by Movie Mocs, on Flickr DSC_1269 by Movie Mocs, on Flickr DSC_1270 by Movie Mocs, on Flickr DSC_1272 by Movie Mocs, on Flickr

    Winter Outing

Just a quick 30 minute LUG speed-build that I liked enough to take pictures of and post. One of the main things I wanted to try with this build was the transition from tan to dark tan on the edges of the path, to give the impression of slush. A Mitgardian trapper goes for a walk in the early morning, after a freshly fallen snow. More pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome
  6. My phase 2 windmill, this is another build influenced by Skyrim, the windmill is based off of the typical windmills seen in game. I also tried to replicate the tundra look that is common in many regions of Skyrim. This was also my entry to the 2017 Brickstory contest, for the Early Middle Age category. The model features working windmill blades and grindstone, both simultaneously operated by a crank on the back of the windmill. Previous story installments: 1st, 2nd, 3rd, 4th. Glorfindel and Dedan visit the windmill in Holt to speak with Jarl Arfast. "Welcome, Sir Glorfindel! I'm glad you were willing to meet me here, harvest time sees me at the windmill more often than my hall." "Greetings Jarl, it's nice to have a meeting outside for once. This is my friend, Dedan the hunter." "Good day, hunter Dedan," replied Arfast, "I imagine you two have come with warnings of the conflict in Nocturnus? I can assure you all our warriors have been keeping a watchful eye on our borders and will continue to do so. Though our numbers are limited after the Algus war," he continued sadly. "Yes, that conflict has weakened our forces considerably. I may have some encouraging news though, as I've recently returned from Valholl, and some of the centrally located towns and villages have agreed to send some of their own troops to help reinforce our borders. The troops will be allotted to various villages who are deemed to have special need. And the soldiers will be placed directly under the jarls and lords command." "That is good news! Particularly during this season when our men are so busy preparing for the coming winter months. Thank you Glorfindel." "You are most welcome, Mitgardia must stand together to survive. Now Dedan and I must be off to Firoir on a pressing matter. So good day, Jarl." Check out more pictures here. C&C welcome
  7. Built for category A of Challenge V, for the Alliance side. The path design was inspired by Thorsten Bonsch’s Orsinium. It was fun experimenting with the path here, albeit time consuming. A messenger gallops through the lands of Kaliphlin, spreading the word of the return of the true king of Historica! Perhaps 'gallops' is a poor choice of words though, as the camel seems content with a slow walk, much to the messenger's distress. More pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome
  8. Here's my build for the second Gatehouse phase. I used a similar ground texture to what I did in my previous build, “Start of a Journey,” and tried a different stone wall design for the gatehouse. The warrior returns to Nordheim’s welcoming gate after a long journey through the clan lands of Mitgardia. More pictures are available on my website: link Thanks for looking!

    The Road to Midgardia

(Please note, this is a story focused on two of Aeldric's new rangers, and takes place after Aeldric finds Dar Askelohn and is made captain of the rangers of Albion) Next Chapter: Coming Soon Genic (The Human in the brown hood) and Cathras (The Redhead Elf) had just been recruited by Aeldric and assigned a task to head north to Mitgardia to investigate the potential threat of the Algus. On their way, they passed a small ranger set-up. A small bit of scaffolding was strewn about, most likely for higher positions and better points of view on the roads. Aeldric had issued for several of these camps to be dotted across the roads of Avalonia for the denizen's safety. Aeldric had also begun to recruit many races, other than originally human. From elves, to even dwarves. Though, Aeldric was cautious about which dwarves he recruited, as some of them can be a bit to friendly... Without figs: Back of the scaffolding: --- Anyways, let me know what you think! C & C welcome, and remember, this story takes places after Aeldric has found Dar Askelohn, and is named captain of the rangers of Albion.

    An Icy Attack

I tried a new rockwork technique (for me anyways), that uses technic bricks and pins to tilt each column of rock. And I did a hinging wall again, for the first time in a while, on the tower. It had been another uneventful morning for the two guards stationed at the Noror Watchtower, besides an unusually cold wind, everything seemed normal. The guards were on edge however, for there were many rumours of strange happenings in the north of Mitgardia. It was Kapp, the archer, who first noticed a group of figures approaching the tower. "Look there," Kapp said, "can you see if they're friends or foes?" "They seem to blend into the snow, but they could be clansmen on their way to the village," Svigi replied. As the group advanced toward the tower, it quickly became apparent that they were not clansmen. The odd figures were clad in white, and there seemed something unnerving about them. Kapp and Svigi readied their weapons, and eyed the oncoming band with apprehension. When they were within earshot, Svigi called out: "Halt in the name of Mitgardia! What is your business in these lands?" They offered no reply but kept on towards the tower, Kapp fired a warning arrow in front of the group, but they paid no attention to it, and continued their relentless march towards the tower. By now the two guards were quite sure the menacing squad meant only harm, so Kapp and Svigi prepared to hold the tower. But instead of storming the tower door, one of the party lowered his strange looking axe toward the tower and began making odd noises. The Mitgardians looked on in disbelief as what seemed to be a stream of ice began flowing toward the tower and then surrounding the walls. Kapp realized in a moment that the spectre meant to trap them inside the tower, and quickly headed for the door, calling to Svigi to do the same. They burst outside, knowing only too well that they had no chance of overpowering these new enemies, but determined to give their all defending Mitgardia. More pictures: link C&C welcome
  11. This vignette was built by my 12 year old brother. Kendrick and Basil are traveling with the soldiers they met alongside the stream. The soldiers are on their way to a famous dwarven blacksmith where they will buy weapons and armor to fight the dragon with. He would appreciate any C&C
  12. Hey all! This is my first Castle - themed MOC. I have always enjoyed this theme, as some of my first sets as a kid were Castle sets. After seeing many great MOCs and scenes from builders here, I thought I'd have a go at one. I decided to do a forestmen type creation, as they have always been a favorite LEGO faction to me. Anyway, here it is. This is the overall scene, built on a 32 x 32 base. And that's it . Thanks for viewing, and as always, C&C welcome. EDIT: More photos and full set on Flickr
  13. My younger brother, age 11, started making a series of builds about a young man Kendrick, and his goat Basil. Here Kendrick is fishing off a bridge and has just caught something: More pics here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=525410 After catching a fish, Kendrick and Basil walk home: More pics here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=526147 He would appreciate any comments/criticism
