  1. It’s that time of year again: time for Oktoberfest! The annual BoBS Oktoberfest celebration features food and drink, contests of skill, games and amusements, traditional/historical costumes, food and drink (did we mention food and drink?), and more! The Oktoberfest celebration again takes place in the Eslandolan settlement of Punto Sur on Maldria in the New Haven Sea. The settlement has grown from a frontier outpost to one of the largest towns in the New Haven Sea, bustling with denizens from all the factions of the Brick Seas. As you can tell from Punto Sur’s original trading post (and the cast of characters pictured above), the town has a Classic Pirates aesthetic. As such, all entries should have a Classic Pirates vibe of some sort, and appear fitting with a Classic Pirates port town, either in traditional 1989 form or updated for 2022 style and techniques. Rules: Your entry should show an Oktoberfest activity in Punto Sur appropriate for the island setting. Show residents and/or visitors preparing for or taking part in the festivities. Entries must be licensable properties. Players may submit as many entries as they want, but may only win one prize per category. In addition to posting your entry in the forum (ideally with a [OKT] tag in the title), please post a link to your build in this thread and in the Punto Sur settlement thread. Entries must be posted by October 31. Categories: This year prizes will be awarded for all non-military property types: Artisan, Commerce, Factories, Residence, Art/Culture, Education, Plantations, and Mines (it is rumored that an ancient civilization once worked numerous rich gold mines on this island and that these mines could be reactivated with minimal effort). Identify what category you’re entering when you post your entry. Entries will be judged on presentation, quality of build, story, fit with Punto Sur’s architectural style (Classic Pirate, both retro and modern), and fit with the Oktoberfest/festival theme. The only size requirement is a 16x16 minimum. Additionally, anyone interested in building a military property should contact Capt Wolf by PM for special consideration. Prizes: The top entry in each category will win a free small property license, to be activated by microbuild. The top three entries in each category will win 75, 50, or 25 DBs (for 1st/2nd/3rd place). There will also be an additional prize for best non-brewery factory entry. A grand prize winner and runner-up for Best of the Oktoberfest will have their free license upgraded to a large and medium, respectively. Builders will also be reimbursed for licensing costs for any property licensed through the EGS, or Capt Wolf will purchase (at 2x the license cost) any property a builder does not wish to license.

Categories: There are three categories this year: Factories, Commerce, and All Other property types (Artisan, Residence, Education, and Culture properties combined). Examples of factories include mills, breweries, bakeries, and other food processing facilities; examples of commerce properties include warehouses, merchant offices, banks, and lighthouses. Identify what category you’re entering when you post your entry. Entries will be judged on presentation, quality of build, story, fit with Punto Sur’s architectural style (Classic Pirate, both retro and modern), and fit with the Oktoberfest/festival theme. 3. Willem Guilder made his way into the darkened Council Hall. Lighting a candle, he walked up to the Admius Legistrad’s desk at the front of the room. Peering into the darkened hall, he heard a small noise in the distance. “Is anybody there?” Guilder asked. But there was no reply. It was likely just a mouse. For four years he led the Colonial Council from this desk. Now the streets were filled with rabble-rousers supporting Count Lewisham or cheering the return of King Fernando. And the Council Hall was empty. Eslandians had taken their freedom for granted; apathy (and greed) allowed the corrupt Count Lewisham to gain control of the Council. Lewisham was so despised, citizens now cheered King Fernando simply for standing up to Lewisham, something they could have done for themselves. “Does anybody care?” thought Guilder. Does anybody care that the establishment of the Colonial Council saved all Eslandians from the whims of the tyrant Fernando, who nearly got them into a war with Oleon over perceived slights that only a nightcap-throwing child could see. Does anybody care to take on Count Lewisham? Guilder had served Eslandola his entire life. Governor of An Holli. Director of the Merchant’s Colonial Trading Company. Member of the Continental Council. Charter member of the Colonial Council. When he stepped away from public life, he thought all was in good order. But nobody cared to stand up to Lewisham’s corruption. “Is anybody there?” he asked himself. “Does anybody care?” He reflected on how much good the Colonial Council had brought to Eslandians and the trade companies. “Does anybody see what I see?” he thought, as his mind wandered … They want me to quit They say, "Willem, give up the fight." Still, to Fernando, I say: "Good night, forever good night!" For I have crossed the Rubicon Let the bridge be burned behind me! Come what may, come what may For the Council! Lewisham’s lackies all say That we'll rue the day But we’ll make the Count pay Hang him by his toes! Through all the gloom I can see the rays Of ravishing light And glory! Is anybody there?! Does anybody care?! Does anybody see what I see?! I see fireworks! I see the pageant and pomp and parade I hear the bells ringing out I hear the cannons roar I see Eslandians All Eslandans Free forevermore! Suddenly aware of his surroundings again, Guilder looked around the room. How quiet How quiet the chamber is How silent How silent the chamber is Is anybody there? Does anybody care? Does anybody see what I see? *With apologies to Sherman Edwards, writer of the musical 1776. --- I decided to try my hand again at a darkened scene. Here's the full build in normal light: If not readily apparent, this build is in support of the Council! All C&C welcome.
  4. A glimpse of the future, once King Fernando has returned: Let's bathe again.... ... like we bathed last summer. Come on, let's bathe again, like we did last year. Do you remember when things were really hummin'? Come on let's bathe again, bathin' time is here! Challenge entry for King Fernando!
  5. "Nothing matches experience", says Colonel (Long Tall) Sully when he speaks about his Monomonto Arkebusier-platoon. His battle-hardened soldiers have long years of experience with their sophisticated weapons. Some say his men are old and forget to put on their boots in the morning, but, as Sully puts it "those critics are just envious".
  6. Another unit under the Lotii flag was the 37th Long Pike Regiment, also known as "The Happy Bunch". Trained and led by their noble Captain ShooShooShoo - and aided by their famous Boom-Cannon - they were a force to be reckoned with. ShooShooShoo, being a nobleman, was enabled and destined by birth to lead his men into an early death battle. When it rained, his men occasionally cheered up while he did not.

As such, all entries should have a Classic Pirates vibe of some sort, and appear fitting with a Classic Pirates port town, either in traditional 1989 form or updated for 2021 style and techniques. This year also poses a question: Where do all those partying minifigs live? We always see the visiting sailors who are ready for shore leave, but what about the locals -- the merchants and craftsmen and dock hands and fishermen? Do they live in rustic rural homes, colorful urban row houses, sprawling tropical villas, or something else? Rules: Your entry should show an Oktoberfest activity in Punto Sur, with an emphasis on the permanent residents of such a growing colonial outpost. Show residents taking part in the festivities while making a new home for themselves in the islands. Entries must be licensable properties. Players may submit as many entries as they want, but may only win one prize per category. In addition to posting your entry in the forum (ideally with a [OKT] tag in the title), please post a link to your build in this thread and in the Punto Sur settlement thread. 8. It's that time of year again: time to pay a visit to the Weelond Oktoberfest! Weelond’s annual Oktoberfest celebration features food and drink, contests of skill, games and amusements, traditional/historical costumes, food and drink (did we mention food and drink?), and more. So regardless of where you’re from, come to Weelond and have some fun! Rules: Your entry should showcase an activity at the Weelond Oktoberfest, and this year's emphasis is on characters and stories. Introduce us to an interesting character at the Oktoberfest or the story of your character taking part in the festivities. Sample activities at this year's Oktoberfest include keg tapping, keg tossing, stein hoisting, pretzel and sausage eating, log sawing, musket shooting, equestrian competition, musical bands, dancing, arts and crafts, pumpkin painting, and costume contests, as well as the usual assortment of butchers and brewers selling their wares. In addition to posting your entry in the forum (ideally with a [W-OKT] tag in the title), please post a link to your build in this thread and in the Weelond settlement thread. Entries must be posted by October 28. Categories: Categories are Characters, Stories, Events, and Structures. Identify what category you're entering when you post your entry. Category definitions are loose; just pick what makes sense for your build. Entries will be judged on presentation, quality of build, story, fit with Weelond's architectural style, and fit with the Oktoberfest/festival theme. The only size requirement is an 8x8 minimum. Prizes: The top three entries in each category will earn 100DBs for 1st place, 50DBs for 2nd, and 25DBs for 3rd. An additional 100/50/25 DBs will be awarded to the overall best three entries. Weelond will also reimburse the builder for licensing costs for any property entry licensed through the EGS. Weelond also offers to purchase (at 3x the license cost) any licensable property a builder does not wish to license.
  9. Avalonia Mini-Challenge - Game of Thrones An Elfin Claimant A travelling minstrel lightly touches the chords of his lyre, addressing the passers-by. Hear ya! Hear ya! Yes, my Ladies, my Lords! Please approach! Your favourite troubadour's daily story is about to begin! This evening, my Ladies, my Lords, we have a special one! I will tell you the story of a clan of half-elves! Aren't you curious? Please approach, my dear guests and take your seat! The story is about to begin... In the heart of Avalonia, in the fertile plains covered with lush forests, where scents of flowers fill up the nostrils while the fresh morning breeze competes with the warmth of the early sunbeams teasing the skin, lived once a clan of half-elves. Yes, you've heard it well, my Ladies, my Lords: a clan of half-elves! Unlike the majority of their kin – usually loners, indeed – this particular group was one of a kind! ... The history of the clan goes back for generations and fades into myth... The narration of the forefather's deeds... How did he meet his wife? How did they start the family? And where does that filosophy come from, my Ladies? They refused the idea of 'not-being-human-while-also-not-being-elves', my Lords! Yes! They made a point of having taken the best traits from both! Oh yes! An improvement! An enhancement! True half-elvish pride, it was! Even their architecture, an interesting mixture of both! ... Ha! I can hear your whispers, my Ladies! My Lords! Your incredulous look, I can spot! But believe! The story is true! And hear, there is much more to come! The family thrived, among pointy ears and beards. They stuck with one another and set up many businesses - they spread their belief, the friends they made! Yes, friends, and allies too, my Ladies! For they did not fall prey of the pride, of the arrogance, they did not, my Lords! They fed the needy and helped the poor, they fought the unfairness, they did it just so, the words were equality and justice for all! Yes, my Ladies, on your face I can see, my Lords, even you! You start to recall this story after all! You heard it before, I warned it was true! The family existed and now exists even more! They grew their numbers, their riches, the reputation they got! They made friends everywhere, did ya' know? The elves to the West, the orcs to the East, the dwarves in the North... they have ships full of southern oil setting sail to long-forgotten islands... ! ... They got themselves some enemies, oh sure they did, my Lord... That one at the bottom, yes, I can hear your voice... They got called promiscuous, mixed, heterogeneous... 'mixed-use' even! The elves of Hesperia, some high circles in Albion, in Cedrica...Yes, yes... That Lord there is right, many use the word with 'B', if you'll excuse your minstrel, my Ladies, my Lords! Yes... some even created the word 'half-dwarves'... A shocked chorus among the crowd. Let us not forget our story, my Ladies! My Lords! That is certainly true, that is how they advanced... and now a throne is empty and the land swarms with claimants! Everyone wants one of them on that throne! Yes, my Ladies, a King! And, my Lords, there's a Queen! They're elfin indeed, they're symbol of hope! Unity, warranty against racial wars! Let us be at peace and prosper and merge; cooperation is the future, let us welcome the exchange! You have to consider, they have lots of support – don't miss out, my guests, be part of the best! The story is now over, yet everyone knows, there's a claimant who's worth it for each of us all! Let us just unite and abandon the swords! For peace! For equality! My Ladies... my Lords! The crowd shouts its approval. In a sudden cloud of smoke, the minstrel disappears. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Right on time! I had this idea of 'half-elven' architecture and wanted to try it out. That bloody rounded roof with tiles requires a lot of attention, but I do like the look. This is the first time I go for a vignette - trying to get as much information as possible in a limited space was a nice challenge. I also wasn't too sure how to alternate it to the story, being only one pic. As for the story itself, I guess it might be a bit confusing not seeing any minstrel in the pic? I wanted to try that format though, just to add variety. I actually wanted the whole thing to rhyme and to have the same amount of syllables for every sentence (like the last part), but realised quickly that was a bit too much for my skills, so I left it kind of half-and-half C&C most welcome as usual, thanks for reading! A photography note @Basiliscus P.S. Not sure why, but I have my comments aligned right (in the preview as well), yet when I post/edit they get moved to the centre like the rest of the post. If anyone has an idea why and/or how to avoid this, it'd be cool
  10. We are in the back garden of Lord Trian Burress, in Mesodraconem. His guests are special, cause one of them is the king, and the other is his successor. They already told the lord of his beautiful garden, their journey together to here. And about Artorius' choice. - Then this is official! - said Artorius. - Let's not waste more time, Trian, my old friend. could you fetch a sword for me, during that time, I will write the document about his enthronement. Trian shorty arrived with an ornamental sword. The document was ready, his name was also on the paper, as the witness. - Beautiful sword, you chose well Trian. - took the sword from Trian, and take a look at it. - Now Ardo Ungar, son of... - Belarn Ungar... - completed the sentence Ardo. Artorius smiled and started again: - Ardo Ungar, son of Belarn, willing to take the Oath? - I am willing. - answered Ardo, and kneeled down. -Will you solemnly promise and swear to govern the Peoples of Avalonia? From the Enchanted Forest to the Green Plains of Albion? - asked Artorius. - I solemnly promise so to do. - came the answer from Ardo. - Will you to your power cause Law and Justice, in Mercy, to be executed in all your judgments? - I will. - Then, as ruler of Avalonia, I Artorius Rex resign from the Dragon Throne, so you can take up the mantle of the kings, Ardo Ungar, son of Belarn Ungar. To end the ceremony, Artorius raised the ornamental sword, or at least he tried, but he was too weak for this last action. - Let me help you, "old friend" - stood next to him Trian, and helped Artorius raise the sword. Then, they touched Ardo's shoulder with it, together, while Artorius ended the ceremony: - Rise Sir Ardo! Rise and take the name: King Ardo of Avalonia, first with this name! - lowered the sword Artorius, and took a deep sigh. - Long live for the King! - shouted Trian Burress too. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- A close up from the ceremony, and a little extra picture. Also, click here, if you missed the story, how they find Artorius Rex!

  13. Fir trees do not grow in Nellisa. It is very expensive to import fir trees and every citizen wants one for their Merrynight celebration. Some entrepeneurs of ill repute have an idea. They noticed weeds grow plentifully in Nellisa. Why not make fir trees out of them? They created a tree farm to get rich. The fake fir trees smell great and are the high point of Merrynight celebrations. The axes are false marketing. You do not get to cut down your own tree at the farm. It is best not to operate sharp implements in the presence of that much weed.
  14. The King’s Demise – Eslandola Mini-Challenge! On the 3rd of November, 616, King Fernando Augusto VIII put his hand to the ground breaking Magna Charta of Eslandola! This Magna Charta guarantees each citizen his rights, and also provides for the restructuring of the Eslandian government in accord with the will of the people. The signing took place, amid much acclaim, outside of Terreli's Council of Trade headquarters. As to how the King was induced to sign, well, that will be revealed shortly! Many Eslandians are wondering how the King takes this change. Is he not sorry, after all, to have the burden of government removed from his shoulders – since he keeps the title, and the palace too? Or is he fuming with rage, throwing one nightcap after another at his unfortunate servitors? What about Eslandola’s Trade Companies? Are they pleased with the decision to restructure the government, or were they hoping it would just be turned over to them, no questions asked? More importantly, what about you? What’s your reaction to this Magna Charta? Are you glad, sorry, excited, or bored stiff? Show us! Category I: King Fernando’s Reaction Let us know what King Fernando is doing about this! Is he moping over his breakfast in bed? Or is he dancing on the balcony? You tell us! Maximum size is 8x8, with limited overhang. Open to all BoBS members. You are not required to show the King in your build, but it is recommended. Get creative though – he can be hiding under the bed covers, with only a nightcap sticking out! Your build must include at least one brick in three out of these four colors: olive green, orange, dark red, and purple. LDD builds are permitted but will not be eligible for physical prizes. Due to the size of this category and its location in the Old World, these MOCs cannot be licensed. Deadline: November 30th. Prize: #41577 Mysto Garmadon and Kai NRG reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Category II: The Trade Companies’ Reactions Show us what sort of reaction your Trade Company has to the current state of affairs. Are you plotting in secret, or throwing a magnificent celebration? If you don’t belong to a TC, get together with a group of in-character friends for your entry. Maximum size 256 studs (16x16) in any orientation, with limited overhang. Open to Eslandola’s members only. LDD builds are permitted but will not be eligible for physical prizes. Builds in this category may be licensed if they comply with the EGS rules. Deadline: November 30th. Prize: #70599 Cole’s Dragon Garmadon and Kai NRG reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Category III: Your Sigfig's Reaction What do you think about the latest developments? Did it hit you like a bucket of cold water on a cold day? Or was it like a bucket of cold water on a hot day? Here’s your chance to let the world know! Spread the joy with a round of parties, or work off your anger fighting Mardierians! Are you rushing for Nova Terreli to discuss the nation's future, or are you going to take a vacation to Weelond where you can just chill out after the political stress of the last few months? Build it! Maximum size 1024 studs (32x32) in any orientation, with minimal overhang. Open to any BoBS member. LDD builds are permitted but will not be eligible for physical prizes. Builds in this category may be licensed if they comply with the EGS rules. Deadline: November 30th. Prize: #70601 Sky Shark Garmadon and Kai NRG reserve the right to substitute prizes of equal or greater value. Garmadon and I will soon be setting up a discussion thread for Eslandian members to chime in with their ideas and suggestions as to the revamping of the political structure of New Eslandola! Happy building!
  15. Well, as everyone knows, the King of Eslandola, Fernando Augusto VIII, has recently decided that it might be a good idea to sign away his power in the Eslandolan Magna Charta - but for all those who were curious as to how exactly he was convinced, this would be for you! The candlelight glimmered on the shaded canopy, and the bright and roaring fire added its own charm to the scene inside the King's royal bedchamber. King Fernando Augusto VIII lay back on his pillow and sighed contentedly. As it so happened, he was thinking of that glorious, magnificent trick of his in taking those fortresses from the sleepy Oleanders, and planning his own trip to Granoleon in the near future - but then again, you know, that should hardly be surprising, for it is certainly under a great deal of doubt whether he had thought of anything else at all since that brilliant morning! Be that as it may, as he lay there - having strictly instructed his servants not to disturb him, by the way - he happened to hear a strange sound as of something falling softly in the room. Leaping out of his bed and drawing back the curtains, he dashed out armed and, as all his servants would be sure to say, certainly highly dangerous. * * * De Chauncourtois leapt through the partly open but curtained window with a satisfied grin upon his face. This, decidedly, was great fun. Ever since he had been to the meeting with some of the leading figures of New Eslandola a few days previously he had known exactly what he was going to do, and planning it all out had been extraordinarily exciting. But there's nothing like the execution itself! Drawing and cocking his pistol, he dropped into his good friend, the King's, bed-chamber, along with half a company of ETWC soldiers, all apparently as enthusiastic about the idea as their energetic leader himself. The second he had emerged from the voluminous folds of his magnificent bed, however, the King caught sight of de Chauncourtois and his soldiers, and the nightcap dropped from his hand in utter surprise. But the King wasn't king for nothing, you know! Coming up with the next thing to do when in a pinch was his expertise, and with a quick glance around and a reflection on the great bravery and prudence he had inherited from his illustrious ancestors, he collected his scattered wits and dashed from the room. But unfortunately for him, of course, his good friend de Chauncourtois had foreseen that, and King Fernando Augusto found that, all down the hall, a host of ETWC soldiers were pouring in, doubtless to show him back into his bed-chamber for a good night's rest. * * * But, you know, when Guy K. Wyndzon dropped in to the palace latter that morning, to his surprise he found the King and de Chauncourtois seated at the whist table, sipping their champagne and laughing and chatting like the oldest of friends. And, after all, he found that the King had turned the matter over in his head, and decided that signing the Magna Charta was rather a good idea all things considered. A closeup shot: The bed: And another final picture of about the whole thing (as much as could be got into one photo, at any rate! ) As to the build, it was certainly a lot of fun, and I had some great chances to experiment with inventing new techniques and reusing old ones. An interesting thing about it is that I used every last one of my own headlight bricks here and quite a few of Kai's as well! - in fact, the build was about chock full of half-plate offsets. The candles are a previous design of mine, the bed under the canopy is Kai's design, and the canopy itself is another attempt of mine at such things, and I think it turned out far better than my first! Thank for viewing, C&C are welcome! And don't forget to enter the Eslandolan minichallenge!
  16. The Pontellis are getting ready for the Merrynight celebration. That is Alberto, Natasha and George da Pontelli are exchanging presents, drinking hot spiced wine (one of them is drinking banana juice) and eat the traditional banana cake. And then they will relax by the light of their beautiful Merrynight Cactus: (As you may know, there are no fir trees on Nellisa.) This is an entry to the "Nellisan Merrynight Challenge" - Category B - Celebrations. C&C welcome!
  17. To outsiders it might look like a tense time in Eslandola, what with the attack on the treasure fleet and the war with Mardier, but we also like to party. 18. With King Fernando gone, everyone was happy in the East Wind Trading Company. Colonel Brickinson found it cool to hang out with the gang and have a celebration This is my entry for the categories II and III: Category II: The Trade Companies’ Reactions Category III: Your Sigfig's Reaction
  19. Captain Braunsfeld

    King of the Booze

Things were going well for King Fernando. His dog had stayed true to him. Plus the coins that he found in his crown every night enabled him to keep up a decent level of booze-induced indifference every day. People passing by kept wondering about that strange drunken impersonator... This is an entry for the the "The King's Demise" challenge - Category I: King Fernando’s Reaction (And I need to mention that I used orange, dark orange, dark red, olive green and purple - otherwise this might have been a nice vignette )
  20. Build for the Mini-Challenge. This is the Wu Shoot gang of Charlatan Bay. They specialize in the fine art of assassination, kidnapping, extortion and general mischief. They also run the Wu Shoot school. The leader and founder of the gang is Master Wu. He is a 20th dan master of Wu Shoot. Sensei Li is his right hand man. Li is a 10th dan student of Master Wu. He has a special way to encourage people talk with his Persuader. Pistol Pete is the youngest member of gang. He is skilled in pick pocketing and the double pistol technique. The Double Arrow Twins are really twins. They have eyes like a hawk and are just as deadly accurate. There are rumours that they moonlight in Double Spearmint gum newspaper ads.
  21. Build for Mini-Challenge: King's Demise Category 3 There is turn and churn over in Eslandola. Their future is in question. How will the political strife impact the Sea Rats? Are the Sea Rats worried? Is the world going to end? Avast, according to the faction descriptions, Sea Rats are indifferent to the going-ons in Eslandola. So surf's up... Pirates Paradise by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Susie Cheng and her pirate crew are hanging out between MRCAs. Time for another drink and slice of watermelon.
  22. Build for Mini-Challenge King's Demise Category I News of King Fernando Augusto's demise may be premature. Somewhere in Eslandola, the King is secretly planning his comeback rock tour. The colonies that declared independence are in for a special royal treat.
  23. This is my entry to the Desert King's Nocturnus Crusade mini-challenge Changing Allegiance (again) The notorious mercenary company "The Arkbri Falcons", under the command of Ediz Falconi, were fighting for the High Council during the Kaliphlin Civil War. They have however decided that at the moment joining the forces of the Desert King presents the most likely prospect for hoards of gold at a moderate risk. Mounted on camels, the Arkbri Falcons are now following one of Kaliphlin's ancient paved roads on their way to Sultan's Gate. They will meet up with forces from all over Kaliphlin to support the Desert King in his crusade to return Nocturnus to it's rightful rulers. Falconi leading his troops.
  24. To the outsiders, the Merchant’s Colonial Trading Company may look like a profit grubbing organization, but in reality, we’re interested in a lot more than just money. And Eslandian culture is one of those things that is high up on our priority list. That’s why, every year, we sponsor a recurring Musician’s Talent Fair. Come on over to Bardo and join in the fun! Rules: Your entry must showcase a musician performing for the Musician’s Talent Fair. Your entry must be located in Bardo (post in the Bardo settlement thread). You must provide a link to your entry below. You must submit your entry by the 25th of March, 12:00 PM, your time zone. Your entry must measure 8 studs in width and length. There is no height restriction. Your entry may only have a minimal (2 stud) overhang. Only one prize maximum will be awarded per entrant. Prizes will be paid in April, not March. We’re looking for quality, not quantity, so you may only submit a maximum of two entries. You must be a BoBS member to participate, but you can belong to any faction. Prizes: A panel of judges, including the leader of MCTC and the mayor of Bardo, will judge all entries and choose a select number of favorites to be exhibited on the front of this year’s Musician’s Talent Fair Paper. One winning entry with be awarded 20 DBs. The best MCTC entry will be awarded 20 DBs as well. Every entry chosen for the newspaper will be awarded 2 DBs.
  25. The call had gone out from the Desert King; fighters were requested (more like ordered) to gather at Sultan's Gate for a crusade to rid Nocturnus of the Black Spire. There had been much debate in the Nestlands Clans High Ministry about whether to heed the Desert King's call. Not about opposing the Black Spire, but about joining the Desert King's forces beforehand. Ultimately it was decided that a small, token force would keep the Desert King's ire away from the Nestlands. The warrior group calling themselves A Flight Of Ravens volunteered for this duty. Beyond this, the priests of the Armored Eagle Goddess have decided that it would be an appropriate time preserve copies of the holy texts, pressed onto copper sheets, in a far off place. Somewhere upon the Great Escarpment would do nicely. The path to Sultan's Gate has the Nestlands Clans contingent passing through a barely dry wash near one of the latter battle sites of the Kaliphlin Civil War. Namses Setesh offered to guide Priest Ydreesur Albon to a shallow cavern where the holy text could be secured. Ydreesur had concerns about the layout of the cavern. Namses assured him that there was a moderate wall with a flat, north-facing side where the fiery portal could be represented. When all the texts were properly arranged, and portal represented, the cavern would be sealed by Namses with his recently acquired power. Raun McUrsgur has the dubious honor of driving the cart with its holy cargo. He is worried that this hump may just be too big to go over. Olik Funrirr is just vibrating with the thought of using his mage talents on some Drow flesh. Sorcha Dyrfyr is mildly irritated at Olik's bouncy demeanor. Fergus Kenzit has been singing songs of bed conquests, and his sister Nessi is about ready to knock him senseless. The cargo for this journey. The gold chest is the agreed upon taxes that the Nestlands Clans owed to the Desert King. Since the tax collector never showed up, it was decided that the taxes delivered this way would be advantageous. Particularly when the High Ministry wanted the Desert King to be mindful in protecting the southern Rakath from invasion. The large crate holds the painstakingly crafted copper sheets of holy text. The right barrel contains the orange paint for representing the fiery portal. The left barrel contains the oh so precious fresh water. The brown chest has a bunch of dried meat sticks, mostly mountain cat, and enough wax to fill the ears of the whole party. The wax was included because there was rumor that the Desert King was to make some "prophetic announcement", so the priests were kind enough to provide this protection from the usurper's demagoguery. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Here's some more overall and detail thumbnails (including empty shots).
