    Captain MetalBeard

I'm not sure where to put this... Does anyone have a booklet or plans for building captain metalbeard like the one in the duel? I'd like to get the plans and order the parts. I don't feel like shelling out $190 for the duel set when I only want half of the set. Thank you for replies!
  2. Hi, I've been working on a movie accurate MetalBeard, mostly from this playlist, but also using a 4K copy of the movie and various screenshots. Just wanted the thoughts of the community on whether I'm missing anything. My wanting to have him accurate is almost reaching OCD levels, but I am happy with where he is now. One part of note is the latest update video in the playlist posted a few days ago which I can confirm is in the movie from this screencap: [img=] In the video he forces the piece to the point it's bending, I didn't want to do that so moved the shark forward a peg. Any suggestions or ideas would be great. Here is some pictures of my MetalBeard as of posting, thanks! http://i.imgur.com/vxNSnLC.jpg http://i.imgur.com/lXnjEHi.jpg http://i.imgur.com/h1EBvLb.jpg http://i.imgur.com/Gro0GSN.jpg http://i.imgur.com/awQ8JwM.jpg
  3. As avowning long-time steam-punk and one of the founders of the austrian steampunk-community I instantly fell in love with Metalbeard's robo-pirate design. I already made loads of costumes before but this was my first attempt on working with EVA-foam (Ethylene-vinyl acetate). First of all I needed some patterns, so I made 3D-models using fotographs of the original LEGO-pieces as reference. After that I dissected the models into their single surfaces, unfolded them and arranged the on multiple pages for printing. Next I transferred the cut-out paper pattern onto the surface of my foam-sheets, sawed them out on an electric scroll saw and ground some of the 90 degrees edges to slopes with a disc grinder. Afterwards I thermo-formed some of the pieces with a heat gun and bent them into their final shape. After I had all the components I needed, I glued them together with a hot glue gun and finally painted the props with acrylic paint. To make the beard wearable I attached a leather-strap on its inside which would later be covered by the bicorne. Finally I made a matching eyepatch out of leather (also using some fotographs as reference). The picture was taken at the LEGO-Store Donauzentrum (Vienna/Austria). You can find more pictures of the single objects in my cosplay folder on my homepage.

    Mini Lego Sea Cow

MINI LEGO SEA COW LDD 17B Hey guys! Thought I might want to share my first Pirates MOC. I was looking at some of the relatively few mini models of the Sea Cow from the lego movie, when I noticed something. They were all extremely good, (especially the one here on Eurobricks) but they were all too small. So I built my own. A full front view of it. Obviously the sail details aren't perfect, but I did my best. You can see the shaping of the hull, which I did using numerous hinges and SNOT techniques. The bowsprit on the front is constructed using hinges, 1X3 plates, and rounded slopes. The entire inside of the ship is semi-accessible, but the size makes interior detailing difficult. Sorry about the inconsistencies in the images. The first one was taken before I updated the Lego Ideas page. A better view of the back half of the ship, as well as the chair. The rear deck of the ship, as well as a partial view of the upper cabins in the ship. Visit the link below if you want to vote for it on Lego Ideas. https://ideas.lego.c...s/79307/updates

  6. I've seen a few attempts to recreate MetalBeard's film appearance around the net, but they've all fallen short of total accuracy by a significant measure. I looked back through the film and determined all of the differences, created an LDD model, ordered the parts I needed, and got to building. And the back There are a ton of minute differences between the film version and the final set, so I won't attempt to cover them all in text. Suffice to say most of the changes seem to be in the interest of stabilization and economy of parts. His right foot, peg leg, and back are the only parts constructed completely differently, but there are tiny changes throughout the model. If your interested in seeing everything in more detail, here's the LXF: This is the link to the LXF I just mentioned I believe I used the wrong color for the light grey parts in the LDD model, my bad. If you want to try your hand at building the model physically, note that there are a few parts that don't exist in the correct colors. The gears atop MetalBeard's shoulders should be dark grey, but only come in light grey. The chain from his chest to his shark arm should be metallic. I'm also fairly certain that the brackets holding his treasure chest are supposed to be gold. And that's all there is to say, I suppose. Arg!
  7. Hello there everyone! After watching The Lego movie on the 9th, I noticed that in the movie, Metalbeard has some differences to the Metalbeard in the set: 70802- Metalbeard's Duel. I decided to change it to be more "Movie-accurate" (I apologise for the bad quality photos) Front: Back: I noticed there was a 2x4 dark grey plate on his back in the movie: Source image: Hope you like my 'mod'
