  1. It has been a (scandalously) long time since I found some spare time to build for Andromeda's Gates, the sci-fi rpg over on Eurobricks, but with this GARC I managed to hop back in. GARC: Galactic Asteroid Rally Circuit racers These are basically microbuild spaceships made to zoom around asteroids, and they are part of the Challenge 5, category C. The rules mention the vessel must count 12x12 studs maximum excluding exhaust fumes etc, which I managed to the final stud in length (see the bottom picture). The Ice Runner is the latest Kawashita racer, and sports the icy logo of Von Geekington's love for ice mining. Long and sleek, she is mostly geared towards straight line speed, sacrificing manoeuvrability instead. Sporting quad awesomnium impulse engines, the lady is ready to compete for gold in the AG Olympics! And the requested twelve stud measurement
  2. My entry into the 3rd sporting event: The Red Scarab! I didn't take a picture of it fitting within a 12x12 frame, but it does. You can count the studs for the top of the build and see that there are 10 studs used for the body plus the 1.2ish for the cheese slope cockpit. The wings aren't wider than the body is long so it's good there too. And trails don't count, right?
  3. SO this would be my first GARC, I have gone over the guide lines and even though the picture looks out, it is on a 10x20 frame and will fit inside a 12x12 frame. Cheers. 4. The Chūrippu 502 is the hottest rod of the whole Kawashita GARC fleet. It is sponsored by Zumbi Media, Stark Industries, and a range of other Kawashita-affiliated corporations, laboratories, and organizations. The Chūrippu 502 was designed by Dr. Asuka Ross and her husband Malachi Ross, both based on Mars. The design was perfected in Mars orbit, put through its paces in every major GARC qualification track in Sol System. Though it may seem weird that a GARC cruiser be named after a flower as common as the red tulip, the Hanakotoba associates this flower with fame and charity, representing the values of its designers and all of us here at Kawashita. Any proceeds from sponsorship deals or GARC prize monies will be donated to Andromedan amputees to cover the costs of both rehabilitation and top-of-the-line Kawashita prostheses. Some additional views of the craft: And of course, the proofing shots required by Andromeda GARC authorities to make sure craft like the Chūrippu 502 are regulation sized ans spec: Builder's Notes: -This is my first ever GARC and it was tons of fun to make. The platform that the build is set on is 12x12 studs, which should be easily apparent from the top-down view. -If you look carefully, you'll notice that the "SF" racing sticker on the right side of the ship is cut up into 3 pieces. I did that on purpose and really like the effect. It was fun to play with stickers, which is usually something I don't mess around with. I'd really like to get some custom stickers! -Thanks for looking!
  5. With three of the four significant asteroid fields in Andromeda all near each other around the Octan / Kawashita border, it is to be expected that when M.A.N.T.I.S. based itself on Torresta, it found itself in the part of the Galaxy furthest away from most of Galaxy's G.A.R.C. racing culture... The teams, the drivers, the fans; with the Hamilton Belt, Fascini Cluster and Sinden's Run all near each other, racing was rife and popular... it was just popular somewhere else for M.A.N.T.I.S. There had been G.A.R.C. races over on 'this side' of the Galaxy but the dense and unpredictable nature of Barker's Folly had defeated them... Too many lost machines... Too many lost pilots. But, of course... That didn't put everyone off and while the rest of the galaxy played it safe on what had become the 'regular circuit', spending half of their time dealing with the logistical difficulties of trying to practice and race in sectors that live constantly on the verge of changing corporate hands, deep within M.A.N.T.I.S territory in the heart of Barker's Folly, when the patrols are lightest... They gather. News of a G.A.R.C. event in the Olympics had spread quickly and suddenly, M.A.N.T.I.S. engineers found themselves trying to engineer racing machines instead of spy-ships... The racers of Barker's Folly were not going to miss this opportunity; no testing ground was more difficult to hone your skills in and prove your worth... Now was their chance to show the Galaxy. They arrived at Torresta en-mass; a show of force. M.A.N.T.I.S. would respect that. With the resources of M.A.N.T.I.S. combined with the skills and knowledge of the racers of Barker's Folly... We would be ready. Race number: 0 Machine: Zero Tolerance Team: M.A.N.T.I.S. Origin: Barker's Folly Pilots: Imogen Goodheart / Heidi Von Schnelle Additional images: Front quarter. Plan: Underside: Rear: Scrutineering: Vertical core: Horizontal core: Parts (ish) Note: Since taking this photo I've made the front grille all one section by using 1x1, 1x3, 1x1 black plate to back it. It has to be removed separately but is much stronger. Thanks.

  7. On Farmolis's Famous Octan Olympic Arena, where all the best and brightest athletes have come to train! Including none other than Dr. Danielle Long, who was surprised to wake up to a holo-mail from CEO Pombe, requesting her presence at the games... on penalty of forfeiture of shares... "What.... exactly am I looking at here?" "That's your GARC! For the Olympic challenge!" "You have got to be joking." "Nope! That's the design! We ran it and several dozen others by test audiences, and they thought that this was the best match for you!" "No no no... Just look at this thing! The skulls and bones and flames? Do they think I'm some uppity punk?" "This is a GARC! The ships you'll be up against will be brutal cut-up-sticker-spammed vehicles straight out of Mad Max 82 Fury Skies! Take a look at the maneuverability though! This badboy can fly with precision targeting at great speeds! Engines on all sides! And as for the skulls? Well... There's no drag in space, baby! " "But... Well, I've already seen some of the entries. They look... normal." "Yeah, but this one was tailored for you by a crew of your employees who thought it best matched your personality." "By the stars... I'm beginning to think I have a massive PR problem." "Well... It could be PR." "And the name. Honestly? A typo? What the nebula does "Lolng" Mean anyways?!" "Nope. Not a typo. The designer's just a huge nerd." "Tell them they're fired. They're all fired." Maybe I was wrong to fire them. This thing flies really smoothly. Or at least the AI flies it smoothly." ~Insectoid Aristocrat
  8. The Wasp is a brand new MANTIS racer created for the GARC event of the Andromedan Olympics. Although it is smaller than many of its competitors don't let its size fool you, it's low profile and extreme maneuverability allow it to fit through all but the tightest asteroid fields where larger racers struggle. In addition it's engines are more powerful than one would expect because all the energy that is typically reserved for the mandatory weapons systems in MANTIS vehicles has been diverted straight to the thrusters, drastically improving speed! C & C appreciated! Thanks for looking!
  9. Fred Ratulon was a terrible pilot. One of the worst anyone had ever seen. But when he applied to be part of the M.A.N.T.I.S. GARC team with the top of the line racer his extremely wealthy parents had bought for him, no one was going to turn him down. Even when they heard he'd named it FR3D... Thanks for reading! C&C welcome!
  10. Col. Brik, you're GARC is ready to go, Sir. We used the usual 'old school' style building you so enjoy. We hope it can compete with the newer style builds produced by the other competitors.
  11. My first proper go at a fully stickered GARC racer. I designed the engine first, then it took several iterations to figure out a body design that I felt suited it. The stickers took about three hours, then my eyes gave up but it's my first go so I'm really pleased with the outcome. Mostly the cut-to-size hexagon pattern from a Super Heroes Brainiac set. Here's the energy core which is mostly hidden from view. And here's the underside: There's more photos on my Flickr feed. Thanks for looking. Luc.
  12. Aryna here, I've been given this ship to race in the Andromeda Olympics. The engineering department proved they aren't great with names during the boat race, so this thing was delivered without a name. Eh, no matter! I've taken to calling it the Blastcore. Supposedly the technology in that big ol' engine casing is classified, so all I know about it's propulsion. Maybe I'll plug myself into the OS later. Anyway, time to fire this thing up! (My photo skills need some work) Size Proof 12x8 I won't be able to take this apart now. I'd feel I was wasting stickers! C&C welcome!
  13. I made a GARC
  14. Last week I've built this small MOC in just an hour. It's a micro-scale GARC Star Cruiser. It's a fast spaceship. And it has landing gear. 19. My second try at a GARC racer: the Dragonfly EX-2, not as much brute force as the F-1000 but much more manuverable: Both Swoosh pic to verify this is a GARC racer More pics here (both of this and the F-1000): http://www.legocreat...Garc-Racers.php All C&C welcome
  20. The KY R-550 was a one of the large racers built by MB industries. Pilots favored it for its quick jump when the gun sounded, giving them that early lead. It was however, very prone to come apart when it reached Mach 3. My second GARC. Since I've worked on this one, its become my favorite racer I've built so far. Though it is a bit fragile... 21. The large engine and thrusters made this one of the faster racer on the track However, the fuel lines running from front to back made this racer notorious for bursting into flames when it crashed. So, got one GARC racer done. I'll post another tomorrow. These are so fun to build, I've already got a fourth in the works! Flickr Set Facebook December 2012
  22. A few weeks ago I've made this micro-scale GARC spacehip. I was very busy so I didn't have had time to make some pictures earlier. A micro-scale GARC named X-GARC-01. A FAST spaceship for GARC races. It has four lasers in X-Wing position.
