  1. Hi all, This topic is for discussion of the new C-Model Index (under construction here), and for suggestions of C-Models for inclusion. I hope the index will help us all keep track of the great C-Models people have created, and in many cases, their instructions. I've managed to find a good collection to get started, but no doubt I will have missed some, so please tell me any you'd like to see added (or any mistakes/missing details/etc), and I'll add them in future updates. Rules for inclusion: Uses parts from only one set; That's about it! Where possible, I'll list details of EB topic, youtube video, instructions, and part count. Models detailed on EB are obviously favoured, but I've already come across one or two from elsewhere which I feel deserve to be included. They are listed in no particular order. Where individuals have listed their creations as C-Model, D-Model, etc, I have ignored this and called them all C-Models, because each designer's classification doesn't work when all compiled together. To keep this manageable, I'm going to try and release these in groups according to the original set. To start with, here's all the C-Models I have managed to round up for the set that got me out of my dark age - and perhaps its no surprise, given the sheer number of useful parts: [EDIT: moved 42009 into the index.] Hope this is useful - suggestions welcome. Jo
  2. LEGO TECHNIC C-MODEL INDEX ***Index under construction - please add your suggestions and comments to the C-Model Index Discussion topic here, rather than commenting on this topic. This is a (slow!) work in progress, so please be patient *** Welcome to the C-Model Index! It aims to help you answer the question: "I've got set (X)XXXX - what can I build with it?" (or "I can't bear to mix up my sets' parts", or "I only want to take apart one model at a time" ). Missing a great C-model? Broken link? Wrong info? Let me know in the discussion topic. There have been some excellent alternate builds or C-Models showing up lately. I'm a big fan of these, as they open up new opportunities for those of us without a huge collection of spare parts, and in my view every one increases the value of the set in question. It's obviously a big challenge for the designer to work from a restricted pool of parts, and it's clear that certain sets lend themselves well to alternate builds. I also get frustrated when I come across a great C-Model topic, which I then can't find again later. So as my small contribution to EB, here is what I hope might become the definitive C-Model index, helping us all keep track of these great models, and in many cases, their instructions. Rules for inclusion: Uses parts from only one set; That's about it! Index structure: taking into account the useful suggestions of other eurobrickers, I've decided on the following structure: An index of sets is further down this first post (organised by date and set number); Each set will have its own post below. This keeps the index organised by set, so that all the C-Models for a given set are kept together; Each set's post includes, where known, the details of EB topic, youtube video, instructions, and part count; Sets' posts are listed in no particular order - use the links in this index post to find the set you want; If a set number doesn't appear in the list, it's because either A) no C-Models exist yet (in which case go and design one!), or B) I haven't found them (in which case point me towards it by commenting in the discussion topic); C-Models are listed in no particular order. Where individuals have listed their creations as C-Model, D-Model, etc, I have ignored this and called them all C-Models, because each designer's classification doesn't work when all compiled together; Part counts are taken for a variety of sources, and may therefore not quite match up (and can lead to percentages over 100%, for example); Limits on the number of media files per post means some (42039, I'm looking at you!) are split up into multiple posts. 2016 42055 Bucket Wheel Excavator (5) [New] 42054 CLAAS XERION 5000 TRAC VC (7) [New] 42053 Volvo EW160E (1) [New] 42052 Heavy Lift Helicopter (2) [New] 42048 Race Kart (4) [New] 42045 Hydroplane Racer (1) 2015 42043 Mercedes-Benz Arocs 3245 (5) 42042 Crawler Crane (6) 42039 24 Hours Race Car part 1 / part 2 (15) [Updated] 42038 Arctic Truck (8) [Updated] 42037 Formula Off-Roader (1) 42036 Street Motorcycle (3) 42035 Mining Truck (3) 2014 42025 Cargo Plane (4) 42024 Container Truck (7) 42022 Hot Rod (3) 42021 Snowmobile (2) 42020 Twin Rotor Helicopter (3) 2013 42010 Off-road Racer (1) 42009 Mobile Crane MKII (8) 42008 Service Truck (4) 42000 Grand Prix Racer (8) 2012 9398 4x4 Crawler (6)
  3. So this will be my second topic on eb beside my 42043-C Zetros topic. This time it will be a D-model for 42043 Arcos set, and like the C.model I will continue the Mercedes Benz theme. The D-model will be an Unimog U4000 only build with parts from the 42043 set. facts: Mercedes Benz Unimog U4000 (4x4) 4 Inline engine Lenght: 5410 mm wide: 2336 mm Height: 2612 mm tyre size: 335/80 R 20 so if the model should be in a perfect scale of the IRL unimog, it would be a 1:16 build acording to the 62.4/20S lego tyres, because those are the one we have in the 42043 set. that means the 42043-D Unimog U4000 will be Lenght: 34 Studs (+-) Wide: 19 Studs (+-) Height: 20 Studs (+-) Pictures of my "don't think or calculate, just build" progress below Update will come....
