    [Moc] The Robbery

One night, the falcon princess is startled awake. What is happening? "No movement!" hisses a voice. Through her eyelashes, the princess sees two green shadows. One is in the broken window, the other is prowling through her room. With the broken peg of the window, the treasure chest is broken open. In a large green chest, she sees all her gold disappearing ... Will she? Or is it wiser to stay put anyway?

  3. My latest MOC, dedicated to my grandfather who recently passed away. Hope you like it. It was custom for the four kingdoms to have an embassy in each others capitals. This made diplomatic work much easier than sending a traditional diplomatic contingent. These embassies quickly became important status symbols for their respective rulers. What had started out as simple townhouses, meant to house a couple of diplomats had since turned into mansions worthy of the wealthiest city-dwelling nobles. This was especially true for the embassy of the Archduchy of Rabenfels, also known as the Black Falcons due to their heraldry depicting a falcon on a blue or yellow background. Rumor has it that the bird is actually a raven or a crow, referring to the their ill-gotten wealth. The embassy is currently governed by the archdukes nephew Alexander Raben, who notoriously neglects traditional diplomatic duties in favor of knightly sport and diplomacy by the sword.
  4. With the reissuing of the Black Falcon’s faction in the current Blacksmith set and in the lego creator 3 in 1 castle set, I thought it was the right time to give the Black Falcons back a proper fortress. For me such a fortress has to be based on the iconic fortress in set 6074 from 1986. Lego already did a re-release in 2012, but this was an exact copy of the 1986 set. Now 10 years later, with modern lego bricks we can give it a fresh new look up to today’s standards. Like in the orginal set, in my build the front of the fortress has 2 octagonal towers surrounding the drawbridge. This special tower shape gave the 1986 set it’s iconic look, so this shape was a must to include in this MOC. In the back of the fortress, the defensive walls in the corners are also half octagonal shaped to continue this unique look. Also like in the original in the back on the right side, there is a square tower with a pyramid shaped black roof (with the old style slopes). In the back on the left, I deviated somewhat from the orginal layout to create much larger living quarters. The yellow-black wall in the watchtower in the 1986 set is replaced by a whole yellow-black dining room on the first floor and an attic on top in this section. The positioning of the roof and chimney are pretty close to the orginial, but way bigger. There's a lot of detail cramped up in a 40x40 brick footprint so it can be used as a display piece on a shelf. But like the 6074 set it can open up completely and every function becomes accessible. Play functions: a drawbridge a forge a kitchen a dining room an attic for storage with pulley system a market/shop a jail a water well a secret wall I’m still waiting on some parts to finish the live build, so therefore I finished it first in studio and created already some renders. Actual photo’s will be added later on. 5. [MOC] Black Falcon’s Towers / Red Dragon's Towers Pieces: 1,680 Inspirations: Colour scheme from Royal Knights’ Castle (6090). The jumper plate battlements design is taken from Brother Steven’s “Rosewood Hall”. This was also my first time building rocks, which the castle sits atop. I have also done two colour schemes: 1. Blue roof & Black Falcon minifigs: Black Falcon’s Towers 2. Dark Red roof & Dark Red & Black minifigs: Red Dragon’s Towers Thanks for looking. Sheps. 6. The 10305 Lion Knights' Castle is amazing. It's also $400 plus tax. The 31120 Medieval Castle is a great castle for $100 plus tax, but it doesn't have a lot of minifigs. What if you want a really simple, classic castle? As an exercise, I built set 6073 Knight's Castle from 1984 in Studio using only parts currently available from Bricks and Pieces. The result uses 670 parts, compared to the original 408, because the panels are brick-built, and it has no horses, and the minifigs are plain, but other than that it's a pretty close copy. The render doesn't show the minifigs, shields, and weapons, but they're included in my Bricks and Pieces bag. The total cost on Lego.com is $95.15 plus tax, plus whatever two horses and saddles cost from Bricklink or Bricks and Minifigs. Genuine used copies of 6073 currently go for $175 on Bricklink in the USA, or $150-200 on eBay depending on the condition. Will I go ahead and buy the parts? Almost certainly not. The 31120 is a much better castle for $100 plus tax, except for the paucity of minifigs. But it was an interesting exercise. Maybe in a few days I'll see if Bricks and Pieces can yield up a decent light gray recolor of the Yellow Castle. The horses won't be missing from that one ....

    [MOC] The wrong turn

Deep in the Whispering Woods, you better don’t take a wrong turn, or trying to cross it without a guide. A small Black Falcon patrol finds itself lost in the woods. The translucent purple ‘Stera’ mushrooms are used in many magic potions, as a natural defense, the spores they produce turn some other types of mushrooms into flesh eating ones. A special kind of tactic is needed to defends against them, unfortunately that is not known to many... Build for the High Fantasy category Summer Joust 2021. [MOC] The Black Serpent

Hello Lego Castle Fans! for starters - it's going to be a long slow project :) Do you remember 6057 Sea Serpent set from 1992? I've never had this set in my collection, I thought it might be worth building a new version... for Black Falcons fraction! One week ago I started building my first ship project - Medieval Cog "The Black Serpent"! This is still work in progress moc, I have a lot of work to do :) Now, has 43 cm long and almost 900 parts (will be more). Then I will make my own sail, so far I have prepared the material (my old pillow), I painted it white, I still have to paint the Black Falsons logo. But it's not over! I also want buils some area, fragment of sea and coast with some stronghold - for Raven Knights. The next steps are: - complete the ship's design, - make a sail, - order a lot of new parts, - hunt few sheeps from set 10775 I prepared the first material from this project, if you are interested, check out my youtube - Edge of Bricks channel :)

    CCCXIV Falcon's Winter Fortress

My entry in the Ice Castle category, and second in the CCC. This is the largest castle I have built, and I am very pleased with how it turned out. Not completely happy with how some of the interior turned out, but still pleased with most of it. A close up of the falcon mosaic. Don't eat the yellow snow. No matter how cold it gets, there is always that one guy. As always, feel free to comment and/or criticise. EKnight
  14. Heya! You can view the images from the link below. https://goo.gl/photos/p5Eg5HFDFfekpP5g8 Here I present you the Black Falcon Fortress, which Sigolf was kind enough to do in LDD but never actually gave us the pics of it been built! :) I of course aligned the Falcon with the Dragons, as he apparently is their bannermen currently. With such inspiration given, planning to do a layout for it to connect with Kings castle few village pieces I've had in the making. The towers could've been square to be honest, maybe the look would've been even more nostalgic.
  15. Currently still on my wishlist, the 1986 Black Falcon's Fortress is one of those sets that was re-released for a reason: it's simple but epic. Therefore, I built a small castle for these cool and mysterious guys that surely would make them feel right at home. Overview shot of the fortress, located on a small peninsula. Two guards stand.. well.. guard, at the main gate as a patrol party returns to the castle. For one of the guards, this means relief from his duty and off to dinner! The courtyard has stables for some horses and a walkway along the battlements accesible via a door in the keep. There's also a trap door with a staircase underneath... ..that leads to a hidden door at the rear of the castle where one could moor a small boat. The rear of the castle with de hidden door clearly visible (heh ) The keep opens up, as a play feature.. ..as does the roof of the armory I'm really happy with the composition of the castle, it's really compact and I find it visually pleasing. More pictures in the Brickshelf folder here: http://www.brickshel...ry.cgi?f=541898 On behalf of the Black Falcons, thanks for viewing, and don't tell anyone about the hidden passageway!
  16. Lord Vladivus

    The Emissary: Part 2

The Shadowmere throneroom was lavish, with a red carpet rolled out from the foot of the obsidian steps leading to Vladivus' golden throne. Banners hung from the walls, indicating fealty sworn to Shadowmere, and defeated enemies. The honour of guarding the throneroom went to the Kazzar Blackcloaks, who owed the Lord of Shadowmere a life's debt. Fearsome warriors all, they cut an intimidating silhouette with their lances, and none moreso than Vorek Steeljaw, his long golden lance setting him apart as a Captain in the Kazzar Blackcloaks. Without so much as a glance at this, the Black Spire emissary strode purposefully up the centre, towards Vladivus, flanked by two of his zombie guards, his crown glinting in the orange torchlight. He bowed exaggeratedly. "Hail once again Vladivus", he said mockingly. "Would ye hear my terms?" "Aye", came the measured reply, "let us hear them." The King's words came swiftly, as though practised. "Ravaage would have you bend your knee to him and yield the Resistance leaders," he said gesturing at the balcony, where Angfauglir and Lord Mortis watched. "In return for undying fealty and the dissolution of the Shadowmere Guard, you shall be granted your mothers former lands in Avalonia, where you shall live your life in exile. Your generals must either bend to Ravaage, or be executed." As the last word left the emissary's lips, the doors to the throne room crashed open, and a shout echoed through. "Stop this madness!" At this, the King drew his dirk, and charged at Vladivus, the sceptre in his hand glowing green, seemingly granting him warding against the Kazzar, who moved to intercept him. As fast as the Kazzar were, and as quick as the King moved, the Falcons were faster. Lead by Sir Eothain the Insane, they charged from the doorway, covering the ground swifter than any would have expected, followed by Lady Sithanna, her lips curled in a snarl, and her Manbat Warriors. Eothain's sword clove the sceptre in twain, and the head of the emissary bounced from his shoulders, as his guards fell to the floor. The bodies were swiftly cleared away, and a hurried council of sorts commenced. "What is this? You would kill an emissary?" Vladivus anger was palpable. "Hear us out my Lord" soothed Sithanna. "Your pup damn near killed my men", spat Eothain "He turned on us on the road to Abyssian. Ravaage's troops ambushed us, nothing we couldn't handle. Then the wolves came. Clawbreakers, and others. Fenrir didn't hesitate. He called for us to follow him against the wolves. Who were we to argue? The wolves came again, from behind, and as we turned to take them, Fenrir turned on us. If it weren't for Sithanna's timely arrival, on account of her taking a roundabout route from Kaliphlin we'd have been dog toys. Your guard you sent with us are all dead I'm afraid m'lord." "This King was with Fenrir- baying for blood. He's no emissary, he is, well, he was, an assassin," said Sithanna. "Amset-ra sent one of his men with us as a sign of the new alliance, and he knew the emissary of old." "This is troubling news". Vladivus mused. "Eothain, I'm offering you the position of Shadowmere General- it seems deeds must speak louder than words." At this, he cast his gaze at Angfauglir, who still leant upon the balcony. He turned, "Vorek!" "Yes my Lord?" said the Kazzar. "Call the Captains. Sir Eothain, ready for war." ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- And the next installment! C+C welcome!

    MOC - The Sea Hawk

--------------------------------------- The Black Falcon Flies Again - Part 1 25 years ago Lord Durstan of Highmountain led his people in rebellion against the Crown. At first it went well, but after months of fighting the young Crown Prince brought reinforcements from the capital. Defeated and wounded by the Prince himself, Durstan had no choice but to end his ambitions of independence. For more than two decades he has been away from home, a loyal courtier in the royal castle. But he still remembers Highmountain in his dreams. He dreamt of it the night the Chamberlain woke him, with news that the King had an errand for him. The Chamberlain took Durstan through the city, down towards the docks. There was trouble in Highmountain, he told him; rumblings of war. The King wanted Durstan to return home and restore the Crown's order. They arrived at the docks and Durstan saw it: his own ship, repainted in the King's colours but as proud as when he'd last seen it quarter of a century ago. The Sea Hawk. The King himself was there to see them off. Durstan swore his loyalty and promised to do what he could to restore order. And then they took to sea, and finally he was homeward-bound again. -------------- This is my first large-scale MOC. I never quite lost interest in Lego, but I didn't build anything for a long time. My dad loved it, though - he was a long-term AFOL. He didn't build his own things, but he liked looking at what others made and would often tell me excitedly about the latest sets. Late last year he was diagnosed with a brain tumour. I built this while he was ill and finished it after his death a few months ago. I like to think he'd be pleased with it. This one's for him. Janjy
  19. With the information gleaned from the would be Zugal Assassin, Vladivus is able to launch an assault on Strangeholt Tower, a stronghold of the Black Spire. Encamped before the walls is a force of Black Falcons, and defending the tower itself are many strange, warped warriors, werewolves, vulture-people, and other more miscellaneous things. Lord Vladivus is resplendent in his armour, and astride a mighty barded warhorse, he strikes at the mightiest knights the Black Falcons can throw at him. Around him, the Shadowmere Guard and the Knights of the Inner Keep fight with implacable, zombie resolve, whilst Krell, the Necromancer, keeps raising them up to fight again. General Fenrir Bloodcloak, closest ally of Vladivus joins the fight on his horse, leading his werewolf warriors against the Falcons. He bears the red and gold standard of Nocturnus, and it flutters defiantly in the breeze. Fenrir's growls are audible even above the din of battle, such is his anger. Lurking inside, Zurias, the Raven emissary of Ravaage relishes the coming fight. He prepares to meet Vladivus in battle, to end Nocturnian resitance once and for all. Phase 3 Warlords build- tried out a new technique for the walls. I imagine this to just be a small buttress of the tower, ive not got enough bricks for a giant one sadly. Also wanted to try a swamp surrounded by land, which I hadn't done previously. I'm quite pleased with my falcons- I wanted a more modern version of them. Threw in parts from one of the new Chima vultures on the tower defenders- the torso and legs are great, not sure on the head though! C+C welcome!

  21. I recently got my old childhood collection back. I unboxed it yesterday and took some photos to share, if anybody is interested. If you have any advice or comments, feel free to post here. I have yet to sift through pieces. Everything seems to be packed up into these Ziploc bags and sorted surprisingly well. I think my mother must have done this. I have to say, it's so strange because my memories of my Lego collection are different from what is actually here. I remember us having repurposed paint buckets for our toys and the Lego was just kind of jumbled up in there, but what I unboxed here... it almost seems to be sorted by set, or at least theme. Who sorted this? I don't want to ramble on too long and bore you all, though. Anyway on with the photos. Here is a shot of everything together as it came out of the bin. Don't squint too hard, because I have other better photos with things grouped. DSC_0044 by ZeyaV, on Flickr I must admit, I had feared the worst. I was expecting everything to be a hopeless jumble, scratched up, abused. But I think we were pretty tame kids and my mom made sure we took care of our things. Rarely would we leave toys out overnight, and it would all go back in the bucket for storage. Sure, there are a couple plates and things here and there that are snapped. But by and large, this is in pretty good condition. Of particular note are the instructions. I would have bet these were long gone! I'm going to have to go through this over time, but these instructions are in good shape. A couple of the ones from way back that we inherited from our cousins are a little torn, but still usable. Again, don't squint too much/long at this photo, but here are all the instructions together in one shot: DSC_0030 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And here are the instructions laid out by theme. Pirates! My favorite theme, especially as an adult. DSC_0033 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And castle! Wow. There's quite a few large sets here. These were some really nice Christmas presents. I remember my big Christmas present at the bottom of my stack was almost always a big Lego set. Well one year it was an Erector set. DSC_0037 by ZeyaV, on Flickr Space! I'm fairly sure the classic space sets were my older cousin's, originally. I definitely remember the parts, such as the technic pieces that make a bendy thing and the brackets with side-facing studs, and the little rocket-like things that face down (usually used as missile cannons or something, hehe). The couple of Blacktron sets were mine though. DSC_0039 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And here are the other instructions for what Brickset terms "Basic", "Legoland", a Town racer set, and a McDonald's promo thing. Also 3 advertisement inserts that probably came from some of these sets. DSC_0041 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And two random Technic sets. DSC_0032 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And last item for the paper goods, the Lego Idea book. Inside, I found a sticker sheet, and one pristine sail from a Castle set. I think I got this when I was getting on the older side, maybe 12 years old, and I don't think I used this book too much. Hardcore video game phase. Spoiled brat. :/ DSC_0010 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0011 by ZeyaV, on Flickr Anyone know if those stickers came with the book? Edit: L@go confirmed that these stickers are in fact from the idea book. Okay, on to the gratuitous shots of bricks and elements. Keep in mind I'm just sharing photos at this point for anyone interested. I also want to say, this is going to be a long project for me to get these all washed and parted together. I'm thinking that 2013 and into 2014 are going to be light on the Lego purchasing for me. First up, here are all the baseplates (except maybe some very small ones): DSC_0042 by ZeyaV, on Flickr Those are 48x48 light gray baseplates. Do those even get made anymore? They're huge! Also, I'm not sure what the broken plate is on the far right, but it's got to be older, probably from my cousins. I have a dim recollection of snapping it in two as a kid. Lessons learned. On to bags of mostly Pirate stuff: DSC_0013 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0014 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0015 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0016 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0017 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0018 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And now onto Castle, which probably makes up 1/3 of all the bricks. So much gray. DSC_0019 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0020 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0021 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0022 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0023 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0024 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0025 by ZeyaV, on Flickr This is some of that Blacktron and other space stuff: DSC_0027 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And onto some more miscellaneous bags. This is mostly that Basic theme stuff, and I'm hoping the classic space is mixed in there too. DSC_0026 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0027 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0028 by ZeyaV, on Flickr DSC_0029 by ZeyaV, on Flickr And that's all the photos I took. Like I said, I have my work cut out for me. My mom liked to use moth balls, and that stuff stinks pretty bad. It's all going to have to get washed. I know there's a thread here somewhere on how to clean Lego, which I'll read up on again. I plan to wash everything (gonna have to be a dishwasher or clothes washer), and then try and put together every set. I figure some of the really old ones like the Sea Plane and Classic Space sets might be lacking some parts, for which I might turn to Bricklink if it's not too painful. I might also try my hand at writing some reviews for these sets, if that would be welcome. But overall, I'm pretty excited. It's going to be a lot of work, but it should be fun. So what do you guys think? Please share any advice or thoughts.
