    [moc] Autumn in NY

Based on a scene that I stumbled upon on a walk one Autumn day - A 1987 civic parked under a gingko tree collecting leaves The Civic moc is mine from about a year ago, but I reworked it to make the front end one stud shorter than before, I think it looks much better. The techniques are borrowed from a variety of amazing car builders out there I was a bit rushed to get the base done on time for Brickfair Exton, but I was fairly happy with how it came together and the simplicity serves to set up the atmosphere and keep the focus on the overall feeling. And I was honored to win a Brickee for this MOC at BFPA this past September! Feel free to share any comments or questions below!
  4. Hi all, my daughter and I have been building a new Elves Moc - it's taken some time but it's finally ready to share. Sorry about the cropping on some of the pictures - couldn't for the life of me figure out how else to get them to show the right way up Here's 'The Crystal University' A mini version of Naidas Ship - would have liked to have used the clamshell pieces instead of the discs, but they don't come in gold Crystal Cave - this was my daughters idea - she wanted the cave to be a classroom for the students. The Observatory was also my daughter's idea. View from the back. As with our previous MOC, I wanted this to be a playset as well as something pretty to look at. It's fairly sturdy, and the main structure can stand up to little fingers without much problem (not so sure about all the leaves ) Statue of the Goddess of Knowledge (although don't blink, just to be on the safe side )
  5. Systematic mix of a little dose of technic abilities, enthusiasm for biking, and wondering about the flow of time results in the permanent bicycling automaton. Time flows, seasons are changing, and the wheels of the bike go round and round: Turn the crank! It's time for the alliance of Lego system with Lego technic! Support on Lego Ideas! Bicycle, Bicycle, BICYCLE!

    [MOC] Autumn Winery

It's been a while since I've done these kind of semi-diorama models, and thankfully I haven't lost all my touch. Despite "Winery" being in the name, I designed it to look more like a house and it functions as one for the most part as well, but I can assure you that this model is positively alcoholic!! ....just like myself ......(I'm kidding, alcohol tastes weird...) This model is designed to look like a sort of diorama built and glued on top of a round piece of light wood. But to be honest, I can't really tell if it's giving off that look. The build for the trees were inspired from Brother Steven's trees, but I altered some things to make the construction legal. Aside from the trees, there aren't much details on the back, other than some dried leaves and stone paths on the ground. Just wanted to keep things simple. (or maybe that's just an excuse for being lazy to add more stuff.) The only alcoholic part of the model. Which probably puts the alcohol content at 10%. (Mmmmmm... LEGO would not approve..) The increased base height allowed for a cellar to be implemented, but the walls still had to jut a couple of bricks above the ground and even then the wine racks still stick out by a plate high, which posed a challenge when building the floor above as it could have made the house too tall (which would look really weird) I always have the habit of just focusing on the exterior part and then shoehorning the interior at the last part, and that's exactly what I did here. It's probably dumb luck that the interior managed to turn out pretty nice, because I wasn't trying that hard (like going through 10 iterations, I only did 1). The raised kitchen floor was also another accidental idea which happens to work really well. The effects of shoehorning an interior to accommodate the exterior design can really be seen in this floor. The interior turned out alright, but the look of "there isn't enough of space, and I'm just trying to cramp furniture inside" is clearly evident. Although I do think the exposed wooden beams look kinda cool even if it feels a little stuffier. Welp that's about it. As a bit of an additional note, the model contains about 5,949 pieces and measures 60x60 studs. Only bricks in available colors were used, so it's buildable in real life if you have the parts (and instructions...) Even if it takes a bit more effort, it does feel sort of refreshing to have only used existing part colors when designing digitally. 7. Here is a freebuild for Mitgardia! A small scene of everyday life in Horgaard. Falconry was a serious matter in Horgaard. Generations of birds of prey had been raised and trained there : generations of powerful hunting companions, tireless war messengers, and, on at least one occasion, life-saving air fire support. Little Siggi, nine years old, already knew everything about this critical aspect of his education as a young noble. The different kinds of birds, how to handle them, and how to train them. The history of the art of falconry, the evolution of the techniques, and their regional particularities. He even knew the names and stories of all the famous birds raised by his family much better than he knew the names of their owners. However, his falconry knowledge remained desperately theoretical. He had already been allowed to fly a trained kestrel, but the adults considered him too young for a greater bird. Sooner or later, he would train his own mighty eagle. In the meantime, he had much fun handling the lure. As usual, more information on the featured flora/fauna is given in hidden text.
  8. Elves is the favorite Lego series of me and my daughter (6) at the moment and we really love the dragons! We thought that there isn't enough space for the little Babydragons to be all together. So with a little help of Farran and the other elves the Baby dragons got a cozy place in a big tree. There are different levels, either to be alone under a warming flower or to be together with another dragon to have a little chat. On the top of the tree there is a platform, well hidden by special growed thornes and willow branches, to watch over the dale and start some flying games. I hope my buidling isn't too big for this contest. We started with 8x8 but were very inspired and couldn't stop adding leaves because it looked so lovely. I just read, that it shouldn't grow over 8x8. If you think it is not working for the contest just tell me. Then I will just show it as a MOC.

    MOC: Fómhar

Part two on my Four Seasons project: Gel of falling leaves, odor of apple pie in cold air and warm colors in the woods. The idea was to use weaved leaves as a dress. Otherwise this was pretty much designed as I went on. The hat and hair are my favorite parts here - Hats make things always better... 20 or something shots can be found on Cyclopic Bricks. One thing, by the way: Does this belong here or other themes? There are plenty of similar character build on other themes, with more or less movent. Most of the stuff in this MOC is SYSTEM, but then again Mixels belong to this subforum, too... I'm just wondering this because non-Bionicle/HF-people rarely wander into this subforum and I might get some audience in other themes, too.
  10. Hello The famous Castle Neuschwanstein by King Ludwig II. Next to the experiment of some new hairy trees and stairways, this is my second entry to the MocOlympics 2013. More pictures on flickr and MOCpages. (You can find my entry to the first MO round here. ) I hope you like it. Jonas
