  1. Hello everybody! Over in the Lego City 2021 Rumours, information and discussion topic it was reported that the great 60278 Crook's Hideout Raid set was cancelled by Lego. I'm very disappointed about that fact since we finally could have gotten a decent sized crook's hideout plus two more different police vehicles. (The giant brick-built dynamite could easilty have taken off.) I thought it would be the best to open a topic where everybody signs in who wants and would buy this set - and after that beg an admin for sending it to TLG (like we did back in back in 2008 for 4999 - which was in the end very successful). So please leave a comment here in order to let this brilliant set (or a similar one) become real for us! PS: @Crazydance, could you please arrange a general petition in the web (like the successful one back in 2008)? That would be great!
  2. Here is my revamped version of 60278 (the cancelled CITY set called "Crook's Hideout Raid"), modified for use by my WXYZ railroad's Maintenance Of Way (MOW) department, instead of the crooks. Features an oil heater upstairs, railroad track with garage door, skylight on the removable roof, and water tower. The front of the facility. The billboard sign on top's font work was designed by my brother, I just slapped it on a billboard after making it say OCTAN. The back wall, which is now enclosed. The inside, with the upper roof removed. The manger's office is on the second floor. The front office with the break room is on the lower level. The second floor comes off to access this room. The whole modeled disassembled into it's modular components. Here is some of the furniture for the building. It's set in the mid-50's, so the colors and types are my best attempt to match the "look" of the period, with some earlier time-frame items included as well. This early 950's rail mobile is inspired by this fairly recent @hachiroku's build here and by @Cale's pictures of Ma & Pa RR inspection car 101 as seen here. The vehicle is numbered "6", for use on the WXYZ Railroad, and rolls quite well on the track with no problems in stock switches or standard R40 curves. The rear has a license plate and two coverings almost fully obscuring the rear wheels, in true early-'50's style. This model is designed for track inspector's to get up close and personal with the railroad. (Most of the car model is already finished, but two black 2 x 6 tiles for the lower-rear side skirts are haven't arrived yet.) Here we see the other vehicles and figures of the MOW department, from left to right: Bucket truck from set 3179 (Repair truck), dump truck from set 7789 (Lotso's dump truck), drill vehicle from 7936 (level crossing) and front end-loader from set 7630 (front end-loader) Comments, questions, and complaints welcome! EDITED 3/29/21 for major changes to the building, including a removable second floor and reduced building footprint to fit on 32 x 32 baseplate.
