  1. The WTC is proud to announce the release of its newsletter: the "WTC Monthly". Without further ado (click for large readable version):
  2. It was a cloudy day in Mooreton bay as the trial was set to begin. The trial, day 1 by North White, on Flickr Everyone in the town came to see the trial, as there was pretty much nothing else to do that day. The trial, day 1 by North White, on Flickr Tyrell was lead in in chains. The trial, day 1 by North White, on Flickr But Jake Cochran arrived late to the scene, arrogant as always. Said the Courthouse Guard, "wait...." The trial, day 1 by North White, on Flickr Jake knocked the guard's hat off, with a mad cackle. "HEY!" 3. Location: Charlatan Bay Type: Large Factory He air hung heavy with the screams of horses and the scent of blood as Charlatan Bay's most industrial factory worked hard to create a vital product. Horse sausage Factory by North White, on Flickr Horses were brought in on small boats to the edge of Charlatan Bay, where the factory worked hard to process them. The WTC Riff Raft brought in two an hour on a good day. Horse sausage Factory by North White, on Flickr Completed Sausages were smoked in a small smokehouse built on the remains of the captains cabin. Horse sausage Factory by North White, on Flickr But Unfortunately, the Horses had to be sheared and dehoofed before they could be made into sausages, which was the bottleneck of the operation. Horse sausage Factory by North White, on Flickr But, once they were liberated, they could be ground down into sausages. It usually took a bit of prompting to force them into the grinder, but giving them a stiff drink beforehand usually weakened their resolve. Horse sausage Factory by North White, on Flickr And so, box after box of horsausage was made, smoked and shipped off into the colonies. Horse sausage Factory by North White, on Flickr FIN Hope you liked this build everyone. The factory is supposed to be built on a wrecked ship, next to an equally wrecked building, I'm just not sure how clear that is in the pictures. I really had fun with this one, and with all my Charlatan Bay builds in general. It was nice to have a change of atmosphere with my builds. I'll probably license the WTC Riff Raft in the future as a class 0, but I'm usually pretty lazy about doing so. C&C appreciated! Let me know if I should upload better photos as well, It's midnight here, and the light ain't to good.
  4. [Disclaimer: Due to the size of this builds layout and the restrictions of my lightbox I could only do a few limited shots of the whole assembly. Some subassemblies had to be shot on their own. As usual: please excuse my poor photography skills.] It was another sunny day in Mesabi Landing, and the harbour was as busy as always: Some WTC Marines enjoyed a fistfight between two sailors... ... while Gonzo "Drunknok" Thompson just enjoyed a moment of rest and peace (and a bottle of rum): Some had todays work already done... ... and others still had a lot to do: The captain of the "Cranky Parrot" was discussing something with Joe... ... while another sailor was heading straight for the "Blue Dragon" right down the road: === WTC Warehouse One of the WTC Operators is taking stock: "Four Corrington suits, minor blood stains, check. Two pompous Corrie hats, check. Three flags, check. You never know when any of these might come in handy..." " ... one big barrel of beer, check. Two sacks of potatoes, check. One rat guarding the warehouse, check. Six bottles of rum, che... waitaminute! Only five bottles? Oh well, I guess Drunknok needed some inspiration for his newspaper. Fine, five bottles it is then." Harbour Tax Office When Mesabi Landig was founded, one of the first things the Crown set up was an office for the collection of harbour taxes. Little did they know how the WTC would handle things! No doubloons were ever collected here, and over time the building fell into disrepair. The Corrington red is still flying though - order must be upheld! Now the ruins are home to Steven, one of the local crabs. He is the brother of Barney, the bouncer at the "Blue Dragon". WTC Harbour Office . Guarded by two trustworthy (?) WTC Infantry... ... in this building all captains have to register their ships when coming to Mesabi Landing. One of them is doing so right now, while two more are waiting: "Welcome to Mesabi Landing. Your hat looks odd, what is it with the skull and bones?" "Arr, good lady, 'tis my families coat of arms. You see, we are honest to the bone, hence the skull and bones." "I see. For a moment I feared you were a pirate. Please note that piracy will not be tolerated here." "Of course!" "So, what are you trading with?" "Well, artefacts. Mainly made of gold, like these coins." "I see, good. Now we only need your name, and you can continue with your trades." "Umm, I think you want another of our artefacs for further examination." "I see. Mr. Smith, welcome to Mesabi Landing!" ============================================================================================================ Well, that was quite some work. Leaving out the plate with the office of the "WTC Monthly" on it, this build has a footprint of 3072 studs, and will be licensed as a large commercial property for Mesabi Landing. Building the whole thing took me about a month. It is of course modular, while I did not build any structures to support the not-water-plates (being 5 bricks above ground). The harbour sections can easily be rearranged, there are connector holes on the edges for stability. @Ayrlego @Mesabi: Please let me know if you want something to be depicted in any of these builds, for a collab or whatever you want. If not, I will take most of it apart soon. C&C are appreciated.
  5. "Nok, nok, nok..." Gonzo "Drunknok" Thompson walked around in the office of the "WTC Monthly", his peg leg making the familiar sound that gave him the second part of his nickname. The half-full bottle of rum on the table had something to do with the first part. Gonzo was busy getting the latest issue printed. He had the handwritten text in front of him, as well as most of it on the printing plate already. The process of setting up the printing plate took a lot of time, since the text had to be set letter after letter, word after word, out of little blocks of metal each with a negative cut-out of one letter or syllable. A few lines of text were still missing, and he looked for the right letters - luckily they were right next to him in a well sorted shelf. The most common letters had more blocks available in boxes at the top, the least used only had small boxes at the bottom. The finished printing plate was then coated with black ink: It was then put (upside down of course) into the printing press... ... moved over the clean paper and finally mechanically pressed onto the paper: With the printing plate done once, it was now possible to repeat the printing process as often as wanted - simply return the plate, add new ink and fresh paper, press, then start again. The "WTC Monthly" will find its way to every minifig in the Brick Seas - that deserves some more rum. Cheers! =============================================================================================================== A small artisan for Mesabi Landing. More pictures in the spoiler tag: I am not happy with how the building looks from the outside. Usually I like reduced colour palettes, but in this case the result looks like one of those 80s Lego City houses. The inside turned out okay, with a few compromises in terms of realism due to the scale. Obviously the roof is removable, but so is the back wall for even easier access:
  6. Location: Jameston Type: Medium Factory Agnes and a WTC Elite walked to the edge of Jameston, where the new musket factory had opened. They had been told to only build their buildings on the edge of town for reasons everyone knew. Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Two Bored WTC Infantrymen stood in front of the factory. "Woah Woah Woah" Said the First. "We're guarding this building. We don't need any of you elites around!" "Yeah, Scram! We don't take your type here." Said the Second. Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Agnes sighed. "What is it with you grunts? Is someone jealous they aren't called elite?" "No..." Said the first sheepishly. "Good," Said Agnes smugly, "Trooper, stay out here and show them how to guard a building." Agnes entered the building leaving the three soldiers to argue outside. Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr The Foreman greeted her. "Sorry for the delays, countess. We had some trouble constructing the building." "All in good time, mr. foreman. Now, show me how this factory works." "Of course!" Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "First, Metal is pounded into the rough barrel of the gun." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "It's taken over to the furnace, where it's heated, sealing the cracks." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "Once it's been forged, we let it cool over here." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "Meanwhile, we assemble the flintlock mechanism." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "Additionally, the stock is cut out of wood." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "And the musket is assembled." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "Then we just package them." Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "You see, we run an efficient and productive factory here in Jameston. And now that we're operational..." Agnes cut the foreman off. Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "Now that the factory is operational, I can put you out of your misery and put one of Mordo's men in charge." Said Agnes, with a rare smile. "Did you just pull those out of the box there? Because those aren't loaded..." The foreman said calmly. Musket Factory by North White, on Flickr "Damnit." FIN Thanks for viewing my latest factory! I hope to get one more out before the month ends. I'll take my 200 Dbs, thank you. C&C appreciated. I hope this is accurate enough for musket production. I'm not entirely sure how the barrels were made, so that part might be a bit off.
  7. Location: Charlatan Bay Type: Medium Factory The WTC had not been well received in Charlatan Bay. The Sight of the massive WTC Judgement had been regarded with disdain. But the WTC had a mission, to establish factories in the Colony. The First had been built by detonating a bunch of explosives in a small cave to enlarge it. There, the WTC worked on a new product. But all was not well. A drunken captain walked up the causeway to the factory, looking for blood. Pants factory by North White, on Flickr "Yah bloody bastards think you can force yer way into Charlatan after what Tyrell did? Well I think not." Said the angry, drunken captain. "Sir, please, we're not looking for trouble." Said the WTC Elite Guard. "Well Mr. Pistol Says you need to go away! Ain't that right Mr. Pistol?" Said the Captain "WTC needs to die!" Said the Captain in a falsetto Pants factory by North White, on Flickr The Elite Sighed. The Captain Cocked his gun. Pants factory by North White, on Flickr It took a quick slash of the blade to knock him back... Pants factory by North White, on Flickr Pants factory by North White, on Flickr Pants factory by North White, on Flickr "Now GET!" Yelled the Elite Pants factory by North White, on Flickr The Sea Rats dropped their remaining weapons and fled in a panic. Pants factory by North White, on Flickr Inside, work continued on the pants. Pants factory by North White, on Flickr Cloth was cut, and sewn into pants. They were piled, and then shipped. Far simpler than most factories. Pants factory by North White, on Flickr And Extra explosives were kept on hand in case of "emergency..." FIN Thanks for viewing my first reparation factory for Charlatan Bay. I read up on the colony, and really liked the idea of the tall cliffs feature of the island. So, I decided to build a cliffside factory, which probably hasn't been done recently. @Kwatchi said I couldn't have my Elites killing anyone (Even in self defense apparently ) So I hope this is a fair compromise. Technically, This is a part of lowtown, though I'd say it's about halfway up the cliff. Storywise I'm happy with it, though I don't think this will make my top 10. C&C appreciated! More pictures.
  8. Hear Ye Hear Ye! Captain Tyrell, Rogue WTC Captain, has been detained by Corrish forces in Moorington Bay. His trial is due to commence soon, as allowed by Corrington's Laws. Corrish Law allows for a trial of the Accused's Peers, which is any seafaring Captain on the Brick Seas (I. E. You!) So, We are accepting applications for Jurors in the trial Please Post in this thread. Please post a character picture for your juror, a name, and a ship for them. I'd recommend not using a main story character. The Court trial date is tentatively set for the 20th. Stay Tuned to this topic for updates! Court Docket: Charges: Piracy, violation of Sovereign Treaties, Assault on Corish Officers, Improper Ship Docking Presiding Judge: TBA Prosecutor: TBA Defendant: Captain Tyrell @Mesabi Defense Attorney: Jake Cochran @Mesabi Jurors: TBA Defense Witnesses: Captain Cristoph Tyrell (Icarus Returning) @Mesabi Captain Caroline Carolina (Beacon) @Mesabi First Mate Frederick Hammers @Drunknok Allen Landon, Bank of Corrington Officer @Bregir @Bregir Hope I'm not overstepping my bounds here. But I thought this would be a good topic to make.
  9. The Wayfarer Trading Company has very unique uniforms. Curious for each rank? Use this handy guide! WTC Captains WTC forces by North White, on Flickr Dressed in Clean, dark tan uniforms, WTC captains wear a Bicorne. Each WTC captain commands a ship and her crew. Currently the WTC's Vessels are: WTC Aurora Class 2 WTC Copperhead Class 3 WTC Icarus Returning Class 6 WTC Beacon Class 4 WTC Infantry WTC forces by North White, on Flickr The WTC's Infantry was created to relieve the burden of the Marines, who beforehand filled all around roles for the WTC. The WTC Infantry does general guard work, and defends their land installations. WTC Marines WTC forces by North White, on Flickr The WTC Marines are the backbone of the WTC. Trained in combat, resource procurance, and shipmanship, the WTC Marines fill all sorts of roles within the organization. WTC Elites WTC forces by North White, on Flickr The highest ranking combat soldiers of the WTC belong here. Highly skilled in combat, they make sure no foreign power or trade corporation will ever harm the WTC. WTC Specialists WTC forces by North White, on Flickr WTC's specialists fill roles that regular soldiers cannot, such as snipers, translators, and assassins. WTC Operators WTC forces by North White, on Flickr Not all combat is physical! WTC's Operators consist of salesmen, lawyers, and upper level managers. They might be more cutthroat than the elites, however. These are the WTC's forces as of October, 617 iuxta imperium C&C appreciated, the elites aren't quite finished, I need more brown arm things, and they will have red feathers in their caps.
  10. Location: Mesabi Landing Tags: Small Commerce Yet another warehouse by North White, on Flickr Mesabi Landing had to store all the stuff it ascertained. But it was also a popular place for the WTC infantry to slack off... FIN C&C appreciated, Nothing big or interesting today. Just a quick build to help me build up Mesabi Landing.
  11. Location: Jameston Type: Medium Factory Agnes angrily stomped all the way over to the next WTC factory Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr Pete Zanzibar stood outside. "Madam Mesabi! Have you come to inspect our factory!" Asked Pete Excitedly "This the Gunpowder one or the Bottle one?" Asked Agnes "The Gunpowder one, madam." Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "Perfect, just the one I was looking for. And let me remind you, I'm not drunk, I just drank enough to keep my nerves steady." Said Agnes. She dropped the two muskets by some empty barrels. "Well, I'll just show you inside, so you can see everything!" Said Pete, nervously Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "Gunpowder is made of three ingredients. Sulfur, Saltpeter, and Charcoal. We have to import in the Sulfur, but the other to ingredients are manufactured here." Pete Paused. "But, unfortunately, we have to have a Corrington officer to watch everything for safety reasons." Said Pete. "Hey now! Let's see you do this job as well as I do." Said the Corrish Officer Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "All you do is tell us how much of each ingredient gets dumped in a barrel from that cheat sheet!" Yelled Pete back "Yeah, but I'm certified to read the cheat sheet. Are you?" Said the Officer Smugly. "No... Moving on. We dump barrels of Urine into sand to make saltpeter." Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "So that's what that smell is..." Muttered Agnes. "Yes, that reminds me can we build a scented candle factory next? Or perfume?" Asked Pete. "I'll think about it." said Agnes, rolling her eyes. "Next, we make charcoal. We do this in that room over there." Pete motioned to a small room off to the side of factory. Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "And finally, we combine the sulfur, the saltpeter, and the charcoal, in a big vat." Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "And we just take the powder out and put in buckets." Finished Pete. "Great great great... Can I borrow some?" Asked Agnes drunkenly. "Why?" Asked Pete. "Agnes needs to go shoot someones." Agnes burped loudly. Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr "Uh, I guess... I don't think we have that caliber of ammunition here though, we're using a different type for the advanced rifles." Agnes sighed loudly. "Why is everything so hard!" Gunpowder Factory by North White, on Flickr She kicked open the door, and left in a huff. FIN Thanks for viewing my third factory of the month. I tried to recreate the process of making gunpowder to the best of what the internet says. Hopefully it looks different enough then the last one I did. I made this one bigger and tried to fill the area fully. @Ayrlego I could probably build one more for Jameston to license. I'd really like to do a Musketball factory to end the story arc. As usual, C&C appreciated.
  12. Location: Kings Harbor Type: Minichallege The End of the Cocovia Wagon was in Kings Harbour, built by the WTC, who had first dibs on unloading their ships. Loading dock by North White, on Flickr The WTC Beacon sat docked next to the pier, a boarding ramp attached. Loading dock by North White, on Flickr The Crew looked on in confusion. "How is this more effieicent then just sailing around the island?" Asked the lookout. "Look at my hat!" Said the first mate Loading dock by North White, on Flickr Loading dock by North White, on Flickr The multi car horse drawn carriage was loaded, and drawn away, off to quinsville Loading dock by North White, on Flickr FIN Thanks for viewing my entry to the railway. It's 48x48, or 2,304 studs. Most of which is water. And a prebuilt ship. So, uh, if it doesn't qualify, I'll understand. C&C appreciated!
  13. Named after a bird following the ship since shortly after it was put into service, the "Cranky Parrot" is a small vessel built for trade. Despite its unarguably grumpy character, the parrot has always brought luck to its namesake, which is currently sailing to Mesabi Landing. Soon to be under the command of the WTC, the "Cranky Parrot" might need all the luck it can get. Multiple elements can be removed: The anchor chain can be released.... ... and also be re-attached. ========================================================================================================= This will be my free class 2. I used a cog as a reference. The "blocky" design with this one is intentional, I will work with hinges and smoother hulls with other ships. @Mesabi: This will soon be nominally under WTC control. We have discussed this, just give the orders.
  14. Location: Belson Tags: Ship Having been launched and loaded, the WTC Judgement Sat majestically in Belson's harbour. WTC Judgement by North White, on Flickr On the Bow were four chase guns, ready to blow the hell out of anything that tried to escape. WTC Judgement by North White, on Flickr The Figurehead held the scales of justice, and a sword, ready to judge all that crossed the WTC WTC Judgement by North White, on Flickr The Judgement was crewed by the WTC's finest, the WTC elites. WTC Judgement by North White, on Flickr She was captained by Captain Gage, a veteran of the Juniper Wars, and a staunch supporter of the WTC. WTC Judgement by North White, on Flickr The Ship had both a captain's cabin and a map room, each lit my large stained glass windows. WTC Judgement by North White, on Flickr And she was ready to take to the seas.... FIN Well, thanks for viewing my latest build. I haven't had a lot of time lately, and I've spent it touching up this fine ship. She also has a fairly decent interior as well, but I lack the parts to properly furnish it. In game, she has 20 cannons, though I only have 12 ATM. Maybe I'll spend more dough so she can be more accurate. Hmmmm..... I also need to add the sails, I just wanted to get this up for the time being. The Judgement is a Class 7 and her stats are: Range =4 Maneuver =2 Firepower =8 Crew =5 Cargo =1 Hull =7 Total Used =27 @Bregir tried to make me make her more accurate, but he failed, and I kinda just made it how I wanted. Overall, I'm very happy with how she turned out, and I can't wait to build another one. I can in no way, shape or form license or operate this ship, so I think she'll be the story only ship of Agnes. But I'm not sure, as if I build a couple large factories, I could probably afford her.
  15. Location: Jameston Type: Medium Factory The Sepoys of Jameston eyed the new factory suspiciously. They had heard the stories of the WTC, and their exploits. The WTC Infantryman eyed the horse hungrily. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr Inside the factory, Pete Zanzibar observed the workers. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr Glass was made by melting sand into a gooey hot pulp, and gathered on a pipe. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr The blob of glass was put into a mould made out of a barrel. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr A worker would then blow into the pipe, turning the blob of glass into a bottle. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr After the bottles were cooled, the mould pieces were removed, and the bottles placed in crates. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr The large crates were loaded into a cart. Bottle factory by North White, on Flickr As Zanzibar walked towards the exit he muttered to himself. "We are literally robbing the crown of Corrington with these economic incentives. Pity this had to be built at the edge of the world though. Her sister factories will make this the manufacturing capital of the new world. But it'll be a pain to ship the goods. Yes sir, it'll be a pain to ship the goods." FIN Thanks for viewing my build! Sorry for the radio silence lately. This was going to go in Mesabi Landing, but I need the cash, so Jameston I guess. C&C appreciated!
  16. The WTC Beacon, and WTC Icarus Returning was only an hour out of Mesabi Landing when a lookout spotted something WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Two ships on the horizon flying black flags. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr The lookout scrambled down the ladder in alarm. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Captain Carolina sat in her cabin. The Lookout burst in. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr "Captain! We've got two ships on our tail! And they don't look friendly." Captain Carolina frowned. "Get the semaphore to call out the Icarus. Captain Tyrell is in charge here. He'll tell us what to do." WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr There was a frenzy of activity on the deck. Men and women ran down the ship. The Semaphore stood on the front of the deck, and began calling out signs. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr S...H...I...P...S...2....E...N...E...M...Y...! The Relay was passed to Captain Tyrell aboard the Icarus Returning "Pirates! It's about time the WTC taught them a lesson. Not that they've ever really messed with us before, but I want to blow stuff up." Said Captain Tyrell BoC Officer Allen Landon responded. "Uh, is that a good idea? If we lose the battle, the Bank of Corrington would lose money?" "Is that all you care about old man? You sound like an Eslandolan. We're the WTC. We fight back! Bring her around boys! And also Girls!" The signaller from the Icarus responded to the Beacon WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Both ships made sharp turns and faced the two pirates. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Captain Tyrell and Landon walked on deck. "Alright! Let's give those guys a healthy broadside!" Yelled Captain Tyrell Both ships began firing WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr "Report?" Yelled Tyrell "Looks like some damage to their upper deck. They're gearing up to fire!" WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr The ship took a barrage of fire. Explosions hit several decks. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr "Fire Again!" Yelled Tyrell The crew rushed across the deck to put out the flames. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr "Blast! This ain't working!" Yelled Tyrell, as part of the forecastle collapsed. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr "We're hopelessly outgunned!" Yelled Landon "Maybe if you guys had made your ships firepower focused instead of using jack of all trade stats, you could beat them!" "Quit rubbing it in! Pull her around! Telegraph the Beacon, We're going to make a run for it!" WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr The Lifeboat snapped off as the ship turned. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Both enemy ships kept firing as the Icarus and the Beacon made a break for it. "Well, that wasn't so bad. Was it?" Asked Captain Tyrell WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Then the deck collapsed from structural damage. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr But despite the massive damage to the Icarus Returning Both ships survived and escaped. WTC versus the Pirates by North White, on Flickr Tune in next time, the Bank of Corrington tries to imprison the poor WTC's ships! FIN Thanks for viewing everyone. I'm home from college/university this week, so I was able to use these ships in a build, which was pretty lucky. What's it going to take for me to lose a ship though? I really want to lose one of them, so I can rebuild it. C&C appreciated, as usual.
  17. Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Small Plantation It was a slightly cooler, but not really because it was still hot, day in Mesabi Landing. A new building had been erected, a plantation house next to some fields. Poppy Plantation by North White, on Flickr Outside, existing Poppies were being harvested, while the sandy soil of Argentia was dug up, revealing more rich soil below. Poppy Plantation by North White, on Flickr Inside, Agnes inspected the house. A large drying rack where poppies sat waiting was on the upper floor. Finished product was packaged below. "...Of course Lady Mezabi, we must keep this area guarded. This stuff is addictive you know." Said Pete Zanzibar. A horticultural expert hired by the WTC "That's precisely why we're selling it, Mr. Zanzibar. But is this the most effective way? I've heard stories of procuring substances, more efficiently..." Siad Agnes "If we had the resources, we would make incisions in the fruit, and drain the sap. But alas, we only are capable of drying it, for later use. However, the market for the crop is currently barren. The New World has little to no plantations. So you will make a fortune!" Pete opened the chest, revealing three large Poppy husks. Poppy Plantation by North White, on Flickr "That's it?" Asked Agnes incredulously "That is a month's profit. 5 Db for the whole chest. And of course, the chest itself, which has a miniscule cost which you must subtract, because you must import the chest, and get rid of the chest." Said Mr. Zanzibar. Poppy Plantation by North White, on Flickr "Load it up. I want this shipped immediately. The Mesabi name is going through some financial struggles, but Mesabi Landing can easily afford paying off the property." Said Agnes. "I want everyone in the new and old world begging for a taste of our 'medicine'" FIN Thanks for viewing my latest build. It's been a busy month for me in BoBS. And I think @Phred is going to come yell at me for being in the red on my Mesabi account. @Bregir, you did transfer that 250, right? Anyways, this will be licensed by Mesabi Landing. At this point I've realized that Opium isn't the plant of Argentia, but I still want a plantation of it here, because, well, opium addicts. I'm not sure if I can have morphine production, that was 1804, on the tail end of our reference point, but then again, British Opium wars of the 1820s, so maybe. I'm not sure how accurate drying out Opium poppies is, wikipedia says that they just cut into them, and drain the sap, but I saw this reference photo, and went off of that. Those actually might be pots now that I think about it. I ordered parts for Agaves for my next plantation. You can see the one I built with existing parts in the Lower left of my first photo. Let me know what you think. C&C appreciated, as always.
  18. Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Freebuild After touring the factory, Agnes decided to finally investigate the claims of " succulents introduced to this island from further east bears sap ten times sweeter than sugar cane." She took one of the few remaining horses on the Island, and rode southeast, until she came upon a strange plant. The Sweetest Fruit by North White, on Flickr She dismounted, and began flipping through her book on Horticulture. The Sweetest Fruit by North White, on Flickr She found an entry that matched the description. Papaver somniferum, Commonly known as Opium Poppies, these flowers bear large fruit that can be used as painkillers, or a recreational substance. Realizing the market potential of a "recreational substance," she took a sample of seedlings, and rode away, with nothing but profit on her mind. The Sweetest Fruit by North White, on Flickr FIN Hi everyone, Thanks for viewing my build. Yes, it isn't very detailed, but I just wanted to do a quick introductory build for the next part of Agnes's story. So, I'm going to ask the Leadership here, ( @Bregir, @Kolonialbeamter, @Legostone, and @Capt Wolf) Can the "Succulent 10 times sweeter than sugar cane" be opium? Because I really want to be a drug czar, for one, and when I first read the description, I was like, oh this is totally opium. If not, please suggest what the mystery crop of the island is because I have no idea what it is if it's not Opium. If it ain't opium, I'll change the story accordingly. Take this as me asking for permission, instead of going ahead and having to ask for forgiveness, like I usually do. Anyways, I would like to start building Plantations in Mesabi Landing, so I'd like to know what the crop is. Again, thank you, and C&C appreciated.
  19. Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Medium Factory With the Count Away on some half baked adventure, it was up to Agnes to keep the peace in Mesabi Landing. Today, she toured the New Cannon Foundry. The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "So, give me a tour of this place." She said unhappily. It was hot outside, and hotter in the Foundry. "Yes of course, countess." Said the foreman, John Slader. The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "First, we make a mold of a cannon with a sand clay mixture. We usually use a MAESTRO cannon for the mold, and engrave 'WTC' On it." Said John "Good to hear you're using the WTC's business model." Replied Agnes. The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "Next, we burn wood to melt the iron." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "We melt down iron for the cannons. Usually we use iron pellets, but any old iron will work." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "The melted iron is poured into the mould, which is mounted on these rails." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "We move the mold out of the the way, and let it cool." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "Once the mould has cooled, we remove it from the cart, and take it outside. Afterwards, another mould is attached to the cart, and iron poured in." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "The Cannon is chipped out of the mould." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "Finally, the Cannon is mounted, and it is slowly turned into a chisel, hollowing out the inside. Once that's finished, it's brought to another factory for the mounting." The Foundry by North White, on Flickr "Impressive set up!" Said Agnes, unusually impressed. "Thank you!" Said John. FIN Thanks for viewing my build for a factory in Mesabi Landing! I took everything from a "How it's made" video. It is a medium build, it might not look it, but it has 1024 studs total, which equals 32x32. C&C appreciated!
  20. Location: Madin Tags: Freebuild Madin was a busy city, far busier than any of the new world settlements. Merchants lined the streets selling all matters of goods. Brimstone, Pistols, and Pineapples were sold on this street, in front of a small building. A fine day in Tellvok by North White, on Flickr The Count and two marines walked through the crowds, past the loud cries of the merchants. A fine day in Tellvok by North White, on Flickr Dearest Agnes, Sorry for leaving Mesabi Landing with absolutely no warning. I think you know why I left. Don't try to follow me. I'll be back soon. Madin is cool. These Tellvokians put even MAESTRO to shame. They sell everything here. Not that I'm bringing you anything. Anyways, Bye. -Count Mesabi FIN Thanks for viewing this small vinaigrette. I just wanted to show a little of what I see Tellvok as. I'm not going to call it a great, well built build. But I'm happy with my fig posing, and choice. C&C appreciated, though y'all never seem to comment on my stuff....
  21. "As you guessed, Tristan, I'm in serious troubles" replied the Varcoastan consul. "I'll go straight to the point: somebody is organizing a conspiracy to seize power in Varcoast, murder our king and the ones loyal to him (among which me), strenghten his position with a great victory aganist Oleon and create his own empire, whatever the consequences for my country and for the peace in the New World." "Uhm, this could indeed be a problem! First of all, are you absolutely sure about that?" "Unfortunately, I am. What we know cost the life of the man we could infiltrate and of two of my best agents, found with their throat cut..." "...As you know, King Friedrich of Varcoast is becoming old and, since he doesn't have a direct heir, the crown will be inherited by his cousin Wilhelm. Nothing of too unusual, but several men of the Court don't approve his foreign policy ideas." Continued Alexander. "His wife is an Oleander noblewoman, and he is a personal friend of King Philip, isn't he?" "Exactly. Moreover, our current Prime Minister, head of the anti-Oleander fringe, and Wilhelm despise each other and, as soon as the latter will become king, the former woud be immediately fired." "Since the Prime Minister, Ludwig von Altenburg, is King's Friedrich most trusted man, and has always been completely loyal to the Crown, he is considered above any suspicion; his power and his ambition, however, have enormously grown, and he will never accept to lose his position." "Even if it entails a coup d'ètat?" "There's no doubt about that. We discovered that he has become the leader of a group of officers, noblemen and rich merchants, who will probably receive money and estates, but only crumbles of real power, assuming that rattlesnake will not execute them for treason after he takes the power. According to our infiltrate, their plan is to assassinate king Friedrich and accuse Wilhelm and the Oleander government of the murder." "Clever move, since we would obiouvsly intervene. Anyway, this would be a complete suicide: Varcoastan army is at most a third of Oleander one, not to mention better weapons, artillery and training: even if the Prime Minister had all the soldiers and officers on his side, and I doubt about that, in a couple of months we woud break your army and enter your capital city... sorry for my frankness!" "No problem. They would have a chance only dividing your army, with groups of Marderians deserters or something like that, absolutely not mercenaries paid by Varcoast attacking your colonies, and only later deploying Varcoastan regular troops, reinforced by volunteers, where and when they could win." "But even so they could at most win the first battle! And knowing their plans we could ignore their diversion, temporarily lose an island or two and directly invade Varcoast... sorry again for my frankness, but your army would be annihilated!" Father Costantinus, silent until that moment, replied: "Your analysis is correct, monsieur Rimbaud, but what would happen if Corrington supported our enemies? We could only defend ourselves, but surely not attack at ease." "Of course this would turn the table! But what would justify that course of action of the Corries? Our relations are normalising, and we would intervene to defend ourselves and to restore the legitimate government, surely not to conquer Varcoast! What would lead them to an act of aggression?" "For example, the explosion of a Corlander ship with most of its crew..." N.B. Before part 2 is published: no Corlander will be involved in treasons, plots or other unpleasant things; no Corlander will be hurt, except the ones disintegrated with the Wolf's Blood
  22. Location: Weelond Type: Small Artisan Weelond stopover by North White, on Flickr The Crew of the WTC wandered the streets of the festive Weelond, home of the Oktoberfest. Brought about by some ancient tradition, minifigs from around the world traveled to Weelond to eat Pretzels, and get hopelessly drunk. Street venders sold all sorts of goods, But several members of the WTC found refuge on the roof of the bar their beloved leader was visiting. Weelond stopover by North White, on Flickr "Look, I know you're holding back. You were there, you can tell me what happened. So tell me what happened, Fatsidro." Said the Count Angrily. "I've alheady told you evyhing I know." Said Isidro, visibly annoyed. "I met you hih as a couhtisy." Said Isidro "What else do you know about the group? Even a Pawn knows somewhat of what's going on." Asked the Count Weelond stopover by North White, on Flickr "Not much I just was hihed to hihe a guy who hihed Thaum. I know not even theh name. But it is they who dehstoyed the Wolf's Blood." "And?" "If you come afta them, they will dehstoy you as well." He checked the scene nervously. "And they have eyes and eahs evhywhehe." Weelond stopover by North White, on Flickr "Well, if they can hear me, then I say bring it!" Said the Count FIN Thanks for viewing my oktoberfest entry. I don't think I emanated the Dutch style well enough but whatever. It used all my colourful bricks. C&C Appreciated

  24. Location: Mesabi Landing Type: Medium Residence Darby Tyler walked towards the Mesabi Residence, It was a beautiful day, and the sun shone bright above Mesabi Landing. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr He walked past the two Mesabi Children playing with swords, no doubt looted from somewhere. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr He Passed Sgt. Sally, who was reading a newspaper. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr He Passed a fight between an Oleon soldier, and Corrington one. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr At Last, he reached the door to the Mesabi residence. Suddenly, a gunshot was heard. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr He looked up to see Agnes Mesabi killing a Sea Gull. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr The Sea Gull fell to the ground with a plop. Darby sighed. He had already eaten Sea Gull Soup twice that week. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr Agnes leaped from the roof. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr She landed next to Darby. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr She took a swig from her bottle. "Dinner will be in an hour! Sea Gull Soup!" She said drunkenly. "Yay." Said Darby. "Is the Count inside?" "Yup! She said, and sauntered off to watch the fight. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr Darby entered the Mesabi Residence, and walked through the kitchen. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr Count Mesabi sat with Sgt. Eric, and the Saboteur. "Well, you did put in an effort. That at least should be rewarded." Said Count Mesabi "Thank you!" Said Sgt. Eric Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr "Even though you came to me with nothing, and it was complete luck that the Saboteur was brought to me. I mean the natives only come here for the fruit." "Ummm." Said Sgt. Eric "But since you're here, let's get this guy to talk!" Said Count Mesabi "No! Please!" Said the now clothed Saboteur, "Anything but that! make him go away, he's an animal!" "Why don't you leave, Sgt. Eric. You'll be paid by someone. I think you're services are no longer needed." Said the Count. Mesabi Residence by North White, on Flickr Sgt. Eric quickly left. "Darby! What are you doing here?" Asked Count Mesabi "Dmitri was getting on my nerves again. He kept going on about the 'Papaver somniferum' on the island. Whatever that means." Said Darby "Weird. But we have a conundrum. This man isn't the saboteur. The Saboteur was hired by a man named Thuam, and this man knows nothing." "Huh." Said Darby "So the question is, what do we do with him..." FIN Thanks for viewing my latest build! This one has been on my shelf for a month, while I waited for the minichallenge to wrap up. So, uh, no excuses this time. Extra Pics Here are my thoughts on everyone's entries. @Bodi, Sorry if I've marginalized your characters to much in this build. you really put a lot of work into the challenge, and I liked your builds. I really liked how you used Count Mesabi too. @Professor Thaum, would have liked to have seen you make it to Mesabi Landing. Your story left a lot of unanswered questions. I always like Collabing with you though. @Bregir Herlock Sholmes was an interesting character, but you should have made him an opium addict, like his source character. I might have to change that for you. . Your builds were great, however, and very nice. @Keymonus Your build was really the most creative. I hadn't even thought of using Varcoast or a NPC nation! Bravo! @Maxim I Good job integrating the WTC's shenanigans into the Challenge. I really liked your build too. Oh! And I'm feeling nice today, so I think I'll add a participation prize to 3rd, 4th, and 5th place. I'll each build you a small property of your choosing in a settlement of your choosing, so long as you PM me by November. Expect Shenanigans!
  25. Part 3 and final part of my entry, hope it's not too late. The day when sergent Eric and his men were arrived at Mesabi's Landing, they were invited to dinner by the Count Mesabi. At the table, Eric was petrified to find the saboteur! - "How...how can it be...why he's here?" Asked sergent Eric. - "Relax, sergent, let me introduce you the King Carrot Karuta, his men have found in jungle this fellow, who was hidden under some leaves, they thought he was one of my marines, lost in the jungle, since I and Karuta are good friends, he made his men to bring this energumen to me." Said Count Mesabi. - And he said he is the saboteur? - Of course not, but I know the saboteur was hidding in the jungle, when Karuta and his men brought him to me, I immediately realized that he is the one we are looking for, and your reaction confirmed my suspicion. - Very well, looks you were luckier than us, thumbs up. - Now, mr.Saboteur, I'm offering you two choices, one, we continue to act like civilised men and you tell me who is behind the explosion, or the second choice, I'll let our sergent here to "interrogate" you, again.
