    [K - A08] The Landship

Tags: Exploration, vehicle Planet: A08 Crentium [image heavy post - this is an involved model with a lot to show. Consider yourself warned!] After a long day's hiking, Commander Turtle and Dr. Killjoy make camp. "Did you collect enough samples, Dr. Killjoy?" "I did. By the way, call me Fabian." "Call me Commander." "..Yes, Commander." *rumble* "Did you feel that?" "What on Orinshi is that?" "Hi Commander! This is Noa." "She's massive!" "...Noa is our new robotics engineer, and she also has the training to operate the Landship." "Hello, Co-" "The Landship? Is that what it's called? It's so cool!" "Did you read the memorandum I sent you at all?" "Why don't I show everyone around?" "This is cargo hold, although we have created a small science bay here. On the left are the crew bunks." "This is the lead bedroom." "This is the driving seat. I will be your driver." "No, I will drive." "Commander, it requires a 10 week training course at the highest level." "Oh, nonsense, I've played videogames with bigger vehicles. How hard can it be?" "Oh hi, Commander!" "The control room lets us support you much better on missions. We'll be sending more drones too, as Noa is specialised in that." "This is the hanger crane with the Hummingbird Mk II." "The crane controls, you can do a full 360 with it. It should help with launching. And that concludes the tour!" "Excellent. Where the devil is Fabian?" "Aren't you a little cutie? Yes you are! You sure are!" The full Landship: Spoiler contains more shots that aren't from minifig POV! Plus commentary: Hope you enjoyed this! I certainly enjoyed building it!
  2. Location: B05 - Marphacia Tags: Vehicle, Exploration, Military Endor and his team had been sent to Marphacia to explore the options Kawashita had to set up a base there. Knowing that most of the planet was swampland, the team packed a lot of hover equipment. Endor and Jack Harkness had been tasked with testing out the new proto-type bot named the Armadillo. It was the perfect exo-suit for inhospitable planets where small vehicles were the most convenient to use. It was able to roll up into a protective shell if the environment was too hostile. One of the explorers on the team, Kirk, decided he didn't want to wait until the Armadillo had been tested and took a group of "Red-Shirts" as his band of friends had been dubbed. They found out pretty fast that the swamp was no place to go without proper protection as the native flora was slightly deadly. A few of the team focused on training with their respective weapons. A gentleman who went by the name of "Cloud" was training with his buster sword against Hiro. Valentine occupied herself with setting up targets via remote control for Rose Tyler to shoot down. This team of elite Kawashitites would show the planet Marphacia that it was no match for them. One way or another they would find the best way to colonize the planet. OoC: This was my first time using a new DSLR that I got. I'm still getting used to the camera so some of the pictures turned out a little blurrier than I wanted. In time my photography will get back to what it was before, and then hopefully continue to improve!

    [M-A04] MANTIS Mining Base

Location: A04-Mynderis Tags: Building, Vehicle Job: Explorer My next assignment for M.A.N.T.I.S. was a hot one. They wanted me to get some lava samples from Mynderis for them to analyze. I wasn't too enthused by the idea, until I was told I would get to use the MES (Mini Exo-Suit), which was too good an offer to refuse. I took the samples next to a recently constructed Awesomnium mining base, which was in full swing. More pictures here: Link C&C welcome

    [M-F02] Underwater Plunder

Location: Lesser Drigo, F02 Tags: Vehicle, Piracy Job: Driver Start Log: For once I had two missions in a row on the same planet, though this time I got to use the MW-4 Mech to do some underwater pilfering. The MTD's that Double D had snuck into Octan's water purification plant had given us the location of several other Octan water filtering devices. It was an easy matter to access some of the shallower locations, and then use my mech's powerful arm to grab some Octan machinery. I'm sure our scientists will enjoy tinkering with it, and when they're done, MANTIS will have a pre built water purifying system. The MW-4 mech features moving legs, a working claw and missile launcher. It was fun using a bunch of assorted parts in 4 different blues for the landscape. C&C welcome

    Dodge Challenger from Mad Max

A realistic model of the famous Dodge Challenger from the 70s. It made appearance in blockbusters like Fast and Furious and most recently - Mad Max.
  6. Location: B05 - Marphacia Tags: Vehicle Voice Log of Mister S: "Kara Scel's special forces expertise actually helped me more than I expected. While I have extensive knowledge of tech capabilities and structural limitations, Kara has first hand knowledge of combat scenarios and strategies I had never thought of. Honestly, in hindsight, I don't know why I hadn't thought to request the input of a special forces expert myself. I suppose my overconfidence in my own abilities got the best of me. Well the short of it is, without Kara, I would have had a hard time coming up with this fantastic new design, and most definitely not within the deadline. Gotta say Kara is amazing! I have once again been summoned to a holographic meeting with one of Kawashita's top executives, most likely Akito again. I am confident in a better outcome this time around." A few hours later- Akito Kawashita: I have taken a look at your new design and am impressed. Mister S: I knew you would be sir. I must inform you that Kara is to be credited for a good portion of the design. Akito Kawashita: Yes, of course. It is now time to test the Tarantula HAM in the field. We have a few operations going on the planet of Marphacia. We want M.A.N.T.I.S to think that we are trying to sabotage their efforts there but in reality we have no interest in the planet at all. A few days ago we got intel of the location of the leaders of a M.A.N.T.I.S guerrilla unit that is a high level threat, not only to Kawashita, but to the entire Galactic Council. The unit is led by Thomas Terabyte, a top level M.A.N.T.I.S. programmer, and Anna Toxita, a Council bio-scientist whom Thomas recruited into the M.A.N.T.I.S corporation. Our agents have recovered data that indicates the two are in the process of staging a massive attack but the target has not been identified. Two hours ago, one of our probes identified both Thomas and Anna on Marphacia. We are sending the best retrieval team we have and you will be their heavy munitions support. Kara will be commanding the squad from the Kameko. Mister S: Oh wow! I finally will get to meet Koro! Akito Kawashita: No. Koro is not on attached to this mission. Mister S: But I thought you said the best retrieval team we had??? Akito Kawashita: Koro indeed may be our best agent, but he prefers to go solo. Besides, we need both Thomas and Anna alive and sending Koro in would only raise our chances of them ending up dead. Koro has another directive more suited to his specialty. I understand that the Tarantula HAM has advanced identification software. I am sending you a copy of the latest photograph we have Thomas and Anna taken about two years ago before they went off the grid. Seems that Thomas had programmed a drone to take their picture at one of the great falls on Hunstun. However great a programmer he is, he evidently is no photographic expert as the picture is very grainy. But you can easily identify them from it. If you come across them, do not kill them. Go get packed and be ready to board the Kameko. It leaves in an hour. This meeting is now over. [Transmission Incoming] And a few more hours later- Voice Log of Mister S: "The mission was not a success. While we managed to save a few local species who M.A.N.T.I.S were collecting to send back to their labs, we did not manage to locate Thomas and Anna. However it is likely that all M.A.N.T.I.S. personnel have now withdrawn from Marphacia as they all ran like Godzilla was chasing them when they saw me coming in the Tarantula."

    [O - F02] - Driver's ED

Location: F02 Lesser Drigo Tags: Science, Octan, Civil, Vehicle, Ground Vehicle // PERSONAL DIARY // I filed my report about the data I had collected and requested to return to the Axle to personally debrief with Dr. Long. But she said that I was needed on neighboring Lesser Drigo. She felt like we needed a scientific presence after most of the first hand reports of Jurin II from Octan Corp personnel amounted to how warm the water was and how smooth the sand was. I, of course, was honored to be selected. I requested a GMB-02 mobile lab, but she said there were none available. I then suggested a GMM-04 mech suit, but again there were none. She assured me that a suitable vehicle would be located for my use. I knew with the importance of my mission she'd find the proper conveyance. It was a surprise to find myself driving an Octan off-road race truck. At first I thought there was some mistake, but the supplymaster who gave it to me assured me it wasn't. I then realized what was happening: Dr. Long was crafty... she was testing me! Wanted to try and throw me a curveball to see how I would handle it. Clearly she wanted to make sure I was able to be trusted and that I wouldn't fall apart at a slight hiccup. Brilliant. Admittedly the truck had a lot of power, but being the skilled driver I am, it didn't bother me at all. It did worry me that Mantis had been spotted with a fair bit of recent activity on Lesser Drigo. Dr. Long said that it would be a perfect chance for the new Executive Defender Series 208 robot (commonly called ED-208) to be field tested. The ED-208 is highly reliable and can easily identify threats. According to the message from Dr. Long. I actually thought at first she was sending me a protection rabbit because her message was a bit garbled, which seemed ridiculous. I mean, what would a rabbit even be able to do... I found it somewhat difficult to find any fauna, this might have been due to the fact that my vehicle made a loud BBRRRRRRRAAAAAAAPPPP noise from its exhaust that could be heard for a mile. Not that I would have been able to do much with them anyway since there was virtually no room in the race truck. I was able to find some plants though. And I did have my camera with me. I asked ED-208 if he felt like what we were doing was science and he said "I'd buy that for 3 credits!" I think that meant yes. I also grabbed a few rocks for our geologists on the Axle to look at. I looked for any cool rocks that I could give to Dr. Long for her desk, but all I could find was ugly brown ones. ED-208 asked me why I was looking for "pretty rocks for the stern woman", clearly the AI still has a ways to go! Extra truck photos:

    [O-F02] Vacation Canceled!

Location: F02 - Lesser Drigo Tags: Land Vehicle, Engineering, Civil, Octan And there Henry stood again. The transport vehicle had just left and he was alone with a pile of gear on some strange alien planet! Originally he had planned to take a break and spend two weeks surfing on New California. The waves were said to be superior there! And his request had even been granted by Dr.Long. Surprisingly, he was here now with his vacation being canceled the last possible minute. Henry wasn't quite sure what had gotten him here, but he had the suspicion that it had something to do with this "little incident" last night: Before leaving the O.S.C. AXLE, H3 had ventured to the ship's bar to have a few beers with some of his engineering buddies. But on the way back to his sleeping compartment, the AXLE had had a little problem with it's gravitational system (at least that's what he remembered) and 0-g was something he couldn't handle at all, had never been able to handle to begin with! And so things had ended up like they usually end up in situations like this ... Well, he had made sure nobody found out about this "little incident" and mopped the ship as quick as possible, leaving it cleaner than before. So what could have happened? Why was he here now, on a planet whose name he had never heard before and with a task that seemed virtually impossible: building a water pumping station on a desert and lava planet? Henry looked around, okay there was water, at least he could see some steam rising from below the sand where the water most likely got into contact with the lava. But his pile of equipment was just that, a pile of equipment he would have to sort through, a task that would take him hours, if not days. And, there were those really nasty space scopions he had heard of before, hopefully they wouldn't be able to cross the lava creek that seperated him from these beasts. "Ah, shitty situation, better call hq to make sure someone with a big gun gets down here" H3 mumbled "damn, where was the radio? On no, WHY ALWAYS ME ... ?" What H3 failed to understand was that his "little incidident" had of course not gone unoticed. There was nothing happening aboard the AXLE that did not get noticed somehow, somewhere by SOMEONE. NOTHING!

    [O - F03] Death ray truck

Location: F03 - Forring Tags: Vehicle Ok, since your piloting licence have been stripped due to "resounding incompetence", you've been assigned to a simple driving mission. Sigh, ok.. What should i do? Just drive this truck down from here, the main base on Forring, to the outpost in sector 4. What? This thing? What is it, a laser cement mixer? No, it's an Octan Death Ray truck. It's a super powerful weapon, that's why the it's needed in the outpost. Still looks like a cement mixer to me. Well, since you're surely not firing it, it may well be. Now move on! Yes sir! What is this button over here? Don't touch any button! I bet it will start mixing cement! Click! No! you armed the death ray! Ok ok, i'm closing it.. maybe it's this other button? Aaaahhh! Stop pushing buttons! Looks like Forring just lost a moon. To be continued..
  10. [M-B06] Sorn Supply/Science Station 28 Junali 3815 Lady Kianna, Engineer’ Log: Water, water everywhere. I have found a shallow slow moving current of Awesomnium flowing with the mineral rich waters of Sorn. The only land available is sharp small islands (rich with Awesomnium) but very difficult to build on. I have chosen a site above the current to build a platform supply and science/research station. Big Sal arrived as I was finished so I left him to set up his supplies and experiments while I went back to the supply ship for more stock items. One of the perks of this particular job is I get to be the first to test the M.A.N.T.I.S. RHIB 2000. With a large area for supplies and even larger super charged turbo fan engines made to deliver heavy supply loads in a quick amount of time, I returned to the base in time for a shocking sight. Big Sal had his experiments set up and things are……growing quickly….too quickly…I’m not sure I want to know what is in those two tanks on one of the platforms, and why is there a glowing spider sitting atop a vial of something?…… As I unload the supplies, Big Sal waves and heads up the ladder to the roof. I follow and immediately feel concerned……carrots are not supposed to look like that, there is large disturbingly green leafy things and a good portion of the metal I had used on the roof and equipment has turned the color of the Awesomnium (note to self…eat MREs this week even though they really are Made Rarely Edible). I suddenly remember I have forgotten something important back at the resupply ship and take the RHIB 2000 out to deep sea……empty cargo space with full throttle I can at least temporarily forget what I saw and what I will probably have to eat next week……. Hope you enjoyed B06 Sorn. C&C Welcome.

    [M - E02] Undersea Exploration

Participants: Master_Data, Agent G, Little John Begin Log: We stumbled upon some ruins from Jurin II's earliest civilizations. Little John and Agent G volunteered to help excavate the rest of the ruins and look for more awesomnium. Seems like there are some weird crab-like creatures amongst the ruins. We'd better save one for Big Sal. Little John readies his camera for shots of the area before we start drilling. There's something hiding behind that rock. Better not disturb it. It's almost like the creature is guarding that helmet... Activated my new M.A.N.T.I.S. Awesomnium Locator. Ready to commence drilling! Great! I'll remove the debris with the M.A.N.T.I.S. Gator Class Submersible. Let's get working! End Log Comments: Sorry for the lack of story! I've been very busy. Maybe I'll come back and edit it once I have time!
  12. Location: A06 - Guinevere Tags: Vehicle, Civil Ender and his sister Valentine landed on Guinevere, a desolate planet that wouldn't be worth visiting if it weren't for the huge veins of gold running through its crust. Valentine was a Kawashita scientist so when she told Ender they needed to dig directly under a live lava flow to find the purest vein of gold, he didn't doubt her for a second. He did doubt, however, whether the roof would melt through before they were able to get out of there though. OoC: As this is my first AG build, comments are even more welcome than usual!

    [K - A07] Stonecutting

After his work on Lorstan II, Alexander was sent on Lesser Direstan to do some geological prospecting...
  14. EDIT: Builder's Notes: Please see the Challenge 1 entry before reading this one: http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=110926. The story is related. Also note that the flora/fauna found in this entry was built and first shown in the Challenge 1 entry and should not be scored here. Location: G03 - New California Tags: Exploration, Vehicle, AG, Octan ++Pombe, personal log, start recording++ Eshey and I had another meeting with the gosh darn hero explorer Lu Caslaug-Hing to go over them details regarding our mission to planet gee-oh-three, known around these parts as New California. Lu had reckoned in our prior meeting that Eshey and I should be looking for water, Lucky for us, one of our probes on New California had spied a cactus, which is proof enough that there's water in them thar' hills. (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=110926). Now, that tenderfoot Eshey had a yellow stripe as wide as the Axle down her back. She kept kicking up a row about dangerous cacti monsters. Horse feathers. I told her not to get her dander up, but Lu, to her credit, took it in stride, and preached that safety was always a priority and that Eshey should do what she likes. Well, I was fixin' to head out and I needed a new ride, and there ain't no finer friend, engineer, or drinking buddy as ol' Big Z to fix me up. He was someone you could ride to the river with. A fine steed! I named her Snowflake, for she was as white as the new snow. Big Z also fixed me up some tack to go with Snowflake. I was ready to ride. Eshey went on yammerin' to Big Z about needing some big guns to fight the cactus monsters. Now, I reckon you've heard about them Kawashitas and how they've got a reputation for riding big robots into battle. But seeing as how we Octans is the largest and most flush corporation in these parts, and how we do all the supplying of military hardware to them Galaxy Squad soldier types, we've got big robots of our own; and that's just what ol' Big Z fixed Eshey up with. Well Eshey was grinnin' like a possum about that. We just needed a wagon to get us to New California, and DarkDruid was our ticket to ride. Here was another feller you could ride to the river with. When we got to New California, that lily livered apprentice 'o mine starts shooting up near every single gosh darn plant in sight! I tell her that if she keeps this up, ol' Dr. Long is gonna deliver her a whupping something awful. Ol' Dr. Long was an ornery cuss, and dumb Eshey had no idea. Eshey yammers something about "safety first" and "making sure". I'll admit Eshey was the most rootin' tootin' shootinest gal this side of Andromeda. Never missed a shot, that she didn't. We did find water, and like I said, ol' Dr. Long was all horns and rattles about those shot up plants. Poor Eshey was in the calaboose on that one. ++Pombe, personal log, stop recording++ Next:
  15. Participants: Master Data, Agent G Begin Log: I'm supposed to pick up yet another food shipment from the labs on Hunston to deliver to our forces throughout the sector. I suspect that one of the opposing corporations is going to try and sabotage my mission, so I've brought Agent G to ensure I make it there in one piece. Scanning the island chains for Big Sal's lab. I'm supposed to pick up a shipment of some new type of larva for the cafeteria. Hold on, I'll run a scan of the surrounding islands. Computer, set us on course for Big Sal's lab. Computer: Of course sir... You are 12,000,000 space-specs off course. Preparing to recalculate. GAHHH! Computer, why couldn't you warn us earlier?! I don't want a repeat of last time! KABOOM! We've been hit! What? There aren't any other corporations on this planet yet! Computer: It appears that the Kawashitan malware you picked up on Guinevere activated a M.A.N.T.I.S. defense drone. Useless computer... Agent G, blast it! I can't - you didn't build any guns into the ship! Oh...well, I hope you can swim! Master Data, I hope you haven't left yet! The order just got cancelled! Something about causing stomach problems across the sector... So that's what it was...

    [M-A06] Truckloads of Gold

Location: A06-Guinevere Tags: Vehicle, Building Job: Driver Start Log: I wasn't surprised to be stationed on A06, after MANTIS' successful infiltration of the planet, I knew that drivers would be needed to help gather gold. Some MANTIS engineers had quickly erected processing plants to separate the gold from rock. My task was to use the T-7 dumptruck to haul loads of gold to transport ships that then delivered it back to MANTIS headquarters. This mission I even had a co-pilot, Massi Editoro, who would man the truck's cannon in case of attack. MANTIS didn't take any chances when hauling gold, even dumptrucks received serious firepower. All in all, a pretty fun job, but the desert heat seemed to mess with my stomach... T-7 Dumptruck: Maintenance rover: The processing plant and dump truck actually work!

    [K-E10] Fortifying Traig IV

Location: E10 - Traig IV Tags: Vehicle Voice Log of Mister S: "Things are beginning to get tense out here in the Gates. This week I am assigned to operate a Centaur Heavy Artillery Mech on Traig IV. Kawashita is fortifying the planet with shield generators in case of armed conflict with the unscrupulous Octan Corporation. Heard they shot down one of our scientific research vessels on Arium Minor. Bloody bastards! Several squads of Kawashita's HTC have been stationed here as well while Kara Scel gets the shield generators operational. Ha, lets see Octan try and blow this place up while I stand guard!"

    [O - F09] Realities

Location: F09 - Arium Minor Tags: Science, Octan, Civil, Vehicle // PERSONAL DIARY // As a recent graduate of the Octan Science Academy (with honors!) I was excited to see my first assignment in the real world. I'd been sent to Arium Minor to work with Dr. Martenz. I hadn't been quite sure what I would be doing, but it felt good to finally be able to contribute and Dr. Martenz was well regarded within the company. Upon arrival at the Octan Corp ship on planet I introduced myself to Dr. Martenz and was a bit saddened by how little attention he seemed to pay to my arrival. He seemed distracted by his work and quite busy. He said that some of the local alien pathogens were fascinating and had a lot of potential in the biomass field. He then said he needed me to take a pair of monkeys from Medical down to the Lab. They had been exposed to some of the pathogens and he needed them monitored. I tried to tell him that while I minored in xenobiochemology that my primary field of expertise was robotics including drones and autonomous vehicles. He asked if I had taken the "REQUIRED clinicals" at the academy, to which I had to say I had. We were short staffed at the moment he explained and given that I knew the proper safety protocols and had a containment suit I would need to contribute to the needs of the company and not be as worried about my own desires. "There will be plenty of opportunities to play with your robots!" he said rather dismissively. Obviously he thought of himself as a true scientist and I was merely a boy playing with toys to him. But he was an important scientist and I didn't want to make a bad first impression so I complied. I had been a bit worried about his repeated warnings to keep my containment suit on and NOT let the monkeys escape. Plus it was disconcerting that he asked if all of my next of kin info had been filled out. The dart gun mounted near my seat seemed more for show than to actually be used. I made sure to drive very carefully and ensure my cargo made it to the Lab safely. It may not be how I pictured my post-Academy life, but it certainly isn't boring! Apologies for the bad pictures and quick build, I joined mid-week and thus was quite rushed. Hopefully churn out better stuff going forward! Go Octan!
  19. Begin Log: Caught one of the scientists hacking into our top secret files. Can't let that information get out to any of the other corporations. The prisoner won't talk. Time to transfer him to Torresta for a "hot bath." My Intergalactic Speeder should do the trick. It's just big enough for the two of us and should supply enough oxygen for the interplanetary travel. The prisoner is secure. He'll be over within one cycle. We need to crack down on these rogues! End Log
  20. [K - E10] Polar Military Base on Traig IV This is my first microbuild ever, so all kinds of CC is approciated! I had a lot more fun building this than I had initially anticipated, doing things on a microscale forces one to think in very different way than one usually does. As usual, my projects tend to become bigger than I intend... this one clocks in at a little over 1200 pieces. For scale purposes, one tile (without stud) is around 2m high. (Also, I realized why rendering was so slow last week (custom radiosity), so this week you'll get a lot of renders (one high def, and a few a little lower def)!) --//Transmission Begin. Date: 1506(38)15. Scramble code: hhakKHI7924kja29jKllflhgm.//-- Due to reports of possible imminent direct contact with Octan, HQ decided we needed to set up a forward base on Traig IV. Its mountainous islands near the poles, which are covered with thick layers of ice and snow, provide excellent opportunities for building such bases, both thanks to the strong magnetic fields eminating from them, which interfere with enemy scanning equipment, the supply of fresh water from the snow, and the opportunity for our scientists to study the planets very interesting oceanic flora and fauna. The majority of the base is located underground, including a vast hangar which can hold up to 6 Alpha Class airships (one of them which is currently landing), 50 heavy bombers and a couple of hundred smaller fighter jets, plus several different ground vehicles, including variants of the ATC-76 (which can be seen approaching the base). Some parts are located on the surface however. The living arrangements for the troops and scientists, which consists of several self propelling modules, which land on each other to form a tower of sorts, is located above ground in order to minimize the space used (for harder visual/radiation tracking) and to facilitate rapid evacuation in case of an emergency. The research facilities require daylight for particular types of experiments, so part of it is above ground. The Awsomnium tanks were just delivered via orbital delivery ships, and will be hauled into the hangar as soon as possible. Two ATCs approaching the front gate. The base from above. Col. 21. Location: A05-Yallorn II Tags: Vehicle, Exploration Job: Driver Log Update: After operating the TR-2 Mining Rig, it was a welcome change to use the T-4 Buggy to scout ahead on planet A05. The individual front and rear suspension soak up even Yallorn II's mountainous terrain, and it's one of the fastest vehicles I've driven. The scouting expedition itself was mostly uneventful, I ran across a few small aliens, but they scampered off quickly. I made sure to keep an eye on them though, as harmless looking creatures often turn out to be anything but that. The T-4 Buggy features working suspension, and the ability to swap out modules for different missions. Weapons module for scouting missions: Cargo module: Secondary cockpit module: I tried to capture a rocky moss covered look to represent Yallorn II's mountainous landscape. C&C welcome
  22. [Log Entry III - Lesser Direstan] I wonder what a planet must do to be bequeathed the name "Lesser Direstan". We raced by Greater Direstan so quickly I never got a chance to see what made it so great. After two and half hard weeks on Lorstan II I was awoken abruptly by the sound of a Seraphim overhead - not an strange sight, though this one was flying particularly close. Expecting my bi-daily supply drop I prepared to go retrieve the material in my trusty vehicle, but much to my surprise instead of supplies two men dropped from the sky. One introduced himself as Commander Commander (when I inquired further into his name he told me the Kawashita was the way of discipline). When I explained that without the great human virtue of curiosity - ignorance is the curse of God; knowledge is the wing wherewith we fly to heaven - it is likely that we would still not know of the Gates, he said "Curiosity killed the cat". Receiving orders from his radio he explained the Corporate's First Branch (which I am informed only then that I am a part of - an error I allow to slide but am sure to remember - such is the way of bureaucracy I fear and lo' now I too am a part of it!) is making a move to Lesser Direstan. I ask if we have made Lorstan livable yet, if the brave colonists to follow will have the appropriate drinking water. My pleas for answers go unmet. I am shipped away with the driver ("Grumps") and put aboard a ship and before I know it I'm on Lesser Direstan. A brief comes in paper form, and I am given a new ship, which "Grumps" calls a "Cavefish". I doubt this is the true name of my machine, but I admire his jargon. He pushes me out on my own with a "good luck". My mission is... similar to my previous one. I fly along the coast, alone. My "Cavefish" searches the ocean below me - along the coast are a number of caves right below the ocean floor, filled with fresh water which we may mine for our sustenance. I have never heard of such a thing before - fresh water caves below the ocean! What a wonderful place this universe of our's is! The "Cavefish" has a red light when there is a cave below. I think this is rather silly since this is the color for "stop" back at University, but the big wigs over rule me. The land is beautiful, home to many strange red and white mushrooms and trees. I sail alongside cliff sides over wine-colored water, and am reminded once more of the nursery rhymes my mother once read me. Red fish, blue fish, One fish, two fish. 23. Location: A07 - Lesser Direstan Tags: Vehicle Voice Log of Mister S: "Lesser Direstan - A07. New week. New planet. This time I have been assigned to haul dirt away from various construction sites on Lesser Direstan. It seems that as the planet has a good variety of terrain with a good supply of fresh water, Kawashita Group has decided to build several large colonies here. So here I am driving an MT-HH2 across a rocky plain to the next colony that is scheduled to be built."

    [O - G08] What lies beneath

Location: G08 - Xerillian Tags: Vehicle, Spaceship / Airplane, Exploration, AG, Octan ++Pombe, personal log, start recording++ I return from Yetornius with sad news. Isabel is dead. The rest of the crew on board the O.C.S. Axle are saddened, of course; but poor Big Z...he took it especially hard. They had just started dating when this happened. We mourn in our own way. Space Terrapin, ever the loyal comrade, joins us. It ends as it always does: with Dr. Long filing a complaint with Octan Corporate HR. Another great Octan explorer, Jacques LaRose, sees me in this forlorn state and tries to get me back in the game by offering me a spot in his latest expedition to planet G08. Jacques, like Wick Nole, is another one of my heroes. While I will need time to get over the loss of Isabel, I take him up on his offer. If I'm going to mope, I might as well be useful while I'm moping. Xerillian...sand dunes...desert planet. Our probes show no signs of awesomnium on this planet. Nor is it a good place to harvest water. However, it does have subterranean life that can be harvested for biomass. I will prepare for this mission. I will have to continue on. That is what Isabel would have wanted. ++Pombe, personal log, stop recording++ ++Start data transmission++ Jacques and I have just entered Xerillian's atmosphere in our dropships. He loads his trusty buggy onto his, I load my hovercraft onto mine. We head together towards the coordinates that Dr. Long has predicted will have a large biomass presence. Jacques is skeptical. He's not confident that we'll find any thing there, but we have our orders. Are those...ruins...I see off in the distance? I'll make a note of it in my report and let Big Z know about it. He loves this sort of stuff. I hope it will help cheer him up. Huh? What's this? Hey, Jacques. My sensors are picking up a faint energy signature. Could be awesomnium. Hmm? You want me to check it out while you continue towards the original coordinates? Copy that. It's probably nothing, but I'll confirm and catch up with you in a bit. Pombe out. I'm approaching the energy signature...what is that? It's...it's a crashed M.A.N.T.I.S. ship! What's that doing all the way out here? I have to check it out. I'm just going to land the dropship nearby...no need to unload the hovercraft. Shutting systems down...there. Alright, I'm setting out on foot. [audible footsteps in the sand] I'm approaching the M.A.N.T.I.S. ship. It looks like it crashed here relatively recently...it's still smoking. The canopy is open. I guess the pilot made it out alive...my helmet sensors aren't picking up any live minifigures in the immediate vicinity. He must have found shelter elsewhere. Either that or there's a dead body around here somewhere. Oh, look. There's a scorpion looking arthropod thing. It seems to be minding its own business. I bet Dr. Long would want it for a specimen. I'll come back for it with the proper equipment once I get back to the dropship. Let's look inside the cockpit. It looks like the pilot was recording something before the crash. Let's play it back. [audible clicks] [female voice] ++Start personal log: M.A.N.T.I.S. agent Sammy Nelly Typhi++ I'm free! I'm finally free of that idiot! Two years of my life wasted by that fool of a moron! But I don't care. I'm done with this stupid mission and I'm heading home. Oh, I can't even believe how wrong this mission became so quickly. My original goal was to infiltrate Octan and get close to the legendary explorer, Wick Nole, and steal Octan corporate secrets from him. Somehow, though, it didn't go as planned...maybe he had a feeling something wasn't right with my credentials. But he stuck me with this idiot of an explorer who goes by the call sign Pombe. Like really? He couldn't just use his real name like the other explorers? Wick Nole and Jacques LaRose don't use call signs. Does he think he's special? And what's with "Pombe"? That's like "beer" in Swahili? If he was trying to be clever, he failed like the imbecile he is. It's a good thing I stashed this ship on I06 with plenty of awesomnium. Octan provides just enough awesomnium to get the mission done. I would never make it back with the Octan ship. I just needed a good excuse to get here without Mr. Pombe the Moron "supervising" me. Good thing I got this solo mission approved. If I had to do another mission with him as "Isabel Novak" I would have likely murdered him and exposed my cover in the process. Ugh...I can't even stand the thought of him. I have no idea how I spent two years "apprenticing" for the no-brain stupid-face and totally not learn a single thing. Not one Octan secret. Not one useful technique or method. Nothing. The idiot even thought I was an outstanding student, not even realizing that I "learned" things that he never taught: like all the best practices I learned from being a M.A.N.T.I.S. corporate operative. I tried to get secrets from Dr. Danielle Long and agent Jebediah O'Reilly, and while both of them were courteous, but they were astute enough to not go into too much depth with me. I also tried getting secrets from that genius engineer, Zaael, but in the end, I didn't succeed. Maybe I wasn't trying very hard with him. He is pretty cute. In any case, that's water under the bridge, which is too bad. I just had to get away from that clueless dolt Pombe stupid face. And how is he even still alive? EVERY mission...EVERY ONE...we encounter some crazy dangerous life threatening creature. And yet...while Mr. stupid face is completely oblivious to the danger, these creatures somehow...miss him. He never even realizes that they are there and he is under attack! Time and time again, I witness this. I'm not religious...I don't believe in the Man Upstairs...but something is protecting him. I even faked my death to throw that idiot fool imbecile for a loop. I stole a cadaver from Dr. Long's laboratory...speaking of which...why does she have cadavers? Anyhoo, I stole a cadaver and put that stupid wig I've been wearing for two years on it and threw it near a dangerous creature in a cave for Mr. Moron to find. He'll probably just see my wig and report that he found my remains without running any further verification. I can totally see that happening. Hopefully this time the dangerous creature won't miss and the idiot face will finally just die. Alright...finally...I'm breaking free from the atmosphere of I06. Let's punch in the coordinates into the nav computer to head to M.A.N.T.I.S. space, but take the long route through Kawashita space...just in case someone is following me. Thank the Council of Five, I'm finally heading home. Initiate interplanetary jump. [warning klaxons sound] WHAT? Engine malfunction? [pause] Who in the blue blazes is stupid enough to build a space ship and attach the engines with just a single stud?!?!?! Crap in a hat. Looks like I'll have to make an emergency landing on G08. Oh...it looks like it's going to be a rough landing. [inaudible noise] @$%%^$@$%%$&^$@#$%^^#@%%#^%#^% Kssshhhh...zzzzzzz...crap...skskkakazzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz....kshhshshhhshhzzzzzzzzzzzz... ksklsszzzzzzzzzzz...kszhhshshshhzh... ++End recording++ Wait. Does this mean that Isabel... Is alive?!?! Oh, I can't believe how relieved I am! Big Z is going to be sooooooooo HAPPY!!! I'm not sure what all this M.A.N.T.I.S. stuff has to do with anything. Maybe Isabel got confused? I'm sure we'll sort it out. I have to hurry back to the dropship and tell the others! Oh, I'm so happy! I'll let them hear this recording so they'll know that Isabel is alive and here somewhere and that we need to send a rescue operation as soon as possible. [loud audible footsteps in the sand] ++End data transmission++ Next: More pics under the spoiler tag.
