  1. Hi, like Garmadon already posted, we planed an double Guerilla Attack on K12/ Ras-El-Akhen under the control of the High Council. He posted his entry yesterday, and we saw some Ulandian infiltrators getting in to the city by hiding in a wagon full of hay. So let's see how the Guerilla goes on... Gatehouse Occupation: ''You can pass!'' the guard yelled! The farmer's wife slammed her whip, and the carriage moved on. ''Haha, we're in!'' whispered Cedric. He was one of two chosen Ulandians. He and his partner got the task to infiltrate Ras-El-Akhen and find a weak point of the defense. The carriage suddenly stopped. ''Is there somebody?'' the farmer's wife said. She jumped on the ground and took a look into the hay. ''Mhhmmhm..I felt like I heard somebody...mhmm.'' Cedric whispered..''Hey, take a look!'' he pointed on an crowded place. ''It seem's like there is some disturbance over there. Let's take the chance to get into the Gatehouse! We'll give a sign to our soldiers and smash the mechanism..what a chance!'' The scene in an forced perspective view: My Kaliphlin character Omar Ben Salem is showing his wealth to the envy residents...they should not pay him to much attention! ...so I hope you like my first Guerilla Attack. Garmadon's and mine are very different builds but I think in maintenance the Idea counts...Right now I'm pretty happy with the streetdesign and the haywagon. Two techniques i will definitly use again...after all this GoH building my lego room is a total mess. Four Buildings in 11 days, let's take a short brake ;) Regards...
  2. HC Solider #1: Boy, these movable fortress things are neat-o! Remind me to give Ameri a big thank you once we reach the coast! #2: I'm with you there! It's the best thing since the wheel... in fact, it has a lot to do with the wheel! No more marching for me. #3: Goodbye, left left right right! Driver: Stop the chatter for a moment recruits. What's that dust cloud over there? #3: Gulp. It might be Desert King soldiers! #1: You're afraid of a bunch of mummies? My Mommy isn't scared of mummies! Driver: Look again, empty heads! #2: Uh-oh! They're Ulanders! Quick, do your transforming thing, driver! Driver: I'm on it! Wait... where's the instruction manual?! #3: Was it this? Sorry, I may have used it to light my pipe. Driver: Grrrrr! Well, get up you...! Help me figure out how to switch this around! #2: Wait. You don't know how this works? Driver: Of course I don't know! #1: They're coming closer! Hurry! Driver: Okay, just throw all the boxes out, quickly now! You two, unhitch the horses. ...Never mind, we can catch them later! Help me attach these! Two... three... lift! #2: Augh! Get off your lazy... help me lift this side already! #3: I can't! I'm supposed to put the leg down! #1: Hurry, I'm going to drop it soon! Driver: Okay, were clear! #3: No! No! We're not clea..owwwwwch! #1: Sorry about that. It was slipping. #2: Hurry! They're almost here! Ulandian Commander: What on earth are they doing?! Ulandian Soldier N.1: Looks like they're trying to build some sort of fortress! N.2: It's pretty cool, actually. N.1: You can have it when we capture it! Commander: Alright boys! Attack! Well, the High Council soldiers weren't quite done putting their fortress up, and certainly weren't ready to fight. So it was no surprise that the Ulanders soon got the better of them, poor things! Overview: Without the base: Just the fortress in moving mode: In upright mode - the necessary changes are minimal: And the Flick-firepult... a High Council experiment! An experiment that actually works, by the way. Link=video! C&C appreciated as always!
  3. Just look at their eyes. Which one looks like he's seeing a mirage to you? As it turns out, the spot was so good that it became a common rendezvous for the Ulandian big-wigs! C&C welcome!
  4. Title says all! Really, there wasn't much else that could be done to counter this! And a dogless shot. Comments are welcome, if you're interested in making one on such a tiny thing, . Thanks for viewing!
  5. Deep in the badlands of Kaliphlin, a gang of Ulandian sympatizers stumble across a bit of a pumping apparatus used by the Desert King to squeeze money out of the land itself. Filled with righteous indignation, the group set it alight and beat a hasty retreat! I wanted to try out a slightly new style of sand with the slopes going every which way, let me know what you think! Thanks for looking!
  6. Over the hill, Past the mill, They come! They come! The army was ready to fight They had marched all night. On they came For glory and fame! The reached the peak But their prospects were bleak, Beneath the mist, There lay a great pit! Surprise! This is the secret! Overview: Due to the angles between the cliff and the chasm this was rather difficult to photograph well with the correct perspective, but hopefully you get the picture! Comments are welcome!
  7. Just this morning I received a second dispatch from Uridius Dratiphe. It ran thus. To Ageven Deriam, Sixth Centurion of Ulandus, In the hand of Sir Uridius Dratiphe. My dear Ageven, I write to inform you that after their bacon and hamburgers, the citizens of the fire plagued city have taken to snacking upon a soft, roundish white thing with a light texture and a pleasantly sweet flavor. I spent the night in the city in one of the few inns still standing and was invited to try a few. They are really quite delicious, especially when toasted over the hot coals left by the Regrettable Incident (the first one). I send you two by the hands of the messenger, with strict injunctions that he eat them not upon the way. I highly recommend you toast them slightly before consumption. Truly yours, Sir Uridius Dratiphe I did try them - toasted over a candle - and really, they were quite good! After this civil war is over we shall have to try to market them! This is quite a milestone for me. My first 4x4! C&C welcome!
  8. Hi, So here's my Entry to Warzone 9 - The Battle for the bloody Lane. Contain the Road of Oil! The face's of the young Recrut's showed an frightened expression. Why? Why were these two young guys send out to patrol the important Road of Oil? The barbarian Ulandians came straight towards the young soldiers of the High Council. There we're no opportunity to hide or to escape. They had to face the enemy, even if it's the last thing they will do... An additional picture of the figless scene: I used this technique, which I've seen in a MOC of Markus who's probably one of the best german(Edit: ooopsss austrian^^ ) builder's these days...The technique it is not that new, but still something special and rare. It was my Intention to create some kind of special Road for this Warzone, since it is an important part of the Mini-Challenge... Hope you like it!
  9. As the impetuous Ulanders carried all before them on the Oil Road, the Desert King mummies were desperately attempting to hold their ground. As they vainly endeavored to stay the Ulanders, the mummies vaguely wondered what had happened to their commander. However, from behind them they heard his voice saying, "Hang in there, I'll just have one more cherry if you don't mind!" Figless: My entry to WZ9, and if I win I would like to choose G10 as the next warzone. I would like to receive UoP credit for: Military Science - Battle Scene Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  10. We had been Traveling through Kaliphlin for some time, and I was anxious to return home. Amir Navabi had promised a ship to take us when he could secure one. But we were caught up in the Civil War, and I feared I might never see my homeland again. But as we traveled, we had come upon an Ulandian Lieutenant, and he and Amir had decided to venture into enemy territory. I personally had no wish to fight, only to return. But if returning meant raiding traveling parties on the road, thus be it. And we had just stumbled upon such a party. I head the Desert King Commander disscussing options with his escort. But they would not be afforded the time to think. "Surrender," Amir called. One of the bandits protecting the caravan spat at him, initiating his own demise. "Attack!" Amir was always ready for battle, and wanted to spite the Desert King as much as possible I, on the other hand, while not exited about fighting the Desert King, felt the feeling all Vikings feel before battle. Warrior rage. Rollo and I engaged the DK forces on our side, and made quick work of them. They were bandits, not the Warriors fighting at the fronts of this terrible War. Amir was once again re-asserting his ability to fight with his sword. The man was a natural, I hadn't seen a swordsman like him in my life. While Rollo had speed and power, Amir had something more. His sword strokes somehow.....flowed, like a dance. His sword just seemed to weave in and out, doing it's deadly work. I doubted if anyone could defeat him in open confrontation. Meanwhile, I had seen the Escort Leader sneak up on Amir. With a bellow of rage to wake the dead, I charged. The force of my stroke was so powerful it sent the mummy warrior tumbling right past Amir and the DK Commander, running into one of the horses. Amir hadn't even had to use his sword on the poor leader, which was just as well. The person I though was the leader of this Caravan was a lass of no more than 17. "Last chance," Amir told her. "Surrender." And she did. We had won the battle, but much remained to be decided. "I snitched one of there," Lydia told us, holding out a ruby of outstanding quality. "So we can sail back to Mitgardia." "Yes," Rollo exclaimed. "Now we can go home!" "Not that simple, I'm afraid," I interjected, stopping their celebration. "If we try to re-cross the border, Desert King forces will surely capture us. It's a miracle they didn't on the way in." "Then how do we get out?" Lydia asked, crestfallen. "We'll help Ulandus win Petraea. if they win there, they'll give us a boat." "Very well," Rollo murmured, still angry at our predicament. And with good reason. As Amir and the rest of the raiding party moved forward, I pulled him aside. "Amir, you're heading to Petraea, aren't you?" "Yes, why?" He had been heading there from the start, after all. "We will help you take the city," I told him. He actually smiled, which was the equivalent of tears of joy from him. Then his face shadowed. "In return for what?" "Safe passage, and a boat back to Mitgardia after the battle." Amir frowned for a moment, then decided. "It's a deal," He told me. Parting shot............ and the build without figs (mostly, anyway) Builder's notes: So this was fun to build, and I really love the olive green and dk orange I got from BL. But tell me what you think! Author's notes: Not much story here ether, but oh well. I have a huge build planned for Petraea, and the story will get really interesting from there. Oh, and sorry I haven't posted in forever........But I have finals for school coming up, so I probably won't be that active again until May/June. Anyway, enjoy! Oh, and did I mention? I would like to claim UoP credit for Geography: Desert Landscape. For the Praise of His Glory! ~Andrew
  11. Immediately the scene in the square degenerated into chaos - one Ulander picked up the music box and started playing with it, his Captain frowned portentously at him, the merchant bent down to gather up his stolen gold, from which he recoiled a second later exclaiming 'monkey goo!", and the man in the corner - an amused spectator of the scene - finished his banana and started munching his apple. The thieving monkey had been quickly taken care off, but the question now was, what had become of its trainer? Just then the other Captain saw a red turban issue out from the fountain as the spy came up for a breath, and grasping his turban - and distorting it sadly at the same time - he pulled the Desert King agent out. Another pic of the whole build: My counter to MKJ's guerrilla build. I would like to receive UoP credit for Trade and Law - arresting criminals Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  12. The High Council had landed on a narrow strip of land and started to throw up defenses. Unfortunately for them, the Ulandians were on their tail with a pair of small patrol boats! They easily put the few soldiers the High Council had thought fit to send to rout! Comments are welcome!
  13. Or, Giving a Dragon a Bath Counter to Robuko's build. As everyone knows, dragons - especially human-indifferent, peace-loving dragons like the Sand Dragons - absolutely love water, especially when it's sprayed on them in a powerful, cleansing burst. So in return for its kind protection for the citizens, the Ulandians, with the help of a few peasants, decided to give the Desert King's Sand Dragon a bath! A simple hand pump gets the water out of the barrel and on to the dragon! Yes, this is perhaps a bit whimsical. I thought about doing a dragon duel, but procrastinated on that until there simply wasn't time left! Had we not happened to have guests over the weekend I dare say I would have managed a base at least, but se la vie! C&C welcome as always! Edited for improved, no-longer-last-second-pictures! WIP shot still available temporarily at least.
  14. Hi, So here is my entry to Warzone 8 - Battle for the Trade Lanes: The Son's of Poseidon: The Son's of Poseidon are an old Ulandian tribe, their main colours are blue and gold. Born on the sea, the Son's we're send out to dominate the coast of Kaliphlin. Espaccialy the Qar-Arken River Delta is an important area to control. Weapon's and trading goods could easily be shipped deep into Kaliphlin from here. But no merchant could pass without the permisson of the Ulandian Soldiers. An big annoyance for the leader's of the High Council, they had to provide their troop's. Scouts we're sent to the Delta, to find out more about the Son's of Poseidon. Which kind of ship's do they use? How many soldiers are they? The scouts soon, got to know much more about the Son's, than they preferred... Hope you like it, it's a scene not that deep in the delta but I think it fits the description of the WZ, espaccialy for me as an Ulandian. Regards... Edit: I would choose I16 for next Warzone if i would win.
  15. In the Rakath Moutanins, the Steel Meridian have restored a lost underground city called Vern Badur. The city was fairly small and was seized by Osric Isentooth and his rats many years ago, when he was in power. Those forces have left that area a while ago to fight for the Desert King. Since the Steel Meridian mercenaries have been hired to fight for the First Centurion, they've been saving their coin for a rather peculiar project. Their inventors have been researching ways to build strong mechanized men. Some old Dwarven scrolls speak of a way to bring life into the non-living. since this project has been financed greatly, one of the leading inventors, Nothek Ironjaw, has forged a 6-foot tall steel man that has interchangeable parts so it can shoot a crossbow bolt in the left arm and wield a sword in the other. The man has cogs on the inside but is powered by a gem that has trapped souls from fallen allies. If they were to use the souls from fallen enemies, that would just defeat the purpose of these fighting on there side. With the war sending the price of Steel up the wall, forging these aren't that easy, especially with having everything so precise and with this being their first build and prototype, it has yet to see it's effectiveness in combat before any streamline production can begin. C&C Welcome and appreciated! Here are some extra pictures:
  16. With a little conniving, Ageven managed to sign a treaty with the Haxtarus, ruler of Cefivia, a location on the outskirts of the Witherwoods, handing the control of the territory over to Ulandus. I'm enjoying all these little interior scenes as you can probably tell! Just in case you think I'm just pumping out a lot of little tiny stuff, my next build should make you happy! Comments are welcome!
  17. The sneaky Desert King gang was having a good time. They sure had duped the Ulandians! In fact, it was so much fun that they decided they might as well as exceed their orders a touch and go ahead and keep it up for a day or two. But they rigged up the hoax one time too many! With all the fright caused by the Hippocampus' dreadful words, it should be no surprise that all Ulandian parents strictly forbade their children from going anywhere near to the cliff where it was known to appear. But Ulandian children are just like all other children in Kaliphlin, and no sooner did they hear that the place was forbidden than they snuck off to explore! In gleeful awe they heard the words of the Hippocampus: Ulandus, Ulandus Beware the sea! Do not forget What thy fate may be. (Poem credit to Robuko.) But one of the boys got a bit tired of sitting around and listening to the fateful chant. He poked his nose into the rocky crevasses and soon discovered a little something! With a little clever use of land formation and common "magic" tricks, the DK was just faking it all out! The UIandians wrote a poem to commemorate the discovery. Children, Children, Beware the DK! Do not believe them, No matter what they say! In days of old they foretold, The vengeance of the sea. They sang their song but they were wrong, They messed up on their history! Ulandus, Ulandus, You shall rise up! You shall have the highest score! For the hoax and the jokes of the Desert King Will be believed no more! OOC: I went for a slightly cartoonish look on the old Hippocampus - part of why I made him a good deal thinner, more like a cardboard imitation. And I wanted to show that the Desert King, far from ruling everything and being Kaliphlin's rightful ruler, is just a big, big hoax. Yeah, I had a good time with this one. C&C appreciated!
  18. The din of battle raged all around and at last concentrated itself upon a little strip of wall toward the south. The Desert King forces pressed on in spite of the thickly flying arrows of the defenders, dragging ladders after them, scrambling up the rock on their hands and knees. It seemed that nothing would stop them; careless of death they came forward and at last, with a hoarse, triumphant shout, placed their ladders against the wall. Up top, the defenders couldn't help but grin. Those mummies were no good at math. The ladders were too short! Disheartened by their utter failure, the Desert King forces soon gave up and retreated in complete discomfiture. Comments are welcome! I believe this is the largest sliver of wall I've done yet, used up just about all my tan and dark tan 2x1 plates!
  19. The Ulandians settle down on a bit of deserted desert down in I10. This was a fairly enjoyable build, I don't think I've ever done a sandscape this large before... sure used up a lot of pieces! It's a very mixed Ulandian crew, more allies than soldiers actually. Several have started shoveling out the horns and bones littering the ground. Ageven is chasing away a few scorpions and the others are doing general setting up camp jobs! Another overview: And a figless shot so you can get a good view of the desolate sand! C&C welcome! Thanks for looking! I pick D3 as the "next" warzone if I win.
  20. The Ulandians and High Council duke it out off the coast of Bengoria. Base size equals 10x6. Comments are welcome!
  21. The High Council soldiers whispered to each other in excited undertones. They were extremely honored to have been given the duty to penetrate into the area just under Ras-El Akhen to surprise one of the numerous Ulandian camps in the area. Stealthily pushing their way along the banks, they failed to notice the shadow rising behind them until it was already to late... An overview pic: I would like to receive UoP for: Geography - swamp and Geography - river scene If I win I choose I16 as the next WZ. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  22. Warzone 8: The Battle for the Trade Lanes Location: L11 Who Can Participate: Ulandus and High Council (Unless A path is opened up by the Desert King before the end of the minichallenge) Terrain: This is the very tip of the Qar-Akhen River Delta, the wetlands often change, and there is no solid ground for long. The deep swamps have reeds and small trees, but usually nothing large. This zone is also part of the Great Southern Ocean. There are few outer islands that stand beyond the delta, some of these have rudimentary lighthouses to help guide ships to Ras-El-Akhen or into the river so that they may journey to Qarkyr. The location is important because it helps control river traffic, and troop supply. History: This region has been part of the maritime trade-ways longer than there has been a written language to record the ships that have passed by and up the Great River of Life. Although no major settlement is within this region, it has always been important strategically. Mini-challenge: Whereas large armies really cannot make their way through the swamps, and large troop transports try to avoid the shifting outlets of the river unless they have to, this battle will be fought by small parties. The High Council is looking to expand out from Ras-El-Akhen, and fight back against the large Ulandian wave that has engulfed the Southern Coast. Small boats travel amongst the reeds to take out temporary camps of First Centurion’s men within the delta. At Sea, the Ulandians dominate, as their navy has dispatched many small water craft to the region to stop all merchants and determine their loyalties. The builders should depict a battle within the reeds of the delta, or just offshore in the slightly deeper waters. It should be clear that your side has won the battle. Secondary judging category: Best water. Winner of this title will become “Aquanaut of Kaliphlin” Restrictions: High Council: 16x16 Ulandus: 32x32 Due Date: April 19th WARMAP318 by skaforhire, on Flickr
  23. The Thirteenth Legion of Ulandus enter the great escarpment on their way to participate in the second battle of Queenscross... A picture in the shade (the sky is actually in the background again, but it looks almost like paper! ) The description pretty well sums up the reason for attacking this square The complete footprint is about 18x22, but what is in the picture is about 14x16. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  24. The Second Legion of Ulandus was guarding the city of Northwall, but, although they were far above them, the Salamanders had long since discovered the mummies tunneling far beneath them... The extremely clever mummies - or at least so they thought themselves - had for weeks been tunneling under the walls, and, having now completed the passage, were going to take the Salamanders by surprise. However, to their own surprise and dismay, they found that the Second Legion had diverted the river and turned it into their tunnels - just one more reason why mummies can't stand water! An alternate view of the whole build: A pic of the tunnel, as you can't see it well with all the mummies in the way! I think this has been my biggest build for the challenge yet, and I don't know how I could make it bigger unless I had the Salamanders counter tunneling and blowing up the mummies' tunnel, but I figured we had seen enough flames and explosions for a while! This was also an extremely hinge-intensive build! I would like to receive UoP credit for: Architecture - wall techniques [3] I would choose J9 for the next WZ if I win. Thanks for viewing, C&C are welcome!
  25. Nar Bilu takes his army on a short journey south to the Delta of the Qar-Akhen River. It seems that band of soldiers try to pass security and move inlands at a small bay leading to the main river. Nar commands his troops to set up a blockade within the river bay. With the little resources at hand the men build a few connected floating towers. One of the archers approaches Nar Bilu and warns him for incoming troops. In the shallow waters of the bay, armoured men try to sneak up. Within range of the towers the Serpent Spearmen arise ploughing the tips of their spears between the breastplates of every soul within reach. Before the commander is able to retreat his men, the water has turned from clear blue to deep red. Shields and bodies float to shore, while sword sink to the bottom. They will think twice before taking this route again. Check my Flickr account for other angles and details
