  1. Hey y'all I bought the lego imperial star destroyer a couple of months ago to display because I love to glaze at an Imperial star destroyer. After a while I realised that the set 6211 really lacks in detail. So I thought I would mod it to make it look better. So I started browsing some pictures of the imperial star destroyer to get some ideas. I then came across the UCS Imperial star destroyer and remembered it existed. I then realised that my 6211 SD would never look as epic as this one. So I went to rebrickable to see how many pieces I already had. I have 69% . But I didn't want to destroy my at-at 4483 so now I still have 67% I printed the parts list and started collecting the pieces I need and circled the ones I still have to buy from bricklink. I then realised I only have 1356 pieces. thats about 33%. So I have to buy a lot more. I made a wanted list from the pieces I need and started looking for the stores to buy the pieces from. The total cost is about 450€ which I will gladly pay for an epic star destroyer. I won't buy pieces that are 30€ per piece, so I just bought them in a different color and I will just paint them. That saved me a lot of money. I didn't buy the tan magnet holders because they are 20€ per piece and I need 14 of them, so I'll just buy a different kind of holder. I won't buy the pieces for the tantive IV, I'll just make it with the pieces I have. I now only have to pay some stores and then the waiting game can begin. Thanks for reading. (can somebody tell me how to upload a picture? )
  2. Hi dear forum! How do you display/store your models? Do you keep stickers on or off? I havent been collecting for too long, two years now, and I'm not sure wheather I should keep them on or just have the bricks plain. Bought some models new and seal and some are used. A bunch of them has really bad sticker quality while others are looking nice. I guess value wise it is better to have the stickers on, but the models are way easier to keep clean wihtout them, especially the ones where the stickers are starting to give in. I could not think of any better place to get my questions answere than here. Thanks. Edit: I know this is more of a general question, not specified for Star Wars, but this is the only forum I follow on Eurobricks.
  3. Hi I'm a high school student in Toronto, and I'm a new member to eurobricks. I got my first lego when I was 5, and recently I've started to collect UCS sets. I've now owned 10212,10227,10240,75059,76023. I was considering to buy UCS Slave I in the next double VIP points promotion, does anyone know when it will come? And will this set be retired by then? Now get back to the topic, this is my second brick link project. My first one is the bat pod, and its a small set compared to those crazy UCS sets. And now I'm starting to find the next project I'm going to do.After a couple days of research, I think 10018 suits all my requirements.First of all, it is a set with 1890 pieces, which was an easy one compared to other huge UCS sets. Also, I'm surprised to find out that besides 30562 black*4, all of the other parts are quite common and their prices are reasonable. And I've decided to use spray print for plastic to turn a dark bluish grey one (other suggestions of another colour?) into a black one. Also I've noticed that blue bricks and yellow bricks can't be seen from the outside, does that mean I can replace them with any other cheaper colours? The last but not least, in my own opinion, this set is not likely to be re-released again. I've heard rumours about a new UCS Death Star and the falcon, so I've decided to work on sets that were not likely to be re-released in the future. Tell me about ur suggestions on how to brick link this project please! Or other options that is suitable for me to bricklink, thanks for ur time.

    The Tumbler 76023 Speed Build

Hey Guys, I finally built the The Tumbler after it sat on the corner of my room for a few months! I know it's an old set and you've probably watched multiple Tumbler builds, I just wanted to share it in dedication to BvS which is coming out soon. Off course it's totally a different universe but for not very big comic fans like myself, anything Batman related is admired.

But, I'd love to hear what y'all think and your thoughts on how I can make this better. Mainly, I'm struggling with the weight and sturdiness of the wings. I'm also not happy with the front section's slope or the gaps in the front of the engine. Regardless, I hope y'all like it and kudos to thehornedrat for beating me to the punch
  6. legojedibob

    Hi! My name is legojedibob

Hi everyone, I'm legojedibob My name comes from a figure introduced in the first republic gunship, who was just a generic figure designed to represent the Jedi, but he's a bit silly looking with his smiling face and beard, which I always thought was funny considering he's in the middle of combat. My interests are usually Star Wars and space themes, but I like creator modular style stuff as well I have a particular interest in UCS sets, and have a weird sort of soft spot for greebels and intricate details I'm looking forward to getting to know this forum!
  7. Hi! Instructions for my Snowspeeder model are now available at mocplans.com Instructions are made by Eric Albrecht (Blakbird) and have 125 pages. Model itself has 2191 parts. I'll update this post with rebrickable url later when it's online. Rebel Snowspeeder at mocplans.com
  8. The Redemption is one of my favorite ship in the original Star Wars trilogy. I really wanted to the build a UCS model of it. Yet, people who have built it aren't sharing the instructions for the moment (I understand why now ...). Last year I decided to design it under LDD with the goal of building it for real and displaying it ! Here are the conditions I've set and decision I've made: - A scale of 1/250 : -> 1/200 is actually better suited for this project. - Around 5000 parts : -> This was changed to 9000. - Only cheap and common parts : -> It's almost the case, all the parts are common. -> There are some expensive parts : the Technic bricks, the plates and few slopes. - Swooshable -> It will probably be swooshable as long as you don't hold it from the center. -> It will weight something like 15 kg ... - Be as close as possible to the movie model -> I am using about 200 pictures of the original model used for the movie -> I am using some pictures of the work done by ShowCraft on the therpf forum (He seems to have alot of information I don't) -> For the color scheme, I am using light bluish gray because 1) the parts are available and 2) you can't really see the colors in the movie -> In the movies, the model was mirrored to show the right side. If it is interesting, I use the model design, and if not, I mirror. - Build it by May the 4th 2016 -> It's going to be complicated ... I am about half way done with the design. Here are the pictures of the current work : WIP 4 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr WIP 3 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr WIP 5 by Samir Lrhoul, sur Flickr Please comment ! I'd love to know what you think of the current work and if you have any advises. PS : the flashy colors or things that will be modified.
  9. I recently deleted from my wishlist the UCS Sandcrawler and decided to review it:) Although I am not a big Star Wars fans, this set was pretty special for me, because of its design, being a big UCS set and for not being another spaceship in the line. I also believe it has a great potential of being a great investment for the future.. When it first came out I was snob towards it because I had marshal banana's amazing MOC stuck in my mind... The review will be done from Mr Rambi (Royal Guard) and Sir Gunman with the help of some extra guys who are not included in the set Enjoy! Spare parts: Critism: Its one of the top sets in my opinion... Must buy even for the not so big Star Wars fans like me... It has a great design, an amazing series of minifigs and a very roburst construction together with a lot of functions to play with! Design:10/10 A great design with a very roburst construction based it technic bricks. Price/Pieces: 9/10 The set has an amazing collection of bricks, but in my opinion its one of those sets you should canibalize for MOCs... you just keep it for display or play with it. Playability:10/10 Its size gave the capability to its designer to include a lot of different functions to play with making it a really great PLAY set for all your scifi scenarios! Building:9/10 A bit tiring building procedure, but its expected due to its size... Though it has very inderesting details and technics from the designer... Specialy the technic part of the set. Total:9.5/10 Amazing set... No words to say... Just looking at the series of the minifigs included you can safely say its worth its money... I suggest you buy it if you are 50/50 before its price begin to skyrocket! Sandcrawler vs smart comparison Vadie relaxing... Thanks a lot! Gunman

    10179 Millennium Falcon Mods

Hey, I've been bricklinking the UCS Falcon from 2007 and have seen a lot of mods. I usually mod stuff that I bricklink, and was looking for inspiration. If you've modded one and want to share what you've done/know of a modded one, post it here. Here's what I've seen: http://farm7.staticflickr.com/6036/7001072249_69b17c62c1_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7176/7001103569_d5fe095706_c.jpg http://farm8.staticflickr.com/7240/6854949508_5ff51e7126_c.jpg From this post: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=67628 Aall of the ones from here: http://www.fbtbforums.net/viewtopic.php?t=24351&highlight=&sid=1cb916fc337648b35f11e5562df6641 This photo set: https://www.flickr.com/photos/marshal-banana/4757411621/in/set-72157622309088161/ http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?i=2879037 http://www.ebay.com/itm/Lego-Star-Wars-Ultimate-Millennium-Falcon-10179-Custom-BLACK-New-100-complete-/111120232218?pt=Building_Toys_US&hash=item19df482f1a&afsrc=1&nma=true&si=zCBtGZV2pHpPZ0kSGnGFAEt4cCg%253D&orig_cvip=true&rt=nc&_trksid=p2047675.l2557 At the risk of repeating myself, http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=38627 http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/45629 http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/299502 http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=81759 and the stuff on this page: http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=89683&st=25 Post if you know of anything else...

Will there be any UCS-sized City sets?

Although I don't buy much City sets, I also agree that the sets looks great. But one thing that bother me about the building sets in City is there's only a half of the building. Do you think that it'll be nice to having a whole building rather than a half? And also, since most themes has sets that have more than 900 pieces like DC Superheroes, Star Wars, Marvel Superheroes and Technic, will you think that City also needs some UCS-sized sets like a massive police station that as big like the 10179 Millennium Falcon? (Just UCS-sized, not a proper UCS set)

    Custom 6,000 piece UCS AT-AT

After 4 weeks of what felt like a battle more than a build, I've finally put the final piece in place on cavegod's AT-AT. Ever since I first saw pictures of it several years ago I've always wanted to try my hand at building it. However, there never seemed to be an opportunity, until a few weeks ago when cavegod ironically posted a listing of someone selling all the pieces to the AT-AT which he wanted taken down due to copyright. In an effort to appease cavegod (my excuse) I purchased the listing. A week later, the pieces arrived, and I dove in head first. After hours of building, improvising, fixing, building, improvising, rebuilding, fixing, improvising (you get the gist)... I have finally completed the monster roughly 3 weeks later. While I have my concerns over it falling over at the slightest touch, I'm in awe of Pete's creation. The attention to detail is simply incredible, you can't ask for much better. The scale is quite impressive too, as you can see from the (poorly and hastily taken) pictures below. Also, it only feels right to direct anyone interested in this set to @cavegod‌. Shoot him a PM and he'll send you the instructions for a very small, well deserved sum.
  13. I was always very fond of this oddball Rebel Alliance starfighter... A very bold but also sleek and streamlined design. The system scaled version, I bought last year, was nice but didn't quench my thirst... I knew, there was an UCS out there, but I read very bad reviews and a lot of rants about it... and the cockpit area wasn't really "good" to say the least... I got an offer for a sealed set at 250 Euro shipped, which seemed decent, but I already had my mind set on doing some small and some major changes to the set, so the premium to get an original was imho wasted money! Bricklinking!!! I kind of like Bricklink and even if its tiresome at times you can always get great stuff from a lot of nice people sharing the hobby or the business... my last project was the UCS Deathstar Hangar... So I decided on getting the parts I needed which took about 3 months and I started looking for applicable mods, but there are only a handful... finally I found a great cockpit mod at fbtb that I wanted to integrate, and I made A LOT of smaller changes as I went along lengthening building time to about 2 full days. After all I got all the parts plus spares, original instructions, canopy and stickers for around 175 Euro... I really like the result, and think its a great rendition of this classic trilogy ship. See for yourself: What did I do? - the cockpit was completely reworked to get the look and the size about right... I put in Ten-Nunb to have a pilot working there, even if he's not in scale... - backside of the cockpit was worked on, some of the gaps were closed, the tan-colored parts were swapped for DBG - the neck was streamlined and plated and I added greeblies - the round parts in front of the engine, that are known to leave nasty gaps were closed with small technic pins and a clever plating design... - the topsides of the wings were plated (one sloped tile is still missing, because one of my BL-orders was short one piece...) I left the undersides without plating to keep the perfect shilouette of the wings intact... plating would make the too chubby, imho. - I tweaked a lot of fine details with small greebling parts, making it more interesting to look at - Used some old gray and old dark gray parts to give it that used-universe look - I switched all colorful parts that would be visible in the finished model to gray, which makes it much more realisic... (I kept some of the peeking parts in tan in, because I think it fits nice to have some discoloration here and there...)
  14. I've lit up the engine of my UCS Millennium Falcon: It's done using a cheap €2 set of 20 LEDs from a Euro store. I had to replace the 2x3 grey plates the trans-blue tile attach to with transparent parts (and as 2x3 clear plates cost a fortune, I built them out of 1x1s and 1x2s). After that, there was a bit of work to remove some parts that blocked the lights, and some internal parts to hold the wires in place. The battery box sits neatly under the top gun emplacement, where it's easily accessible to turn on/off or change batteries. For a fairly easy mod, I think the really adds something to the Falcon. James
  15. I've never been happy with the plain dish on my bricklinked UCS Millennium Falcon. I've tried a brick-built solution, and home-made stickers, and even water-slide transfers: but it still doesn't look quite right. Then I saw some leaked photos which showed the new Episode VII Falcon radar. As you can see, it looks exactly as if it has a 2x2 Lego plate mounted on the front: (photo from here) How could I resist? Here is a link to the LXF file, which contains the radar: and a mirror in case Brickshelf goes down again... Edit: Parts list, by request Here it is on my Falcon (which isn't much like a stock UCS Falcon these days, but it ought to give you some idea):

    Prequel Trilogy UCS Sets

Ok, so I recently just watched the prequel trilogy again in its entirety and later noticed the lack of UCS prequel sets. Now I know that this trilogy is far less liked by a lot of huge Star Wars fans, but the vehicles themselves are quite nice. For example, Lego could produce a UCS version of either (Or perhaps both) a Venator Class Star Destroyer, or a UCS Invisible Hand, both of which would be the same size, or bigger than 10030. If Lego did this, I'm sure that the shelves would be cleared of these sets because the vehicles are quite nice and people would want them because of the size and the UCS Factor. Another vehicle that I truly want made is a huge (Like 5,000+ pieces) Droid Control Ship/Battleship, as the design would be awesome, and the size would be great too. Those three vehicles are just the beginning of what could be a prolific UCS wave(s).
  17. After the brilliant UCS Mk7 Cooper, Lego suddenly turned the crank up to 55 and now we are eagerly waiting for the UCS Ferrari F40 to drop. It's a giant leap in terms of subject matter (478hp twin-turbo V8, 201 mph top speed, last Enzo-approved Ferrari) and shows that TLG can do what we want and wish them to do. But now it suddenly got me wishing for more supercars, as well as race cars, to be made in full-functioning UCS glory. I have two road cars and two race cars that I would love to see in the Creator Expert series, and would definitely buy if given all of the moolah. McLaren F1 [PF-ready rear wheel-drive, fake V12 with correct colored-internals (including the gold shield) driven by rear wheels turning, steering, accurate suspension set-up, and those doors.] Honda NSX-R GT [same functions and features as the F1, but without the gold shield and the way those door open. But they can NEVER! take away that roof scoop.] Audi Sport quattro S1 E2 [Accurate, working quattro drive (one PF L motor per axle with adder) to make the Inline-5 engine work, accurate rally suspension, steering, all those lights.] McLaren MP4/4 [Exclusive Ayrton Senna fig (set should be released either on anniversary of this car or on Senna's birthday), PF-ready RWD for the V6, suspension, steering.] I went overboard now, and I'm sure some of you would think that I've robbed you on answers, bu there are so many magnificent cars that will get lusted on in UCS, and you know many more, like the Williams FW14C or the Porsche 959. And I have a faint feeling that someone's gonna lock this topic up forever. Then again, though, TLG can go further than the F40, especially now that they have McLaren and Porsche's licenses. What will be next, however, remains to be seen. Could be the F1, though it's far too early to tell.
  18. hey everyone =) my name's clement, from singapore. i'm very pleased to have the chance to get to know fellow lego fans from all over the world. Lego and Star Wars are my joys from young. Bought so many UCS and haven't actually built them, and then suddenly there was this ridiculous TRU sale in one of the malls, and so I bought a few of the mini SW ships and had a go. After that, it was no turning back, and I have been building day and night, much to the irritation of the other half... lol The Imperial Probe droid to me, is one of the coolest ever created in the entire series. It set the tone for the dark ESB chapter, and the scene of the droid emerging from the crash, legs dangling and head spinning menancingly still holds me in awe till this day. But I just thought it doesn't get enough attention, and so I set out to build my own. =) The final lego droid is made up of 550++ pieces and stands about 40cm tall (including base). Here it is, placed next to a 12inch "SIDESHOW" battle droid, for scale comparison. Here's another angle, next to a full size stormtrooper, for scale comparison as well lol The toughest challenge in this project, has to be that head, which has details on a 360 degree basis. I honestly sprained my brain on this one. In the photo below, different views of the head is presented, to illustrate the different eyes and snouts that I tried my best to replicate. Using different sizes of s, m and L, I tried in my purist mode, to differentiate all the variants and to keep them as close to the movie as possible. The legs provided the most fun of the build. Achieving full posability was a challenge I set myself, while attempting to get the unique claws to mirror the ones in the movie. Here's an R&D concept shot, before I finally arrived at the final profiles which I am contented with. I hope fellow fans will approve of this Probeject.=) I have also submitted the project to the Lego Ideas platform. If you also think this is a pretty okay project, which you would like LEGO to consider turning into a real project, please do hop over to the link below to support=). I'm honestly quite embarrassed to be canvassing for support here, but the Lego Ideas platform require creators to promote their projects to create awareness, with the hope that it will pull in support. If you would like to back this uo, please click here to go to the website, to give your support >> https://ideas.lego.com/projects/92233 FInally, design really never ends, thats what I learnt in school. If you have comments and ideas to help further improve on this project, I look forward to hearing from everyone =) With that, I thank you for reading and supporting. I hope this is a Droid you are looking for! =) regards dark grey matters https://www.flickr.c...57650561075318/

    [MOD] 10227 - UCS B-Wing

As much as I love 10227, there were areas that I felt could have been done much better. Unlike other sets in the UCS line I have seen very few mods, and those that exist have few details. I now feel I have addressed all of my gripes with the model, including a stand that lets me invert the ship, a whole new cockpit and plated S-Foil undersides. Unfortunately I didn't make my album with EB in mind (I'm sorry guys ), so my images are probably too large to embed. All I have for you now is this imgur album and I may add some images to my post later. http://imgur.com/a/uKn5z I'd like to add that I'm not happy having the MF print on the cockpit, and the half cone doesn't come in clear without a print on it! It looks OK, but does anybody know a good way of removing the print? I know many have done so with opaque parts but not trans.

Details Total boxed weight: 2,798g Dimensions: 48cm wide x 58cm long x 12 cm deep Parts: 1,487 parts Age range: 16+ UK RRP: £169.99 Introduction I’m a great fan of most UCS sets, but to be honest I was a little underwhelmed when I first saw the B-wing Starfighter, and I don’t think that I was alone. According to Brickset, it was only available in the UK from 1st October 2012 – 23rd November 2013 and I get the impression that it wasn’t a commercial success. I eventually ordered it during the 2013 ‘Brick Friday’ sale at about 30% off and it’s been sat in its delivery box ever since, which probably gives you an indication of my general level of enthusiasm for it However, I thought it was time to do a decent review of it, and to find out if my initial impressions were fair, or not. Apologies for the quality of the photos, but we’re currently in the depths of a particularly dark winter! First impressions The box is pretty large, and at 2.8kg it feels like it should be worth the RRP. It’s one of the nicer designs that we’ve had in the last few years, and I particularly like the background which includes the partially constructed Death Star and the Forest Moon of Endor. It also has a couple of random blaster bolts which are mandatory for any SW set, and typically they aren’t connecting with anything! It’s a shame about the Darth Maul banner, but you can’t have everything. The reverse isn’t quite as impressive, but it’s still quite well done. The box The contents On opening the box it's approximately two-thirds full, and includes 15 main bags (14 numbered between 1-10), 3 instruction booklets and a dreaded DSS. In defence of the latter, it only has the standard display plaque, plus three orange markings, so it could have been worse. The decision by TLG to protect the instructions by keeping them together with a cardboard insert has been a great move, and mine were in perfect condition. The build I’ve taken photos at the end of each of the numbered bag(s), and added a few of my thoughts. Bag(s) 1: The engines are constructed in two identical sections, which are joined together using small Technic axles. There’s a lot of colour in it, but it’s gradually hidden as the plates are added. First irritation is the use of two back ‘Bionicle’(?) fists near to the engines. I’m not sure if this intended to be a clever feature, as a ‘nod’ of respect to the inclusion of a toy soldier in the original Executor model, but it’s just wrong! Oh, and you also get two brick separators... I’ll add them to my ever growing pile Bag 2: Generally very straightforward to build, but quite a nice design. One thing I noticed is that there’s quite a noticeable colour difference in some of the Light-Bluish Grey parts. The bright yellow 4 x 8 plate was a bit of a shock, but is quickly buried. Bag 3: This is basically a mirror-image of the previous stage, but includes extra parts that joint both together. The combined section is then attached to the main engine block using a series of Technic pins and two axles. Note the odd use of 1 x 1 brown studs which are scattered across the build. Bag(s) 4: These build the top section of the main wing. The vast array of different colours used is really distracting (blue, green, yellow, brown, red, beige, tan, white & black), in addition to the required greys. Whilst I appreciate that a few colour markers are helpful, this is far too much for me! Bag(s) 5: Predictably, this is a mirror image of the previous stage; these are joined together and attached to the engine block. Apart from my issues with the colours, it’s well designed and uses a mixture of plates and curved slopes to create a robust, yet streamlined, shape. Bag 6: This builds the main cannon, and is the most enjoyable part of the build so far. The end result looks really impressive, although I’m not totally convinced about the flexible ‘whip’ part which looks a bit out of place. Bag 7: This takes the lead from the previous bag, and is my favourite section of the build. It includes lots of small parts, including a couple I hadn’t seen before. I particularly like the use of the tracks, which I first used in 1984! However, it's a bit reluctant to rotate, so it needs a bit of encouragement. It uses some interesting techniques, and the rear section is a beautiful shape, if a little fiddly! However, I’ll leave the ‘Elephant in the room’ to the end.... Bag 8: Yet another techicolour experience, but thankfully short-lived. The canon has a couple of interesting details, but otherwise it’s fairly standard stuff. Bag 9: This is identical to the previous bag, apart from being a mirror-image. Bag 10: This builds the stand, it’s reasonably strong and a nice design but I really don’t like part 48002a, they just look cheap! A standard Technic beam, covered in tiles would have looked far better in my opinion. The end result Overall, I’m quite impressed by it and it’s a shame that the availability was so limited. I’ve always had a soft-spot for the B-wing, despite its limited screen time; it’s one of the ships which has function above style, where everything is there for a reason. It’s a good size and would make a nice addition to any collection. It feels very solid and is very swoosh-able! However, the major flaw is the cockpit canopy which is truly awful. I appreciate that there will always be compromises, but for me it totally ruins what would otherwise be a very good UCS set. I’m not too sure where to start; it’s too small, the wrong shape and the printed areas aren’t anything like the original model According to Bricklink, the part (50986pb004) only appears in one other set which was released after this one so, logically, it was designed for it. If that’s correct, I really don’t understand how it could be so bad, just take a look at the original model from ROTJ to see what I mean! In addition, the design prevents the canopy from being opened, which seems a bit of an oversight, and a considerable problem in the event of a battle. And finally, if you look closely some of the more colourful internal parts are visible, but that’s also a problem with the SSD. Perhaps I’m a bit too picky, but it really irritates me! If you can live with the limitations of the canopy it’s a good model, and worthy of the UCS label. It’s a relaxing build, and kept me occupied for several hours. It has a nice mix of parts, and I don’t regret purchasing it. The aftermarket price for the set has gradually increased in the last year, but it’s still very affordable if you’re tempted. I hope you enjoyed my review, C&C welcome
  21. As you watch the footage of the Lego Ideas studio, sitting on the shelf i noticed this prototype: I like it, and I would probably consider buying it
  22. Apologies to Nuukeer whose artwork I have mutilated for the background. Thirteen years ago, The LEGO Group amazed everyone by releasing a Star Wars set that was clearly aimed solely at adults. 7191 X-Wing Fighter was a large-scale, accurate representation of the iconic X-Wing, and introduced to the unsuspecting world the concept of Ultimate Collector Series models - large, complicated builds, with interesting techniques and (often) parts, all with oodles of AFOL appeal. The original 7191 - with its sister 7181 Tie Interceptor - might have been seen as an experiment; years have passed, and the UCS title has (officially) disappeared, but it appears the experiment was a success and the concept lives on. Since then, we've seen most of the more famous SW vehicles released in UCS format, but it has been a long time since an X-Wing has been available at this scale without resorting to extortionate aftermarket prices. If you missed the first one, you need fret no longer: there's a new, updated version. I'm therefore proud to present a Eurobricks early review of 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter. Obviously we are keen to see how the new set shapes up, but I'll also concentrate on how she compares to her thirteen-year-old ancestor: to see if owners of the original 7191 might be tempted to shell out for the new version. In honour of this occasion, I've made a new, detailed review of the older one: read 7191 UCS X-Wing Fighter here. 7191 was a great set, but it had a few flaws. The principal ones are these: the wing attachments were weak, and there were a large numbers of STickers Across Multiple Pieces (STAMPs). Let's see how the new one deal with these issues, and also if newly-available parts have improved the overall shape. A huge thank you once again to The LEGO Group for providing this set for early review! LEGO Press Release ... Shop@Home ... Brickset ... Bricklink ... Peeron The Box Click the picture for a larger full-frontal image The 2013 Star Wars box art has a smart, attractive green tinge to the banner, matching action-Yoda's lightsaber. Recent years have seen a uniform banner for all Star WarsTM merchandise - LEGO or otherwise; it doesn't necessarily match the model in question. Action-Yoda appears only in the prequel episodes II and III; the X-Wing is very much an Original Trilogy set. Moreover, Luke's Red Five X-Wing doesn't go anywhere near the Death Star II pictured in the background; as I recall, we don't see her after Bespin in The Empire Strikes back. Questionable canon aside, I like the picture: the ship stands out nicely against the dramatic backdrop. The size of the banner (or perhaps of the box) has, however, necessitated the loss of the lower starboard laser to box oblivion. A small inset - also picked out tastefully in green - gives us an idea of the final size of the model. Around the back, we are treated to the X-Wing in display mode, replete with stand and diminutinve R2-D2, on what might possibly be a Bespin landing platform. Click the picture for a larger image Insets show the ship in her most famous role - dodging laser fire in the Death Star trench - and remind us how Luke's Red Five was responsible for the DS's destruction via physics-defying torpedoes. Further insets demonstrate the opening cockpit and wings, and small images show the ship in 'flight mode', with wings closed. The overall effect is neat but a little fussy: I'm not keen on the step between the main image border and the 'torpedo' inset, which exists only to accommodate the set number. Both sides are identical, with the exception of the 'LEGO Club' logo on the right-hand side; I wonder how necessary this is on an adult-orientated set, but I guess AFOLs have a reasonable chance of having KFOL kids! You may be pleased to see that the box opens via flaps, with no box-destruction required, and allowing easy storage for a highly collectable set. Scale is provided on the box top by the image of '1:1' R2-D2, but as he is rather lost in the model itself, the X-Wing's size information is repeated here: The bottom teaches us to say 'Small Parts' in innumerable languages, which I suppose might be useful. I was a little surprised by how big the box isn't: Measuring W 578 mm x H 371 mm x D 82 mm, it's roughly the same width as 7191, but some six centimetres shorter and only a centimetre deeper; she feels much smaller, if that makes any sense. The weight is similar: 2255 grammes compared to 7191's 2204, and there are 250 more pieces. Presumably this represents TLG's move to more environmentally-friendly packaging; we'll have to see if the larger part count translates to an 'improved' model. The Instructions You'll be pleased to see that the instructions and stickers are wrapped separately, and cardboard-backed. Three booklets are contained therein: All have the same cover image; book 3's cover is noticeably lower quality. Advertisements for the LEGO Club and the LEGO Star Wars site adorn the rear of two of them; I'll give you one guess what's on the back of the third. The dimensions of the booklet allow for a slightly larger picture of the X-Wing than the box front affords: We therefore haven't lost quite so much of the lower starboard laser. Inside, we are treated to a whole two pages showing the modular construction; the first is shown here: Here we get a little sneak preview of how the wing-opening mechanism will be achieved. I was surprised to see that the stand is built in module 6, rather than at the end as in most UCS sets. The rather bland grey-brown background persists throughout all the instruction steps: Part call-outs and sub-builds are demonstrated clearly; a quick glance suggest there won't be any issues with colour-differentiation; but when I came to build, I did encouter a little difficulty distinguishing between dark tan and light bluish-grey in artificial light. I quickly spotted the error. Insets depicting the set's principal features are repeated from the box back at the end of manual three: Click the picture for a larger image Owners of 7191 will recognise the design of the rear-end knob which opens the wings. Immediately before this is found the set's inventory, spread over three pages; see them here: Page 1, Page 2, and Page 3. The inside rear cover of manual one advertises the extensive Summer 2013 Star Wars range: I was a little disappointed to find out that we've seen all these already. I'm no Clone Wars fan, but I love that Mando Speeder. DSS There are two separate sticker sheets; the smaller sports the complex decals for the cockpit: I was fortunate to receive two of these, so I have a backup for when I screw it up. On the larger sheet are found the display plaque decal, and some detail for the wings, complete with 'battle scars', in addition to a few smaller features. Click the picture for a larger image with correct orientation It is far less complicated than the rather daunting sheet from 7191, though I'm a little disappointed to see that - it seems - the control panel and targeting computer will be stickered. UCS LEGO C-3PO Bust

'Oh hello! My name is C-3PO, human cyborg relations!' Hi guys! This is my first post on the Eurobricks Star Wars forum, so I'm sorry if things aren't 100% legit. After I built the 10018 Darth Maul Bust I wondered if it was possible to make an UCS LEGO C-3PO bust. Inspired by Erik Varsegi's life sized LEGO C-3PO I built a 1:1 life sized bust that took me 3 months. I started with yellow LEGO bricks (ordered from Bricklink), which I spray painted gold afterwards for a realistic effect. I know a lot of you don't like painting your LEGO, but this is an exception, because I will never take the bust apart and use the bricks for other purposes. Besides, ordering these bricks in gold from Bricklink is incredibly expensive, because it contains 9000+ pieces and some bricks are not available in gold. C-3PO's head can turn 180° degrees. The top of his head is removable and the inside is hollow so you have acces to the eyes. And of course, his eyes lit up like in the movie! The bust weights about 12 kilograms (26,5 pounds). May the force be with you!
  24. This morning, I came across a press release from Terex regarding an apparent new modeling partnership with Lego. This release, which my dad got, had some very interesting information, especially for us Technic builders. April Fools! The above quote is quite interesting, as it would seem to imply that the models will be produced at both town and Technic scale. This is backed up by another part of the release, a brochure of the sets to be launched this year. The most relevant to us are the following: 31006, Terex AC-200 Price: 300 USD Part count: 3176 Note: the prices were converted from Euros, by me, so consider them approximate. Going by the price, this model is about the size of 42009, but with more panels and likely more Power Functions parts. In the pamphlet is a small picture, indicating that the model will not be in corporate livery, but in the colors of Wagenborg. 31007, AC 1000 Price: $700 Part count: 9238 Yikes! this is probably the range topper for the cranes, as indicated by the fact that it has much more of a description, indicating the development is farther along. Build the mightiest crane of the Terex stable! With full Power Functions control, and an impressive, 3 meter long main boom, the largest lifts seem small. Measures over 3 meters tall when fully erected. Fully Motorized functions, just like real Variable steering Realistic lights Other liveries and luffing jib to come. I've seen a picture of it in the brochure, it's so big it's in two boxes, and is in corporate livery, meaning it has lots of white parts. the boom seems to be a hybrid of new and regular studless panels, and the outriggers make extensive use of the new 3x11 panels. Finally, the boom raising cylinders appear to be new, modular linear actuators, as are the tires, which appear to be the same size as the old 24x43 tires, but for modern rims. I want this, so much. Both of the above sets are slated for an August 2014 release, and there is more planned, two models a month throughout the rest of 2014 and into 2015. Better start saving, because some of the future ones sound cool. ????? AK-912 GT I only saw a brief mention of this, and a few other things that do not correspond to anything in Terex's current product lineup, which indicates that they were not kidding about making the Gottwald stuff, as the AK-912 was a Gottwald product. It had a picture, but no set number, and it appears to have the full boom, and derrick, with both being studless lattice structures, apparently with a new part in them. Well, that's all I've got for now, I may upload some scans and more info in the future. APRIL FOOLS!!!!!!
