  1. Hi All, Although I have posted a few pictures previously, I wanted to make a proper writeup of my Trial Unimog alternate of the Zetros set (42129), because I think sharing the design process is valuable for people around here. Also, I am going to share my thoughts about the set itself as a parts pack. But for the curious ones, here's an action video of the end result and a short summary of the features: Features: - good actual outdoor performance :) - permanent AWD, no differentials - 2-speed gearbox, faster gearing than Zetros - relatively large increase in ground clearance - 4-link suspension on the back, large articulation, soft suspension - 3-link suspension with Panhard rod on the front, slightly larger and softer articulation than the Zetros - opening (and lockable) doors and trunk bed When building alternate models, I always try to build something different from the A model, both functionally and in its looks. So when considering what to build out of the Zetros, keeping the Mercedes brand but going for a different form factor, my first idea was a G-Wagon - quickly taken by Grohl himself. Then I though, let's fall back to a Jeep - also taken quickly by Tim.. Unimog was on my list of potential alternates, but I wasn't sure about it yet. But one thing was sure: I wanted to improve the actual off-road performance over the Zetros. So putting the form factor aside a bit, I started experimenting with chassis and suspension designs. One option I had in mind was to keep the live axle setup, but improve it to make it actually useful for off-roading: increase suspension travel, ground clearance and responsiveness. Furthermore, I wanted to see how lightweight the axles could be built, because the Zetros's axles are pretty bulky. I was okay with doing away with the diff-lock, since I wanted to use the M motor for a 2-speed gearbox anyway (just like others). During experimentation with axle designs and suspension travel, I have realized that the 3-link live axle setup of the Zetros is not only limited by the springs' short travel, but also by the 3rd link on the top. That link cannot rotate sideways on the chassis side and is mounted very high on the axles, and as the axle tilts, its top can move sideways significantly, and as the link cannot follow it sideways, it limits the axle's tilting movement; hence very limited articulation. The setup only works for a short range of movement as on the Zetros, which is limited anyway by the springs, but cannot work for a setup that aims for more articulation. One way out of this is to allow the 3rd link to rotate and follow the side movement of the tilting axle, but then the axle needs fixing sideways. There are two ways to fix that. Either a 4-link triangulated setup, or a 3-link setup with a Panhard rod. Although the Zetros does use a Panhard rod at the front, it is unrealistically mounted and too short, that would cause kind of bump-'steer' for larger axle articulation (not exactly bump steer, but more like shifting the whole axle sideways). So after taking the limited number of suspension parts into account (only 6 towball sockets left out of 10 since 4 must be used for mounting the front wheel hubs, and only 1 6L link available in the set), I opted for the following design: on the rear axle, I used 4 towball sockets for a 4-link triangulated setup with long links, allowing the upper links to rotate sideways and follow the movement of the axle. The springs are attached to the middle of the lower links. This allows for long upwards movement of the axle at the end of the links, and makes the suspension much softer even with the hard springs. Pretty solid and allows for large articulation, just what I wanted. Furthermore, the axle itself is quite slim and rigid, and has good ground clearance, especially in the middle where it's most needed (as proven by my off-road tests). The front axle was more challenging. First off, increasing the ground clearance is only possible with one trick: the towball socket liftarms must be built at an angle, going upwards in the middle, and that limits possibilities. Second, the steering motor and its mounting takes space on the axle, and is in the way for the suspension mounting points. I have experimented with two other options: steering through a driveshaft coming from the chassis, but the placement of the motor in the chassis was problematic do to space required by all other motors and the battery, along with the largely articulated suspension design; second I tried to put the steering motor above the front axle, actuating steering through a linkage system. Although, this worked quite well mechanically (verified with the Powered Up app), unfortunately, the Control+ app itself killed this direction: the app limits the steering motor angle to about a 25 degrees less than the calibrated range, which is normally 90 degrees or motor rotation, resulting in about 65 degrees in case of the Zetros (that's why it's steering is so bad by the way). Now in my alternative steering design, the max calibrated angle would have been 45 degrees, and the 25 degrees minus by the app resulted in about 20 degrees of movement, resulting in almost no actual steering at the axle. Pretty sad that you can build something mechanically sound and then not able to control it with the app :( So I fell back to mounting the motor on the axle, and used the remaining 2 towball sockets for two lower links, which again, I built longer to allow for a bit more articulation. Luckily, I was able to mount the motor in a way that it allowed to use the single 6L link as the 3rd link, allowing free sideways tilting movement of the axle, as it is attached to a towball pin on the chassis end as well. I also experimented with the spring mounting technique of the rear, but it was weak and wobbly on the front without the 4-link setup, so I went back to mounting the springs on the axle. However, I managed to move the springs closer to the center of the axle, resulting in both slightly larger articulation and softer suspension. Finally, the axle is fixed sideways by a long Panhard rod going from one end of the chassis to the other end of the axle, eliminating bump 'steer' quite well even at larger articulation. As a side note about parts, it would be really nice if the set had another 6L link somewhere, for example as a Panhard rod on the rear axle. It could be used to build another 4-link suspension to the front, and also as a steering link in an independent setup (which is problematic to build for other reasons as well). So after sorting out the two axles and the suspension, I though this could be used in a Unimog chassis. Though not too different in form from the Zetros, but at least it keeps the brand. Furthermore, I decided to make it different in its functions: the first step was focusing on a proper suspension. The second was the drivetrain. And that also caused some difficulties. Unimogs are short. You'd think that's not a big problem at this scale, as many RC Unimogs have been built before, but it is with the latest drivetrain parts. The new CV joint with a sliding axle hole is a whopping 8 studs long!! (Compare that to a 3L U-joint; sure, the CV joint has the axle built in on one side, but this construction limits builds quite a bit. Not sure why the new sliding variant needed to be 2 studs longer, I thought it would be just 1 longer, enough for the sliding, which is typically about half a stud, but 1 stud max). So two of those, plus, two non-sliding ones at 6 studs length, and your driveshaft is already 28 studs long. Add to that the amount of space required by the differentials (2 studs on each end until the axle center), and your axle distance cannot be less than 32 studs. Add one more to get a nice odd length middle section, and we are at 33 studs from axle to axle. It is quite long for a Unimog. (As a side note, I tried to split the driveshaft in two halves, shifted sideways in the opposite direction to let them overlap in length and hence make things shorter, but it did not work out due to the axle length limitation of the CV joint part and also space limitations from the motors). So because of this, and other considerations I decided to do away with the differentials altogether. It saves 2 studs in length. It allows for a slightly faster 12T / 20T gearing; the Zetros is just too slow. Furthermore, it allows for larger ground clearance, as the differential does not stick out from the axle. It even allows for a slimmer axle design, as there is more space in all directions, such as for mounting the steering motor. And last but not least: no differential - no need to lock them :) With unlocked differentials the off-road performance would be bad anyway. Once I settled for the length and the drivetrain, I needed to place the remaining motors and the gearbox. I was able to sandwich the gearbox between the drive motors, and put the gearbox's driveshaft motor on top, the flip-flop beams and the frames proved to be very useful for building a strong but lightweight chassis. The final challenge was the driveshaft from the gearbox motor. I am not sure why TLG used this motor here as it is super cumbersome to work with. It needs substantial down-gearing (and the right amount for your actual application, which is 180 degrees final turn for a gearbox, but 90 degrees for a diff-lock), a clutch mechanism for safety and physical end stops for calibration. These all take up space as they need to be routed somewhere. Things would have been much easier with another L motor.. (Maybe to make the set slightly cheaper? Or TLG is trying to get rid of these motors on stock? They don't seem to fit well into the PU system without positional control.) Anyway, finally the chassis of the Unimog was complete. I used the remaining CV joints to connect the drive to the spinning fan in the front :) The rest was just bodywork and placing that big hub somewhere. I opted for roughly the same position in the cab as the Zetros, but with the cables inside, to allow easy access to the batteries for replacement. For the design and styling, I took some inspiration from online sources like this one because of its color scheme, but I wanted to minimize the cab length as there weren't enough panels for a 4-door version. I built the cab with no opening hood to make it solid :) And also made the doors lockable to avoid them opening automatically when driving around.. Finally, the black panels were just the right size and amount to cleanly finish the bed, both the sides and the floor. The bed floor opens (but lockable) to see the gearbox, and to give room for accessing the batteries. I have also added fenders and the usual decoration like the rollbars, exhaust pipe, mirrors, ladders. Here are some renders of the whole build. As you can see, I did not use any green parts, as they would have only added clutter to the otherwise clean bodywork I think. Some more notes about the parts of the set apart from the ones mentioned above. The set has a good amount of paneling and beams and connectors, although the green parts are a bit less useful since they are limited in number and size. Another shortcoming of the set is the available gears. It has all sizes, but their number is lacking in some cases and hence high gearing ratios are hard to achieve. For example if you try to deviate from the default drivetrain, those gears will be missing for example for a simple down-gearing for the gearbox motor.. More images can be found on Bricksafe. Building instructions are available on Rebrickable. I did not know too much about Unimogs in the beginning, but during the research and designed process I actually came to like Unimogs quite a bit. I like that they are compact but seemingly efficient machines, and the trial versions actually look pretty cool. And I am actually quite happy with the end result. Let me know how you like it and your opinion on the set's parts! Cheers, Viktor

  3. Hey everyone! I'm back with a pretty simple design: a Mercedes Uniknick trial truck. It's inspired by this guy: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VEsdl_dPoZk The functions are straightforward: - Steering with L motor and two small actuators -Power with 2 XL motors and no diff's -Steering is a turntable at the centre of the truck -PF LED lights -BuWizz power Here's the video and some pictures. Again, it was just a simple build, but the final performance and look was pretty pleasing to me :) And the reference: More images at my bricksafe: https://bricksafe.com/pages/Teo_LEGO_Technic/mercedes-uniknick Enjoy guys!
  4. GMC c4500 Ironhide He killed a total of about 20 evenings after working on the assembly. Spent about 2000 parts. The design of the entire filling is very complex, a gearbox with a double clutch and a double row of gears (so as not to disrupt under loads) and two gears (lower and higher), differential units (no one has yet seen that there are blocks of both bridges on similar lego cars ), the suspension so that when it works, it doesn’t hurt anything even when the wheels are turned up and the maximum squeeze, a connected winch, plus the location of all the motors in the mind (1 servo, 2 M-motors and 3 L-motor drive), battery pack and two receivers while the center of gravity was like mine it’s lower, plus the design and appearance itself all this made me explode my brain and spend a lot of time. 2017 year problem with photo, not loading https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IxqSjZ2bfek&feature=youtu.be Thank you for watching
  5. Hey everyone! First of all Happy New Year to everybody! Here's my last MOC of 2019, a URAL 4320 4x4 Trial Truck. It features: -working steering with servo motor and adjustable working steering wheel -4x4 drive with 2 differentials powered by 2 x power functions XL motors, and fed by 2 x 2.0 pf receivers and 2 x lithium battery boxes -opening doors -working lights A couple pictures of the model, more on here: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/Teo_LEGO_Technic/ural-truck My main goal with this project was to make a robust trial truck with tons of ground clearance and tons of torque and solid steering, while not having anything be at risk of breaking. For this reason I have an XL on each axle, as a 5 x 7 frame with a differential can hold the full torque of one XL without damage to the gears. Extra torque was achieved by using the Unimog portal axles. The truck can stand Sariel's wall test, i.e. when the wheels lock up on a grippy terrain no gears break anywhere. The steering is also precise, with no intermediate gears between the servo motor and the rack and pinion system. It too can handle the full power of the servo without any danger of breakage. The suspension too is robust and meant to operate as smoothly as possible. Putting the battery boxes low down on the sides helps it be as difficult to topple over as possible, bearing in mind how high it is off the ground. My secondary goal was to emulate the rugged look of Ural trucks, which only look as good as they should when every little curve and angle is modelled like the real thing. This includes the curvature of the front grill, the form of the bonnet, the angled headlight frames, and the subtly angles and tilted front windshield. I'm fairly satisfied with the result, and overall it's a truck I'm pretty happy with. Nothing super fancy, no gearbox, just a solid chassis and a good-looking body. Hope you guys enjoyed it!!
  6. Hi everyone! I'm glad to present you the third version of my trial truck with a long prehistory and a slightly unusual design Lego Indominus Mk3 by Alexey Tikhvinsky, on Flickr Some history now: In the far-distant 2015 @Lucio Switch has built a titanic airfield firetruck that made a strong impression on me. The stunning set of functions, motorization, scale and appearance of this monster inspired me to build a modification. Searching for parts and construction took about a year. I wanted to not just change the color scheme or somehow improve already perfect truck - I wanted a total rework of the entire transmission, body and concept in general As a result, we got a truck with a loud name "Indominus Rex" and a claim to conquer the off-road. The 4 most powerful motors (5292) produced by Lego ever, differentials with limited slip (thanks @efferman for idea), planetary gear reduction in each of the eight wheels - all this allowed to overcome quite serious obstacles, even with weight of the model (6 kilograms) and dimensions (92x25x25 centimeters). Modification, judging by the opinions of AFOLs and the victory at the MOCs exhibition in Moscow Megabricks museum, turned out quite good. The flatbed body, a thin (3 pins) frame, a relief roof with air intakes and off-road rubber did their work - the truck moved away from the original as much as possible with the help of some solutions and design features. In the same 2016, in a New Year eve, I made another modification of the ACT truck. Indominus-2 was created specifically to participate in the winter truck trail competition in Moscow. No differentials, reduced weight (3.5 kilograms) with the same dimensions. Design was primitive, while preserving the common features of the original "front end". No serious ambition in the construction of this truck, it was initially clear that with its dimensions, it will not pass the road for off-road trucks. As a result, of course, the distance was overcome, but at the cost of one repair and loss of drive on three wheels out of eight (actually twelve, the two rear axles were with twin wheels) But a large number of positive emotions and feedback pushed me to an idea that this truck has not been exhausted yet. There were several attempts to build modifications of the same airfield truck in different versions, which ended, however, at the stage of creating the chassis (I wanted to do something fundamentally more light and durable). Later, I was distracted by building the truck with a crane from, again, @Lucio Switch This truck, being assembled completely in the original version, absorbed almost all my electrics, the technic frames and, in general, almost all the parts (17 motors, three battery packs, 13 meters of pneumohoses, 16 pneumatic cylinders and 131 technic panels). The idea of building another truck on the same scale from the remaining assortment of parts seemed simply insane. And at the beginning of 2018 I found a solution to two problems at once. I figured out how to build both an original and not too expensive in parts truck, which at the same time would inherit design and performance from its two predecessors. Why build the next four-axle monster, when the 4x4 format for trucks is still looks pretty? In addition, there was an opportunity to test my strength in terms of creating a MOC, and not modification. Lego Indominus Mk3 by Alexey Tikhvinsky, on Flickr I left only some recognizable elements from the original truck, which allowed to identify it as Indominus-3: сontours of the cabin, individual elements of the body kit, doors. The functional was done with an eye to the fact that this truck will participate in the February truck trial in Moscow (by the way, riding at -15C degrees turned out to be very "fun", even filming was not possible, everything was frozen, including phones and cameras). But, despite the "competitive" orientation, the equipment turned out to be more like the first version of Indominus: limited slip differentials (three pieces: front, rear and center), chains on wheels (homemade, from the jewelry chain), complex exterior and interior (with Duplo penguins!) Lego Indominus Mk3 by Alexey Tikhvinsky, on Flickr In additional: old pneumatic shock absorbers (very soft and long-stroke), anti-roll bar on both axles, portal gear reduction in pair to wheel planetary gear reduction. I used: 2х Buwizz v2, 4x RC buggy motor (5292), 1x Servo motor, 4x extension wire and Android app made by @imurvai to control this truck with gamepad (works very well and smooth, by the way) Lego Indominus Mk3 by Alexey Tikhvinsky, on Flickr In the end, in my opinion, this truck turned out quite bright and sturdy, and even with 4.5 kilograms weight can handle some offroad in the conditions of russian winter Lego Indominus Mk3 by Alexey Tikhvinsky, on Flickr I hope you liked this orange buddy as much as I do If someone is interested, I'll try to make a detailed review of technical features (with schematics and colorful pictures, yes ), video and some photos of the "nude" chassis. In conclusion, I want to thank @Shurik for great photos and @Limga for his endless patience and support throughout my entire AFOL path! Thank you all for attention! Update: I found a photo from the competition. One of the participants struggled to help me with a loose climb up the hill Update #2: Just filmed a little adventure in snow https://youtu.be/oVwOIyrj6wQ Update #3: Added a video with summer offroad https://youtu.be/CXFRc0i4dWg Update #4: Fun crawling video https://youtu.be/fusAL80vCZI
  7. Hello dear friends! Please let us (yes, today - we are both with ADCchannel are the authors) introduce the latest MOC - today this is Mercedes-Benz G-class 6X6 Trial edition. This truck (definitely it is!) is our common project. I was always dreaming of creating my own implementation of this greatest version of legendary Gelandewagen. I build the body with pleasure and know that ADCchannel riched senior skills in building chassis for truck trial, so I offered hiw some kind of collaboration. Luckily, he immediately agreed. The main difficulty was that we are living in different cities, but not far from. So, couple of month were spent truck is ready. To be honest body itself is absolutely new. From my previous G class Mansory edition I took only front view and side doors. Roof, interior, body frame is completely new. Mandatory point was to create easily removable body. So, you can split body from frame removing only six axles (easy to remove). Some description, though :) This monster is propelled by 3 XL motors - one per each axle. M motor for steering and we decide to power truck bu Buwizz. But it's ready to use regular Lego IR receivers. Suspension has 3 portal axles like original Mercedes. We use 7 Claas tires (actually 6 + 1 third party). Everything what can be opened - is openable - hood, doors, trunk. Unfortunately there were no room for any V8 engine due to front suspension construction. First purpose was to build truck suitable for trial. Here are the two different(!) videos. Feel free to watch and comment. Any critics would be highly appreciated. Dimensions: - Wide - 25 studs, - Lengh - 72 studs Here are some photos from bricksafe page: https://www.bricksafe.com/pages/Aleh/mercedes-benz-g-class-6x6 Pictures will be uploaded in a couple of hours. Some technical issues for now.
  8. Presenting another trial truck - 4x4 - PF: XL, Servo, IR, LiPo - Leaf spring front suspension - Double soft shock rear suspension - Panhar rods for both axles - Opening hood - Removable body. Prepared it for the Trial contest in Moscow, but couldn't come there, then participated in the Truck Trial competition in St. Petersburg. You can watch the performance here: Time: 13:41 and 54:33.
  9. Thunder Dragon Trial is one of the most dangerous trials in the entire land. No one had ever beaten the thunder dragon before. Warriors who pass the trial shall master the power of storm. Now, Lord Elveon is about to challenge the impossible... C & Cs are welcome.
  10. Hello everyone, My new creation is a big Tatra. It is my first 8x8. All problems of size, weight, friction and powertrain were the most challenging for me. Total weight: 2790g 2 hard coupled XL motors for 8 wheel drive without differentials. They are connected to each output of V2 receiver #2, powered by 8878 battery of left side. (Motors of the rest are connected to V2 #1, powered by 8878 of right side) 1st and 2nd axle are steered in different angles by 2 L motors. M motor for 2 speed heavy duty gearbox. 9:1 (high) 25:1 (low) Working steering wheel and V12 engine. Openable hood and doors. External roll cage and LED lights are easily removable. This is my suspension setup. The central axle is free from the friction by the force of suspension movement. Each 6.5L springs limit the angle of swinging half-axles. In these limited angles, bevel gears smoothly engage. Since the building process was complicated, I haven't made instructions yet. Hopefully it will be available in a few weeks. I drove it in high gear in most part of the video. Despite heavy weight, not a single gear was damaged. In low gear, it is surprisingly powerful. Video: Building instructions and more pictures: https://plus.google.com/u/0/photos/117021167471864977943/albums I hope you will like it!
  11. Hello everyone. This is my first MOC that I am not ashamed of showing;) Ural 4320 on a shortened 4wheel basis. - 2 XL paired for driving - m motor for steering - m motor for 2step gearbox - m motor for rear differential lock - openable hood and doors - live axles with portal hubs - flexible flat body-chassis - powered by Buwizz 2.0 Total weight is 1800g. Length - 0,52 meters. Width - 0,26 meters. The idea was to make a trial truck in a bigger scale but still capable of handling heavy offroad. The model was inspired by Madoca's Jeep Concept and has the same general idea. Including paired 24x8 low gear and a 16x16 fast gear. Plus the portal hubs. But it is 4 more studs wider and ~10 more studs longer. It has live axles and a flexible body which results in a really stable construction. As of a few hours of heavy outdoor testing it didn't roll over once. As it was the first MOC I focused on the functionality rather than on design. Feel free to give me a punch for scarcity of design;) It looks odd but drives really well on a low gear. On a faster gear the 2 paired XL motors start chewing on the gears while offroading, On the flat surface it's fine though. Originally it just had a straight m motor to the 8x24 gear for steering, but due to heavy tension the gears or the motor were going off its clips. So I decided to make a steering through the small line actuator fixated in every possible way. As a result it was super sturdy and stable. The chassis (looks pretty compact without tractor wheels): Gearbox: Hope you like it Let me know what you think of it!
  12. Hello. Today I want to introduce my competition truck for this year's Czech LEGO truck trial competition. Original Vehicle: My MOC is based on Ural 4x4 that was raced by a Polish team of Ostaszevski 4x4 Team for a few years. The truck participated regularly in European cross-country rallies and truck trial competitions (according to photos). I did not find any technical data of the vehicle, just photos. But you can see different evolutions of the vehicle: changing frond end from Ural 375 to newer Ural 4320, changing color of a roll cage, changing wheels and, of course, adding scars to the vehicle. An interesting feature is the roll cage, which is attached at the front by a pivot pin. This makes it possible to twist the chassis frame of the vehicle without breaking the roll cage (this can be seen on czech Praga V3S trial specs). Even more interesting is that the racing team moved the front axle ahead in compare with serial Ural truck. This improved the weight balance between front and rear axles and at the same time increased the approach angle. I chose this this vehicle as a base for two reasons: 1) I built Ural 4320 6x6 when I started participating in Czech LEGO truck trial competition four years ago. And this year I wanted to prove myself that I improved my building skill and I wanted to create a nicer model. 2) The Ural Team Ostaszevski is the most interesting competition 4x4 truck I've ever seen. Especially on desert photos it looks like Mad Max kind of truck. MOC: Scale of the model is 1:12.5 (1 stud = 10 cm). Dimensions: width 26 studs, length 57 studs, wheelbase 38 studs. Weight: 1600 g. I think all basic proportions are accurate to one stud (sometimes half). Only the front bumper is wider than it should be (required by our competition technical rules) and wheel rims have a larger diameter. But tire circumference is all right. Even the longitudinal beams of the chassis frame correspond to the original. There are two PF Large motors that drive all four wheels through the 16:16, 20:12, 20:12, 24:8 gearing. There are no differentials in the drivetrain, but the rear axle drive is able to disengage. This is controlled by a pneumatic piston, but due to the wrong design of the disconnection it does not work anymore (actually worked when it was new). The PF Medium motor is used to steer the front axle. Due to steering geometry, Ackermann's steering is achieved (the inner wheel turns more). And steering wheel is connected so it rotates while steering. Other equipment required by competition rules: manual winch, front and rear tow hooks, seat belts and attaching points for number plates. Drive ability: I tried to get the most accurate imitation of the original truck with cost of worse off-roading ability at competitions. For example: approach and departure angle could be better, the cab is heavy and those tires do not have a best offroad thread. But it is better than I expected. The axles are not sprung (the axle does not have any travel), but I use the torsionally soft chassis frame. Just like the mentioned Praga V3S truck. That was probably the most difficult for me. Design two longitudinal beams, just soft in torsion, stiff to bend and not break apart while twisting. This was done and chassis flex is quite nice. Also the wheel travel looks natural (not as a turntable on one of the axles, the rest stays stiff). I also like that the entire drivetrain is hidden in the chassis frame. Only the steering motor protrudes under the bonnet. It is compact and the chassis itself reminds a chassis of real truck. The chassis, the cab and the flat bed are independent modules as in a real truck design. The thing Porsche 42056 was promising, but did not match that. To be honest, it has some technical issues: 1) Gearwheels mounted to L motors (16tooth) wind up long grass in between them. 2) As already mentioned, disconnecting of real axle drive has stopped working. 3) In the last section of the second race, the front axle U-joint has cracked. 4) I do not believe the 24 tooth gearwheels in front wheel hubs. But they have not broken on the Ural yet. Anyway, the biggest weakness during competitions is the driver for sure :D Car control: I believed you noticed there is not a single battery box on the truck. That is correct. In our trial competition rules is drive-by-wire allowed. We know it looks lame, but there are main reasons for that: 1) Weight reduction - Batteries are part of your controller and car doesn’t have to carry them. 2) Control precision - LEGO offers only IR remote control (so far) and that is useless outside on direct sunlight. 3rd party receivers were forbidden until last season (100% pure LEGO), but sBrick is allowed since this year. Still, no one use it because it not as precise as old 9V BBox and because of weight. 3) Pneumatic control - we can use pneumatic hoses for diff locking, gear shifting or suspension adjusting. You can do that remotely as well, but it will cost you lost of additional weight and no one would do that anymore. And don’t think we tow out cars by cable. That is forbidden, of course and our official is strict about that. --- For more photos look here: https://www.zonerama.com/Link/Album/4391387 To see where it got that dirty, look at video of 2nd race: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=g9Gnw0XoFHU --- I use Zonerama instead of Flickr and I am not able to insert pictures.

  14. Conclusion A quiet day ended with the demise of Tony (jluck). The jurors seemed to be like lambs to the slaughter, falling silently into line behind Gary Johnson (Kintober). "Mama mia! You can't do this me-!" Night fell, and a dark shadow snuck out to do its dastardly business. "I was wondering when you were going to show up." With that bold statement, Gary lunged at the shadow, knocking the gun from its hand! "Now let's find out who you really are, Ballagio scum!" It was none other than Tina Hooper (Umbra-Manis)! "Tina! I trusted you! I protected you!" Tina snarled back "That was your mistake!" Gary steadied the gun and levied it at Tina's head. "I'm going to finish this once and for all." "GARY! Put the gun down!" boomed the judge, emerging from the emergency elevator access hatch. "She's too dangerous to be left alive! I have to finish this!" "Gary... if you do you're no better than them. Give me the gun." Gary sighed and passed the gun to Judge Justuss. "Thank you Gary. You're making the right choice..." **bang** "...just not for you." "Nice work Tina. That's all of them. I'm afraid we don't have enough jurors for a trial anymore, but we can still get Sleaze out. I don't care either way, as long as I get my money. Our driver is bringing the car around, you go retrieve the boss. He's in block A113 on the ground floor." "And what are you going to do?" inquired Tina. "I've got a... surprise for our friend Anthony." There was just one small problem... Chief McCain had other plans. Dawn broke over a police barricade. "Come out with your hands up! We will shoot!" The judge emerged, a gun and detonator in his hands. "Evening gentlemen... let's not make this harder than it needs to be. I'm holding here a deadman's trigger. You kill me and you, me, my colleagues, your colleagues, what's rest of the jury, and this whole city block goes up in one big fireball." The Chief let loose an exasperated sigh and turned to his officers. "Guns down men. Let them go. I want a bomb squad and SWAT team sweeping the building ASAP." Anthony Dodson (Actor Builder) was one such hostage. As a matter of fact, he was the only hostage. "Last time I was chained up to a box of explosives, it was by a group of scantily-clad Caribbean women on the island of Guetamala... I think I preferred that to a crusty old judge, but hey, I'll take what I can get." Back down at street-level, the Ballagio's driver arrived - Jared Hartman (Kwatchi)! "Get in losers, we're running from the law!" "Right on time Jared. Thank you for indulging my sense of humor, Chief. I'm sure we'll meet again." "This isn't over!" yelled the Chief through gritted teeth. "Well of course not. We're only just beginning!" Congratulations to the winners, the Ballagio Crime Family, consisting of Umbra-Manis and Kwatchi! Huge thanks to everyone for playing, I had a blast hosting. Full roles, actions, thoughts, and player analysis to follow.
  15. This is my biggest technic creation (so far). It's trying to be a Tatra 813 8x8 truck, with a shorter cab. 2 XL motors provide traction for all wheels and an M motor steers the 2 front axles. For now it will remain like this, as it will enter the Rolug Winter Trial Truck contest and needs to be as light as possible, but after the contest I'd like to continue working on it. I think it would be a good off-road tow truck/mobile crane or a drill rig carrier 20180123_190938 by tamas lapsanszki, on Flickr 20180103_090528 by tamas lapsanszki, on Flickr 20180101_003044 by tamas lapsanszki, on Flickr 20180101_002001 by tamas lapsanszki, on Flickr

  17. DAY 6 The jury deliberated long and hard, finally deciding it was time for Stephanie Diaz (Lady K) to face the music. The police led her away in chains. "Good riddance" muttered Tony (jluck). Night time fell, and the citizens went about their normal routines... Anthony Dodson (Actor Builder) chased down the bus after leaving his pants there for the third time this week... ...while Gary Johnson (Kintober) went pickaxe shopping. "Welp, I guess this pickaxe is as good as the next..." Finally, the sun rose on the bedraggled jurors occupying the courthouse. "Just five of y'all left... Stephanie Diaz (Lady K) was another member of the Town. I think we're at a tipping point, and there's still a chance, however slim, to stop Sleaze from throwing this trial. 18. DAY 5 The jury was in, and Amanda Callahan (Khscarymovie4) was out. Chief McCain briskly took her away for questioning. Night found Brock Martin (Tariq j) sitting quietly on a bench, wondering who to interview for the next segment on his show. "You can interview me!" said a dark figure, appearing suddenly to Brock's side. "Really?" "No, you can't! I hate paparazzi!" With that, a muffled gunshot silenced the legendary voice of radio forever. Downtown, Clifford Schauer (LegoMonorailFan) was making his last delivery of the day, and of his life, though he didn't know it yet. "Damn! This box is heavy!" He rapped loudly on the door to rouse whatever sleeping soul lay within. Instead of a kindly old lady or disgruntled deliveryman, Clifford got a shotgun in the face. "This will teach you for not keeping your nose out of other people's business!" Clifford's body tumbled over the railings, and the sand around him slowly turned red as a grim reminder not to cross the crime families of Brickton, Brickslyvania. The sun rose, and Judge Justuss addressed the six remaining members of the jury. "Morning fellas. I have some good news and some bad news. The good news first: there's few enough of you left that we can move from the sidewalk to the conference room. That's neat, and should stop my arthritis from flaring up. Oh, and Brock was another member of the Moletti Crime Family. Unfortunately, Amanda and Clifford were both Innocent Townsfolk. I can't help but notice we still haven't caught any of Sleaze's crew - the Ballagios. Please do better today, I fear we may be fast running out of time." 21. DAY 3 Dusk fell as Alan Andrews (KotZ) returned from a long day of deliberation in the courthouse. "I hope this trial gets over soon so I can get back to my trees... I love trees. They're really the only ones that understand me." He was approached by a dark figure. "What can I do for you, stranger?" The shadow replied only with a blast from his shotgun. The shadow smiled grimly as Alan slumped forward. "Sorry Alan, but it looks like you've chopped your last tree." Elsewhere, Harry Oldman (fhomess) looked for somewhere to refill his dwindling supply of booze. "Dez said his shop should be somewhere around here..." A dark figure emerged from an alleyway, and Harry turned to face him. "You know where I can find Mr. Hunter's legitimate storefront enterprise? I've been looking every-" He was interrupted with a shotgun shell that narrowly missed him, shattering his bottle instead. "Hey-!" The second shot found its mark, bringing the story of the grizzled vet to a grizzly end as his blood mixed with shards of broken glass on the cold sidewalk. Morning came and the judge addressed the remaining jurors. "Gentlemen and women of the jury, I have some terrible news. Two of our own, Mr. Oldman and Mr. Andrews, were found dead last night. The police are investigating their deaths as homicides, and urge anyone with information to come forward. A thorough examination of their bodies has lent us some important information, however - Mr. Oldman was a loyal member of the Town. Even more troubling is our results on Mr. Andrews. He was affiliated with neither the town nor Sleaze's crew, but rather their rival the Moletti Crime Family. Make of that what you will, but it may have serious repercussions for the rest of our trial. Please, bring the chief and I whatever monster is responsible for the deaths of these men. You are dismissed." 22. DAY 2 A dark figure crept silently over the rooftops, as if up to some nefarious deed... But it was just Amanda Callahan (Khscarymovie4) practicing her new cheer routine. "OH EMMM GEEEEE absolutely cannot wait to put this on my Instasnapfacegramchaterbook! The girls are gonna LOVE IT!" Elsewhere, Tony (jluck) ran across an abandoned hotdog cart on his evening stroll. "Well, can't let this go to waste!" *munch* Morning dawned on... eleven jurors. "Hey, where's Cathy?" asked Jared Hartman (Kwatchi). "Who am I going to play BotBS with now...?" Judge Justuss spoke up. "Unfortunately, Cathy fell ill yesterday and has requested to be dismissed from the jury. Jimmy Hessler (Steamdemon), the construction worker, will be taking her place. So make him feel welcome. Or don't. He'll probably get killed off soon anyways. Other than that, not much to report. Quiet night. So, do your thing, maybe turn someone over to the Chief and I to question today. I've been itching to do some... uh... interrogating. Let's call it that." 23. DAY 1 In the dusty city of Brickton, Bricksylvania, a nervous crowd had gathered outside the town hall. They yelled annoying things, like "When are you going to let us in!" and "Let's get this trial over with!" Finally, the majestic judge Neil Justuss stepped out of the building. "Gentlemen and women of the jury. I have some bad news. I believe our trial has been... compromised, and even now members of the Ballagio crime family walk among you." *collective gasp* "I know, I know, it's terrible. The obvious course of action would be to simply dismiss all of you and select a new jury, but Chief McCain here has a better idea. He suggested to me we let you vote off one person each day, and the Chief and I will haul them away to jail for questionably legal interrogation in order to root out the members of the mafia and preserve the integrity of this court. We know they are among us, and we can't let this chance to crack down on organized crime slip away. Good luck." 24. BREAKING NEWS: Notorious crime boss Sleaze Ballagio has been arrested for money laundering. The trial is fast approaching, but Judge Neil Justuss is justifiably worried that the jury selection process has been rigged! Members of the Bellagio crime family have infiltrated the jury, and are working even now to throw the trial in their favor. Will the townsfolk be able to identify the biased jury members among them before Sleaze walks free? Welcome back to Eurobricks mafia! It's been too long. To sign up, please answer the following questions: 1) Have you played Mafia on Eurobricks before more than once? 2) Will you be active and available (ie don't sign up if you're planning a three-week hike in the Swiss Alps with no internet access!) for the next 4-6 weeks? 3) On a scale on 1 to 12, how mad will you be if the game makes no attempt to follow "proper" courtroom procedure? Signups will run for a little bit after we get 12 players. If more than 12 sign up (which would be great, means more people are interested in more games) players with at least one game under their belt will be prioritized over brand-new players, since this isn't a School. Any issues after that will be decided by lottery. So... signup! Tell your friends! Tell your enemies! Tell your second cousins, Eurobricks Mafia is back on the menu! I promise you it will be at least moderately interesting.
