    Moc - Winter Wonderland

Hi everybody! I want to present you a little scene I build for the Brickset Festive Building Competition. ~ Rudolf stood still on the wide wintry fields. ~ The frozen grass sparkled blue in the dim morning light. ~ Today was the day. Santa's sleigh was already outside ~ and soon the gifts would be loaded. ~ Then finally! He would be able to fly! ~ For the first time - out in the cold windy sky. I hope you all like it! -Skalldyr

    [MOC] Forgotten Ruins

This is a MOC that was created to go with big fantasy diorama "Studogrod", that was displayed in Warsaw on Polish LUG LugPOL exhibition. I wanted to create some ruins that has been taken over by a tree as time went by. I spent some time creating some instructions for it as well - you can find them on Rebrickable under this link. All photos of this MOC can be found here. If you happen to build this MOC, please let me know your thought about the building process and your general impressions in the comments section. And here goes the MOC - a brave knight explores the forgotten ruins when suddenly he encounters an unexpected being... :)
  3. This is my entry to the "The Age of Men" catgory. I always wanted to build the white tree, and as it is a great metaphor for Gondor growing to old strength again, I have chossen this for the category. When Aragorn became king after the war, he planted a sapling of the white tree on the court of the fountain. The years gone by and as Aragorn's children were growing, the tree also rised up to the sky, to show that Gondor was wealthy and strong again. Thanks for hosting this great contest, I love everything from Middleearth. And good luck to the other contestants !

  5. The story about Markus Montari and Paul Brickstorm at SoNE continues. The story so far: Join the Empire - Markus1984 Recruitment - Disco86 Swearing In - Markus1984 Foreign System - Disco86 Last Firing Exercise - Markus1984 Invasion Preparation - Disco86 The Invasion Begins - Markus1984 Finally the day has come and our two protagonists are on their way to the foreign planets surface. A comerade told them, that the planet was actually Endor. A planet full of trees and little fury Ewoks. Their objectives have been not totally coherent, but at least they know, that they should wipe out the inhabitants down there. Presumably nobody would miss these Ewoks, so it was okay to kill them for an important imperial mission. The Delta-Class DX-9 tranport was landing ruggedly and there was a loud noise of cracking wood, when the hatchway openend. Go, go, go ! Shoot at everything you see movin ! Grrrrrr, where are these little Ewoks ? Over there in the shrubs, I got one. Die, you little ball of fur, die ! Seems to be not really dangerous here. Position clear ! Take a look over here. The Empire may have some serious plans with this planet. That's an enourmos construction site. Looks like they are going to build a huge landing pad. Indeed, just wondering what they are planning to do here ? We should move on and desolate this natural environment, just like these guys in the AT-ATs are doing. Stop talking, keep moving !

    [MOC] 79002 Better Tree

Loved the tree from 79002, with a bit of modding it can be made to look real nice and be pretty big without being overly part intensive

  8. Entry for Book II Challenge II Category B for deGothias side. The plague devastates Avalonia. Even the avalonian island Moria wasn't spared by the wave of illness. So Sir Moriartus called Mitgarda for medics, because of the good relations between him and some of the lords there. Aaron lost his wife and children in the last cruel war in Mitgardia and decided to study the old scriptures of medic. He wants to save other people from the dolor he got and save as much lives as possible. But the habitation of other people always reminds him of his dead family, so he lives solitary from the village on a small rock in the sea. In his small home he has everything he needs. Every day he paddle to the coast to heal people from the plague. The fight seems absurd, but Aaron tries his best to save the inhabitants of Moria. The free time Aaron has in his home, he spends on reading and rearing of swans. Explore all the details on MOCpages! I hope you like it and feel free to post your thoughts about this creation. :) Jonas
  9. “We have located a site that might be suitable for the generator,” they said, “but our sensors can’t get a very detailed view of it. Go check it out” So here I am, surfing over the forest of the green moon in my TIE Bomber. And not a tiny bit regretful to be away from battle for this one time. I still need time since… since Sullust. Being away from war, some nature, no killing to do… that will surely clear my mind. My computer says I’m approaching my target location. Not much to see here, except form those tightly packed trees that populate this planet like skyscrapers on Coruscant, making it nearly impossible to reach most places. But they say this particular position offers some kind of tactical advantage. Well, let’s find out. Let’s ready some seismic bombs to clear the area to get a closer look. Let’s pull the trigger, and bombs away… A strange feeling overwhelms me… pulling that trigger… Two loud explosions resonate through the forest. It shivers and trembles as if it’s frightenend. When the last dry creaks and dust settle into silence, the wound becomes apparent. Like the footprint of a giant, all forest has fled away from a gaping patch of destruction. Slowly and carefully I manoeuvre my craft to my newly created landing site. I shut down the engines, and all is silent. [soNE Ep. V] Uprooted by Bert.VR, on Flickr From down here, the destruction becomes even more apparent. Frightened ferns have flocked together, while a once mighty tree got uprooted. Respecting the victims of this unfair battle, I silently unload the analysing equipment. Now it’s just waiting for the long analysis to end. The humming of the machine seems almost disrespectful in this perfect si- Snap [soNE Ep. V] The human in me by Bert.VR, on Flickr A strange, furry creature is staring at me from between the bushes. I must be staring back. The creature begins walking towards me, muttering, accelerating, raising its spear. It comes running at me, suddenly silent, with a look of determination. I already have my blaster in my hands, and I’m ready to pull the… No… not again… I’m acting on instinct now, but somehow something in me – the human in me - is powerful enough to set the blaster to stun just in time. And I pull. The creature stops, and with a look of anger crashes down on the ground. I’m deeply impressed. This might have been my very first shot where I wasn’t the victim of. Instead of blindly shooting, I finally did what is right. Not what’s right according to the instructor of the academy, but what feels right. I’ve spared the life of an innocent creature that had nothing to do with this war. This is what it feels like to be a hero. Heroes must be the ones that know when not to pull the trigger. It seems that I’ve done something good in this horrible war. That uncertainty of the past couple of months… gone. I am a good person after all. I almost want to thank that creature for attacking me… But why would it attack me? Sure, it might have been confused after the blast. Perhaps I destroyed a part of its home. But whatever it was, at least no one died today. No collateral damage this time. Instead, I gently put the unconscious creature in a bed of ferns. A beep from the analysing equipment indicates that it is time for a second sample. With a renewed bounce in my step, I begin to pull it to the other side of the landing site. I stop when I discover a path between the plants. This must be where the creature came from. It goes straight into the forest, until it’s blocked by that tree, where… It can’t be… It may not be… What have I done… My legs give away, and for who knows how long, I just sit there, staring into the distance. [soNE Ep. V] No... not again by Bert.VR, on Flickr I have killed once more. Another creature couldn’t get away in time and was buried beneath a tree. Only its tiny legs remain. And it’s my fault. This time, I caused a fluffy tragedy. I have become as despicable as those who I always despised. Who was I to think I’m a good person after all. This time, it wasn’t even a foe. Not even a friend. The creature had nothing to do with this war we’re fighting. It never accepted the risk of getting killed for its cause. And yet it perished in this war. They call it collateral damage. As if it is not at all important and can just be ignored. This creature, these trees with all the invisible but beautiful life. Just collateral damage. How absurd. Everything that I’ve been telling myself in the past is simply invalid. Nothing is trivial in a war. And not a thing that you do isn’t your responsibility. That’s the thing about war. You start and fight with only your goal in mind. And then you even begin to forget that and only think war… war… war… You don’t see what happens. Well, you don’t see what really happens. You’re not clearing a landing site. You’re destroying age-old fauna and flora. You’re not stopping the enemy. You take the life of a living being. You’re not a hero. You’re a monster. War clouds your mind with brutality. War is blinding. I kept telling myself I could go on with this war, as long as it didn’t involve direct battle. But I was wrong. How can I participate in such an act of collective and destructive blindness, even with trivial acts? This small… small and everything but unimportant event… it uprooted my entire way of thinking about this war. Just like this tree, it was firm once. But one big blast threw it over, causing death and destruction… On the other hand, once the dust has cleared up, new light reaches the soil, and new beautiful things get a chance to grow. Once, I firmly believed in the good of this war, perhaps even without any good reason. I shot, I bombed for it. And my own acts, my own shots I fired, my own bombs I dropped, blew me away. Seeing all the damage I’ve done, all the sorrow I’ve dealt, I lost those roots. And nothing but a wreck remains. Immobile, without any purpose. But new lights starts sipping into my mind. What good is it to leave this war? It will still be as destructive. That’s no way to repay for all that I’ve done. I must end this war without one spill of blood. War will be the only victim of my further deeds. Only then will all of this get a meaning. But how? How can I end this war without damage for my friends and without damage for my foes? What’s good for one, is bad for the other. It’s impossible. I’m just a simple pilot, I have no power. But what about these inspired moments... when I refuse to kill a creature that’s attacking me. Maybe not all is lost after all. When the new tiny plants bath in fresh sunlight, maybe then I will be strong enough to do something. But now, those little plants are fragile… and the eclipse of war is still glooming. But through losing my roots, I think I’ve finally found firm ground. I’m not happy. Just determined. But still sad. The data of the analysing equipment indicate that this site isn’t fit for construction. Maybe it’s for the better: this place might find rest again. But then what was the meaning of all this? That’s the question I have to answer. I feel weak. [soNE Ep. V] Firm ground? by Bert.VR, on Flickr ___________________ You can find the LDD file here EDIT: instructions for the TIe Bomber can be found at Rebrickable, if anyone would be interested. The build consists of 2377 bricks. The TIE bomber (including pilot) has exaclty 1000! I hope you enjoy it. Comments are more then welcome.
  10. This is my Category C entry to Challenge 2. I've been meaning to do a large landscape with lots of tilted plates for a while now. Most of the larger plates are simply resting in place (though they're held there by the stuff around them), the smaller plates by the ruins are all actually attached. As soon as the scouts had reported to Glorfindel that a Black Spire army would be traveling through Skergat Pass, Glorfindel ordered his men to prepare for an ambush. The Mitgardian soldiers were soon concealed along the ridges on both sides of the ravine. Once the Black Spire army was well into the pass, Glorfindel signaled for the attack. Pouring down the sides of the ravine his men had both the advantages of surprise and the higher ground. Without figs: More pictures can be seen here: link C&C welcome
  11. This is my Category A entry for Team Simon. Credit for the tree design goes to Mark of Falworth. Sir Glorfindel had sent two of his scouts ahead to try and find how far the Black Spire had advanced into Avalonia and the best place for an attack. The scouts were walking through a forest when they heard some noise not far away, the two men quickly swung themselves into the branches of a nearby tree. They were barely out of sight when a Drow and Orc commander stepped into view. The two imposing figures then discussed their attack route on a nearby Avalonian city. The route they chose would take them right through a ravine perfect for an ambush. The scouts listened carefully then told Glorfindel of all they had learned. C&C welcome
  12. This MOC was built by my 12 year old brother. He's very happy with how this build turned out, there are full interiors in the buildings too. The dragon that Kendrick and Basil had heard about was ravaging the countryside. Targeting no specific kingdom his attacks were feared by all: More pictures can be seen here: http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=543185 He would appreciate any C&C
  13. I'd like to receive UoP credit for: trees [Landscape Design], flowing water [Hydrology], and river scene [Geography]= 3 credits Fossgard river is famous for its many waterfalls, the most prominent of which is simply called Fossgard Falls. Many bridges span the river, and Infernum and Glorfindel are now crossing on one of the smaller bridges... "What do you think we're up against?" Infernum asked Glorfindel. "No idea, but I imagine we'll find out within several days. The border isn't far now," Glorfindel replied. "And whatever it is, we'll make it wish it had never come into Mitgardia." This was my first time building a waterfall that splits, and I also tried a new tree technique. All C&C welcome
  14. Hello Radagast the brown? That guy with the bird poop in his face? -Exactly! ;) About one year ago Peter Jackson brought us the first Hobbit movie and i love it like the three Lord of the Ring movies. I'm especially a fan of the nice landscapes and great settings. Not at least they are phenomenal inspiration for MOCs i build and MOCs i will build. One of my favorite characters of the movie is of course Radagast. His outfit, doing and in particular his house are so strange and unique but that makes him so cool. My realization of this hut was build for the Bricking Bavaria 2013 in Munich and a i really liked the challenges this build gave me. And especially to solve them and find a solution. Like in the movie Rhosgobel is surrounded by trees, plants, a stream and several animals. The pictures couldn't catch every detail, but i hope you get a good view. ] For more and bigger pictures follow the links to flickr and MOCpages. Hope you enjoyed this little trip to middle Earth. Jonas
  15. This MOC was built by my 12 year old brother. Kendrick and Basil set off once again after a good nights rest at their camp. It wasn't long before they came across some weary knights refreshing themselves by a stream. The captain of the group hailed Kendrick and asked him if he had happened to see any signs of a dragon recently. Rather surprised, Kendrick answered that he had not, and asked if there was a dragon in the area. The captain grimly replied that a dragon had been burning buildings and fields and they were hunting it. My brother would appreciate any comments/criticism
  16. This MOC was built by my 12 year old brother. After Kendrick pulled Basil out of the river, he made a campfire for them to warm up (or in Basil's case, dry off) around: My brother would appreciate any comments, and especially suggestions for the build
  17. This was built by my 12 year old brother. As Basil was carried downstream by the current, Kendrick sprinted along the bank. Soon he saw a fallen tree trunk that lay across the river. Quickly climbing onto it, Kendrick reached as far as he could, straining to catch Basil as the goat swept towards him My apologies that Basil isn't clearly visible in the pictures, I forget to take a close up of him. He's just upstream of Kendrick and the fallen tree. My brother would appreciate all C&C

    [MOC] Lady of Lórien

Hello The MELO goes in the second Round. And here is my entry to the given quote: "Your quest runs on the edge of a knife, stray but a little, and it will fail." I took the opportunity to try my hands on a iconic Lothlorien treehouse with the typical elvish architecture. More pictures of the scene on MOCpages Jonas.
  20. Here is my phase II Stables build for AoM. This was a fun quick build that let me try building some more viking-esque buildings, and try a pine tree design that I haven't used before (credit for which goes to Blake Baer). The stables has a full interior and all the doors work. Great wolves are common in the clan lands of Mitgardia and some have been captured and tamed. Great wolves are smaller than a horse, but are quite strong and almost as fast. A wolf stable is quite similar to a normal horse stable: There are some more pictures here: link Any comments/criticism welcome, phase III will be coming before long

  22. Hello to everyone! This is my entry for the Winter Village Contest 2013. I imagined that the Christmas Market is in a park in the village and so I decided to create a tree with a small wooden house where the kids can play on the tree climbing, pulling snowballs, playing with rope swing. The vignette is complete with a traditional fountain carved into the wood of a tree, a small Christmas tree, a lamp post and Christmas lights. What better day to wish everyone a Merry Christmas! Thanks to all for comments
  23. Hello While watching 'the Hobbit' in the cinema i had it in mind to build this iconic scene. Check out all details on MOCpages Hope you like the scene. Feel free to comment. Jonas
  24. Hello The famous Castle Neuschwanstein by King Ludwig II. Next to the experiment of some new hairy trees and stairways, this is my second entry to the MocOlympics 2013. More pictures on flickr and MOCpages. (You can find my entry to the first MO round here. ) I hope you like it. Jonas
  25. When I saw the release pictures of this little christmas set I really needed to have it. It fits perfectly with the other christmas sets, and I just have a weakness for christmass trees. So, lets see how this free set holds up! This is my first review made, and english is not my native language so please bear with me! Theme: Seasonal Holiday Set name: Christmas Tree Stand Set Number: 40082 Price: $9,99 / Free Pieces: 115 Minifigures: 2 Year of release: 2013 The Box: The box has a really nice design, featering a nice scene where the lady buys a christmas tree. A big red stamp display that this is a 2013 exclusive set, which makes it that much better. The back features the 2 limited edition sets from this year, the christmas tree stand and the car. They both fit together perfectly and make for a nice play set on its own. The sides of the box are very standard, the bottom shows again the red stamp and the top displays the salesman with a broom at actual size. Nothing special here! Inside the box: Inside the box we find 3 seperate bags. Can't wait too open them! The instructions are very clear and simple to follow, with a nice part call-out on every step and a relaxing blue background. Inside the bags: The first bag, with a brand new purple hat! I think its really pretty and fits the winter style perfectly. Also some lego money, which I cant get enough off. The second bag, nothing special here. The third bag, with some lovely christmas trees and dark red tiles. And all of the parts in one big collection! Minifigs Here are the 2 lovely minifigures, and the lady of course with her brand new purple hat. I also really like the scarf of her. And now, the actual build. We start off with this small tool rack, I think it would have been fine without the bricks under it, but this works great too. The next thing we build is -of course- the stand where the shopkeeper sells his trees from. I really love the design, although I think the bright red tiles on the roof are a bit too vibrant, but I love the little lights under it and the decoration. Its also really small, only 4 studs wide. And to finish it all off, the railings are attached to both sides of the building so the shopkeeper can fence of his christmas trees! There is also some lovely decoration placed on it. Finished! And there we have it, our end result after we have placed the christmas trees inside the fence. Woo! I really love the look of it, its small yet has a lot of playability. And with a few other christmas sets combined. It fits perfectly with the other sets! Don't really pay attention to the lay out, I set it quickly up for the picture. Final comments: This is my first review I've made, so I would love to have some feedback! English is not my native language so writing lots of text is hard for me, and there might be lots of errors in the review. Sorry for that! Design & Colour scheme – 9/10 (I really love the design, and the colours just fit perfectly with the christmas theme and all the other sets.) Minifig – 8/10 (Just your basic minifigs, but I really love the purple hat so a little higher) Parts – 8/10 (I love getting the christmas trees, and ofcourse the purple hat, apart from that there is not a lot going on.) Playability – 8/10 (I love that it has a lot of playability for such a small set, so thats really cool.) Build – 7/10 (Really simple, so nothing special.) Price – 10/10 (Its free! I would almost like it to give it a higher point for this) Overall: 8.3, Really good!
