  1. Finnaly found some time and inpsiration to build a proper alternate for this amazing set - Front loader. Functions: HOG steering - whole front section pivots Pendular rear axle Working 2 cylinder inline engine at the back Fully operating front boom - uses ratched mechanism to keep the desired height Angle of the shovel can be changed Opening doors As there are no access to worm gear or linear actuators, the lifting capacity is limited, but still it's possible to lift some lighter cargo. Rear axle can move freely without any suspension, therfore it's easy to overcome smaller obstacles. Whole front section is steering and is connected via the small turntable to the rest of the superstructure that enables easy and smooth steering using gear on top of the front loader. Just like with other alternates, it's possible to buy the instructions on REBRICKABLE. Cheers, TGBDZ
  2. When I first saw the 42139 set, I knew I had to get one. From the functionality aspect, the set for the relatively small price tag has a lot to offer, and it's an amazing parts donor as well. But I believe that I wasn't the only one that thought the 6 wheel ATV is quite an unconventional vehicle and it would look rather cool to see this as a more common 4x4 quadbike. So I made an alternate / mod that turns this into more classic looking quad. The front and middle part of the build remains almost unchanged (switched 7 long beams from white to orange to make better looking rear mudguards), also there is an extra part at the front to secure the winch hook. Almost no changes means that the functionality remains the same: winch steering Suspension 2 speed gearbox Working cylinders The cargo box on the back is fixed, so the dumping bed mechanism has been removed. To compensate for this there is a place to attach a trailer. Leftover parts are a great source material for the trailer itself, sadly no pins were left to make a proper trailer to complement the quad bike. Oh, and the best part is that it's still possible to assemble the chainsaw If anyone is interested. building instructions are available at REBRICKABLE Cheers!
  3. Hi! Finaly got my hands on a new set that I could use for making new alternates - 42123 Mclaren - it's a really great set, but when it came to deciding what to make, it turned out to be a lot harder then I expected. Almost no gears and functioning elements means that the look is the main point for being a successful alternate. I usually make my alternates with the all stickers, and this one was not an exception so taking that into acount it was logical to make something related to racing, but I didn't want to stick with just a random racecar, I wanted for it to be something a bit more special. Thanks @marceriusLV (my brother) for giving me the idea that I could use less than 4 wheels for a racing car, and we all know that the most popular three wheeler is Morgan. MORGAN 3 wheeler concept Functions: Steering - controlled by the steering wheel V4 - moving pistons driven by the rear wheel As with previous alternates - the instructions are available at Rebrickable Cheers! UPDATE. Decided to put all the alternates under one topic so here is an update. BAJA Racing truck After making a true three wheeler I decided to stick with 4 wheels, seeing that there are several truly great racing cars/formulas already made I thought of making something a bit more offroad. Initial inspriation was from the legendary Dakar rally car - Schlesser buggy. As usual while making alternates not all things went as planned and in the end I got something more similar to BAJA racing truck, rather then a proper Dakar rally car. Nevertheless I really like the end result. Functions: HOG steering Pendular front axle (similar to the 42122 Jeep set) Rear axle suspension using flex axle Mid mounted V8 working engine, driven by the rear wheel. As usual I try to make 3 builds form one set, and this time was no exception. Sea Sparrow For the 3rd model I decided to not use the wheels at all, so there are basically 2 options - something that floats or flies, I chose the flying option. At first I wanted to make a propeller plane but after 20 minutes of struggle It was clear to me that the plane is not the way to go. Helicopter on the other hand, was comming together super fast and after three evenings I already had a finished alternate (usually it takes much longer for me to make a properly working model). I Didn't want to stick with traditional Lego helicopter functions - working rotors that are linked together, so I managed to add a third function as well. Functions: Working main rotor linked with the rear rotor V4 engine connected to rotors (I know that helicopters have different motors :D ) Safety clucthes on both rotors that allow the blades to slip Working V4 engine is hidden behind the panels As always, instructions for my alternates can be found on my REBRICKABLE page. (DECEMBER 2022) Version 2 has gone live (Sorry for the delay), new function video can be seen on Brickvault YT channel (Click HERE) List of changes: - Upgraded landing gear - no more tilting to the backside with Phantom II docked - Reinforced main engines - additional support to prevent the main engines from disconnecting from the fusselage - Corrected color scheme to better match one in the Rebels TV show - Reduced greebles and added slight discoluration to match better with the one in the Rebels TV show - Changed docking port design - Reinforced front mandibles using new SNOT bricks from Super Mario series - Changed engine thruster color from Transparent Light Blue to Transparent Neon Orange (Transparent Yellow color is reserved for frontal lights) - Added limiters to pilot canopy piece, to ensure that it won't close too far. (Closing the canopy fully ensured incorrect placement of the frontal roof piece) - Reworked common room layout now includes corner sofa and a smaller kitchen area - Reworked Phantom I* - Reworked Phantom II** * Not minifigure compatible ** Both Phantom older versions are still usable Everyone who has purchased the original instructions should receive the new ones for free. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- After 3 years of work and 2 different iterrations I can proudly present one of my favorite SW ships - GHOST Part count - Approx. 4100 (excluding phantom) Length - 62 studs (50 cm) Width - 50 studs (40 cm) Height - 26 studs (20,5 cm) It's not a minifig scale model, but rather a playscale one - it is designed to fit the minifigures, but when corresponding to proper scale model the inner rooms are smaller and I had some artistic freedom making them to my likings and configuration. GHOST suffers from being heavy to the rear end, to prevent the model from tipping the chasis/landing gear is slightly angled forward and therfore model can stand on it's own without any additional support at the back. GHOST features modular removable sections - Phantom docking bay, top floor with the gunner position and roof sections in the front and the back. All of the removed sections reveal an interrior space that can be used by minifigures. And yes, this model is made IRL as well. It was one of those rare times that I made model with real bricks first and only then it made in digital form. Compared to the UCS Star destroyer 75252, GHOST looks rather small, but to be honest a lot of MOC's look rather small next to that thing! More photos/renders of interrior and Phantom will be added soon. Also, the instructions are being worked on right now. Update (17.08.20) Renders for the Phantom and how it fits with the ship. Also. description and top view of the accessible interrior. Main floor Top Floor Rooms as following: 1. Front gunner seat, accessible by lowering ladder 2. Pilot position, accessible from the communication room 3. Communication room and droid repair station 4. Main hallway, connects main ramp, living quarters, communication room, both airlocks* and the backside of the ship 5. Living quarters - has 3 beds, table and some basic furniture to accomodate basic minifgure needs 6. Cargo elevator. Can be used to access the lower cargo hold** 7. Right airlock 8. Left airlock and doorway to common room 9. Access to upper level, main gunner seat and Phantom docking bay 10. Armory and gunsmith 11. Dejarik and dining table 12. Kitchen area 13. Bathroom 14. Engine room, houses 2 hyperdive units and signal jammer 15. Main gunner position*** 16. Access hatch for the docking bay 17. Phantom Docking bay *Airlocks cannot be opened due to the structure of the build, they are keeping all the side connections together and play major role to make GHOST swooshable. ** Lower cargo hold access is limited, therfore it's hard tu use it for "playing" porpuses. It's possible to put some cargo and boxes while still building this MOC. Cargo will be seen through the large 8x8 grill pieces. *** Main gun on the top of the ship is fixed and can be reattached at 90 degree increments. I tried to make it freely rotateble but at this scale I didn't want to sacrifce looks for this small function.   5. Hi there! At the start of January picked up the 42108 set (Actually wasn't planning on spending money on more Lego at the start of the year but saw a surprisingly cheap deal for a new set and just couldn't resist it). Naturally, opened the box, went through the instructions and applied all the stickers to their belonging parts and started to work on new alternates without assembling the original set (Yes, I'm a mad lad :D ) And who would have guessed.. my first alternate was another excavator.. I hope that people don't get exausted of seeing another one but this set turned out to be a great part pack for creating a sleek and fully functional wheeled excavator! Functions: Working steering - blue gear on the back Adjustable front shovel - manually, can be locked in place Adjustable rear outriggers - mannualy, can be locked in place Rotating upperstructure - Black knob at the rear of the chassis Fully functional arm - controlled by 2 seperate knobs on the top of the upperstructure Chasis storn enough and with the outriggers and shovel extended it can support the whole weight of the excavator and lift it from the ground. At this moment this is the second set that uses the new Large linear actuator, and it just makes reach on this medium sized excavator crazy good If You want to build it Yourself - Instructions available here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-38023/tgbdz/42108-alternate-wheeled-excavator/?inventory=1#bi (Or simply look for TGBDZ on rebrickable) For the next build I wanted to make something different that I haven't tried before.. After Some tinkering with the parts a bit I started to build a rather large structure using the larg 3x11 curved panel pieces and after creating a large bathub like structure I decided to make an articulated hauler. I had atleast 6 wheels, for the center joint I could use the turntable, large actuator should cover the lifting of the cargo bed - all the major issues were solved quickly and here is the result. Functions: Working steering - no HOG - the center of the cab is so close to the swiveling point that it's easy to steer by pushing on the cab sides Fully adjustable chasis/suspension - front axle is solid and together with cabin is rotating on the turntable located in the center of the chasis - rear axles use double wheel boogies that easily gets over small obstacles Functional and tipping cargo bed - uses large actuator and is operated by knobs on either side Cargo bed can be locked at the back to prevent unecessary spillage of goods And just like for the excavator - I think the original 42108 stickers add a lot of nice touches to the design. Instructions for the Hauler will be available soon. What should I build next? At the moment I'm thinking of making two models at the same time - 42108 has 8 aviable wheels.. Will see :) Cheers!
  6. Long time no see! Some of You maybe remember my love for excavators and alternate models - 5 years ago I participated in the TC5 challange for alternate builds with an excavator and thanks to Your support I won the competition. Recently decided to challange myself again with the same task of creating an alternate model of the excavator using a middle sized set. 42094 was a no brainer as the best choice - tracks, turntable, some gears, mini actuator - most of the major components necessary for a successful build. The biggest problem was the lack of the wormgear - it would increase control and strength of the extended arm. Nevertheless, I found a solution, and in the end I'm pleasntly surprised how the MOC turned out. Functions: Working tracks (duhh) no suspension, no boogeys, more stable that way Upper structure rotates, sadly didn't manage to attach a knob, so it's done by grabbing the upper part Working boom similar to my previous build Possible to change the height of the whole boom Bucket and the second section of the arm works together - If You reach further, bucket opens, and vice versa - if the arm is getting closer the bucket closes Arm and boom function is operated by a black knob made from small sprocket pieces, to gain easier access, the rear can be opened. Both of the functions can be switched using a LBG connector that switches the clutch piece. So guys, what do You think? Also, what other alternates You would like to see made from this set?   7. Hello there! Recently I was browsing through some old pictures and I stumbled upon this beauty - beach buggy - built for the Lego Technic take the Challange contest. It was built in 2011 Features: All wheel independent suspension Doors can open Super fake steering wheel and V4 engine (none of them works :D ) Working steering Detailed interrior I still remember how I was building it.. it's definitely a blast from the past.. And yeah, it's a shame that TLG discontinued the "Take the challenge" contest.. Good day everyone! TGBDZ
