    [MOC] Imperial Landing Craft

Hi guys! Today I have my latest LDD work, an imperial landing craft. When I first started using LDD, I tried my hand at modding a 7659, which I never completely finished. In light of this, about 2 months ago I started a new version of the landing craft. This time around, I decided to make sure it wasn't just a 7649 with a better interior. I started off using a 7649 as a base, but it quickly developed into it's own thing. Here's a quick change log of what I did. New Cockpit Removed the turning mechanism (kinda) Redesigned Interior Lengthened troop bay New wings (all 3) Many cosmetic changes You can find all of the pictures on my Flickr, or the album here. You can download the LFX file on my Brickshelf, or here. Without any further ado, here are the pictures! Enjoy! Imperial Landing Craft by GuyDudeMan27, on Flickr I've kept the landing gear from the original model, mainly because of the troop bay. (We'll see that soon) Landing Craft Back by GuyDudeMan27, on Flickr From the back, you can see the new engines. Also note the lack of the gear mechanism. I've kept the interior gears, which should still work, but you'd need to manually turn the gear on the bottom. That decision caused me great pain when getting the wings in position for the renders Landing Craft Interior by GuyDudeMan27, on Flickr Finally, we have the troop bay! I designed it so that it can hold 14 stormtroopers (or rebel scum ) and one officer at his console. The sides flip down for easy deployment. I kept in the original mechanism for deploying the troop bay, but changed the color of the piece from red to white. (I've checked and all the parts are available) It also holds guns for all of the troopers. This pretty much wraps up the model. Any C&C are very welcome!
  3. Just done a time lapse on this set. Almost 16hrs has spent to make this Time lapse on Ewok Village. It's feeling great to watch it after the compilation after a few sleepness night.. :S Hope everyone will like it and enjoy (especially for Star Wars fans) *The making of Lego 10236 Ewok Village, in time-lapse. 1990 pieces of Lego bricks 1990 images 17 Lego minifigs 16 hours of build time 3.51 mins of Time lapse video 1 Lego Ewok Village set* Feel free to comment. :)

  5. Apologies to Nuukeer whose artwork I have mutilated for the background. Thirteen years ago, The LEGO Group amazed everyone by releasing a Star Wars set that was clearly aimed solely at adults. 7191 X-Wing Fighter was a large-scale, accurate representation of the iconic X-Wing, and introduced to the unsuspecting world the concept of Ultimate Collector Series models - large, complicated builds, with interesting techniques and (often) parts, all with oodles of AFOL appeal. The original 7191 - with its sister 7181 Tie Interceptor - might have been seen as an experiment; years have passed, and the UCS title has (officially) disappeared, but it appears the experiment was a success and the concept lives on. Since then, we've seen most of the more famous SW vehicles released in UCS format, but it has been a long time since an X-Wing has been available at this scale without resorting to extortionate aftermarket prices. If you missed the first one, you need fret no longer: there's a new, updated version. I'm therefore proud to present a Eurobricks early review of 10240 Red Five X-Wing Starfighter. Obviously we are keen to see how the new set shapes up, but I'll also concentrate on how she compares to her thirteen-year-old ancestor: to see if owners of the original 7191 might be tempted to shell out for the new version. In honour of this occasion, I've made a new, detailed review of the older one: read 7191 UCS X-Wing Fighter here. 7191 was a great set, but it had a few flaws. The principal ones are these: the wing attachments were weak, and there were a large numbers of STickers Across Multiple Pieces (STAMPs). Let's see how the new one deal with these issues, and also if newly-available parts have improved the overall shape. A huge thank you once again to The LEGO Group for providing this set for early review! Peeron The Box Click the picture for a larger full-frontal image The 2013 Star Wars box art has a smart, attractive green tinge to the banner, matching action-Yoda's lightsaber. Recent years have seen a uniform banner for all Star WarsTM merchandise - LEGO or otherwise; it doesn't necessarily match the model in question. Action-Yoda appears only in the prequel episodes II and III; the X-Wing is very much an Original Trilogy set. Moreover, Luke's Red Five X-Wing doesn't go anywhere near the Death Star II pictured in the background; as I recall, we don't see her after Bespin in The Empire Strikes back. Questionable canon aside, I like the picture: the ship stands out nicely against the dramatic backdrop. The size of the banner (or perhaps of the box) has, however, necessitated the loss of the lower starboard laser to box oblivion. A small inset - also picked out tastefully in green - gives us an idea of the final size of the model. Around the back, we are treated to the X-Wing in display mode, replete with stand and diminutinve R2-D2, on what might possibly be a Bespin landing platform. Click the picture for a larger image Insets show the ship in her most famous role - dodging laser fire in the Death Star trench - and remind us how Luke's Red Five was responsible for the DS's destruction via physics-defying torpedoes. Further insets demonstrate the opening cockpit and wings, and small images show the ship in 'flight mode', with wings closed. The overall effect is neat but a little fussy: I'm not keen on the step between the main image border and the 'torpedo' inset, which exists only to accommodate the set number. Both sides are identical, with the exception of the 'LEGO Club' logo on the right-hand side; I wonder how necessary this is on an adult-orientated set, but I guess AFOLs have a reasonable chance of having KFOL kids! You may be pleased to see that the box opens via flaps, with no box-destruction required, and allowing easy storage for a highly collectable set. Scale is provided on the box top by the image of '1:1' R2-D2, but as he is rather lost in the model itself, the X-Wing's size information is repeated here: The bottom teaches us to say 'Small Parts' in innumerable languages, which I suppose might be useful. I was a little surprised by how big the box isn't: Measuring W 578 mm x H 371 mm x D 82 mm, it's roughly the same width as 7191, but some six centimetres shorter and only a centimetre deeper; she feels much smaller, if that makes any sense. The weight is similar: 2255 grammes compared to 7191's 2204, and there are 250 more pieces. Presumably this represents TLG's move to more environmentally-friendly packaging; we'll have to see if the larger part count translates to an 'improved' model. The Instructions You'll be pleased to see that the instructions and stickers are wrapped separately, and cardboard-backed. Three booklets are contained therein: All have the same cover image; book 3's cover is noticeably lower quality. Advertisements for the LEGO Club and the LEGO Star Wars site adorn the rear of two of them; I'll give you one guess what's on the back of the third. The dimensions of the booklet allow for a slightly larger picture of the X-Wing than the box front affords: We therefore haven't lost quite so much of the lower starboard laser. Inside, we are treated to a whole two pages showing the modular construction; the first is shown here: Here we get a little sneak preview of how the wing-opening mechanism will be achieved. I was surprised to see that the stand is built in module 6, rather than at the end as in most UCS sets. The rather bland grey-brown background persists throughout all the instruction steps: Part call-outs and sub-builds are demonstrated clearly; a quick glance suggest there won't be any issues with colour-differentiation; but when I came to build, I did encouter a little difficulty distinguishing between dark tan and light bluish-grey in artificial light. I quickly spotted the error. Insets depicting the set's principal features are repeated from the box back at the end of manual three: Click the picture for a larger image Owners of 7191 will recognise the design of the rear-end knob which opens the wings. Immediately before this is found the set's inventory, spread over three pages; see them here: Page 1, Page 2, and Page 3. The inside rear cover of manual one advertises the extensive Summer 2013 Star Wars range: I was a little disappointed to find out that we've seen all these already. I'm no Clone Wars fan, but I love that Mando Speeder. DSS There are two separate sticker sheets; the smaller sports the complex decals for the cockpit: I was fortunate to receive two of these, so I have a backup for when I screw it up. On the larger sheet are found the display plaque decal, and some detail for the wings, complete with 'battle scars', in addition to a few smaller features. Click the picture for a larger image with correct orientation It is far less complicated than the rather daunting sheet from 7191, though I'm a little disappointed to see that - it seems - the control panel and targeting computer will be stickered. 6. Hello. I'm looking for sets 7662 (Trade federation MTT) and 7676 (republic attack gunship from clone wars) for somewhat acceptable price. I'm looking towards new complete sets. If there is no box but the bags are still sealed and all parts including stickers, minifigs and extras are there - I'm considering set as new. Please contact me via pm if you want to sell some of them or if you can help me.

  8. I got set 75082 mainly for the Inquisitor and the Imperial Officer minifigs, but I decided to give the build a go today since I heard a lot of positive comments on it. I have to say that the build includes good ideas for the TIE fuselage that are definitive improvements to how other system scale TIEs have been built in the past. Once finished, I went in and modified the build quite a bit to get it closer to the proportions of the craft as seen in the show. This meant I had to get rid of the shooter play feature in order to remove a one plate wide section from the lower part of the fuselage. I also made sure the circular cockpit screen is centered and that the lower half of the fuselage mirrors the angled bricks of the top half. I also got rid of most dark bley bricks and replaced them with their light grey counterparts. Lastly, I made the four characteristic panels one stud higher and removed a one plate wide area from the center build that attaches the panels to the fuselage. I also built a stand for the model in the form of a mini-diorama that depicts the scene from the Rebels episode Empire Day in which the TIE Advanced Prototype was first presented as the climax of an imperial parade: Enjoy!

    [MOC] Imperial RTT

Hey guys! I'm GuyDudeMan27. I've been around on this forum for a while, and I am happy to present my latest MOC, the Imperial RTT, or Reconnaissance-Troop-Transport. There are some difference between my design and the source material, but I'm happy with the final product. I hope you enjoy! Also, if anyone wants the LDD file, I will attach it. Feel free to make changes and add them here so I can see them!RTT (imp).lxf I based most of my design off of this image. The Kenner toy of this looks a bit different, but this is the more realistic look, in my opinion.

    [MOC] Small Merchant Ship

I decided to start out my first MOC as a small one. So I basically made up what I think a version of a small merchant ship would like like, maybe going to or from Coruscant. So here we are. Mer2 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Mer8 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Here's a look at some crew or friends of the merchant carrying some cargo. Mer4 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Some of the cargo capacity. Mer7 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Interior. Very basic controls and a seat. Can fit 1 crew member, and a bit of cargo inside the cockpit. Mer1 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr A look at it's simple, but effective engine. Mer5 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr An overview of the ship. (Sorry for the low quality picture, there). Mer9 by BrickJamesWells, on Flickr Lastly, a final frontal view of the ship. Thanks for looking! Please comment and criticize so I can improve next time, or if I can see if you liked it or not.

  15. Hey, my first review here... not sure if it's ok and if I actually CAN post a review here yet but if not - please moderate this :] So: Set Name: TIE Advanced Prototype Set #: 75082 Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 355 Minifigures: 3 Year of Release: 2015 MSRP: USD $39.99 I bought this set in a polish SMYK store yesterday (so a bit earlier than it was supposed to be out). I overpayed for it quite a lot but then again that's what "impulse-purchase" is all about :) Box/Instructions The box itself is quite nice. Not too big, not too small. Instructions are easy to read and pretty standard. There's a small sticker sheet as well, consisting of 6 small stickers. Parts There are 355 parts in this set. They're all pretty standard ranging from light-gray to dark-gray and black. Some red transparent bricks are also present. I think this set has a new part -> (sorry for being an ignorant) an L-shaped light-gray brick with no studs. You can see it on the stock pictures on "top" of the wings (I think it's called a "tile" ;] ). Other than that - the printed domes are also interesting pieces. Minifigures The figs are basically what should draw you to this set. The Inquisitor is AMAZING. It has a new helmet, shoulder-pads and a lightsaber. This fig is pure awesome. It's definitely a must for all the SW minifig collectors out there. You also get a TIE Pilot (I think it's a new fig as well - different helmet from the last TIE Fighter Pilot we had) and an Imperial Officer (which also has "new" tag on the box meaning it's an exclusive!. Pure Empire gold! The build The build is devided to 3 stages. Bag 1 - Cockpit. Bag 2 - "Wing-holders". Bag 3 - Wings. The build is rather fast and a bit repetetive as the wing-holders are basically a mirrored versions of each other and the wings are a build of x4 of the same thing. The completed model The model looks rather good. It has a flicker-cannons (?). You can open the glass dome and the top dome so you can put a minifig inside. The only issue I have with this model is the size of it comparing it to the last TIE Fighter. But then again when I look at -> <- it MIGHT actually be the right size. EDIT: One thing that you might find a bit annoying are the wings. They are NOT attached like in the old Vader's TIE meaning they don't have certain "steps" of possible arrangement if you know what I mean. Here you can fold the wings to whatever position you want (well.. "inside" at least). This means that if you open up the wings and put in on a table or whatever flat surface, they MIGHT fold back in a bit which will make the model fall. It's not really something that will make this model a NO, but still it's tad annoying. Overall opinion The model is nothing extraordinary. It's a standard TIE set and it will look good with the other TIEs in your collection. The minifigs tho, are a MUST! Minifigures: 10/10 Parts: 6/10 Build: 5/10 Price: 8/10 - I'll just say I found this set on an auction for 200 PLN (about 46 euros) and for that - it IS a pretty good price. Like I said, I did overpay for it at the local toy store. Design: 8/10 Playability: 9/10 Overall: 46/60 = 77%
  16. AYB 10, is the Hal Datta clan's classification of ugly made up of two B-Wing airfoils attached to a Y-wing cockpit by a TIE frame, and powered by a dangerously overclocked A-wing fusion reactor. The reactor feeds two relatively underpowered ion engines, upgraded from stock TIE fighter engines. The majority of the power goes to exciting the tibanna gas held in the tip-tanks, which consequently lets out an incredibly powerful blaster bolt that can penetrate every grade of armor up to that found on AT-ATs. In addition to that, it has twin proton torpedo launchers in the nose, and two high-intensity rapid lasers in the wingtips. The AYB 10s are only sent into battle when accompanied by either airspeeders or YB-3030s, depending on whether or not the battle is in-atmosphere. This particular AYB 10 belongs to a skilled Duro pilot by the name of Gleska, meaning "free-spirited sky". She lives up to that name by being the top AYB pilot in the entire Hal Datta fleet. I recently decided to rebuild and did a few tweaks on the cockpit ball where I utilized the new TIE canopy and windscreen elements. 20. See the rest of the story: Season 1 Season 2 Junker's Fee Welcome to Fondor Fondor City Nightlife Many Bothans Died... Well At Least One Fixing to Clear the Mind Thermal Detonator Pot-Pie After I passed the diner it was a short walk to the recruitment office. I told the desk clerk that I wanted to sign up as a Stormtrooper. The clerk took my name and handed me a clip board. After I had finished filling out the 18 pages of questions I handed it back to the clerk who ushered me into a back waiting area. I sat down in the drab room and kept telling myself that I was doing the right thing. Every time I had tried to be a force for good on my own I had ended up hurting people. Yeoman lost his leg. My brother lost his life. And what about all the innocent stormtroopers I had killed along the way? When would the violence end? As I stewed in my thoughts an officer and a stormtrooper entered the waiting area. “Josh, is it?” asked the officer. “I’m Commander Relve and I’ll be overseeing your trial.” I looked at him for a moment sure that I had just misunderstood him. “We’ve been trying to track you down since that incident on Cloud City. How nice of you to just walk into our offices and turn yourself in. Once the clerk entered your name in the system I was altered to your presence. I’m glad you stuck around long enough for me to personally capture you.” I knew that I was trapped. What a fool I had been! I looked toward the door but saw that it was sealed. “Alright, you have me. Now what are you going to do with me?” I asked. “As I said, I will be in charge of your trial. Immediately after will be your execution” Commander Relve responded. “A wonderful justice system you have here” I answered. “Oh yes,” he continued, “we make sure that all those who break Imperial law face the swiftest of justice.” With that he waved his hand and the trooper took me around the corner and motioned me up the ladder to the 2nd floor. I climbed hoping to be able to make a break for it when I got to the landing but I immediately found another trooper waiting for me. He motioned me into my cell and sealed the door behind me. The cell had to be one of the smallest the Empire had on Fondor. I could barely turn around in it. I sat on my bed and started to rethink through my choice. As I mused I felt something in my pocket. I felt around and pulled out a yellow focusing crystal. I stared at it and started to remember a story from my past… In The Past Growing up in Corellia I used to play with a kid named Zack. His father was a farmer who worked hard just to put food on their table. We were sitting in a tree watching his father work on their meiloorun patch. As we had since my father gave it to me, we were debating the origins of my focusing crystal. “I tell you!” Zack exclaimed. “It’s got to be from a lightsaber!” “Don’t you know that the Jedi have been extinct for years?” I responded. “That’s just what the Empire says” Zack answered. “My dad tells me that there are some still some out there, protecting the weak and defending justice!” “It’s far more likely that it’s from a mining laser” was my reply. “There are many mining companies on Corellia.” We continued to debate my crystals origins when two stormtroopers stopped Zack’s dad. They talked to him for a short while before motioning him away from the farm and down the road. We jumped down and ran towards the troopers. “Wait!” shouted Zack. “Where are you taking my dad!?” “Is this the son?” the trooper asked into his helmet. After getting an answer he said, “Alright, you’re going to have to come with us.” “Why?” I asked. “What has Zack done?” “His father has been convicted of treason against the Empire” the trooper answered. “And because of his father’s treason, his son is under arrest also.” “Zack’s family are just simple farmers!” I said. “They haven’t done anything worth arresting them over! Let them go!” “I can’t go against my orders” the trooper replied. “I have to follow what my commanding officer tells me to do.” “But what has Zack done?” I pleaded. “He hasn’t done anything against you! Let him go!” The trooper thought for a moment. He looked at his sergeant taking Zack’s father away and then looked back at us boys. “Alright,” he said. “I can’t do anything for your friend’s dad. But I won’t mention in my report that we found his son. If you can, help him get off this planet. That’s all I can do.” With that he turned and walked away. Zack turned and started crying, knowing he would probably never see his dad again. All I could do was let him know I was there. I had little else I could comfort him with. The Present All those memories came rushing back to me as I looked at the crystal. I put it back in my pocket and thought about my dilemma. Obviously the first thing I needed to do was get out of here. But almost as obvious was that I was mistaken when I thought I needed to sign up with the Empire to do good. Maybe there were some good men behind the Stormtrooper masks. But they weren’t under their own authority. They had to obey orders. If I wanted to stand for justice, then I couldn’t be shackled by the evil that existed in the Empire. But I also didn’t want to kill people needlessly. This was something I was going to have to think about more. OoC: For all of you who were hoping that I was switching to the Empire, I'm sorry to disappoint you but I'm a Rebel through and through! I never meant for people to think I was switching sides, but I'm afraid my character's story twist combined with my awesome new title caused much confusion. However, I'm never one to shy away from using confusion to my advantage A couple more pictures: Lots more can be seen on my flickr.
  21. Lord Tyrus had been assigned a medium priority mission from Officer Brickdoctor along with fellow ISB officer Goatm An and Imperial pilot ace, BEAVeR, to investigate reports of Rebel activity, originating from the ice-ball world of Barab II. They had been assigned a Valor-Pattern Assault Gunboat, an experimental craft combining the air-to-ground supremacy of the LAAT gunships along with the durability of the STC003 Starcrashers and the transport ability of Lambda Class Shuttles, in order to transport the squad of Stormtroopers that was accompanying them. "We're coming in too fast! Officer VeR, what are you doing! Officer Brickdoctor said you were the best type of pilot that could be assigned to this mission." Lord Tyrus exclaimed. "Relax, I've worked with BEAVeR before, Tyrus. He's a great pilot," Goatm said, "Although maybe not the best type for a soldier," he muttered. His previous missions with BEAVeR had made it evident to him that he was unable to take a life, thus making him a poor candidate for a high-ranking Imperial pilot. He even felt sympathetic feelings towards the Rebels that he would be willing to testify against him if he was to fail him on this mission. He could sense that he was gaining the attention of the very important and influential people in the Emperor's fleet. He didn't want anyone messing up his almost certain promotion, especially this disloyal pilot. He was good at everything in his job, except the essential power to shoot someone. Simple as that. "It's not my fault! We've been hit!" BEAVeR replied. The thick, white clouds of Barab II's atmosphere wizzed by revealing a clean white blanket that was Barab II's surface. However, they were approaching at too steep an angle. Suddenly they were pulled into a tight spiral with the center a small spire poking through the surface. " Hold on, although I don't think the crash would be too bad, we've flown past the mountain, worry over, snow's fairly soft compared with rock." "Well done Sherlock..." A Stormtrooper muttered. "Silence!" Goatm yelled, "You don't want to see me when I'm angry!" Lord Tyrus turned off the live feed from the troop bay. Thud. Screech. Bang. Silence. The cockpit's viewscreen went blank. "Rear hatch it is then," Said Tyrus. As the crew in the front; Tyrus, Goatm, the Stormtrooper sergeant and VeR, opened the door to the troop bay. They were in for a shock. Only two of the nine Stormtroopers in the troop bay were still alive, one of them unconscious. The remainder were smashed up a bit. The crates and boxes had dislodged in the troop bay by the shot and were smashed into the the troops. The straps that held them into their seats were unable to be opened until the craft had landed, for safety. However, this proved a major downfall as the troopers were unable to escape as they were crushed by crates weighing nearly a ton. This was feedback that Goatm could file back to the design team. Lord Tyrus and BEAVeR helped the two remaining troops out and quickly looked away. Following that, Tyrus grabbed a rope, opened the rear hatch and, dropping the reel of rope, clambered down, closely followed by the other five. Tyrus got out his Macrobinoculars and surveyed the area. There was a spire, near to where they had been brought down. There were mountains in the distance with buildings on top in the same style as the spire He thought he could see figures on the horizon. Suddenly they were greeted as a wave of blaster bolts hit them. "Take cover!" Yelled Goatm, activating a distress beacon from his pocket, "Head to that gorge!" But they didn't know what was in for them... Oh I forgot, can I have this judged please!
  22. This is what broke my builder's block last month. Then I looked at the rules again and it wasn't eligible because it wasn't from the movies of The Clone Wars. However, I'm still quite happy with this MOC, I'm most proud of the fact that the wings actually open! Flickr Set Facebook January 2013

My newest MOC. Also published in https://ideas.lego.com/projects/90668 so please vote so it might reach 10000 votes and gain the possibility of becoming a real official LEGO set. Many thanks! Cheers
  24. The Oordelay, a race in favor of Imperial rule, has had Aethersprite light fighters in service since the dawn of the Empire. Their use has dwindled, and as of the destruction of the second Death Star, only 23 remain in service with the Oordelay royal guard. Impressed by Plo Koon's custom fighter, the Oordali ministry of defense ordered many of these ships during the clone wars to supplement their navy and air force. The Aethersprites are the only non-Oordali designed or produced ships in their fleet. Unlike the "jedi starfighter" used in the clone wars, this later-model Aethersprite is hyperspace-capable, as is the escape pod. In addition to being slightly larger, it has been designated the R-1 in Oordali service. The ajar torpedo tubes fire custom, long-range homing torpedoes are paired with two large repeating lasers in-line with the engines. Instead of an astromech droid, the space in front of the cockpit has been turned into a pressurized cargo hold, often containing a hardcase full of survival equipment, a blaster of the pilot's preference, and a royal cortosis-phrik alloy shield. [REVIEW]: 75080 AAT

Set Name: AAT Set #: 75080 Theme: Star Wars Pieces: 251 Minifigures: 3 Year of Release: 2015 MSRP: USD $24.99 INTRODUCTION Unfortunately, as a child who was just beginning to appreciate the magical world of LEGO, I missed out on the original 2000 AAT. And then I was in my LEGO dark ages when the 2009 revision was released. When I found out that LEGO would be releasing another AAT in 2015, I couldn't wait to see the first preliminary pictures after many years of waiting to finally get my hands on an AAT (which I might add is one of the few prequel vehicles I actually like). And when those first pictures of the 2015 AAT leaked, it was immediately welcomed with hate and criticism on the internet. People did not like its beefy hull, its small stature, and the minifigure selection. After the full-sized (but in my opinion over-sized) 2009 Clone Wars AAT, a lot of people felt like this was a step down. However, I did my best to remain optimistic. I was relieved it was based on the Episode I version, since I don't like it painted blue as much as tan, and the smaller size meant less pain on my wallet! Given its low price and my yearning to have an AAT in my collection, I decided to be an early adopter of this set and experience it for myself. Here is the back of the box, which features photos demonstrating the play features, as well as a bunch of CGI pictures of the minifigures interacting, which I don't think I've seen on box art before. Here are the contents of the box. We get three numbered bags, one loose piece, and one instruction manual. Thankfully, there is no sticker sheet (although one could argue this set actually needed stickers, which I'll get to later). MINIFIGURES I don't think anyone will be buying this set for the figures. It comes with 2 battle droids and Jar Jar Binks, none of which are new designs. For a while, people thought the battle droids would have new arms, but I can confirm that they do not. While all of the figures included make sense for the set, it would have been nice to get a new, exclusive figure such as Boss Nass. Here is a plain battle droid with a blaster, which I'm sure we all have by now. Here is the pilot battle droid, another figure I'm sure many of us already have in our collection. Given what this set is though, an AAT needs battle droids for functioning, so it's hard to complain about their inclusion. And finally, we have Jar Jar Binks, which I've read is the same version as the one included in the 2011 Battle of Naboo set. He carries his Gungan shield and weapon. Somehow, this is actually my first Jar Jar Binks minifigure. Finally, my Lego SW minifigure collection is complete... THE BUILD To give you an idea of what the build was like, I took a photo after each bag. Here is the vehicle after the first bag: After the second bag: And after the third and final bag: THE AAT: Here we can see the AAT's profile, which I think pretty accurately captures the design of the tank, especially given the scale. From the front, we can see the "chubbiness" of the hull which many complained about, and the GLARING lack of the six frontal launch tubes. As much as I hate stickers, this set really could have benefited by having them (or better yet printed pieces) that depict the front launchers. However, the spring-loaded shooters are concealed, which is nice. There's not much to see in the back, aside from the mechanism used to shoot the launchers, which is similar to many of the 2015 sets. The pilot can fit comfortably in the center of the tank, even when holding his gun. And the other battle droid can fit in the turret, but its pretty tight, and he cannot hold his gun (but why would he anyway?) Boy, that looks like a comfortable position! The top of the tank, if you're curious: And because I also have the 2014 MTT and plan on displaying them together, here is how they look next to each other: Not bad, not bad at all. (IMHO ) And here it is next to the 2014 Advent Calendar AAT. Take that, anyone who thinks this one is small! CONCLUSION AND RATINGS Minifigures: 5/10 - The figs are pretty boring and none of them are new, but they make sense for inclusion in the set. It just would have been nice to get an exclusive fig to give this set more selling power. Parts: 8/10 - There are tan pieces, lots of them. I like tan. I like it more than the blue of the Clone Wars version of the tank. Build: 8/10 - It was a fast and simple build, but with a set this small, that's pretty standard. Price: 10/10 - Given the number of pieces (251) and the price ($24.99) that pretty much hits the golden ratio perfectly, and I while I think $20 would make this set much more tempting for some people, I do think $25 is fair considering the original one was $20 15 years ago and contained far less pieces. Design: 9/10 - I am positive that a lot of you will disagree with this rating, but given the scale of this set, I think the LEGO designers did a pretty good job of re-creating the tank at this size. It's not blocky like the original and its not on steroids like the 2009 version. Yes, its small, but I don't mind that. The AAT isn't supposed to be a giant vehicle. The only deduction I took off of the design score was the lack of frontal launch tubes. Playability: 9/10 - As a toy, this is very playable. You get a turret that spins a full 360 degrees, spring-loaded launchers, and minifigures representing both the "good guys" and "bad guys". What more can you ask for? Overall: 82% - I'm sure many of you will disagree with this score given how much hate this set has gotten on the internet, but honestly, I like this set a lot. I'm happy with it, and while I won't deny that it is indeed small, I think it captures the design of the AAT very well, and its smaller stature makes it both easier to store for display and open to the possibility of buying multiples for building an army. I really dislike the fact it does not have any frontal launchers which I think is an essential part of the AAT, but I suppose stickers on curved pieces are a pain anyway. If you already have 7155 or 8018, there's probably little reason to get this set, but if you're like me and don't have any AATs yet, I honestly think its worth grabbing. If you have the MTT, if compliments it nicely, and at $25, its hardly an investment. All in all, even if I'm the only one that feels this way, I'm glad LEGO made this set, and I think it makes a nice addition to any SW prequel collection. As I said about the 2014 MTT in my review, I doubt these will be flying off of shelves given the timing of its release (although I only saw one at the Target I found it at), but the low price will make it tempting for many, unlike the MTT. Hope you enjoyed reading this!
