    [O-F02] Big Sister

Notes: This was supposed to be even bigger, with more Vignettes, and with a lot of photo-editing, but there was a heat wave that rendered my Attic unusable for more than a few minutes, and that's where my Lego collection resides. That said, enjoy! Planet: F02 (In orbit, aboard the Axle) Tags: Spaceship, Land Vehicle, Science (testing the walker) Henry: "Dr. Long, you sent for me?..." Dr. Long: "Hans-Heinrich Himmelmann, we need to talk." Henry: "Is this about that young engineer kid I kinda chased out of the Earthship I constructed? The kid was a menace. He'd a' messed it all up!" Dr. Long: "No... This is about more than that. You are aware that Octan employees are required to abide by certain common-sense rules, are you not?" Henry: "Oh boy... Yes. I'm aware of tha regulations." Dr. Long: "Then you are deliberately disobeying them. That's not what I wanted to hear. Let me show you something. Come over here." "Look into that holo-screen. We're in the O.C.S. Axle's control room. From here I can access all the security footage we gather from our innumerable cameras, corporation wide. I'll give you a glimpse, shall I?" H3: "That's really not necessa--" Dr. Long: "Here we have Engineering Bay Gplus-003, where one of your colleagues is testing out Octancorp's latest line of Mecha walkers. He'll have some adjustments to make, assuredly, but do you notice the smile on his face? He's enjoying keeping busy and the harmonious work-environment in which he finds himself. It says so right here in his file. We weren't even testing for that. As soon as he finishes his report on the prototype, we can begin manufacturing these walkers and sell them to customers, and use them for Octan's own interests. He fits in." H3: "I think I can see what you're getting a--" "And here we have Hangar Gn-606, where First Branch Executive, and acting CEO, John Hannibal is disembarking on a final mission from the Axle. Observe his purpose and unwavering dedication to Octan and his duties. He is doing his part for our great corporation." "Here you can see the exterior of my room where... oh Lord Business... I really have to talk to that kid." "Let's move on." "And here is Third Branch Executive Wick Nole. As much as he would have preferred to be out exploring our new galaxy, for the past few weeks he has been confined to our Med Ward. What do you think he spent his time doing? Do you think he got drunk every night to cope with his misfortune?" H3: "Let me guess, he di--" "I can show you that too." 3 Weeks ago. 2 Weeks ago. 1 Week ago. "You see... Octan functions best when its employees all... work together. When we accept events that occur to us, and move forward... together. The dilemma I face with you, when I'm informed by a subordinate that you savagely abused him, is that you are fully capable of working well. All of my observations, and the records in your file indicate that you have a high level of competency at what you do. I respect competency. It is one of the rarest traits in all mankind, to speak subjectively. The problem, however, is that you do not function well as part of the team. Your behavior is erratic and antisocial, and some of your habits are simply non-regulation. Do you think Octan would have missed such incidents as these?" Incident aboard Axle Report: H3 Vomit in Hallway. Incident on F02: H3 Verbally Harasses Software Developers. H3: "So that's why I was stationed there... Some of this feels a bit like a violation of human rights, I gotta say. Are you telling me you watch me every second of the day?" Dr. Long: "Yes. It's in your contract. Section 12, subsection 14, Line 7. Octan has every single room on the O.C.S. Axle watched, and the air ducts as well. This is a space ship, not a hotel, Mr. Himmelmenn. If something goes wrong we need to know immediately. I did not want to show you all of this, but you left me no choice. You attacked a colleague, Hans-Heinrich. As competent as you are, and as easily controlled through simpler means than this, I must do something, as your Branch Executive, to ensure that you behave. So... Next time I catch you drinking on the job, or with a blood alcohol concentration a drop above regulations, you will find yourself in a much more hostile work environment... after you undergo rehabilitation on one of the most dangerous planets in our control. Have I made myself clear? This is nothing personal. This is for your own good, and Octan's good. We must maintain a harmonious, orderly environment for our employees to truly thrive..." "So stay in line!" ______ //"Log Date: 380, this is Dr. Danielle Long. The Chekhov's Gauntlet is finally in early prototype stage. Human testing will begin in a week, if we don't experience any unexpected setbacks. Dr. Long signing off."// ~Insectoid Aristocrat

    [M - C04] M.A.N.T.I.S. Stryker 2.0

Location: C04 Tags: Vehicle, Spying, Spaceship, Military. Begin Log: Master Data, we're receiving a garbled transmission from a Kawashitan base on Aeristus. Quick, Jade, prepare the Stryker for a rescue mission! I can't let you do that, Master Data. Starstriker must be eliminated for our plans to conquer Andromeda to succeed. Weren't you the Octan spy I captured a few weeks ago? Grrr...I will stop you! Quick, jump in the Stryker 2.0. I'll handle this thug! Stryker 2.0? It looks like a Kawashitan fighter to me! The outer plating can now be swapped for any mission. You'll be infiltrating the Kawashitans on this mission, so we designed it to fit in with their spacecraft as much as possible. Thanks Jade. We'll rescue Starstriker before the Kawashitans even know he's there! End Log A picture of all the original builds for this mission:
  3. Location: H08 - Sinden's Run Tags: Vehicle, Land Vehicle, Spaceship, Exploration, AG, Octan ++Pombe, personal log, start recording++ I have just returned from an extensive and exhausting meeting with one of Kawashita's sales and marketing teams on Jurin II, where we spent the entire time debriefing one another. As tired as I was, however, I wanted to meet with Eshey to go over what she has accomplished while I was away. Ava Gato, the Kawashita inter-corporation relations officer, was also on hand, apparently having accompanied Eshey on her assignments. Ava spent the meeting emphasizing how difficult Eshey was to work with, using the word "hard" several times to describe my apprentice. I can't help but agree with her, given Eshey's penchant to suspect that every living thing she encounters on her assignments to be dangerous. I will consult with Big Z on how to help Eshey deal with her issues. Unfortunately for us, Ava was being called back by her superiors. She wished us well and headed back to Kawashita space in her personal starfighter. Eshey and I met with Big Z to see what his solution to Eshey's problem was. His solution was as elegant as it was brilliant. He's always someone I can count on when I need help or advice. He came up with a personal exploration vehicle that uses chemicals that when combined can be used to cryogenically freeze living things. Dr. Long won't have much to complain about much longer! I decided to send Eshey to H08, or Sinden's Run, an asteroid belt rich with awesomnium, for her next assignment and to test Big Z's new vehicle. I would have liked to join her, but I was barely able to walk from all the debriefing I did with Kawashita's sales and marketing team, so I decided to stay aboard the Axle to recuperate. Her report from Sinden's Run indicated that she landed and explored one of the larger asteroids, and was successful in finding awesomnium. Additionally, she encountered little rock like aliens, which when she instinctively pulled the trigger on her weapon, were frozen instead of obliterated, unlike in her past assignments. These were collected, and I hope Dr. Long will be pleased. ++Pombe, personal log, stop recording++ Next: More pics under the spoiler tag. EDIT: Whoops...could the mods add [O - H08] to the title of this post, please.

    [K-B07] Old School

Location: B07 Vollfort Tags: Spaceship, Pilot, Vollfort, Kawashita Mission 7: Old School After taking "old 38" as the execs called her back to HQ for decommissioning I had to break out a really old ship to continue working. I had hoped to have more time but the corp has me designing and building other ships to protect against a alien threat that may or may not come. This week they sent me to Vollfort to shore up our planets influence behind the corporate lines. It's a dry, boring planet, little bit of biomass and a little bit of alien life. Although I haven't seen any. First things first, get my back pack on and start figuring out how this ship breaks down. It has been a long time since I've flown her. I designed her after some old school ships that used to fly the galaxy, decades ago. Next up, get out these biomass locaters. They will send out a signal that bounces off each sensor and then the boys can fly in and scope up what they need. I sure as heck ain't walking around looking for the stuff. Now that the back end is off and setup to signal for biomass I'll get the communication section ready. This will send the signal across the galaxy to Kawashita ships. Everything is set. Now to take whats left of this tub back to base and keep plugging away at the challenges ahead of me. I based this ship off the Space Theme from the '80's. I hope you like it.
  5. Location: F02 - Lesser Drigo Tags: Spaceship, Land Vehicle Back aboard the Axle, Pilot John Hannibal prepares for a new mission. As the trolley pulls in to take the pilots to their ships, he has an extra bounce in his step. The company's needs are starting to coincide with Hannibal's own ambitions and he is happy to be leaving for his last mission based out of the Axle. [O - F02] HANGAR 2 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr The Axle has become a great ship under Dr. Long. Ever moving, steadily humming, never boring. It was larger than most capital cities and was the heart of Octan's presence in this galaxy. Every deck was it's own community of mechanics, scientists, cooks, farmers, engineers, entrepreneurs, civil servants, firefighters, artists, teachers, mothers, fathers, drivers, pilots, barbers, tailors, dancers, bartenders, medics, tattoo artists, and the occasional special forces agent. Everything moved in complete chaos and unison. Every body had a purpose and every action a mission. But Octan would need more Axles if it was going to maintain its position in the galaxy. [O - F02] HANGAR 3 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr Hannibal is dropped off at his newest delivery, a heavily armored jump ship needed by the driver crews working on F02. [O - F02] HANGAR 4 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr His next mission would depart from F02, so this was goodbye to the Axle, for now. [O - F02] HANGAR 5 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr C&C very much appreciated. Thanks.

We could always send someone more... disposable. No, I will go. I've seen him in action. If you want him wearing our colors we must strike while the iron is hot. Very well. Your ship awaits you in Docking Bay #4. Log of Jebediah O'Reilly: Entry #010 I have taken my ship to the frozen planet of Terrial Major. [O-D03] An Offer You Can't Refuse What? Huh? Who are you? What do you want? Calm down. My identity is not important right now. What is important is that I represent the Octan Corporation. Is this about those pilots? I'M GOING ON TRIAL FOR THAT! This is not about the pilots. Their deaths were... unfortunate, though inconsequential. I am in fact here to make you an offer. An offer? Yes. Turn your back on the Kawashita Group and join Octan's Spec Ops team. All charges against you will be dismissed and you will instantly be promoted. We know you currently trust Kawashita leadership just about as far as you can throw them. I PILOTED THAT THING, DIDN'T I? Q PROMISED ME THE FILES! Do you really believe that when he is done he will give you what you want? You are a pawn in a greater game. Octan holds the answers you seek. About Q. About Lauren. About everything. How do you know about her?! Octan knows everything that goes on in this galaxy. I'm going to have to say thank you but no thank you. I'll give Q one more chance to make things right. Have it your way. If Kawashita disappoints you again... We'll be waiting. Just give us a call. Rei Kazama: [ Well, about that... ] Aera Lure: Ok, never mind, Ensign. Carry on! Rei Kazama: [ Yes sir! ] Kawashita KS-47 Shōkaku (翔鶴, “Flying Crane”) :: Aera's Diary :: 13 Julali 3815 1232 hours Having just completed a training mission in The Fascini Cluster, we were called in at the last minute to Aeristus to support the fighting there. The Murasame came into low orbit and I took my newly formed team on a flight patrol in the Shōkaku we used among the asteroids. M.A.N.T.I.S. is a tough opponent, so I hope they're ready. The Shōkaku's superior maneuverability may give them the edge they need. :: Technical Notes :: The Kawashita KS-47 Shōkaku (翔鶴, “Flying Crane”) is a long serving fighter in the Kawashita fleet. Originally meant as a replacement to the Flying Crane, the Kawashita KS-78 Reppū (烈風, "Strong Gale") developed instead into a heavier armed strike fighter. While the Strong Gale boasts more firepower and tougher armor, the Flying Crane still has the edge in maneuverability and is favored by some veteran pilots for one-on-one combat. The Flying Crane can still be seen on the front lines in most Kawashita air superiority missions. There is a rumor that a true successor to the Flying Crane is in development, but most consider it unlikely.

    [K - A08] The Heart of Awsomnium

[K - A05] The Heart of Awsomnium Location: A08, Crentium Tags: Spaceship, Building (the hangar, the judges will have to decide if it counts), Science, Kawashita Before we begin, this story is a direct continuation of Agent Beltar's post "A Strange Deal" which was posted earlier this week, so it will make a lot less sense if you haven't read that one. It's also the culmination of a 3 week storyline I have been doing (previous entries: "More Than Meets the Eye... and The Investigation Continues...). Earlier this week, I discussed with a friend and fellow AG builder. He said that I should probably build a little smaller, since the details might get lost when the size gets too big. I pondered upon this and thought "yea, that makes sense... I should start building smaller things". Then I completely f*cked that up and went on to build my largest build yet. The spaceship is a bit over 3900 pieces, and then there are various scenes, etc. on top of that. The design might seem a bit odd at first, but take into account that it's supposed to be a prototype for testing this particular engine. Now, let's begin. (Since Bluerender renders transparent images very dark, I've decided to include unrendered versions under the Spoiler button directly after the renders. Also, isn't it odd how much "Light Stone Grey" in LDD looks like white?) --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log Begin. Date: 1307(38)15. Scramble code: ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... ... [Encrypted].//-- [Alpha level clearance check... ... ... ... ... Passed.] As expected, Agent Beltar "came by" earlier. After making sure he received the mail from Lauren, I was pretty certain he would seek me out, and that I would get my pilot for The Heart of Awsomnium. When we got down to the hangar and he first saw the ship, Beltar immediately let out a little gasp. It was clear that he was impressed, despite doing his best to hide it. Recording... begin: Beltar: You want me to pilot... that? Q: Yes. Remember, if you do this for me, I'll get you your files on Lauren. Beltar: *Sigh* Fine, so what is it that is so special about this ship? What do those rings back there do? Q: The Heart of Awsomnium is the first recorded attempt of teleportation by mankind. Beltar: *O_O* What?! Q: I know it may be hard to grasp. A couple of weeks ago, we came across what seemed to be an Awsomnium generator created by an ancient civilization. However, some things were quite off about it. It didn't seem to have any way of outputting the energy, and we found it in the middle of the ocean, not near any other recorded ruins. So, I ordered a team to bring it here in order for me to study it. After a few days, it was clear that my suspicions were correct; it was the remainder of an old teleportation experiment. After a lot of tinkering and even more calculating, I finally managed to create this prototype drive. It is still fairly large, but I hope I can reduce the size over time. The "rings" which you refer to are part of a black hole generator, which has enough pull to fold space-time, thus creating a wormhole between your current location and the destination, which you will go through. Beltar: So... you wish me to become swallowed and spit out by a black hole? Q: If you want to put it like that... yes. Based on my calculations, the shuttle should be able to withstand the pressure, and you should survive. Beltar: And then you will give me the files I need? Q: Yes. [beltar ponders for around half a minute.] Beltar: Fine, in for a penny, in for a pound, right? Also, if this goes according to plan, I'll be the first teleported human! Q: Yes, I suppose. I have downloaded PauL into this smaller astromech droid shell, which will fit in the dock of the ship. The ship is ready whenever you are. [beltar boards the ship and flies it out outside the Kaiju.] Q: I have set the ship's coordinates so that you will be teleported to Marden. It's a peaceful planet within our area of control, so you shouldn't have any problems. As soon as you arrive, set up a comlink to me, and I'll have the coordinates for you to be teleported back calculated. Beltar: Roger that. [beltar takes a deep breath, closes his eyes and turns on the teleporting device.] Beltar: Am I alive? I am alive! Yattaaaa! Wow, awsome, I am the first teleported person! You rock Nu'q! Q: Uhm, all those are technically correct, but it seems you have ended up near Mynderis instead. Also, it seems like you ended up right next to a large M.A.N.T.I.S. fleet. Beltar: Oh, it's gonna be one of THOSE days... Recording... end. The prototype testing was in the end considered a success, despite the loss of The Heart of Awsomnium. The incorrect location of the teleportation device was found to be a result of a minor miscalibration in the calculation software. This has since been fixed. Thanks to its highly explosive Awsomnium core, it seems like the Heart of Awsomnium was completely destroyed and thus unable to be recovered by the nearby M.A.N.T.I.S. fleet. Preliminary readings suggest Agent Beltar managed to escape. His current whereabouts are however unknown. --//Alpha Level Encrypted Private Log End. Signature: Col. QL. I appreciate the offer, Ava, but I get the feeling that a certain special agent might make sure I don't see my next birthday if that were to happen (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=110370). Also, I'm still learning from Pombe, and I don't want to let him down. Where is your sensei? The last I heard, the meeting with your sales and marketing team got extended. [O-F02] Equal and Opposite Reaction

A sonic boom broke the silence of the dry canyon. A truck-sized black and green object hurdled meteorically from the sky. No one observed the controlled fall of the vessel, however, due to the remote location it chose upon which to descend. Lesser Drigo was an arid planet. The days were dry and hot, and the nights were dry and cold. Not many cared to travel the deserts and canyons, when there were air-conditioned Octan facilities in which to reside... Which turned out to be perfect for the agents of M.A.N.T.I.S, who made their homeworld on a vicious volcanic planet to start with. Not much fazed an agent of M.A.N.T.I.S. not even a border-line free-fall from orbit in the back of the crammed canister of a Dropship designed exclusively for returning to space. Nor would the drop from the cannister to the planet on the back of a dune-bike bother a M.A.N.T.I.S. soldier. The bright green canister of the dropship shone fiercely in the harsh sun, as it finally descended to non-lethal dropping distance. It's massive engines were engaged at lowest setting, which was enough to break its fall and get it set to blast back up. This technique led to it being named the "Hopper" it was either that, or MANTIS liked naming their ships after bugs. When the canister's ramp opened, the lone figure who had been jammed inside, atop a lime green painted bike (no subtly necessary) fell out, and hit the ground rolling. No time to waste. The mission was what mattered. Lady Kianna looked up to see the thrusters of the Hopper at full blaze as it climbed--increasingly quickly--back into space. No retrieval until the mission was successful. The drop point had been chosen for its isolation, but as the MANTIS agent rode further towards her objective, she found out that she was not alone. Octan really was everywhere... although the perimeter guard before her didn't look like he was paying sufficient attention.... time to test out that new tool Sal gave her.... Guard: "Ok, baby, so... What are you wearing?" Lady Kianna: "Time to test out Sal's new tranquilizer. He said it should cause temporary paralysis, unconsciousness, and 'some other fun stuff.' Hope this kid doesn't mutate." *Thunk* Lady Kianna: "Sweet dreams..." "Oh, of course. This is Octan: The robots do all the work! Better make sure to disable it before it gives away my presence..." "Only got one shot at this..." "Now... To get that artifact..." -----Meanwhile, in a Secret Octan Speakeasy directly beneath the primary Laundry facilities----- Dr. Ben Nai: "Sacked!... Kapoot! Finito! After all my hard work bringing this shtation up from the foundations! And now, just because some damned MANTISh shaboteurs attacked, Dr. Long think'sh I'm to blame for all this facilities problemsh!" Henry: "That's rough, buddy." Dr. Nai: "And you know what? [O - E02] Climb

Location: E02 - Jurin II Tags: Building, Vehicle, Spaceship, Land Vehicle, Exploration After crash landing on E02, Pilot John Hannibal assesses his situation with his trusty droid Dora. They must move across the island chains, looking for communication equipment to coordinate an emergency pick up. But, the Octan walker that survived the crash is unable to maneuver through the aggressive flora on the island floors. With a few modifications, Hannibal's new climber is ready to scale the tremendous island trees and swing across the terrain. Up they go, digging into the bark of the tree to get to the lower branches. "Oh... hi Hannibal. Where have you been?" CLIMB - 5 by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr "What the heck? I've been directly below a landing platform this entire time?" "I guess so. We put this in last week. I just came back for some hair ties I forgot. We've been busy over on F02 and F03." "So everything is going smoothly?" "Yep... didn't know you were missing. Oh well, Kodan, get the executive a ship. I'm sure he's got some filling to catch up on. We'll check your new equipment into the shop." "Here you go sir... have a safe flight." Climb - B by Ryan McBryde, on Flickr

    [K - B05] Marphacia Musings

Location: Marphacia Tags: Kawashita, Marphacia, Airplane, Spaceship, Military I think I may be getting noticed! During my tour on Sorn, I managed to locate a MANTIS convoy and wound up shooting down two planes and sinking a transport (all in fine style, of course!). Then Aera came in with her Hiryu and, well, there wasn’t much left. So it seems that things are improving… Now, I’m flying recon over Marphacia in a Zephyr interceptor. The Peregrine was a great ride with firepower, but this little puppy handles like nobody’s business! It may not be packing as much of a punch, but with twin phase pulse blasters and two 11-shot “Pepperbox” mini-missile launchers, I can hit pretty hard and then split in a hurry, calling in some bigger guns if needed. Now I just need to find some Bugs to swat! Marphacia. Primarily jungle and swamps. Hot, sticky, nasty. Man, God bless the drivers and explorers like Commander Turtle, Mister S, and Dragonfire. Why they would want to hike around in the mud and humidity while avoiding nasties that want to grab, slime, sting, and chomp a bite out of your bottom is beyond me. Nope. Give me the wide-open expanse of space or sky, the unrestricted freedom of flight. But, I will help those mud-marchers out as much as I can… All right! Kawashita really needs to address the issue of safety! These techs are unbelievable! They should know not to hit the suction function on the fuel cart when the hose is detached and there’s somebody near it! I mean, really? The fact that the guy nearly fell to the floor laughing didn’t help, either. This one was fun! I like the small, compact builds I’ve been seeing and decided to try another one myself. It is a rather simple build, but I like how it turned out. I’m really pleased with the missile launchers. They work better than I had hoped. Just wish I had a different color for the engine thrusters so that they would stand out more.

    [K-E11] A New Beginning

Location: The Fascini Cluster E11 Tags: Spaceship, Kawashita, Military, The Fascini Cluster, E11 :: Aera's Diary :: 06 Julali 3815 1304 hours I left Sorn with mixed feelings. Once the fighting had ended, I began to imagine myself settling down in such a place, the quiet beauty of the endless sea and sky soothing my soul. Perhaps someday. Instead, I was offered a promotion to the rank of commander and, along with that, orders to transfer from the Ryūjō to the Murasame. Being a pilot is my life. I accepted. It's quite a change moving from a flight leader on a light escort to commander on a heavy cruiser. I welcome the challenge - I only hope my team find another flight leader who will serve them well. Having said my goodbyes, I took my leave of Sorn and the Ryūjō and took a transport to The Fascini Cluster. The Murasame is currently in The Fascini Cluster in a reserve capacity. Helmed by the highly regarded Captain Quentin Voss, I imagine it won't remain there long as his skill will be desired on the front lines. My first order of business is to assess the Murasame's pilots and to assemble a new team. While I was offered many personnel files, I opted for something a little more hands on - live-fire flight drills within the asteroids of The Fascini Cluster. Nothing better to test the resolve and skill of the pilots than mock combat in an environment like that! For a little added fun, I'll join them. I chose the Shōkaku fighter for this task. I was even able to get one done up for me in my usual red! Perks of being the commander. It couldn't be better suited, given it's extreme mobility and highly accurate blaster. We'll of course hone the frequency such that it won't do much more damage than register the hit, but it will still be able to displace some rock. I'm curious to see who uses this to their advantage. :: Entry end :: :: Aera's Diary :: 05 Julali 3815 1309 hours Oh! I almost forgot! I have to remember to send that technician some Orinshian Tea! :: Entry end :: :: Aera's Diary :: 05 Julali 3815 1926 hours Well that was even more fun than I hoped! We have some good pilots on the Murasame, as expected. I scored more than a few hits and came away clean, so even though there's room for improvement, I can work with these pilots! In the coming days I'll choose my flight and make proper introductions, as well as share more about Captain Voss and the crew of the Murasame. I'll also tour the hanger deck and get a few close ups of the Shōkaku. Truly a fine plane and I haven't talked about it much here. I'll also tour the rest of the Murasame - there's much to see! For now, however, it's reports. Tons of reports - and it's getting late! :: Entry end ::

    [K - B06] Flying Dragon

Location: Sorn (B06) Tags: Kawashita, Airplane, Spaceship, Sorn, B06 Flying Dragon Aera’s Diary Junali 29, 3815 Sorn Second week on Sorn. Endless hours of sun dancing in the waves below. Days pass. Everything runs together. All I can see is blue and the constant flashes of light. I close my eyes and lie back in my bunk. I am still soaring over the water. Lips parched from the salt air I squeeze my bottle dry and throw it to the floor. We are stationed on some rock that’s not much different from the others I have flown over. There’s nothing here, but there is beauty in austerity. The sky meets the water someplace on an infinite horizon. Two lovers, arms outstretched, always just out of reach. The emptiness of this place fills your soul. I’ve felt a peace and tranquility here that I have rarely known. Between missions I lose myself in reports. My hands shake from the stims. Long hours spent on classified work and longer hours in the air searching for the enemy. I try to get some sleep. Feels like the first I have had in days. ::: Start transmission ::: Blackhawk: Aera? Aera do you copy? Aera: Blackhawk... Glad to have you here with us. You've been a great help! Blackhawk: It’s about time my luck has turned for the better. Ow! Aera: ??? Blackhawk: I hit my foot on the panel. Broke it when the torpedo fell on it during mission prep. Aera: ... Blackhawk: I’ve encountered a Mantis patrol and I’ve engaged them. I have things under control here, but I spotted their main convoy. I’m sending you the coordinates. Aera: Alright! I’ve got just the thing! Save some for me! Blackhawk: I don’t think that’s going to be a problem… ::: End transmission ::: My heart races as I run through the hall. This is what I'm here for. So many days of searching have come to an end. It's time to see what we are up against. I’ve given my team the Reppū fighters. We’ve brought the big guns to Sorn - the Hiryū! A heavy assault bomber, this thing means business and I aim to make good use of it! Kawashita KB-66 Hiryū (飛龍, "Flying Dragon”) Seen on the front lines of most Kawashita assault operations, the Flying Dragon is an anti-cruiser bomber that sees double duty as an air-to-ground platform planet side. Housing no less than 6 Kawashita KE-280 engines, the Flying Dragon earns it's title as one of the most powerful sub-cruiser class ships in Kawashita's service. Featuring 8 hardpoints, a large payload area, 2 double-barreled blasters, 2 disruptors, 2 nose-mounted cannons and 4 rear-facing gatlings there is little it cannot handle. Variable position wings give the Flying Dragon a mode each for bombing and strafing priority and it's heavy armor ensure it's survivability. Although improved in strafing mode, the turning radius is quite wide, giving rise to the running joke among Kawashita pilots: "Just point it in one direction and shoot. Nothing will remain in your way and won't need to turn!" The long-rumored KB-66C finally nears production and claims to improve maneuvarbility substantially, adding additional verniers on the wings as well as improving the engine timing software. Additionally, the KB-66C adds a second rear facing cockpit for a weapons master position. These improvements and others expect the Flying Dragon to continue it's place on the front lines of Kawashita service.

    [K - A06] The Akena

The Akena is the flagship of a new series of dreadnought produced by the Kawashita Group for its naval fleet; created with the latest technology, these huge ships are armed with heavy missile batteries and laser cannons for point defense and protected by advanced energy shields, everything makes them a formidable opponents for any other battleship. In addition there are several embarked squadrons able to attack, escort or do reconnaissance in support of the mission. The Akena-class doesn't stop there, in a galaxy to be explored each vessel must be able to carry on colonization of new planets rich in resources and the Akena-class was created thinking about this too: they are able to carry troops, vehicles and prefabricated garrisons for the colonization of any planet, as well as have the right rooms for all of this, as secluded bays and laboratories. And this week, I`m back to trying to build a decent spaceship... using Brick Separators! *** Start Log *** Junali 23rd, AD 3825 Thesseus B. Von Geekington reporting The Pale Lady has informed us that High Command wants us to go and travel to sector E-11, an asteroid belt known as The Fascini Cluster. Scans have revealed this belt to be rich in Awesomnium ore, and we are going that way in order to set up excavations. Using our deep space mining vessel, the Separator, we are arriving at the first rocks at this moment, and preparing to set up the mining gear. *** End Log *** So yes, we all are starting to collect a lot of those orange brick separators by now, as they come in about every Lego set of 50 EUR and above. So why I was collecting the latest `heap` of them last week from the workspace, I started thinking about how to use them for something more practical, like, as the core of a spaceship ;-) Hope you like it!

    [K - B06] Demon infiltration

Raven return from Guinevere and get a call from Narbilu. I have an infiltration mission for you. What do you know of the Dust Demons? It's the pirates that's been raiding our mines and transports since we got to Andromeda. Interrogation with the prisoner that Makoto brought in earlier suggest they arrived with the same colony ships used by the companies. They are primarily targeting Kawashita and have followed our expansion with several temporary bases. Look like you are as good as your reputation, reading every rapport are you?. Only the important ones, sir. What's the mission? As you have read we know how the Demons come in. It's not likely to be via our colony ships but security have been increased. They then rapport to the nearest base and get there gear and mission. We have falsified an ID of a new recruit based on the prisoners ID and need someone to pose as a Dust Demon and get information. Koro don't have the looks to pull it of and was sent for another mission. You are our best resource for this kind of job. I'm on it, sir. I'll speak to the prisoner about background details and what to expect as a rookie. When do I start? As soon as possible, they are getting more of a problem every day. When you're ready, go to the base at Lesser Direstan. It's the only one we know of that's not blown up. Understod. And remember, you will have no backup and no communication so you can only contact us if you hijack there communication or get back here. Just like every other infiltration mission I've ever done. Raven get ready and goes to Lesser Direstan where she's ordered to immediately travel to Sorn. Without showing any surprise Raven thinks “Sorn!? All official channels have said we would stay out of there as of the treaty with Mantis. How can the Demons know we are going to Sorn?” Ok, newbies. Get in the Wasp. Training will begin when we get to Sorn. Why is it called a wasp, because it have stripes? No, it's because of the “sting” it gout in the back. What? I don't see a gun or anything. It's a drop ship. The “sting” is the soldiers coming out of it. With some work even you maggots could get good enough to jump out of it. For now, get in and shut up! Hi, I'm Trevor Sarah. Raven and Trevor shake hand. Little more is said on the trip to Sorn. Arrival at Sorn by EpsilonEta, on Flickr This time the stand in planet was made by Random-Acts-Stock on deviantart. The stars are the same by PSD Graphics. So you are the wimps that think they can be Dust Demons. Lets see if I can get you in shape before Kawashita get there hands on every piece of awesomnium on this planet.

Location: E02 - Jurin II Tags: Exploration, Spaceship, AG, Octan ++Start data transmission++ Octan apprentice explorer Eshey Reeshia Kolai reporting in on behalf of my mentor, explorer Pombe. I am executing an exploration mission on behalf of my mentor because he is, according to his own words, "out of town this week". I don't even know what that means. Being here in Andromeda, we are already out of town, so I don't know how much further out of town he can be. In fact, he can be frustratingly obtuse, and I'm not certain it's intentional. He just doesn't make much sense most of the time. I mean...I am happy to have a job at all, of course. Given my lack of industry experience, I was surprised to be hired at all, even as a temp. Though, to be honest, I had hoped to apprentice for Lu Caslaug-Hing, my personal hero and an inspiration to women everywhere. Or Wick Nole or Jacques LaRose, both of whom are famous explorers. But nope, I got Pombe. In my short time here, I've learned two things from him: be armed and shoot first. I did get written up by Dr. Long for destroying several plant samples during our last mission (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=110932), but I wasn't taking any chances. I have no idea why Pombe doesn't see the danger in our missions. Those alien cactus monsters almost killed the legendary Wick Nole (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111084)!!! Right now, he is still recovering (http://www.eurobrick...howtopic=111327). I hope he makes it. Octan can't afford to lose an explorer like him. That cutie, Big Z, is nice enough to equip me with some military grade hardware, which I'm certain I will depend on from now on. Too bad I hear he is dating Pombe's former apprentice, Isabel. Ah wells.... Anyways, I've just arrived at planet E02 and established orbit. Also known as Jurin II, this planet is mostly ocean with many island chains where jungles grow. Current reports indicate that it is a tropical paradise, but I am here to confirm reports of awesomnium deposits on the planet. I'm not much of a pilot, so I'm glad John Hannibal was able to give me some pointers. Pombe had left me this little cramped spaceship to use. I asked him why I didn't get to pilot a better spaceship and his reply was that he "had less than an hour to build and photograph a spaceship before leaving to catch his flight" and he further remarked that I should be happy that the engines were attached by more than one stud. Huh? I told you he doesn't make sense. He also warned me about the alien I would encounter in orbit, which made no sense, unless it was also in a spaceship, since nothing could survive in space. He said something about an "exploration bonus" but I wasn't able to ask him more about it before he left. Again, he makes no... [LOUD THUD] WHAT WAS THAT?!?!?! $%@%^$#^^*%&%$$^^*%^@$!@#%%&*&*&^#!!! 22. Mission 04 Sorn It was a hectic week in the corporation. Orders changed around and I was limited in time and ability to make a proper plan for landing on Sorn. As I entered the atmosphere I had forgotten to adjust for the planet. In my haste, I still had a previous planets layout in the navigation computer and I wasn't prepared for the difference in gravity, altitude and the lack of actual land. A water planet. Me and water usually have issues. ****Mayday....Mayday.....This is flight BR549 in Sorn airspace, I lost thrusters and have had to ditch.******Mayday.....Mayday****** I crashed hard, not sure how I'll explain this to the bosses. The ship will be a total loss, parts of it are still visible, I hope they stay afloat because I am not sure if the rescue beacon is transmitting. ****I repeat....This is flight BR549 on Sorn, Col. Brik, I have crashed in area 6-4-4-3 and am in need of rescue***** Oh great....what the heck is that floating at me? Some kind of big eyed red shark thing, just what I need. Bad enough I destroyed my ship but now I need to deal with this? Well, if I can take it out, I'll have food. If it is edible. All I know is I better see a Red and Grey ship come soon. I'm also going to hate filling out the TPS reports and crash assessment forms.
  23. A big thanks to Jason who took notice and contacted me for this to potentially become a product at their store. When redesigning it I had to make it stable and strong enough as well as making it aerodynamic, the original design was too blocky. I really hope you enjoyed this MOC and plan to purchase one; feedback and criticism is much appreciated. Available to purchase at: TheBrickShowShop.com Adeel
  24. [K - A06] Arrival at the Behemoth Kaiju So, you guys know the drill. I plan on doing something smaller for this week's build. I fail. This week I failed especially hard, considering that the Kaiju space station is ~6000 pieces (of which the space station itself is ~2500). However, I had great fun doing it, and I'm especially happy that everything could be done using legal techniques and pieces (so, if someone wanted to build it IRL, just contact me!). About the build; the base plate is 48x55 studs, no idea how tall. The high quality rendering took around 10 hours using LDD to POV-Ray (I should probably switch to Bluerender soon... I think some images would even look better using it, for example I'm not super-happy about the fourth rendered picture). After the "story", I included a little discussion regarding the size of the station, including calculations and assumptions, if anyone is interested. Also, when I edited everything together, I kinda noticed that the some of the parts resembles certain German WW1 and WW2 symbols. This is purely unintentional, so if anyone feel offended, I'm terribly sorry. C&C always welcome! --//Recording of a private conversation. Date: 2106(38)15. Scramble code: oaffalHLAkj2nj4lmkaa.//-- Narbilu: Hey, Q, everything okay with you? Q: Yes sir, everything is awsome. The new mines on Guinevere pump out gold at a steady pace, and our military bases should be able to keep M.A.N.T.I.S. at bay. Narbilu: Okay, that's great... how about... the wasps? Q: What do you mean sir? Narbilu: Well, you know, those private recordings we have... they aren't really private. See what I'm saying? Q: ... Narbilu: And, you know, as our chief engineer, you don't have to be at the front line all the time. Q: I don't? Narbilu: No. Q: ...but what about my awsome looking guns that I carry around with me all the time? Narbilu: You don't have to carry around them either. Q: I don't? But I thought they were standard requisition. Narbilu: *Sigh*, okay, first of all, you are a Colonel, and between you and me, soon to become a Brigadier General, so you don't have to use standard requisition. Second of all, have you ever seen any of our troops carrying around weapons like that? I mean, seriously, where did you even get them? And, I mean, you're an engineer, why would you even need those? Q: ...because they look awsome? Narbilu: *Sigh*, you know what. One of our Behemoth class space stations, the Kaiju, has arrived at Guinevere. You were in charge of designing them, so hop on the next Akena, take a tour around it, and see what can be improved. Since most of our gear is either manufactured there or ships via it, you will still have full control of our operations at Guinevere. Does that sound okay? Q: Sure, can I bring my guns? Narbilu: What, why wou... yes, fine, whatever, yes, you can bring your guns. The next Akena leaves from forward base 37/4-Gamma in 2 hours. Make sure you catch it. --//Recording of a private conversation stop. Scramble code: oaffalHLAkj2nj4lmkaa.//-- --//Private Log Begin. Date: 2206(38)15. Scramble code: 123StopListeningToMyPrivateStuff.//-- Heh, I love playing dumb with Narbilu. He gets riled up so quickly. Of course I know they are listening to all my private recordings. I generally like being on the front lines. Keeps you alert and makes sure you really understand what your men need. Not Guinevere though. Crappy piece of dust with those d*mn wasps. Guinevere is the 'Gates' equivalent to that place from those ancient Terran stories... Bruges, I think they call it. Anyway, it's good to be back on the Kaiju. Last time I saw her, she was in the space docks above Orinshi being built. Oh how far you have come my beautiful gargantuan lady. The Behemoth class space stations are truly the masterpieces of the Kawashita Group. Currently, there are two active; the Kaiju, and the Atlas, which is en route to Traig IV as I record this, with a third one, the Shiva, being built in the Orinshi space docks. The Behemoth class space stations are 100% modular and consist of three main types of parts; Residential, docks/engineering and science facilities. The residential areas are the big "rings". They have an independent propulsion system in order to create artificial gravity and super high speed MAGLEV elevators for transportation to the core. The Kaiju has two types of residential areas. The larger ring is configured for non military personel, i.e. science, engineering, miners, settlers, etc. The smaller rings are configured for military personel due to their proximity to the dock/engineering bays. The docks/engineering bays come in three different sizes depending on the type of ship. The largest host Ad Alpha class ships, including carriers, settlement, mining and maintenence vessels (in the docks closest to the largest ring), in addition to docking solutions for Dreadnaughts such as the Akena class. The second biggest host Alpha class ships and the smallest host fighters and bombers. Since gravity is not as important in the docks, it is simulated using directed magnetic fields. The dedicated science facilities on the Kaiju are fairly limited. There is an observatorium at the top of the station and a... sensor array on the bottom for... picking up signals? However, there are a lot of makeshift laboratories in the largest residential ring. Perhaps this is something that can be improved upon? Apparently there were some major destruction in one of the sectors after two junior researchers injected some sort of yellow reptilian creature with Awsomnium without the knowledge of their superiors. According to them, they had heard that "M.A.N.T.I.S. are doing it everywhere and creating a new breed of super-strong biological weapons". Seriously, why would anyone come up with an idea like that? It's just stupid. --//Private Log End. Signature: Q. Scramble code: 123StopListeningToMyPrivateStuff.//-- Discussion: 1. Regarding the size of the space station; when I decided to introduce the Akena class Dreadnaught to the build, my idea was that they were around 1.5 kilometers long (i.e. roughly the size of an Imperial Star Destroyer). This would make the bigger ring have a diameter of around 4.5 kilometers and a circumference of around 15 kilometers (D*Pi), and the smaller ones around 3/10 kilometers. Now, based on the Akena being 10 studs long, 1 stud is 150 meters. The rings are around 2 studs thick, i.e. 300 m. This would mean that the area for the big ring is (2.25 km ^ 2 - (2.25 km - 0.3 km) ^ 2) * Pi = 3.96 km^2 (and 2.54 km^2 for the smaller ones). The rings are 3 and 2 studs high respectively, i.e. 0.45 and 0.3 km, which yields a volume of 1.78 and 0.76 km^3 respectively, resulting in a total volume of ~3.31 km^3 in the residential area. If we assume that we are pretty generous with the space, for being a space station, and that each inhabitant would have 80 m^3 each (40 m^2 * 2 m), including all other area required, this would result in the station being able to host 3.31 / (80 / 1000 000 000) = 41.375 million people. If we assume the extra space takes up about twice as much as we initially thought, we'd still be able to host around 20 million people on the space station. Pretty nice. 2. Why are there no visible guns? Well, first of all, the base hosts an enormous fleet, which could take over an entire world by itself, so it doesn't really need that many guns. Second of all, even the biggest guns we have seen so far in AG are around 30 meters long (in my Polar Base), which would only be a fifth of a stud, so guns aren't really visible on this scale. Third of all, what's up with that absurdly huge sensor array which kinda looks like a doomsday device and is only close to military facilities?
