hello! i work at a small independent toy shop and while clearing out our old stock room we found a load of shop display items! we have various banners and a few giant mini figures bags (filled with foam i think?) is there much demand for this sort of thing or is trying to sell it a waste of time?

    [MOC] Shopping Center

Hello, I decided to praise my work. This is my first post, first photo sharing on such a large scale. I know that my building is not perfect, but I would like to hear your comments. I hope they will be useful in the future and help me lift my skills. Probably the shopping center looks better in reality. I have some problems with proper lighting. What's more, the center is relatively large, but the interior is quite cramped. I had some trouble shooting some of the shops. It's very hard to show all the features and details. [MOC] MOONEYES headquarters

My latest build matches my passion for motoring culture: it's the MOONEYES headquarters located in Santa Fe Springs, California. MOONEYES was founded by Dean Moon in 1950, the Santa Fe Springs-based hot rod shop was originally titled Moon Speed Equipment. The Moon crew was a prominent group of go-fast pioneers through the ‘50s and ‘60s, working hand in hand with the likes of legends such as Carroll Shelby — in fact, the first AC Cobra was constructed in the Moon garage. Inspired by the Dean Moon’s history I've recreated the MOON HQ, both the interior and the exterior of the building. In the garage there’re a lot of tools: a roller cabinet, a workbench, the pendant lights, a sink, the column drill press and a lot more. Everything in bright yellow of course. Remarkable the American flag hanged on the wall and the electrical outlets and conduits. What about the surfboard displayed on the wall? The exterior is enjoyable and it features many details. The two rolling shutters and the electricity poles are the ones I prefer. To complete the work I've built the well known and famous MOON pick-up, a ’68 Ford F100, and a Hot Rod based on a ’32 Ford model B. More info and pictures on my flickr. Thanks for stopping by.
  6. My latest modular is a townhouse with a shop of the first floor. There is no interior for this one yet. I have a few modular buildings in the works and I don't know when I'll get back to this one to fill out the interior. I'm thinking of making it an Optometrist office, but I'd be interested in hearing if you have a better idea! :) Close ups of the shop and balcony: And here it is next to my candy stop for comparison: Thanks for looking! I'll post again when I have an interior.... one of these days.
  7. Looking for a ornament for the tree or a unique gift? Here is my entry for this year's Winter Village contest... a Glass Blower's Shop. The Glass Blower is showing off his skills for the village kids. The interior is a shop on the first floor with living space above: The interior of the workshop features a light brick in the furnace. Thanks for looking!

    [MOC] Half Modular Jewelry Store!

Here's one of my smaller MOCs, the Half Modular Jewelry Store! I originally made this as a glass shop, but then I realized that not many people would recognize a glass shop and so I converted the downstairs area into a pretty jewelry store. This building has an elevator on the side and is compatible with all the regular Modular buildings. The upstairs is an apartment with a large kitchen and chandelier, and the roof features a garden! Here is the Flickr page for this MOC: https://www.flickr.com/photos/150692089@N03/albums/72157676732056872 Please tell me what you think!

[ MOC ] The Grand Mall

Hi everyone, just a few days before 2017 arrives and I managed to get this building done! As the economy of V City (my LEGO world) is going strong, the old Grand Emporium needs an upgrade too. Unlike many people who would buy more of the set and stack the stories up, I took a different approach from an architect's point of view. I got the inspiration from the book shelf of mine, and thought what if I added more books to the shelf? I would push the books aside and insert the new ones. And I got the idea for the new annex of the department store. The new building is just like new blocks inserted into the old one, and the expansion is not merely an increase of volume or floor area, but also a re-establishment of the icon. The new shop becomes a new landmark in the city (again). The design is clearly an insertion, but not invasion of the old. The new wing has a larger entrance, while the old revolving door is still kept. Let's start with the G/F. This floor is the supermarket, with one side having a double-volume space. You can also see that I kept some iconic features from the old emporium, namely the gift deco and escalators. All these link to the old memories... There is also a little information counter, if you are lost or if you have lost something. Going up to 1/F is the kitchenware section, and you can find the fashion section next to it. Wait, is that...Scarlet Witch? Further up is the 2/F kid section, with a fully stocked LEGO shelf! You can also find other toys here. The other side of the kid section is a book section. Mums can play with their kids too there. Snack corner is near the escalator, while you can find the restroom too. The roof originally was not used for anything (or a rest area for the window cleaners?), but after the renovation, you can enjoy a drink at the sky bar. Sometimes you can find the Avengers too. The model is also "slice-able", as you can open it up to reveal all the different sections inside. So the new Grand Mall is in business, and you can start getting some new things for the new year. Enjoy!

Graphics & Renders By Gabriele Zannotti (https://www.flickr.com/photos/137478436@N07) 2016 marks the 25th anniversary of The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop’s first appearance in the twenty-first episode of show’s second season on May 9th, 1991 titled Three Men and a Comic Book. This year The Simpsons theme has taken what I assume is a break therefore I found an opportunity to create the next model that would succeed 2015’s 71016 - Kwik-E-Mart. With superheroes and pop culture being a primary aspect of LEGO's relationship with many well-known IP's I found Android's Dungeon to be a worthy fit with the theme. The Android's Dungeon & Baseball Card Shop by Adeel Zubair, on Flickr This highly detailed and iconic model of The Simpsons store is packed with rich, colourful details! Walk under the huge Android's Dungeon sign and join Bart, Millhouse and Martin as they browse the shelves filled with comics, collectibles, toys and more – including: Radioactive Man #1, 10182 - Café Corner, Itchy, Scratchy, Poochie figurines, Perky Patty's Princess Shop, Grand Theft Scratchy - Video Game, Malibu Stacy Doll, Star Wars (1977) - VHS, C3PO Bust and many more! This fantastic model includes 6 Minifigures: Homer Simpson, Bart Simpson, Marge Simpson, Comic Book Guy, Milhouse Van Houten, Martin Prince and Radioactive Man. [MOC] "Workshop" House

Hi all, I'm mainly a train guy, but I have a mild interest in architecture and an opinion on what I want in building design. This year I decided that I would build a house for our LUG's annual Christmas show, and of course it took me basically the whole year to design and build something I liked. I actually started with three design "concepts" that I felt were worth trying to implement: "open" house, "indoor-outdoor" house, and "workshop" house (this one). I won't say much about the former two since I may still want to build them in the future, but workshop eventually won because I had more issues shrinking the other two (more on that in a bit). The concept behind the workshop house is simple: the bottom floor is entirely workspace and the second floor is entirely living space. That's it. I build scale models for my trains, so I originally intended to make a scale model for this house, but it very quickly became apparent that a scale model would be really, really big, even after I reduced the scope (fewer rooms) of the design. It was only on the third revision that I finally decided to make it more of an "architectural concept" than a scale model, and tried to design it with the same level of fidelity as say a Creator or Modular building. And that's the one I actually built. In this design I also tried to manifest some themes I'm indirectly interested in exploring: the contrast between old and new, open floorplans, and the inclusion/intrusion of nature. For example, the workshop section of the house is built to suggest brick, something very heavy, while the top is designed to look more modern, something more light. The kitchen/dining room/living room are all in the same space, and the only private sections are a bathroom and bedroom. Finally the workshop has wide sliding doors on both ends such that it can essentially be transformed into an outdoor space. Finally, because I was looking at Creator sets for inspiration, the house also folds open down the center. I'm not sure how much play value there is in a thing like this, but at least you can see inside. Looking at the furnishings I can elaborate what I meant when I said "architectural concept" vs "scale model": in this house there isn't explicitly all the things you would need to make it livable, which is what allows to not be huge. There isn't like a shower or a kitchen sink or a refrigerator, rather there is a suggestion that there is a bathroom and a kitchen in their respective locations. Most of the furniture is stolen from official sets. I'm really not into furniture as much as the building-level idea. Those doors aren't really supposed to be clear, but I couldn't find anything opaque, and I wanted viewers to be able to look into the rooms. Finally there is a laundry room on the roof and an opening thing that was supposed to be a skylight (you can see it in the LDD model), but the old skylight piece turned out to be very hard to get. I think that's everything I have to add; there is of course a full gallery if it ever gets moderated, and if you are in the SF Bay Area you can see the house for yourself at the BayLUG Christmas display.

    New shop (but old modular)

Hi! I could have said that every modular I build isn't completely "finished", but I can modify it if I don't feel satisfied anymore and/or I find some inspirating pictures on the net. I have this old modular I never liked very much, so... I've added a shop, this way: I haven't decided what type of shop, if pharmacy, bookstore or antique shop. Ideas and suggestions are welcome :) (of course even this isn't the final version... ) Seeya!

    Miami Surfshop [Moc]

Hello everyone, today i want you to show my latest creation. I call it "Miami Surf Shop". ;) I tried to create a modern style Miami building, inspired by some pictures i found on Google. Surfing is one of my personal intrests and so i combined it with one of my other intrests "Lego". http://bob-leonard-florida.com/floridanabob/VeniceB.jpg http://bob-leonard-florida.com/floridanabob/VeniceA.jpg I's not the first Lego surf shop, but i hope, a nice one. Some details: Parts: 1740 mostly Created on Lego Designer 4.3 and all parts ordered on Bricklink. It takes 13 orders to complete the parts.

[ MOC ] Modular Disney Store

The first shop along the main street of V City is a small one with a big name. The new Disney Store offers different products of its several franchises, including PIXAR and Star Wars. The client (of course I am making this up) wants a small modern building, but contains some essence of its brand. Undoubtedly the castle becomes the starting point for my design brainstorming session. My initial idea is a little box with a castle, and I began to break down the important elements from the castle to form the design language. I converted the moat into the planters by the sides of the entrance, and created a frame to signify a portal to the magical worlds. That can be seen from some castles where you will have a big portal at the bridge across the moat. The facade profile of the building comes from the two side towers above, and I only extracted the cut-corner shape. This slightly chamfered entrance also helps the portal stand out better. The building interior is simple, and is divided into several themes. First it is the Star Wars zone, where guests can find a lot of Star Wars toy and apparels. You can also design your own lightsaber at the “Build Your Own Lightsaber” shelf, and I made reference from the existing shops in Disneyland. Another side is the traditional Disney products, from traditional Disney stories. You can find girl items and dolls (you may ask about teddy bear, and yes Disney has one called Duffy and Shelliemay!), and also some cups and bottles. The deco is simple with wood planks, with the famous clock of Cinderella. Up the stairs will be 1/F, where you are greeted by the Toy Story shelf and the Lightyear figure. You can try the 3-eye Alien headpiece! Turning around is the much anticipated Frozen shelf, with all the icy items you can purchase! See that girl who is in love with the Snowgie cushions? You can also meet Elsa, Anna and Olaf and take pictures with them! Then you will see the little food corner, facing the staircase to the roof top. I spent quite some time to work out the fixtures, and I am happy that they look very much like the real thing inside Disneyland. The roof is a little green playground for kids, and you can meet the two iconic characters of Disney, Mickey and Minnie! Kids are queuing up to take great pictures with them, and later you will see even more other characters around the year. While I can design a simple hinged door on the rooftop, I created this version so that the panel can be folded up once more to avoid visual intrusion (if it is one big panel, it will stand up and be seen behind the tower on the front elevation! Not good!) Of course, I need a photo with my wife, Mickey and Minnie! Let's have a group photo, all the Disney characters with the shop! (okay, Buzz forgot to come out as he is still inside on the 1/F!) Hope you all enjoy it!

    Ellena's Bakery

Another contribution to the Ye Old Merry Battleground display. I had a lot of fun with this build, using tan and dark bley together, along with the red and dark red as accents. It seemed to fit Kaliphlin well, so here it is. I'll be posting my other YOMB builds in the Historic Themes soon. Ellena’s bakery is well known for her delicious pies, breads, and other baked goods. "Well good evening Zia," Ellena said as she set aside her rolling pin. "It is a peaceful night, a nice change from the recent wars and uprisings in the land. But I didn't come here to discuss politics, I wanted to buy 2 loaves of bread and a tray of cookies." "Certainly!" Ellena replied, "I have some that still warm, here you are." "Thank you! I will likely be back tomorrow to pick up some tarts." Zia said, as she paid for the food. "You're welcome to stop by anytime, good night." More pictures on brickbuilt. Thanks for looking
  18. I haven't had much time for building this year so I'm going to declare my London-style hat shop done (even though it still needs some work here and there). I'm posting it and adding it to my modular street. The first floor is hat shop. The black tiles on the sides are chalkboards for daily advertisements. I may create stickers for these in the future. Right now there is a sale on pith helmets (which are wonderfully stackable). You can't really see in this photo but the mirror piece from the detective office is built into the dresser with the clock. Upstairs is a small apartment with a bedroom loft reached by ladder. Thanks for looking! More photos can be seen on flickr.

Lego Facade only 6 studs wide

Lego Facade, all this is only six studs wide! and has a brick count of less than just one modular building,The idea behind this model is to allow collectors who struggle with space for the large modular buildings to display this with ease on any standard shelf. with a brick count of less than one normal modular build you get three,There is the hardware store with tools for sale,a hat shop just in case your mini figures want a new look, and last but not least a fish store for all your pet fish needs,be careful tho the contractors tearing up the walk way. All the stores have goodies inside to play with and a few secrets to discover as well ? This model would be ideal for people on a budget, with limited space, or have a gap that needs filling in there Lego city.also ideal as a standalone set.more details on Lego Ideas

    Winter Village: Village Shop

Every Village needs a local shop where they can buy snow shoes or get spare keys cut or a trophy engraved. This maybe the first actual town model I've build, and it became clear halfway through that I don't have a whole lot of house type bricks, like doors or windows, which is why it is maybe a bit small. There are a few other pictures on my flickr page.

    [MOC] Modular Toy Shop!

Here is a MOC I finished recently: a Modular Toy Shop. I put it up for voting to become a Lego Set, but it isn't faring well. What do you guys think of it?

    LEGO Early Discontinuation?

I have noticed that when I visited LEGO's shop@home to buy the Phantom set, it was discontinued, then I looked at a set released later on, the Wookiee Gunship, also discontinued. Is lego discontinuing sets early now?.
