    [MOC] School Bus

Hello Speed Champions and City fans, It was my entry to Bricklink Designer Program Series 3 and 4. It has received many kind comments and support, but unfortunately it has not been selected, therefore I decided to make the instructions available here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-177592/_TLG_/school-bus I always loved American style school buses, therefore I decided to design one to Bricklink Designer Program Series 3. It is not actually based on a real one, but it contains many typical details: the black bumper rails and STOP arms on the sides, the crossing arm, the side and rear doors, the rearview and crossover mirrors, the mudguards, the warning lights etc.. The roof assembly can be removed as one piece and in this case the internal details are visible: there is a driver seat with steering wheel, dashboard, gear shift, passenger seats and even a fire extinguisher. It is 8 studs wide, studless build in minifigure scale and fits perfectly to Speed Champions cars or to a LEGO City. There are many working details: the front and rear doors, the STOP arms, the crossing arm and windshield wipers. I wanted to create a clean build and tried to fill every unnecessary gaps and hide unnecessary studs, therefore some tricky, but legal build techniques are used. The set includes three minifigures: a driver, a school girl with a pen and backpack and a school boy with a brick built backpack. The model has space for 17 minifigures: one driver and 16 passengers. If the passengers are kids with short, rigid legs, then they can stand on the seats. The building instructions guidelines have been followed. It is built from the palette "BDP Series 3", so there are some color and part restrictions. The color "Bright Light Orange" would be a bit more authentic, but the available parts are restricted, therefore I decided to use "Yellow" and I am satisfied with the result. The STOP sign is very rare part and it is not available in this palette, therefore it is replaced by a simple, white, circular sign with a sticker. The door 43967 is also not available in yellow, therefore it is replaced by a brick built one, however, in this case I was able to add some extra details: a black door handle, bottom window and red lights. I hope you like my design, I appreciate any feedback. 2. Hey there! I'm in the middle of working on a large project for school - one where we're almost completely free to do whatever we want for it. I've chosen to develop an all-encompassing and ideal design for animal-, UV- and dust-protected customisable and situation-adjustable LEGO collection shelves for optimal displaying of sets and models in an aesthetically pleasing and space-efficient way. I'd certainly appreciate it if you took the time to fill it out for me, as I'll need data from the target audience in order to make and refine the best possible design for everybody. https://forms.office.com/r/Lur7XaqnhE (If some of the wording doesn't seem right in this, please note that this is just a copy-pasted message that hasn't been context-adjusted.) (Side note: the project is merely to develop the design, and no shelves are actually being sold here.)
  3. I remade my magic school bus model into a school bus from an older time period (the 1940's) and I think I like this version better. There are some anachronisms (such as the swinging stop sign arm) that didn't exist on school buses in the '40s, but I am using Modular Building / Winter Village logic here: old fashioned vehicles and buildings, with some modern features strewn about when needed. Like many of my vehicle models the roof does not come off to get at the inside details, but then again, there aren't much in the way of details in there anyway. (Yes, the stop sign is printed wonky. There is nothing I can do about it.) Thoughts?
  4. (Moderators: I put this in Town, because at it's heart, this is a simple MOD of a Town set, and looks like a completely normal bus anyway. If it went to licensed, it would be out of place. Just a thought!) I tried using the upcoming Moving Truck (set 40586) girft with purchase to make the Magic School Bus from the TV show / books of the same name, as I loved them as a kid. Credit is also due to @R0Sch for his recreation of set 40586 for the inspiration to do this... without his clear rendered pictures, I would have never though of doing this. You can see his fantastic recreation in the discussion topic about the GWP. ...and now as Ms. Frizzle always says: "To the BUS!" I had to lessen the amount of windows by one row, and I removed the rear emergency exit door for simplicity. Speaking of doors, I wish LEGO had a smaller, doubled version of the size of door I currently am using. (like the new bigger 1x6x6 version that just came out, but for this 1x4x6 size frame) It just looks weird to have a regular door on a bus! The moving stop sign is an addition of mine, as it is unclear if it's on the actual bus from the cartoons / books. As a matter of fact, I can only think of a scant handful of times I've seen this side of the bus in the show! The titular vehicle from the original (and best!) "Magic School Bus" TV show, along with the original inspiring books as reference image. It's not a perfect match, but it's close enough for me. ...and before anyone asks: I can't possibly make Ms. Frizzle into a mini-figure to drive this bus: I could never do her unique sense of fashion justice! That's about all I have on this MOC. Aren't you glad you didn't stay home from school today? Any and all thoughts would be appreciated on this model!

    MOD: 60329 School Day

I made several changes to the school and the school bus. Added some walls to the right side of the school building and a roof. For the school bus, I removed the wheelchair lift as it made the bus look weird. Don't get me wrong, I have great respect and support for the handicapped. I just feel that it wasn't executed properly there. There was barely any room for the students. I decided to add an extra seat there instead. I also changed the wheel arches and recolored the sign to yellow and bumpers to black to closely resembled an American styles school bus. I customized it with my favorite school bus model, the Chevrolet B-Series with a Blue Bird bus body, in mind. Those things had power to spare. My sigfig drives the bus in this set.

  7. Do you love LEGO? If not then why are you here?!? Do you love science? If the answer is yes then read on. In 2018 I published the book Particle Physics Brick by Brick which used basic bricks to explain complex science. I have loved delivering workshops throughout the UK using LEGO to bring my former field of research, particle physics, to life. I just wanted to share the book with you in case it is something you might be interested in. I have also recently started making explainer videos using the ideas in the book which I am regularly posting to YouTube. If your interest crossover both the worlds of LEGO and Physics I'd love to know what you think of the videos. If you are teacher or student I have made some educational resources to accompany the book as well - all information can be found at bit.ly/LEGOPhysics
  8. Hi everybody, This my new moc, my modular version of an highschool. I Took my inspiration from the university of coimbra, in portugal. 10. Dear AFOLs, for once I have left my usual train theme and tried something different – I designed and built a model of my working place, the largest school in my home town. In fact, the model is intended as a farewell gift for a dear colleague, for she leaves to face new tasks. It is in approximate 1:625 scale, consists of ca. 1.500 parts and is built on a 48x48 base plate. Here are the pictures: Higher resolution images are available on my Bricksafe account. Thanks for stopping by! Sven
  11. Military Academy QV14.1 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Shortly after watching the spectacle on the parade route, Nathaniel made his way the nearby military academy. It was built in the same style as the military barracks and looked relatively new, which was confirmed by the 617 above the large front doors. QV14.2 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr Captain Brickford was just in time to listen to a lecture on military strategy. It was being given by the headmaster, who looked as if he knew exactly what he was talking about. QV14.3 by LM71Blackbird, on Flickr The cadets were listening attentively to the words of the headmaster, if then didn't they would probably quickly be brought back in line. Dear Captain Jno. Cooke, RN, I have found out that a military academy has been built in Quinnsville quite recently. The very first graduating class was just last week. The building is quite nice, and from the lectures I sat in on, the cadets are being taught the latest tactics in military strategy. I have only a few stops left in my assessment of the defenses of Quinnsville, and then I will assist my father in his duties as well. Our final report on Quinnsville shouldn't be too much longer. In service to her Majesty, Captain Nathaniel Brickford, Military Attaché to Quinnsville This will be a large educational property for Quinnsville. I built it in the same style as my military barracks so I think it fits really nicely. C&C are welcome and appreciated and thanks for looking!
  12. This was a fun little build. Even though it was not totally custom as I used much of the architectural details of the Friends set, I still think it turned out nice. I always thought the orginal set was boring, but it still has some nice details that should be used in a set. So when the set went on sale, I bought two of them (it took quite a few additional bricks as well) and put this together. If I aqure some more windows, I make try to expand it, but for now, I like the size. It will fit into my city nice. So if you are interested here is a video and some pics. Any feedback is appreciated!

    [MOC]: Winterfield Academy

Welcome to Winterfield Academy, the premier arts academy for all of your minifigs! Governed by Headmistress Elba Rieter, this academy specializes in the arts! The first floor includes a grand entrance hall with front desk and a platform for a train station (Behind the school are tracks on which the Orient Express can arrive). The first floor also contains the dining hall, a trophy room, and the grand spiral staircase that ascends three stories. The second story includes a large choir classroom, a picture-lined hallway, a store closet that I'll soon be converting into a lavatory, and Headmistress Rieter's office. And the third floor/roof contains a ballet/dance studio and classroom, as well as a large portion that I haven't decided what to do with yet. But I think it's going to end up being the dormitory. I'm also planning on possibly doing a stop motion video series set around one of my mini figures encountering mystery and murder at the school! So we'll see how that goes. This MOC is also up on LEGO Ideas gathering support! If you wish please go support it! I'm including the link here. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/c3ebdf4f-1c75-435e-b09b-3f23788b535a Any ideas for the third floor, suggestions, comments on this MOC are much appreciated, thank you! :)
  14. Hi! I want to share with you my last Western MOC - School . This is my first western creation where I used cheese bricks for façade. My personal opinion, these cheese bricks look much better than altern for this, using plates and tiles for hut imitation. School bell: Here is interior with all necessary like board, benches, furnace and, of course, canes

    [MOC] Bricksfield Public Elementary School

Here's my upcoming MOC, the Public Elementary School! With the Roman History Museum and the Fountain, this is going to complete my central city square..It contains 3090 bricks. Let me know what you think! P.S. If someone were interested in building this, you can check it out HERE
  16. Arthur Kellogg has put together some of the WETEC's best soccer players to enter into the New Terra Soccer Cup. Granted there are not a lot of soccer players among the WETEC as a new sport is taking hold, but there are still several. Thus he feels that he has put together a good enough team to make the WETEC proud. As they wait for the games to start, Arthur and several of the players decided to go see one of Trador's schools as all good Corrington minifigs would love to do. Education after all is the most paramount issue. Upon following the directions they received from the perplexed innkeeper, they have arrived at the school building at the end of a street of buildings. They were a little surprised to see the one of the pupils on recess busy selling candy for a profit. As the captain of the team noted, "The Eslandola spirit must be born into them. They do indeed start young." A little different angle: Note: This is licensed as a small education building. I attempted to mimic the style presented on the Merchant's Quay, which is why I left the roof studs exposed and only why one side of the building is visible. (The other side would be connected to an adjoining building.)
  17. As a man of its word, Lord Maximilian Damaximus sent some workers to New Haven as well to help developping the new Haven for refugees. As the housing projects started to turn out very colourfull, the architect continued this style and designed a school and an inn for New Haven. The school, in the red, was very much needed to keep giving chances to the refugees and to teach them the laws of Corrington. After a hard day of study and much information, the citizens can take a break in the Blues Inn next door. --- Property can be licenced by Corrington as a small education and a small artisan. --- This was a fun build :)

    [MOC] Classroom

Yes, a classroom is the place for learning! Even though learning could be anywhere. I created an LEGO interior scene of classroom, this model is at minifig-scale. This model was mainly inspired by LegoJalex’s Classroom. Since that is a big built, I tried to make it small and more simple. Classroom by Kamal Muftie Yafi, on Flickr I used a unique technique to make the four-legged chair. I forgot where I got that chair design. If you know, please put a link in the comment, I just want to credit the builder.
  19. The devastation Mardier left behind did not only leave the remaining citizens without housing and infrastructure. They even burned most of the crops. There were always fish and lemons, but in order to feed everyone it was dire need of some potatoes and a sprig of parsley. The WGO (White Glove Order) took this important task head on and restored one of burnt out war factories Mardier left behind. It should serve a new role. To bring the people knowledge of the earth and how to make the most nutritious fruits and vegetables. As a result The Instituto de Superior Agronomia (Agriculture School - small cultural microbuild license) was founded in Puerto Desafio. Isla de Victoria would not only become self sufficient, it would be an important resupply haven in the Prio Seas
  20. Seminaire de Breshaun by Brandon Stark, on Flickr Before returning to Dragonstone, Brandon plans to visit a few more sites in Breshaun, which has seen significant growth since he last visited over a year ago. One of these sites is the Seminaire de Breshaun, located close to the Temple of Zeus. Funded by Brandon with support from the Order, the seminary is a testament to the Order's growing power in the colonies, allowing it to train new priests in the colonies for missions, rather than sending priests over from the mainland. The Seminary's style to similar to those of Dragonstone, since Brandon was the one who funded its construction, but its materials are similar to that of most buildings in Breshaun. It is currently home to a small but growing number of priests in training, and because of the growing numbers, the Order is planning to buy a larger property nearby. The Seminary is also home to two priests of Zeus and Poseidon each, and also one priest of Hades, who educates the priests in training on the darker side of the Order. So this build was supposed to be for Dragonstone, but Breshaun needed properties and so it got a seminary. The style of this one is actually based off of the Seminaire de Quebec in Vieux Quebec that I visited last year in Quebec City, Canada, though the Seminaire de Quebec is much bigger.
  21. This is a promo video for the agricultural Agricultural Power and Equipment Technician program at WITC (Wisconsin Indianhead Technical College). This was made as a college assignment, but I ran short on time so it is not quite as complete as I had wanted it. So I already am aware of the lack of actual animation and the lengthy still shots. This was the first time we had touched LEGO stopmotion in almost two years, it was fun to have a reason to do something again.
  22. Acropolis Education by Brandon Stark, on Flickr The School of Acropolis is a new addition to the city, founded by a group of Order clerics from the Old World. Looking to spread and maintain the Order in the New World, the Order founded the School of Acropolis. While the School's main goal was to prepare young boys to become Order clerics, the School now accommodates all children of Acropolis, giving them an education in reading, writing, arithmetic, and history, among other subjects, with an emphasis on the Order. The school has around five small classrooms, and is able to accommodate all the students of Acropolis, since the settlement is still small. With the rise of newcomers from the Old World, the Order has begun construction of a larger school in Acropolis. The School of Acropolis is run by 6 clerics, three Clerics of Zeus, and three Clerics of Poseidon. There is no Cleric of Hades arrived yet from the Old World, and none is expected.
  23. King's Harbour was growing rapidly, and many of the soldiers, sailors and merchants had started bringing in their wives, and with their wives came their children as well. And while initially some of the kids, in highly un-Corlander fashion, enjoyed not having to go to school, the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy quickly remedied this. While the city administration donated a large plot of land in the planned residential areas, the Royal Society has constructed a large school building, and will be sponsoring it going forward. Ensuring education for the young is an important objective of the Society, to ensure that the scientists of tomorrow are groomed from a young age. Winston Fitzherbert the 3rd, fellow of the Society, will be schoolmaster for the children of King's Harbour, and his stern but fair teaching style is appreciated widely amongst both kids and parents. Just now, the kids are arriving for the first day of teaching, being welcomed by the schoolmaster and the groundskeeper. A few of the kids are running late, rushing not to be reprimanded by their new schoolmaster. On the first floor, the classroom is located. Below the classroom, a large library and study houses activities of more advanced students and fellows of the Society, and in the sidewing, an archive is to hold records and specimens collected by various expeditions for further study. Additionally, the groundskeeper has a small house by the gate, awarded for long services as assistant to a fellow of the Society. _____________________________________________________________ Large educational facility for King's Harbour, which will be licensed by the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy. C&C welcome.
