  1. The Cuboid Castle that Samuel Marron has visited is probably worth a few additional pictures It was probably not my best idea to shoot a grey castle against a grey background... This is where Samuel Marron goes to seek for further support in the battle agains Ravaage. Inspired by La Sagrada Familia I had build two differently coloured glass windows. one blueish - one reddish C&C Welcome, pictures to be found on my flickr album.
  2. "So", said Captain Mitgardia, "let's hear your story." Samuel Marron put down his glass of beer and slowly began to tell his tale - how he met the new King. It was in the dark days before our victory over the Spire. I had orders to deliver a letter to the Desert King. One night I was ambushed... Skeleton warriors had killed my horse and as I was preparing to fight I had almost overlooked the second attacker. Moving towards Kaliphlin I arrived at a Cuboid Castle. ... and so our plan began to take shape. I was sent to meet the Desert King... ... who was supervising the construction of our key weapon, designed by Abdul Trojan: a giant wooden camel with space inside for a small army: "And that is where you met the New King?" Captain Mitgardia interrupted. "No, that was later. After the battle." "The Battle of Two-Finger-Mountain?" "Yes mate." The battle was intense and terrible. We were facing the Spire's elite troops and things did not look good. Although we were fighting as one - the finest warriors of Historica united - we were outnumbered and about to lose. So we had to retreat. Raavage himself, surrounded by his elite warriors approached our wooden camel and claimed the victory for himself. With the guild's forces dispelled he gave a speech to his victorious troops about how cowardly we were and that he was about to ruin our plan. Because he thought that he knew everything about Trojan's camel. He expected it to be filled with skilled warriors that were destined to kill Raavage. So his best warriors closed in on the camel. But there was one thing Raavage was not able to. He could not pay attention to details. Well, it is usually difficult in the heat of battle to point out fine details like "Oh, look, that Orc has got a nice helmet" -"The one with the bronze applications?" - "Yes, quite nice, isn't it". That usually does not happen. And Raavage had missed a detail. .. a burning fuse hanging from the camel's mouth. The explosion of the Barqan Fire exterminated Raavage and the core of his army. I watched the explosion from a safe distance - it was catastrophic for the Spire. Our plan and the faked fallback had worked well. Our troops engaged again and we pursued the remainders of Raavage's army until there was no-one left alive. It was then, after our victory, when I met the New King. He came towards me, accompanied by his guards... ... and I bowed and bent my knee. And he thanked me. I felt so honoured. "A toast to the New King", Captain Mitgardia shouted! "All hail to King Emmet I." both cried, raising their glasses. But there was something, Samuel Marron had not been able to tell his friend. It was about the private conversation he had had with the King after the battle. "Samuel", the King said, "you have proven your loyalty to me. And your courage. I will tell you a secret. You will not forget it but find yourself unable to talk about it. I am a chosen one. I am in the possession of powers that allow me to excite loyalty in others so they will follow me. I cannot make them stronger or braver, but they will follow me. Like you do. When I started on this journey I went to the Desert King, asking for an audience. I made him one of my first followers. With his army on my side it was easier to put up a plan against Raavage and his troops. You have helped me to get the support of Mitgardia and Avalonia. I am very thankful for that and this is why I am telling you my secret. Now you will keep it to yourself." Samuel drank a sip from his beer and mused. What will the future be like, now that Historica is united under King Emmet I? Will he be a kind ruler given that his subjects will be of utter loyalty to him? Will he have enemies? Was Raavage really killed in the explosion? So, this is my "big entry" for Category C with lots of scenes, pictures, action, etc. It took quite a while in preparation. I am happy that I was able to include the Cat A + B MOCs into the story. I hope you like it!
  3. ... let's celebrate! The Algus have turned into the "melted beyond". Celebrations throughout Mitgardia continue. Duke Fasel and the Duchess Faseline (right) are celebrating the famous magic rabbit gloves that allow thaumaturgical control of the Mitgardian Dragon (left). Rabbit supporters and friends have been invited. (The story so far) ... and Colonel Samuel Marron appears with flowers as the special guest of the evening! The Algus Saga - The Victory Party

The Algus have been defeated. Time for happiness and a victory party! Hosted by Duke Fasel, the party was a huge success. The Kaliphlinnian support was well remembered. A splendid time for all. All the best for 2016!
  5. This is a prequel to the final battle with the Algus and the MOC explains how the Mitgardians came into possession of the Rainbow Spell. On the basis of good diplomatic connections a messenger from the South brought a surprise... It was a scroll. A magic spell. A spell that would work against creatures of the cold. Called "The Rainbow Spell". Suddenly there was hope! In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 8 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  6. Victory is ours! Long and hard was the fight against the Algus. Many different ways were conceived to beat them but none really worked totally well - until today. Until Samuel Marron realized that all the different tactics had to be combined! You need the fire of the Mitgardian Dragon.... ("I love the smell of dragon fire in the morning") ... guided by magic rabbit gloves... ... with the helpful addition of burning Kaliphlinian oil... .. the magic of the Rainbow Spell ... .. and the freshness of the Mitgardian apple barrage... .. to defeat the Algus! And so it came that in the Battle of Green Field the Algus were utterly destroyed. None of them escaped. Under the force of the combined Mitgardian attack the power of the Algus waned, the cold disappeared, their snow melted, their bodies dissolved. So, the weather forecast was bad ... for the Algus. The End. Larger versions on flickr. There is a prequel showing where the Rainbow Spell came from. And there is a sequel showing the victory party. C&C welcome! One addition: As we have to show how the Algus change the weather, here is "WALK LIKE AN ALGUSSIAN": In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 9 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now! 10) The Victory Party
  7. The Battle for Red Brick Castle: The Algus are attacking deep in the South of Mitgardia ... and water does not stop them: Their freezing spells bring ice and snow - and soon they charge! Some defenders are scared... ... but the Mitgardian mage is fighting the ice with fire: And Major Marron is leading his men and heroes into the battle: ... and the fight against the Algus goes on... More pictures can be found on flickr. (Maybe you can spot some rabbit gloves. ) C&C welcome! In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 6 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  8. Captain Braunsfeld

The Algus Saga - Help from a Nobleman

In their quest to find ways to fight the Algus, Major Marron and Colonel Upright are allowed to meet Duke Fasel. "Let me do the talking", Upright hissed to Marron. "This is an important audience. This great lord will give us guidance. Don't mess it up." Marron sighed and stayed silent. Upright cleared his throat: "Your highness! Our forces are fighting the terrible Algus. Those icy creatures from the North that have invaded our lands. We are in dire need of support." Duke Fasel looked at them, seemingly gazing at something behind the two men, somewhere in the distance. There was a pause. "This fine leader, this higher being will give us something that will help us crush the Algus", Upright whispered to Major Marron. "Just be quiet. This Duke has higher insights than simple beings like us." Marron sighed and stayed silent. Upright raised his voice again: "Your highness, we, who are not worthy, kindly ask for your help. With all your wisdom, might and courage - grant us help in our battle against the icy deathbringers." Duke Fasel looked at them and then began to speak. Slowly, in a slightly high-pitched voice. "We think that We have something for you that will change your fate in battle." The Duke turned to rummage in a nearby golden chest. "Ah, here they are" "My rabbit gloves. Excellent against the cold. Take them, good man, and win the war for Us. Who was it against, you said?" Marron sighed and stayed silent. In the "Captain Braunsfeld's part of the Algus Saga" you are here: Part 4 1) The Beacon of Bruns Fall 2) Defending the North 3) Southern Comfort 4) Help from a Nobleman 5) Two Minor Victories 6) Water does not stop them! 7) What's that coming over the hill? 8) Where the Rainbow Spell came from 9) AppleCalypse Now!
  9. The renovation of the city watch headquarters has been completed: As for the gargoyles, classic dino/dragon design had been chosen. Major Marron and the architect: The basement (once a wine cellar) now consists of prison cells: Thanks for watching!
  10. The building in which Samuel Marron and his men had moved (New Home for the City Watch) was fine but a bit gloomy in parts. So it was decided to renovate the City Watch Headquarters. A well-known well-paid architect was called in to oversee the work: Many things needed to be changed... .. but most importantly, Major Marron had to decide how to replace the existing gargoyles. Local craftsmen had prepared several promising suggestions: They were of such high quality that it was very difficult to choose. As you can see in the subsequent MOC (which was posted earlier) Marron made a good decision (The Algus Saga: The Beacon of Bruns Fall) C&C welcome.
