    MOC: Visit the Riviera

Hello fellow Eurobricks members, I've been working on my latest MOC the last few weeks - 'Visit the RIVIERA'. A MOC based around a marina with a southern European influence. There is a small wedding shop, a bell tower, and restaurant on the ground floor with tables outside around the marina where fishermen bring in their catches. A previous European styled MOC - Piazza Maria had bright colour combinations and perfect smooth rendering on the buildings so this was an excuse for me to try my hand at something that looked a little more weathered! Anyway on with the pics, 6 in total: You can also view them on flickr here: https://www.flickr.c...s/52656812@N04/ Any comments/feedback welcomed! Cheers!

    [MOC] 50's Style American Diner

I built this little diner to fit into my Modular town. It occupies a single base plate and can serve as an end cap to a row of buildings, but has facades on three sides. To date, this is one of my favorite builds. A little close-up of the marquee: Ground level view of the restaurant: A little profile shot: And then the top came off! Plenty of seating inside: Hamburger, fries, milkshake, or a fresh slice of pie today? The staff is always friendly and helpful. There's always a hoppin' tune playing on the jukebox. Situated in a busy area of town: Thanks for looking! You can see additional pictures (with more details) in my Flickr gallery!

    MOC: The Ocean Restaurant

Hi everyone, My latest moc is called The Ocean restaurant and is inspired by Miami's south beach area. I felt some of my ealiest attempts on the style didn't do it justice. I thought a 1 storey building wouldn't be as time-consuming as some of my more recent buildings much larger in size which would allow me to concentrate more on the details and refinement. The exterior was done first and I wasn't originally going to do an interior but was persuaded to and I'm pleased I did as it turned out to be pretty fun designing. Anyway on with the pics - There's only 5 this time so i'll put them all in here These are all the pictures from this MOC, if you'd prefer to view them at flickr go here: https://www.flickr.c...s/52656812@N04/ Comments welcome!
  4. Hello everyone I think my layout is now at a stage that I can present it as a whole to the community. As you will see I have still some space to expand it and there are quite a few buildings that I wish to rebuild/redesign to make them better. My layout has a classic 80/90 inspiration and that's why most of the new sets I have are from the creator/expert line. here it is a video showing the whole layout with the trains and the new ferris wheel motorised: As you can notice from the video, since I love trains, a large parte of the table is covered by rails. There are three stations. 1) Legoland C.le (C.le stands for Centrale in italian, the main station) 2) another smaller station, located on the sea-side and near the vulcano called Lego Ville: and another station that serves the airport: The town centre of Legoland features a square with a Market, a Pizzeria, and a Carrousel, the ruins of ancient abbey, always crowded by visitors, the town-hall (the yellow-brown building) and - of course - a police station: There is a residential area, which is mostly restaurant and country-side with a small beach: The main Harbour of the town, with a bridge for the trains, and a restaurant in an ancient mill: Finally there is the city area, with two main tall buildings: well, there are more ideas to develop my city but I want to hear what do you think so far

  8. Previously I made a MOC modular building, a bank, which has a piece of land on its side waiting for construction. It was to be a restaurant and finally it is done! It is not a big one as it only takes half of the 32x32 plate, but it contains what all the Lego citizens' needs for food! This building is a break from the typical European style that prevails in the original Lego modular building sets. I think a city should be developing, advancing, and things change including building styles. I tried some new elements here, with a more open façade (basically removing the façade for balconies and setting back the entrance), while taking a cleaner approach on detailing. Quick overview with the bank on its side: Let's go inside now! The entrance on the G/F floor is set back a little for a bar area. This is where people gather at night especially on Fridays! I also try sliding doors for the entrance :) At the entrance, you will see a little fridge next to a green counter. On the other side is a cake rack. In the morning, there will be breads for those who want to grab a quick breakfast. 1/F is a restaurant. Utensils are stored neatly. Someone is celebrating her birthday with friends! Well that's a huge cake! The other half of 1/F is a balcony area for semi-open dining experience. Looks like someone is not pleased when serving a rich man... "Hey that's not the tips I am hoping for..." The top floor is also a restaurant area, with an open grill kitchen. Look at the hood! Now an overview with some of my modular buildings, which are easy to recognize. The building style is a little different but still, to me, harmonious with the others. Hope you all like this creation! Let me know if you have any comment on how I can improve this!
  9. A little urban renewal to transition the Detective Office part of town with the more classy modulars... my latest modular is "Chop", a small Asian fusion bistro in an Art Deco storefront. Oddly enough, I've wanted to use fish as an architectural element for a long time. 1st floor interior: Decorative wall panels. 2nd and 3rd floor feature a nice but somewhat cramped 2 bedroom aparment. Next to a couple of my other mocs. Thanks for looking! (Sorry the photography isn't great.)

    My collection of city MOCs

Hi everyone. Looking at all these amazing MOCs here at Eurobricks i decided to share my own. This is a collection of city MOCs that i designed over the past few years. All of these models are made in Lego Digital Designer, and are presented with pictures rendered using POV-Ray. I didn't make a lot of pictures as i'm sharing LDD files in which the models can be viewed entirely. Most of the buildings have roofs built in separate sections that can be removed (using "connected selection" tool) to see the interiors. Also note that because of the high brick count, that some of this models have, slower computers might have problems with opening those files. That's it for the introduction.. I hope to insipre people with my work just like i get inspired by others. MOC: Modular Curry Station

First real post of a MOC in the town forum, I present to you "トレイン カレー" or "Train Curry". This a a small restaurant inspired by the real life "Curry Station Niagara" in Yutenji, Tokyo where my girlfriend and I spent an extremely nice evening as the only customesr during the 2nd worst snowstorm to hit Tokyo this year. If you are ever in Tokyo, I highly recommend a visit as the Station Master (yes he really is one) is extremely friendly and your tasty curry is delivered by toy train. More info on the inspiration for this build can be found here: http://www.facebook....station.niagara So time for a tour. The outside Here you see the building from all sides, its a short blocky 2-story affair. It was built on a 16x16 plate, with a 4 stud overhang on the left side for the stairs to the 2nd floor and a 1 stud overhang for the frontage. It will sit into a 16x16 recess on my train layout, hence no street detail around the building in these shots. The reason for all the 1x1 headlight brick holes will become clear shortly. The sign on the front is my best attempt at brick built Katakana (Japanese alphabet used for western words). Really "train" should be "densha" not "to-re-i-n" however that would call for some Kanji (Chinese style characters) that just could not be realised in the space available. I was tempted to just build 'curry' in western script but thought I'd have a go like this first; let me know what you think! A close up of the steam engine front end in the bay window: I wish I had a window piece without the burger on, but I just cant bring myself to use the poleesh remover of naieel. I'm also hoping to find a better sign for the level crossing post. The inside Having never seen the upstairs of the building that served as inspiration, I settled for a generic small flat interior with compact bathroom (shower and toilet) and an open living area: It looks quite spacious as there is no bed (assume there is a futon stashed away somewhere) and no kitchen (but then there is already a restaurant downstairs, perhaps though I should MOC a rice cooker). The robot is there just because. The Restaurant I tried to pack the restaurant full of memorabilia, picking some key features from the real life inspiration such as the ticket machine where you order your meal, the train number plates all over the walls, the ticket window and station clock, and of course the toy train track around the room for curry delivery. Now you see the reason for all the 1x1 headlights; how I wish Pick a Brick sold 1x1 with stud on side in brown. If I ever get hold of some minifig roller-skates I will build a small train for making curry deliveries, but for now the track is empty. The ever happy station master talks to his patrons: Behind the white wall is a small stove for making curry, In reality there is a bathroom here and the building extends back further into a small kitchen. I had no room for such though (my layout has a train running directly behind the building with only 2 stud clearance). I also forgot to re-assemble the top of the wall for this shot! The right hand wall swings away providing a minifig's eye view: A final shot from behind the bar, a spare station master cap sits on the luggage rack for patrons to wear: And finally here it is in my layout: (see http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=95715 for more on the train layout itself) Thanks for taking the time to look at my MOC. Comments and suggestions welcome.
  18. I'd like to take you to another stop in my burgeoning modular LEGO city! Today's visit is to the Octopus Japanese Restaurant, where minifigs flock for authentic Asian cuisine! Here's Octopus! The torii and rock garden help to allure hungry diners to the restaurant. If you're in the mood for sushi or hibachi, you've arrived at the right place. Around back, we can see the open air dining area. A closeup view of the dining area in the back of the restaurant. Now for a look inside! Here's the ground floor. The sushi bar is to the right, with a casual dining area to the left. Another look at the ground floor. There's a sink in the prep area near the sushi bar, some decorative items on the wall, and a restroom under the stairs. One of the most alluring aspects of the ground floor is the large aquarium, dividing the sushi bar and table settings and giving the restaurant a calm atmosphere. There's even a light feature in the aquarium to further enhance the experience. Here's a look at the bathroom. It's a small space but it has what's necessary. But now, let's travel up the stairs to the next floor: The next level has two hibachi tables. The hibachi is very popular for large parties and business meetings. The chefs are very skilled and put on a highly entertaining show. To the right, another chef prepares food for preparation at the table. Some friends are enjoying sake and miso soup before their entree is served. Swinging doors separate the kitchen area from the patrons in the main dining area. And now, let's go up one final flight of stairs, which really picks up after hours: The top floor contains a karaoke bar and lounge! Patrons sing their hearts out to their favorite songs, but occasionally a professional entertainer puts on her kimono for a performance on selected nights. Dark curtains help keep an ambient vibe and another aquarium and flowers keep the patrons happy. And for musical accompaniment, a full sized piano sits on the stage. Our featured performer hopes you enjoyed your evening at Octopus! Check out more pictures on my Flickr page!

    MOC: Soup Kitchen/Flop House

My Lego Town is continuing it's economically downward trajectory with this addition of a Soup Kitchen/Flop House. It's in a run down part of town and it helps the locals who rely on it being open 24/7. Cheap wholesome food served hot! The facade is crumbling and there's some masonary in the sidewalk, the bricks are discolored (Yay for second hand bricks!), the drainpipes don't join in the middle, and the signwriters printer hasn't yet created a suitable sign ( ) From the rear Rickety steps leading up to the Flophouse entrance, the dumpster, and some graffiti artist admiring their work. Yep! It's a Banksy! Here's the ground floor Soda machine, bathroom, microwave, entrance lobby, bench seating, fully fitted kitchen - complete with big freezer, fridge, 6-ring burner, sink and storage. Wall mounted, large old-school TV tuned to a local station. Twin cup holders. Friendly service. The soda machine Upstairs the Flop House/Cheap Hotel Three bedrooms, one wash room, check in desk (complete with a dead rubber plant on top of some shelves). Here's the Soup Kitchen/Flop House next to my rundown Bar (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=79480) / Taco Truck (http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=77566) I hope you like it and criticisms/suggestions/comments are welcome!

    "Fish" Restaurant

Hello everybody, i'm now presenting you the MOC modular building "Fish Restaurant" It´s four stories high, and the pinnacle is tallest than the billboard of the Grand Emporium It´s my very first MOC I upload to this forum and the hole internet, it isn't my best but here it is the front of the building the man is fixing the sign, I don't trust on that doctor ok, now the first floor, which is a tunnel and the kitchen of the restaurant this tunnel will take to the back of the building, where the stairs are and the kitchen, as you can see, there isn't a fridge, but here is a stove, and a coffee server (now with chocolate and capuccino) I wonder how they do to mantain the food fresh? and finally the stairs Now, the second floor, which is the dinning room of the restaurant And they have a special guest: Patrick Star the doors are sliding doors Closed Open And the stairs And now the third floor, which is the bar It's a sports bar, perhaps they don't have a TV on this floor there is a special door in the bar, i hope you noted it, it's at the end of the bar at the principal avenue side and how to forget the stairs the last but not less important, the fourth floor, which is an apartment In the interior we have a clock, a TV, a glass table, one sofa, one couch (which i was based on another MOC i've founded here), a toilet, a bed, and a bicycle (yes, how they had lifted up here?) Can you found them all? and the back balcony (its on the third floor, don't forget it) and the pinnacle, at the top it's the blue diamond, placed at the center of the X & Z dimentions of the building (wide & long) and is the tallest point of my city Well, that was all, but if you want to watch more visit the next page: http://www.flickr.co.../119427194@N07/ See you later
  23. While visiting one of my favorite haunts in my hometown of Atlanta, Georgia a couple of months ago, I asked myself, "why don't you MOC this?" After all, it's a smallish corner building, and it has some very unique and iconic design elements. So, I decided to give it a whirl. And within a matter of hours, I already had a basic outline of what I was doing. Here's a picture of the real thing, the Vortex Bar & Grill in Little Five Points: I knew the skull facade was going to be the make-or-break part of the MOC, so I decided to work on that first. And it took a few rounds of trial and error before I found something I liked. I did have to take some liberties to make it work in brick and keep it recognizable, but overall, I found myself happy with the build. So, here's some shots of the outside: Little Five Points was originally built as the commercial district of the Inman Park and Candler Park neighborhoods in the Eastern part of Atlanta. In the last few decades, it has become a center for bohemian lifestyles and subcultures. The neighborhood is filled with music stores, head shops, alternative fashion boutiques, and a variety of restaurants and bars. The Vortex's unique entryway makes it instantly recognizable in the heart of the neighborhood. Here are some of the folks you might be likely to see standing outside on a nice Spring afternoon: While the exterior was going to be an important thing to get right, the interior was another level altogether. The Vortex is filled with chotchkies, bric-a-brac, trinkets, and what-have-you, and there are some definite design elements that couldn't be passed over, even when scaling the building down to fit the Modular standard. The bar area, seen above, lifts out so that you can see the details behind the bar. The light brick which illuminated the bottles is activated by a button below the vent hood on the outside of the bar. Here is an exploded view of the whole building: And here's your cast and crew, thanking you for stopping by to look at my pics: You can find more pics of my creation in my Brickshelf or Flickr pages.

    Winter Village: Restaurant

Warm up after a break in the snow at the Winter Village Restaurant! Help deliver today's supplies and feed customers! Have a nice cup of hot chocolate or build a snowman! Set up the tree or pet the cat with this new addition to the Winter Village! (I believe the piece count is about 680. I may have messed up somewhere in there though!) Interior features; table, two chairs, smaller set-up (table and bench) with turkey, end table, chimney, stocking on the wall, light brick, plus an upstairs featuring sink and cabinets. All of the crates/barrels/pizza boxes can be loaded onto the truck. Accessories include: Two crates with one apple each + tops; Larger crate with three fish packed in ice (trans-clear 1x1 round plates) + top of crate; Three pizza boxes + one pizza and a 2x3 yellow plate so you can open one pizza box; One barrel with cherry + barrel top; One turkey, complete assembly, One red mug; One shovel; Seven minifigures (owner, truck driver, customer - lady, three children, waiter); Skis and ski poles; Christmas tree; Two small presents; One large present; Cat; Snowman; Stocking; Light brick (top of building); Carrot (bottom only). I took the "similar in style... to the previous official TLG releases" as seriously as I could, so here is a list of the similarities: Using a wooden door - Winter Village Bakery (as this is a similar type of build, I wanted to make that the same). Leaving gaps around windows - Winter Village Cottage (admittedly they aren't that big. But I didn't want to balance a piece in there as I'm fairly certain that LEGO wouldn't do that). As far as I know, TLG has never used SNOT for flooring before. However if they did I'm sure it would be attached to the baseplate, so I made sure to do so myself (all the rows are attached which allows me to attach the various pieces of furniture. Nothing has been left loose - not even the Turkey). None of the Winter Village sets have stairs, however all of them have half upper stories. Red and green decorations - each Winter Village has it's own variety of decoration that it uses multiple times. The Toy Shop used round green pieces with a red dot off to the side; the Bakery round green pieces with a red dot in the middle; the Post Office, trans-red and trans-yellow 1x1 pieces; and the Cottage used a red bow design backed by green as possible (and a second variety, a 1x1 green plate with a 1x1 round red plate on top). I used a green corner plate with a 1x1 round red plate where possible, and on the windows an inverted 1x1 green plate with a 1x1 round red plate on the bottom. Using logs - each Winter Village has used a specific brick multiple times that has not been re-used in the others (or, if it has, in a very different way or color). The Toy Shop used inverted slopes for the windows; the Bakery used arches; the Post Office round windows/foundation; the Cottage profile bricks (it is somewhat of a weak point as I used profile bricks, but in a different color). Putting a colored stripe (awning) over some area - Winter Village Toy Shop. Grey foundation - all but the Cottage used grey for their foundation. Every set has included a bench (except the Cottage) and a light post (but always different). Using a non-white roof and then adding snow - Winter Village Post Office. Most of the Winter Village sets have included only two female characters. There are other similarities, but that's probably way more than you wanted to know already! On the similar in style, weak points are: I used lots of CMF pieces for the minifigures. I was not able to include a row of lights on a string (which has edit: not been done in every Winter Village set so far). The snowman is almost too similar to the one in the Winter Village Toy Shop. My apologies if I got a little long winded. There's no need to read it all! Thanks for looking, comments are appreciated!
