  1. After a post by a fellow member, I learned that 76021 was already in shelves at the Houston LEGO Store. What followed can be best described as "sheer joy." I had been looking forward to this set since initial descriptions surfaced. A Marvel set that's larger than 400 pieces? A set based on Guardians of the Galaxy, one of the comics on my pull list? I was sold. But did the Milano Spaceship Rescue turn out as well as I'd hoped? Is it truly "all that and a bag of chips?" Read on to find out... Name: The Milano Spaceship Rescue Theme: LEGO Marvel Superheroes Year: 2014 Pieces: 665 Minifigs: 5 Minifigures Price: USD $74.99 Minifigures: There are 5 minifigures included, 4 of which are exclusive. The Sakaaran appears in all three sets based on the film. I'll start with Star-Lord, the rebellious prince of Spartax. Star-Lord wears a maroon jumpsuit for space flight. His facial expressions are snarky and angry, similar to most of the other LEGO Marvel Superheroes. His hair is pretty common to find these days, nothing to get excited about. I am excited, however, by his new dual blasters. They're very accurate to the comics and to what we've seen of the film so far. He also comes with a helmet complete with hair! It doesn't look as bad as you might expect. He doesn't tower over minifigures, but it's fairly noticeable. And he has this gun... thing? I'm sure all will be explained in the film. Next up is Gamora, the most dangerous assassin in the galaxy and the daughter of Thanos, the Mad Titan. Her jumpsuit is basically the female counterpart to Star-Lord's, which makes them seem more like a team. Her hair is unique, and useful to MOCers wanting to create a punk rock/pop star. Drax the Destroyer, a being created with the sole purpose of killing Thanos, completes the Guardians included here. He is controversially grey, falling victim to what I'll call "concept art" syndrome, much like sleeveless widow's peak Mandarin. Drax is adorned with tattoos across his torso and on his arms. If you look closely, you can see little LEGO skulls. Neat-o! Ronan the Accuser, the Supreme Accuser of the Kree Empire, takes the role as lead villain, though he is much more (morally) grey in the comics. Only time will tell if the film will follow that characterization. He has a nice headdress that doesn't fold his cape up too much. He also wields the Universal Weapon and carries what I presume to be one of the infinity gems, or stones as they are called in the MCU. The Sakaaran appears to be a member of the Shadow People, the creators of the Old Power. He looks A-OK! Pretty menacing, but forgettable on the whole. His weapon is generic enough to be used for space themed MOCs. The Necrocraft Cockpit Open The Sakaaran sits at the controls... The engine Beauty shot! The Sakaaran ship, or Necrofighter in proper terms, is a nice inclusion. Menacing, swooshable, and equipped with two new spring missiles. The controls are simple, but at least they're there (I'm looking at you, Extremis helicopter...). The Milano Well equipped for any battle... I was surprised that the designer didn't include any of the new spring missiles. There's plenty of room underneath (as you'll see later on). They're super functional and I'm mildly disappointed that we didn't get any to add to the fire power of the Guardians. Thrusters The underside Just a quick note, it's nice that the big holes on the underside are covered by large thrusters. It's not perfect but it gets the job done. Rear view The interior Gamora's controls are a printed tile, previously seen in some of the Star Wars sets... Aurebesh lettering? Mark your calendars, everyone: Disney is planning a crossover. Might the Millennium Falcon meet the Milano? Seating (and a fire extinguisher) ...and some more seating! Are you "Hooked on a Feeling?" Get ready for lift off! Comparison with 6869 Quinjet Aerial Attack Conclusions... So that's the Milano! Overall this was a joy. The interior is great: spacious, plenty of seating, a very detailed cockpit, lot's of free clips. What's not to love? The window in the back is a nice surprise and gives it some atmosphere. Another nice surprise is the stereo! I imagine that'll be a bigger plot point in the film than we previously thought. Can somebody say: "That's momma Star-Lord's mixtape?" Back on track: The build was nicely paced, I was never bored. The ship is heavy and full of features so you feel like you're getting your money's worth. Both fighters are very swooshable. There are a smattering of new elements for the MOCers and the figures will leave all of the Marvel fans and kids happy. If I had some criticisms, they're that the wings take a little time to adjust because the ball joints are very close together so it was difficult to position them correctly. Also the lack of Groot as a potted plant is disappointing given how easy it would have been to include. Perhaps he doesn't have that ability in the film, only time will tell. But in the end... Playability: 10/10 (No spring missiles for the Milano, but the interior, swooshability, and Sakaaran Necrofighter more than make up for it) Design: 10/10 (I see no problems here. As I said before, the build is excellently paced and the Milano is very sturdy) Price: 9/10 (665 pieces is average for $74. It's forgivable though because the Milano is pretty heavy so you feel like you get your money's worth and there is so much playability) Overall: 10/10 (Don't delay come June 1!) Bonus As a little celebration of the LEGO Marvel Universe entering the cosmic realm, I took a group photo of all of the characters we have thus far...

[ MOC ] Medical Ship "White Whale"

When Tony Stark decides to leave the arm-dealing field, he sets up Stark Resilient, which aims to put his technology to the city to benefit the needed people. This time, he puts his arc reactor on the medical ship, and that helps reduce the transport time for patients to the hospitals and makes in-the-air surgery possible. The arc reactor engines are small and powerful, so that the ship can have more space for other uses. Tony meets the team of medical staff at the launch of new medical ship. Overview of the ship, which is quite bulky. Probably that gives people a more "caring and steady" feel for transporting the injured. Side view, and front view below. The cockpit has two seats, and the higher back one can be closed sideways so as to give access to the front seat. And yes, it is a little futuristic era to see the blue transparent panel. Maybe the front should have the same, now I realize! The top is the core of the energy source. The new repulsor engine in action. Normal; flipping out shields and turning backwards for rear thrust.... The back, which has two doors to ensure that the inside is sealed off from the outside, since this ship allows in-the-air surgery. The inside is a well equipped surgery room, with all the necessary medical supplies and tools. "Relax, and we will soon arrive at the hospital for a more thorough check." Thanks for checking!

    MOC: Fire Fighting Train

Presenting my Fire Fighting Train MOC. Fire fighting train is perfect for battling railway fires including in tunnels. It is equiped with dual high power nozzles, water and foam car, oxygen tanks, happy fire fighting crew. It is playable for ages 5 and up. Fire Fighting Train by dr_spock_888, on Flickr The equipment car has hose reel and cabinets for storage of oxygen tanks, masks, fire extinguishers, tools, etc. It is Power Function ready with space for IR Receiver and Battery Box. Battery box slots perfectly in between the storage cabinets. It is more capable than a CITY fire truck modified for rail service since the truck can't pull a passenger train out of a burning tunnel. Fire Engine MOD by dr_spock_888, on Flickr Don't forget to duck when going into tunnels. It doesn't look safe riding up there.

    MOC: Rescue Train Car

Presenting my Rescue Train Car MOC I made this on suggestion from Lightningtiger that my fire train needed more cars. http://www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?showtopic=100199 Plus I like unique railroad equipment and am going through a "Train Age" in my LEGO life. zephyr1934 found a nice article on fire & rescue trains: http://wildfiretoday.com/2010/08/24/fighting-fire-with-a-train/ This MOC is based off a Swiss tunnel fire rescue train. The rescue car is used for evacuating passengers and the injured to a safe location while the fire equipment and water cars stay behind to fight the fire. My MOC has room for one minifig on stretcher, 3 sitting and 6 standing. Play features include crane for lifting stretcher, openable doors, drop down ladders/steps, and removeable roof for accessing interior. There is a cabinet to store medical and other supplies. 5. Hello, I am new here on Euro Bricks, but I have been building for some time and I have started a Fire dept. I was wondering what I could improve on and what is liked/ disliked. There are more, I just haven't gotten around to taking pictures of them..
  6. These are the first two "completed" vehicles of my Copenhagen Fire Depatment project. If I ever get around to it I am going to change the white doors for a solution with grey tiles. I always kind of hated those white doors, but they were all I had. Also I need new stickers on plastic in stead of paper, they look horrible around the edges. The first one is the I3, a Mercedes Econic rescue truck. It has e crew of 4, 2 in the front cab and 2 in the back. I am pretty happy with the cab, I might change the bumper though, at least change the head lights to some trans clear ones. Doors open, and a little view to the crew compartment. I am happy with how the back end turned out. I haven't put the equipment in yet, but here you can get an idea of the interior of the compartments. Here is the I2, a MAN dive rescue vehicle. It too has a crew of 4, a driver and leader in the front cab and 2 divers in the back. I think the cab turned out pretty ok, but needs a little internal work for structural integrity Here is a little view of the crew compartment and the tool compartments. My planned reconstruction will fit about twice as much equipment, and look more realistic. I was never quite happy with the back half of the truck. Some more tool compartments. The reconstruction will move the stuff you see in the compartment furthest to the back and hopefully allow me to use the space for more equipment Here is the stuff you saw in the other picture, a hydraulic cutter and some jacks loaded on hand trucks. Please let me know what you think
  7. Here are some hydraulic tools for Fire & Rescue. First, the Jaws of Life, the hydraulic cutters. Not so much modification done on this one except for the tiny little piece of flex tube connecting the hose to the compressor. Next a large hydraulic ram. This time with a little bit more modding. The outer tube is obviously a 3.5L flex tube, The extension is a long grey antenna. Last we have a small hydraulic ram, perfect for a dash board lift Again a 2L flex tube and the top of the antenna Please let me know what you think

    S&S Wildland Ultra XT 6x6

***Updated pictures ***Added .LXF file - http://www.mediafire...15pccqmlrfh27uw ***Updated .LXF file (changed non-existant pieces, replaced rear "storage boxes" with safes, strengthened some areas) Behold the second ever LEGO Ultra XT 6x6 built to date haha You've seen it in 6-wide, now let's see how it looks in the mighty 8-wide! Features: -Opening doors -Rolling wheels -Colors -Made of plastic lol -There's a hidden floor compartment to stash dirty underwear: -Just to add a play feature, I made the top hinged so it can easily be filled with "water". -Ideally I'd use a 2x2 manget plate with magnet for the rear dump valve, but I can't find the magnet plate in LDD. -There's a 10-stud long, 2-stud wide, 4-plate tall compartment running down the middle of the chassis, great for storing shovels, pulaskis, fishing rods, hot mermaids, etc. -Not exactly sure what's supposed to go in that empty section visible from the top -Could easily make it modular, it would just take some strategic placing of tiles on the chassis. You might also like: Type-2 Ambulance http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=77140 Vactor 2100 http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=66784 I got certified as a Wildland Firefighter last year, passed with flying colors, but couldn't keep going because my stupid deviated septum makes it impossible to breathe when doing heavy labor. Oh well, another crushed dream for the bucket. :(

MOC - Orca Rescue Plane & Carrier

While some people build their brick cities with more and more cars and planes, I always want mine to be more than that. It should evolve with new technology. I bought the set 7686 for some parts, but what was left was for something more intriguing. I always have the idea to make a more futuristic plane. C'mon, with Tony Stark in my city, I guess the city can benefit from his technology! Haha, so I recreated the "chopper", and embrace the future with a new design! I did some sketches first, all based on the plane Orca in C&C computer game. So the team reassembled! The orange rescue and repair team now includes the standard flatbed truck 60017, and on the right it is my another MOC Wheel-lift Wrecker, and this time we are to see the middle truck, the Orca Carrier and its plane! I imagine that this technology is just new, and in later years when the world war breaks out again in the C&C era (like 2050-21XX I guess), the Orca is transformed to an attack fighter. Anyway, that means this little plane is a precedent to the Orca fighter! The truck, while carrying the plane and transporting it, also provides tools and supply for maintaining the plane. Hey man, time for a little flight test! Two full throttle engines make this plane fly better than a chopper, probably! Overview of the plane... The tail...you can also see the engines now move to horizontal position, which is a flying mode. There is a landing gear at the tail that can be folded up. The two floodlights are perfect for search and rescue work! The truck also has an outdoor-use radar and computer system, that helps the pilot to locate himself on the plane during rescue missions. Did you see the little + hole in the middle of the plane? That is where the "tool clips" are installed for different missions. I will show you more later here how that works!

    Ratchet (DOTM)

Thanks to prateek for some inspiration: http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=81238 I tried something new with the chassis, it's just two big 1x16 technic beams, but I spaced them so there's a 5-stud wide gap between them instead of 4-wide. This helps widen the track (distance between tires on the same axle) while still keeping the body itself 8-wide. Got lazy so it isn't finished, looks good so far.
  12. Hi everyone! Well, it's time to share a new MOC with you. The Monorail Emergency Train. The idea of such kind of equipment resulted from a derailing incidient on Brixe's monorail diorama during the last Fanwelt in Cologne, where the Farnheim Fire Department was called for technical assistance. So I started to create a special Monorail-based emergency and rescue vehicle. With that train the Farnheim Fire Department should now be well equipped for such future incidents. The train features an emergency module where evacuated injured passengers get first medical aid. The second supply module is equipped with lots of stuff for technical assistances and a huge watertank with a separated smaller foam tank. On the roof a big water cannon and a high reach extendable Turret (HRET) for structure fires nearby the railroad system are also installed. The electric drive has the advantage to evacuate passengers in heavily smoked tunnel systems. The train is sited in a special building near downtown Farnheim. Hope you like it. Thanks for watching. Critics and comments are very welcome as usual. Best regards, Farnheim
  13. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The escape from Nar Shaddaa begins! The back of the diorama and the Valkyrie... From a captured speeder, Jacen Solo launches himself at the Imperial forces wielding lightsaber and The Force pushing stromtroopers into the polluted clouds below. He doesn't know what's going to hit him! With Luke in tow the Valkyire powers into the sky. THE PLAYERS Jacen Solo ambushes an unwary stormtrooper. Deflecting blaster-fire, Jaina Solo secures Luke's tether to the Valkyrie. Luke Skywalker, older, but ever as strong with The Force. The deadly Boba Fett makes a shocking appearance where the galaxy had once thought him dead! Trooper TK-2407 in pursuit of the enemy. Mynocks abound on Nar Shaddaa. The polluted skies have little effect on these vermin of the skies! The Valkyrie's pilot. My entry to the main section of The Future of Star Wars contest sees an older Luke Skywalker escaping the Imperial Remnant with the help of Jacen and Jaina Solo and the New Republic ship Valkyrie. It's been a hard slog getting this finished, dabbling in lots of different contruction techniques and a lot of trial and error over the course of several late nights. I've even been refering to my wife as the 'LEGO Widow' (thank you so much for your patience). I wanted to encapsualte everything I feel is quintessentially Star Wars: Spaceships! Speeder chases! Adventure! Daring rescues! Imperial entanglements! Wild creatures! Faces old and new! I hope I've managed to capture the spirit of Star Wars - and hope you think so too! Thanks for looking and best of luck with the contest everyone. Tonight, I'm having an early night... Brickshelf folder and all pictures live here when moderated.

    MOC: Emergency Station

Hi everyone! As a result of the rebuild of my emergency vehicles I also finished a little emergency station. This areal has got a large dual garage for two ambulances and another one for the emergency car driven by the doctor. The structure has some room for the personnel. You can find a small kitchen, a computer workstation, a rest room and of course a toilet. So the doctor and his paramedics can do some acitivities beside all the actions. A little kitten from a neighbor comes around from time to time... The Farnheim Fire Department had formed a new rescue concept for the 21st century back in 1998. It implied to build three different Emergency Stations strategically sited throughout the municipal area. The goal was and now is to reduce the way to the scene significantly - and save lives. This station was built in 2005 and can be found in northern area of the city. So, that's all with that little (fictional) history of that building. Hope you like it. Here are the pictures... Thanks for watching. C&C welcome as always... Best regards, Farnheim
  15. It took a while but I'm excited to share my entry for the expand the Winter Village contest! The story: A couple years ago this quiet mountain community became popular as word of mouth began to spread about this charming village. First came the log cabins, ski chalets, candy stores, and coffee shops. Last year my Winter Sports Store opened up. This resulted in many citizens and tourists getting lost, stranded, and injured as they went skiiing, snowboarding, snowshoeing, hiking, skating, ice fishing sledding, etc. Thus the need for a first aid station and search & rescue headquarters for the village. So an abandoned army radar station was put to good use and a refurbished MASH helicopter was donated to assist with transporting the injured and stranded back to safety. ^^entry overview with Helicopter, crashed skiier, snowboarder kids, injured guy on crutches, snowmobile, ice fisherman ^ interior view. consisting of emergency clinic, weather/dispatch station, and workshop ^ As with the other WV sets, this one also has a light brick used in a unique way ^ Time to tune up the Skidoo! ^ rough day on the slopes! More pictures are here : http://www.flickr.co...s/43769067@N08/ Builder notes: - I intentionally left out some Christmas decorations as it felt wrong to add them in late January. - Thanks to the CMF boxer's, I now have mittens in 2 colors for my kids to keep their hands warm! -The Helicopter is modelled after a BELL 47 aka H-13 Sioux made famous in the old TV show MASH -All decals are from older Lego sets Thanks for looking!
