    Polybag month! - LDD MOC

Hi to all, I noticed it for quite some time that I enjoy designing something small rather than huge builds. This led to the habit of designing advent calendars (I hope some of you remember it ). I started a new one some weeks ago (waaaaay before Xmas) but I didn't want to wait until December, so please let me show you: June - the polybag month! The builds of each day won't have the usual "fit-into-a-small-window" size, but a little big bigger, let's say 40-50 bricks; the size of a usual polybag set. One advantage doing it not for Xmas is that it will contain 30 builds, not 24. The more builds, the more fun! So let me show you the 1st day (I know it's only 31st May today here in Europe, but I don't know how much time I'll have tomorrow to start the topic. Expect the 2nd day on 2nd June.) Day 1- Coffee Bicycle

  4. Hey all, this is a review of the upcoming LEGO Elves Azari's Magic Fire Polybag. This is a promotional polybag given to anyone to purchase the LEGO Elves set in March 2015 on Shop@ Home. I was able to find it in Toys R Us Canada oddly enough (not on shelves but the cashier had a cart with a bunch of them). It only has 27 pieces and the minifigure is slimmer than the regular minifigures but lacks mobility in the legs. Full Review: http://brickpreviews.com/lego-elves-30259-azaris-magic-fire-polybag-review/ Here are some pictures If you like the Elves theme you are in luck as I will be posting review of a bunch of the sets in the next few days!
  5. Name: City 30313 Garbage Truck Theme: LEGO System / City Year: 2015 Pieces: 48 Minifigs: 1 minifigure Price: USD $3.49 I picked up this new polybag in the Easter section at Target. The parts. Front end could use a bit more detail, but a nice little utility vehicle vehicle. The extras, not much but the black arm is a nice piece. Playability: 7/10 For a $3.49 set its not bad with the trash and shovel and cans to put them in. Design: 8/10 Its a polybag, but the little mechanism for the cans is nice. Could use some sort of front fairing. In general this stood out to me more than some of the recent City polybags. Reminds me of a John Deere Gator type vehicle. Price: 7/10 Average price per piece, nice printing on minifig but nothing new. Minifigure: 6/10 Pretty typical blue collar worker type figure. Seems like a lot of these guys have facial hair in the LEGO world. Parts: 7/10 The trash cans are moderately valuable, the arms with hooks are always useful, and the oldschool car base is not found in too many sets these days. Total: 35/50 A pretty average set but would make a nice addition to a park scene. Will be watching to get a couple more cheap if they make it to 50% off the day after Easter.
  6. Hi everyone! While being on a trip in Denmark, I've been able to get my hands on the Stormtrooper Sergeant Polybag. It's seems that this one is pretty rare, considering there is none on Bricklink (yet), and only one available on Ebay. How so? This one is, so far, only available in the BR shops...and supposedly "only gave away when you come by dressed as a Stormtrooper". As it is not indicated, you will also have to ask (nicely) to the BR shops staff :) Here are some pictures. Sorry for the quality but I didn't have any proper white background. Nothing interesting on the back of the package, except maybe the reference 5002938 - Item : 6105721 which I forgot to shoot. What do you get? 5 parts + a tissus epaulet (similar to other lego cloaks). Good thing is, the blaster is a classic style one...Less playability, but doesn't look like a pickle pot launcher. Now, let's compare with some other Troopers. Below, you can see the one from the Troop Transport battlepack (blue marks on the helmet), and the one from the Ewoks Village : And here is the one from the polybag : So basically, you get almost the same trooper as in the battlepack, with a classic blaster and an epaulet...But if you look in details, the lines below the eyes are black (instead of grey for the battlepack troopers). Maybe this little detail will get you excited and send you to a new "Find this polybag" quest? If not, then what we complain about? This polybag is available for free, no minimum buy or so :) The only thing that bother me - just a little bit - is that you can't rise the right arm with the blaster in it, thank you epaulet! Maybe that's why troopers can't shoot properly... Anyway, hope you like this left handed little guy! Could be a nice adition to the current Battlepack :)
  7. Darth Revan, probably one of the most (if not THE most) famous and beloved characters in the Star Wars Expanded Universe. For those of you who are not familiar with the EU, Revan first appeared in the hit role-playing video game Knights of the Old Republic (KotOR) released in 2003. Acclaimed by both the critics and the fans, KotOR is still to this day considered as one of the best Star Wars video games ever made. Unfortunately it is quite difficult to talk about this character without revealing too many spoilers, so let's just say Revan and his friend Alek were Jedi and war heroes during the Mandalorian Wars (between 3976 and 3964 before the Battle of Yavin). After the defeat of the Mandalorians during the Battle of Malachor V, Revan and Alek pursued the surviving enemy vessels into the unknown regions of the galaxy and disappeared. When they came back a year later, they were leading the forces of the Sith Empire as Darth Revan and Darth Malak... If you want to know more about this character, I suggest you watch this video (watch out, it contains spoilers) or simply play the game... Following the 2013 Hoth Han Solo minifig, this year's May the 4th promotional polybag is most definitely a great and surprising choice from LEGO. Basic Information • Set name: Darth Revan • Set number: 5002123 • Ages: 6+ • Number of pieces: 7 • Minifigs: 1 • Theme: Star Wars / Expanded Universe (EU) • Price: Free (offered as part of the "May the 4th" promotion with every LEGO Star Wars purchase of at least 55€/75$ between 28/04 and 04/05/14) • Year released: 2014 The Review The polybag Let's first take a look at the polybag itself. The front features the same logo design as the regular 2014 movie sets. If I'm not mistaken, the background in front of which Revan appears is based on the corridors of the Invisible Hand, the separatist command ship from Episode III. There isn't much to see on the back aside from some multilingual words of caution and a picture of the minifig's actual size. Unlike some of the older polybags, the back isn't translucent, which makes it impossible to see any of the pieces it contains. 1 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr Here it is now compared to an older polybag. As you can see, Revan's bag is slightly bigger although the difference is barely noticeable. However, due to the small amount of pieces it contains, the polybag does look quite large and feels a little empty. 2 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr The minifig The bag only contains 7 pieces. Unlike those found in bigger sets, the cape is not protected by the usual little cardboard box. As you also probably have noticed, the parts are made of Chinese plastic (which is pretty much the norm now for the polybags). The minifigs comes with one single accessory: a regular red lightsaber with a silver hilt. 3 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr There is no printing on the back of the head (which is normal since Revan never reveals his face) but there's also no backprinting on the minifigure's torso. Even though some details on the back would have been nice, I suppose it is not really a big deal considering he always wears a cape. 4 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr And here's a nice look at the complete minifigure in all its glory... Revan definitely looks better in person than on all the other pics I've seen. The details on his torso look fantastic. 5 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr 6 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr The fallen Jedi next to other Sith lords of the Old Republic era. Definitely a nice addition to any EU/KotOR/TOR fan's collection. 7 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr And errr... well this is for those of you who always wondered what's behind the mask... 8 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr 9 par Elrond Half-elven, sur Flickr Ratings Let's admit it, rating this polybag isn't easy. You can't really evaluate the quality of the build or its price. I also imagine your opinion on this minifigure will probably depend on whether or not you enjoy the EU, and more precisely the Old Republic era. If you don't, I can understand why you can't find anything exciting about this figure, unless you plan on using some of the parts for a MOC minifig... or unless you want to sell it. For those of us who do enjoy it however, this exclusive minifig appears as a unique opportunity to get a LEGO representation of a fan-favourite character. This is probably the only chance we'll have to get a Darth Revan minifigure (unless Disney decides to adapt KotOR at some point but for now this seems rather unlikely) and I believe those who like the character should seize that opportunity. The minifig is nothing special as far as parts are concerned. It doesn't have any special or new fancy armour piece like Malgus but it still looks great nonetheless. I'd give it a 8/10, the only real disappointment being the lack of backprinting.
  8. [Review] 30247 ARC-170 Starfighter (mini) Details: Ages 6-12 RRP: N/A Parts: 58 (approx) Introduction: There are lots of disadvantages about living in the UK; the climate, the weather, winter and endless congestion to name just a few, but just occasionally it’s all worthwhile. For some reason we seem to get a free Lego promotion a couple of times a year via one of the national newspapers. And yes, you’ve guessed it, this week we have another selection including the new ARC-170 Starfighter. This is the second Star Wars polybag that’s included in the promotion; I’ve already made a review of 30246 (Imperial Shuttle) which you can see here. The bag: Standard size polybag, with the new slightly scary looking Darth Vader. Personally I prefer it to the previous (Yoda) version, and seems to compliment most of the sets I’ve seen. The Starfighter is flying over an unknown planet and, as you’d expect, is firing at an unseen foe. I like the colours and it’s just as good as the Imperial Shuttle. Part selection: A total of 58 (ish) including around 3-4 spares. A nice selection of parts which I’m sure would be appreciated by most builders. As with the shuttle there are lots of smaller parts, but it includes a few dark-red and black bits which I’m sure I can find a use for. Instructions: Standard format for polybags, it’s a bit smaller than A4 and double-sided. The model is built in 19 separate sections and is quite fun considering the small size, a maximum of 5 minutes effort. It’s a little more complicated than the shuttle, but most adults should be able to cope! I’ve included both sides just incase you wanted to replicate it via your parts bin. The result: It’s a nice little model and a good replica of the original. However, it’s very nose heavy and I had to hastily construct a stand for the photo. It’s a bit of a shame really, I can see younger fans being upset by this; to be honest the min X-Wing we had a few years ago was far superior. Apart from that I can’t really fault it, especially considering the price point... I got this for 60p, including a nice paper to line my recycling bin with. Summary: Cost: 5/5 – A total bargain Parts: 4/5 – A nice selection of parts, including some dark-red and black Build: 4/5 – Moderately interesting, although a bit fiddly at times Model: 3/5 – Instantly recognisable, surprisingly detailed for such a small set Balance: 1/5 – Good fun to swish, but very nose heavy. Overall 17/25 or 68% if you prefer.
  9. A British newspaper, the Daily Mail, will soon be running a Lego promotion. You can see the polybags that will be part of the promo here: http://brickset.com/sets/list-10595 The 30247 ARC-170 Starfighter is pretty rare. I believe it's never been available in North America or continental Europe. If you're interested in any of these, please: 1. express your interest by posting below, and 2. PM me to let me know specifically what you're after and if you want to buy or trade. I'm after: - a sealed Iron Man polybag ( http://brickset.com/sets/30167-1/Iron-Man-vs-Fighting-Drone ) - the Hulk big fig (both trouser colours) in mint condition - the Taskmaster minifig in mint condition - the Neimoidian Warrior minifig ( http://www.bricklink.com/catalogItem.asp?M=sw536 ) in mint condition. I'll also take payment by Paypal. I charge postage and packing at cost and send to the US, Canada, most but not all of Western Europe (including the UK!), Japan, S. Korea, Australia, New Zealand, Singapore, Hong Kong and Taiwan. Amps

  12. Hello, I looked through forum and found some reviews of other The Lego Movie polybags, but couldn't find a review of this one) So, I decided to write it. It's easy found it in Russia - in our Lego franchise shops (Mir Kubikov, if interested), but it is only exchanged for The Lego Movie cinema ticket. Set Title: Micro Manager Battle Set #: 30281 Theme: The Lego Movie Pieces: 27 (and spares) Minifigures: 1 Year of Release: 2014 Price at release: Exchange for 'The Lego Movie" ticket + any set purchased at Mir Kubikov (franchise shop) (I bet, it can be found somewhere else) This set looks as a standart polybag. It's small-scale and colorfull . Pieces fill only a small part of the bag. There are about 31 pieces (including minifigure), and most of them are really usefull. Instruction is quite small, and short. WyldStyle, the only minifigure of the set looks really cool. Her hood is an separate piece. Colouring is pretty good, and it can be useful with other minifigs. Also, her torso has print on both sides. Her face has prints on both sides too. All parts of the set are used to build a Micro Manager. Undoubtedly, it is really cute) Both parts of set look cool together: As a conclusion, I'd like to say some things about this set. I discovered that i can get this set immediatly after watching the film, and I was really excited. because it's a great opportunity to get WyldStyle, with a plenty of some cool parts. Manager's design is cute, for me - it's the best Manager in this theme. CONCLUSION Design: 8/10. This scene could appear in the film, and Manager is cute) Parts: 9/10. Big variety of interesting parts. The only useless part is a red brick - and it can also be used) Build: 9/10. Fast and easy build Minifigs: 9/10. Fully standart WyldStyle. She is cool, and it's the cheapest oppotunity for getting her. Playability: 4/10. Only roleplay, nothing else. Price: 9/10. Free for everyone, who watched the Lego film. Total: 48/60. Great choice for a building, great choice for a collection.
  13. Anyone Want? by Legocollecter123, on Flickr I am looking for £10 GBP which is about $17 USD and 13 Euro I am happy to post anywhere if you are willing to pay, Hopefully they can find a good home and can be useful to someone. Any questions please let me know .
  14. Another The Lego Movie polybag has been released into the wild! I previously reviewed the first set, The Piece of Resistance, in another thread. This time it's the Super Secret Police Enforcer, a little hoverbike which is exclusive to Toys R Us. Licensed polys often appear and disappear from TRU very quickly, so hopefully this review will give you an idea of whether you should try to find it before it's gone. Set Title: Super Secret Police Enforcer Set #: 30281 Theme: The Lego Movie Pieces: 40 (and spares) Minifigures: 1 Year of Release: 2014 Price at release: $4.99 US Here's the set in its usual, mid-sized polybag with the Minifigure next to it for comparative purposes. The bag has the same flashy packaging as the main retail sets. It is funny to see the traditional Lego logo next to the movie logo--what, as if we didn't know who made this product? Anyway, the overall package is decent. The back of the packaging lets you get a kid into Legoland for free. Actually, that's not too bad given that those parks are pretty expensive. It also works for the Legoland Discovery Centers which are appearing in more places, so if you live thousands of miles from California or Florida, you might not have to travel as far. Anyway, the back of the package gives you information in other languages. I guess "Enforcer" is the name of the minifigure as opposed to his scooter. For some reason, I thought the "enforcer" was the bike! Here's the parts. It's a motley selection, but if you're in the market for spare white angles or black curved slopes, this might be for you. The spare pieces. No surprises here. Everyone needs an extra visor, right? Here's the completed minifigure and his weapon. If you feel the need to army build for TLM, then this set may be your easy option to get this particular Robo-SWAt officer. The next cheapest option is to get the Melting Room ($12 US), which comes with a similar cop who has a different head and headpiece. Another option is the Super Cycle Chase ($40 US), which comes with the same minifig, but he's got a vest attachment. That gun accessory is new. It's a nice looking sci-fi rifle and could be useful in a variety of customized settings, so I hope Lego makes more of them. There's an odd clip on the top of the rifle and I'm not clear if it's intended for anything or if it's supposed to be a sight that just happens to be shaped like a clip. However, there is something neat you can do with it, which I'll discuss a little later. Here he is from the back. He actually has back printing. You can see that his voice transmitter from the front is wired to a walkie-talkie on his back. That's nice attention to detail. Here's the usual sheet of instructions. Nothing special to see here. The craft isn't very complicated. Here it is mostly built, except for the wings. Those are cleverly attached with hinged plates that do make a nice, sci-fi angled effect. The wings go on like so. I found this part a little confusing; my gut was to put them the other way since the angled white plates go on the inside. Remember: the blue and red lights go out. All finished. It's a cute little bike-thing that seems appropriate for a polybag. Remember how I said the rifle has a clip? You can conveniently attach it to the top of the SWAT-bot's seat. This frees up both of his hands to work the controls. He can almost reach behind his head to grab the hilt (except that his helmet gets in the way of his arm). It's a nice touch, whether the designer intended it or not. I did take a look at the bottom of the craft and decided that it's kind of...blah. Normally, I don't care about the bottom of a build, since it's just tubes and holes, but something really bothers me about how plain this is. I do recommend adding a clear piece to the bottom so that you can have a "hover" effect. I added one here to give you an idea of what to use. Lastly, here it is in "hover" mode. Adding a clear brick really lets this set "take off." I think that's my one disappointment, that they didn't include one. How is it overall? Compared to the Piece of Resistance set, I think this makes a nice little polybag. There really tend to be two kinds of licensed polys out there: true "promotional" sets, and "army builders." The Emmet set is the former: it was just the same Emmet you could get in most other TLM sets with a pile of rock, and it wasn't particularly film-accurate. (That set would have been a nice pairing with TRU's giveaway of Emmet's car, because they handed out a car without Emmet himself.) That set really had no use unless you really wanted an extra Emmet or are a poly completionist. This ranks it with other sets that have a unique figure which you can get elsewhere, like Thor and the Cosmic Cube, or Frodo and his small stove, or the Lone Ranger's Pump Car. I guess they're meant to be a gateway drug to larger sets, but they have no value added if you're already buying everything. On the other hand, you have "army builders" who can be bought in other sets, but they enhance what you already have. You want more of these guys because the source material has a lot of them. Examples are the Lord of the Rings Orc or the Hobbit's Lake Town Guard. (Too bad Star Wars never gives us polys with Stormtroopers or Clones.) If you're getting Super Cycle Chase or the Police Dropship, you probably want one of these to have just one more SWAT robot. I will say that I just watched the movie again yesterday and didn't see this craft anywhere. Maybe I missed it, but odds are this set is a unique toy you won't find in the film. And that's OK, since the film is all about creativity. It certainly looks like something that could be in the film, and it's one more cop for your assault on Cloud Cuckoo Land. CONCLUSION Design: 9/10. I like it! It's a nice "Blade Runner" kind of bike even if it wasn't in the film. Like I said, the addition of a clear piece to elevate it would have been nice. Parts: 7/10. Hmmmm. The parts are ok, but nothing I was personally screaming for. They come together nicely, though. Build: 8/10. The build is short and easy, but not complicated (other than the wings being a little confusing). Minifigs: 9/10. Army builders are always good. Playability: 8/10. It's a nice "swooshable" craft. It has no real play features. I guess you can rotate the wings, but I don't think they're intended to rotate (but use your imagination). Price: 8/10. I'd like to have paid a dollar less, but I think that's decreasingly likely with prices slowly creeping up. (I just paid $5.50 for a poly at Target.) Total: 49/60. Hmmmm. I'd have thought that would have come out higher. I like it and I think it makes a nice little addition to the TLM sets. Compared to the Piece of Resistance, it's a much nicer polybag. I suspect I'll like it a lot better than the Micro Manager Battle poly which nobody's been able to locate yet. My verdict is to buy it. Coming up next: has anyone seen the Wyldstyle/Piece of Resistance set yet?

  16. Alright, EBers, we've gotten reviews of every The Lego Movie set released so far EXCEPT the polybags. This is probably because the polys are just making their way onto the market now. The Super Secret Police cycle is making its way to Toys R Us, and there's a Wyldstyle poly out there...somewhere. And then there's this guy, which is (so far) exclusive to the Lego Store. Is it essential to your TLM collection, or can you skip it? Read on! (Warning: movie spoilers ahead!) Set Title: The Piece of Resistance Set #: 30280 Theme: The Lego Movie Pieces: 33 (and spares) Minifigures: 1 Year of Release: 2014 Price at release: Free with a $50 (US) purchase at The Lego Store (though its retail value should be $4.99 US) 30280 is your standard 2014 small polybag dressed up in TLM style. I've put out a ruler as a size reference, so it looks to be approximately 6' x 6', or bigger than, say, a bottle of Kragle. (N.B.: I wish I had a proper bottle of Krazy Glue so I could compare the "piece of resistance" to what comes in the set. If I can get a bottle in the next few days, I'll update the photos.) The set includes your standard "tiny" polybag instructions which fold up to approximately the size of a minifigure. Here it is unfolded, but in folded condition, it's half the size of the set image in the top left corner. The set includes 33 pieces in an odd mix of slopes, clear plates, and some Technic parts. Included above are the spare pieces: one Technic stud, one cheese slope, one trans-yellow plate, and one minifigure back plate. Surprisingly, there's no spare coffee mug. Most sets where I've gotten a coffee mug came with spares--last year's City Advent Calendar was loaded with them. Oh, well--you take what you can get. Anyway, there's otherwise nothing unusual in this set other than the Piece of Resistance and Emmet's unique hair. If you buy EVERY TLM set, you're going to have a lot of Emmets with only some unique variances in the face. The Emmet from this set is in the middle, placed for comparison with Pyjamas Emmet on the left and CMF Emmet on the right. He's clearly similar to the CMF edition, except he's got the trademark "cowlick" hair and a toothy face. Frankly, this Emmet appears to be identical to the one in the Cloud Cuckoo Palace set, so there's nothing unique about the Emmet in this set. The back view. Emmet's back printing just shows the continuation of his safety stripes on his vest. His face is again the same as the Cloud Cuckoo version with the "scared" face. If you've seen the movie, then you'll know that the face is moderately appropriate for his encounter with the PoR. Here's a closeup of the PoR brick itself. If you don't know by now, it's a 1 x 1 brick with the unique feature of being two bricks high and having a stud-sized indent in the back. For film purposes, it's intended to be the It'll be interesting if Lego decides to incorporate it into other building sets in the future. What, I don't know, but a good Master Builder will find a use for anything. This set is intended to capture Emmet's discovery of the PoR, which he finds in a cave at the bottom of a hole. How well does it capture this? Well, let's look at the rock formation where the PoR is found. It's built on a 4 x 4 light bley base and made from a variety of bley slopes with the yellow 1 x 1 plates to add some glitter. The "rock" is initially built as seen above, with the Technic parts forming a lever which will be explained in a moment. The completed rock is finished like so. The PoR is hidden on the Technic mechanism behind the tall dark bley slope. Press the Technic lever and the dark bley slope pops off, and out comes the PoR. If this style looks familiar to you, it's because Lego uses the same basic idea in polybag set 30163, Thor and the Cosmic Cube. What this set and 30163 also have in common is that these polys don't really capture what happened in the movie, although this set is a little more accurate than the Avengers set. I don't think I'm spoiling much here--in the film, Emmet simply finds the PoR on a glowing rock; there's no revelation where a rock pops open as in this set. I don't think the rock quite looked like this, either--my recollection is that in The Lego Movie, the rock was black and looked like glowing lava. I could be wrong, but it didn't look like this. Also, Emmet didn't have a coffee mug in this scene. If anything, he should come with the phone he was carrying just before he fell in the pit, though maybe a printed tile matching Emmet's phone doesn't exist yet. Anyway, that's the set. So, is the set worth it? Pyjamas Emmet on the left is pretty bored by this set; PoR Emmet in the middle is confused, and CMF Emmet on the right thinks it's awesome! In other words, you'll have one of these three attitudes from the set. I think I personally fall in the middle. On the one hand, this particular scene is appropriate for a polybag. In the film, there's nothing visually exciting in the cave that would translate well into a playset. Emmet doesn't meet anyone in the pit. He simply falls down and finds the PoR. There's not a lot that would work in a full set, so a poly is probably the best choice to represent this limited scene. On the other hand, there's nothing unique to this set that can't be bought elsewhere. If you can purchase this Emmet at retail cost or if you get him incident to a $50 purchase that you were already making at the Lego Store, then he's your cheapest means of getting this Emmet. But should you go out of your way to get him? If you're already getting Cloud Cuckoo Palace, then no. Heck, even if you get Melting Room or Getaway Glider, you'll already get an Emmet who wouldn't have this exact head, but would be close. The PoR also comes in almost any set with an Emmet. Unless you're a polybag or TLM completist, or if you really, really need some bley slopes, there's not a lot of appeal here. I may put this Emmet on my desk, but that's about it for him. Really, this polybag seems to be an odd marketing tool. The draw of polys is that they're a cheap impulse buy intended to get the customer hooked to a Lego theme at a low price. They also give Lego the opportunity to get one more use out of a unique mold, so I guess this allowed them to produce a few more PoRs and Emmet hairpieces. Being the main character of the film, I can see why Emmet would be an easy candidate for a poly. However, this poly is being offered to a very limited segment: people who go through Lego's exclusive store and are spending $50. I suppose that it might be intended to hook Lego shoppers who are on the fence about getting into TLM toys, but chances are that if you shop at the Lego Store, you'll be seeing TLM and will be buying the sets. This set might have worked well as a promo at Toys R' Us, which gave away Emmet's car (without an Emmet) last Saturday. That makes sense--come in for Emmet's car, and for $5 more, you can buy an actual Emmet. And hey, while you're here, here's all the movie sets. The Lego Store's exclusive then could have been the Secret Police cycle which TRU is releasing at some point (as of tonight, mine still doesn't have it). Oh, well--it's your loss, Lego. Overall, this isn't a bad set, but there's nothing amazing enough about it that would make me tell you to go spend $50 at Lego just to get it. These types of polys do sometimes seem to end up for sale at the Lego Store, or they eventually make their way to Wal-Mart. If you're wanting this set but you're patient, it may turn up elsewhere. I can keep an eye on my store if anyone is desperate for one. CONCLUSION Design: 5/10. It's a pile of rocks that doesn't quite look like the film scene should. The Technic mechanism is cute, but again, the PoR doesn't manifest that way in the movie. Parts: 6/10. If you need light bley slopes, this is for you. I wasn't really wowed by anything in here. Build: 8/10. The build is short and easy, though the top slopes don't really secure in any way due to the mechanism. Minifigs: 7/10. It's Emmet. It's not a particularly unique Emmet. If they'd included a standard hardhat or a phone, I might rate this a little higher. Playability: 5/10. Push the lever, out pops the PoR. Granted, polybags have limited playability due to their size, but don't expect much other than "out comes the brick." Price: 7/10. It was technically free, but it's likely a $4.99 value. I believe that's standard for a licensed theme poly, but I was hoping for more pieces or something special. Total: 38/60. Not a great set. Not really a lousy set, either; it's just sort of "there" and you're not missing much unless you really need to have every TLM set. If you find it for sale after February when the exclusive offer has ended, go ahead and buy it if you want a cheap, quick Emmet source.
  17. Hello everyone, This polybag review ought to be shared with all of you in a few months ago, since my last visit to LEGOLAND Malaysia in September 2013 and this polybag was part of my shopping basket. I am pleased to pick this up quickly and polybags do not come so easily at times, so I just pick it without hesitation. Let's see if this polybag is worth the effort and value. Name: 30252 Crug's Swamp Jet Theme: LEGO System / Legends of Chima Year: 2013 Pieces: 23 Minifigs: 1 minifigure Price: USD N.A, GBP N.A, EURO N.A, SGD $8.00, RM 19.90 Resources: Brickset, BrickLink An original polybag image of the 30252 Crug's Swamp Jet Back view of the original polybag image of the 30252 Crug's Swamp Jet Ready for some fast speedy water action? This will be a short and comprehensive review. More importantly, this polybag served as an appetiser for any LEGO individuals who are unsure of this new Legends of Chima LEGO Theme. This polybag will allow you to have a good insight and deeper appreciation of the new minifigures designing concept which is largely based on the animal tribes rivalry over the control of 'chi' crystals. In this context, this polybag is all about the aquatic deployment of the swamp jet for the Crocodile Tribe. Instruction Manual (Front) Instruction Manual (Back) The LEGO building content These are the laid out content of building up this lovely little new LEGO Legends of Chima polybag set. The building process is quick and fast. It probably take the builder less than five minutes to finish building. After the built is completed, this is the only remaining spare part. My name is Crug and I belonged to the Croc tribe Crug's body structure revolved around the minifigure scale and the outer layer features his crocodile physical characteristics. The level of details is highly recognised, coupled with the fact that it comes with back printing and double head printing. These details are welcoming to know. Crug has appeared in just a few LEGO sets and not to mention that he has his very own new Speedorz set as well. My only complaint is the lack of weapon for Crug. It could be much complete in this manner The completed built of the Swamp Jet After completing the built of the Swamp Jet, you may find the entire design to be very simplistic. True enough, it utilise less than 30 bricks to construct this Swamp Jet and yet an individual can still readily recognise the direct usage of it. The overall colour schema made use of grey, red and dark olive green combination which is the primary colour of the Crocodile Tribe. On a whole approach, this is certainly an effective simplistic Swamp Jet that can be quickly deployed to respond towards water skirmishes. Lifting the front of the Swamp Jet The front of the Swamp Jet can be lifted upwards. Somehow or another, I find it quite familiar and able to relate it to the crocodile jaws. Where shall I place the 'CHI' crystal in order to power up my Swamp Jet? To conclude, I am very satisfied with this polybag design and more importantly, it is able to provide me a greater insight to the Crocodile Tribe minifigure in terms of seeing and appreciating the in-depth design features. This also allow me to obtain Crug in an inexpensive manner without buying regular LEGO sets. All in all, I will encourage you to grab this without second thought only if the pricing is very very reasonable. Otherwise, it's alright to give it a miss. Summary review Playability: 6/10 (The Swamp Jet can be deployed in many water battles quickly.) Design: 7/10 (Limited parts and simplistic design but able to utilise the parts well.) Price: 8/10 (The price that I paid for, is quite reasonable for a polybag price.) Overall: 7/10 (Grab this polybag if you are able to find it reasonably priced.) I gave it a "4" based on my Review Score Card. What about yours? I hope every one of you enjoyed reading this simple review of mine. Comments and Criticisms are strongly welcomed. 18. Hello again! After recently reviewing the Mirkwood Elf Army set I figured I would try my hand at another review, albiet a much smaller set this time.. the Lake-town Guard polybag! Name: Lake-town Guard Set Number: 30216 Pieces: 31 Price: $4.99 Ages: 6-12 Minifigures: 1 Theme: The Hobbit Year of Release: December 1st, 2013 Price Per Piece: $0.16 Package This set comes in a standard sized polybag with clear plastic on the top and bottom and printing in the middle. We have the same blue scene at the top with the dwarves hiking across a mountanous landscape. In the foreground we have the contents of the polybag assembled which are the small catapult firing, a weapon rack holding a bow, and Lake-town Guard holding a spear. We see everything placed on a dock, and in the background a nice looking Lake-town building. There's not much going on with the back of the package, as to be expected. Just some legal mumbo jumbo, info about where the parts are made, and a sad baby because he isn't old enough to play with Lego yet. Contents Here we see all the pieces inside the polybag. There is a nice amount of brown pieces, a few dark green, dark red, black, and gray pieces. The instructions all folded out. Like the other Hobbit: Desolation of Smaug sets we get a nice blue weatherd look on the instructions. The front page shows the complete catapult build and the start of the weapon rack. There is also the friendly reminder not to fire catapults at your friend's head. The back of the instructions show the rest of the weapon rack build and the finished results on the left side. On the right side we have an advertisement for just the Lake-town Chase set which makes sense considering that would be the set you most likely want to use the Lake-town Guard polybag with. Minifigure Ahh, finally the good stuff! The stuff everyone is going to buy this polybag for! The STUFF everyone buys ALL Lego for! Err, ahem, too far? In all seriousness though, this is an excellent polybag for this minifigure alone. He has very detailed armor printing on his torso and legs and comes with a new molded helmet only seen in one other set which is Lake-town Chase. The silver arms are a nice touch, though they seem to be a bit darker than some of the printing on the torso and legs. Still, it's not terribly noticeable. The back of the minifigure. There is much less printing on the torso and none on the legs, but it still looks nice. There is no double sided printing on the head because the back is visible even with the helm on. Another frontal view, this time with the helm off. The helm is definetly a nice piece with several different colors and textures. You have the marking on the front, the fur below that sticks out on the sides, and then the ear flaps below that on either side. The minifigures beard looks more orange in my pictures than it really is. It is more closely the the light brown/tan color seen on Eomer. This is a new head print apparently only found in this set and the Lake-town Chase which has an identicle Lake-town Guard. Build Wow that was fast! With most of the instructions for this build on one page in the instruction manual, there isn't a lot of step by step to show you guys that you can't see yourself. I feel like the dark red and green pieces sort of clash with the brown of this set, but I guess it adds some detail. Obviously the build is extremely quick and nothing terribly interesting sine the polybag focus seems to be on the minifigure. Still, it's nice to have gotten two different weapons even if one is an old spear mold (would of loved a newer one in black with a silver tip). Extra Pieces Again not much to show when it comes to the extra pieces in this set. You get a gray pin, a dark green cheese slope, and... that's it! As to be expected in a set only containing 31 pieces I suppose. Conclusion Overall I think this is one of the BEST LotR/Hobbit polybags we have recieved yet. The Uruk-hai polybag in the first LotR wave was great, but we already had the Uruk-hai Army set as a cheap way to mass soldiers and bricks making it a bit redundant. The Mirkwood Elf polybag released last year with the first Hobbit wave was more unique and gave people a nice option to mass elves at the time, but with the release of the Mirkwood Army set this year it has severely diminished the value imo. You can get elves and bricks in the MEA for cheaper AND they have proper printing that's not an olive green/dark green clash. There is also the Frodo, Gandalf, and yet to be released Legolas polybags, but all of these characters can be gotten in more interesting sets so they don't have much appeal besides as super cheap impusle buys for kids, or parts packs for AFOLs. The Lake-town Guard minifigure is only available in one other $50 set at the moment, but he is a figure I think most people will want at least a couple of. It's nice to get a rare character people will want mulitples of, in a cheap set, with the correct printing. Maybe Lego will release another cheap option with Lake-town Guards in it next year, but as things stand now the polybag is the ONLY option to get Lake-town Guards on the cheap. They also seem to be much more widely available at TRU here in the states right now making it easier to obtain. The Mirkwood Elf poly was only available two times or so at TRU last year and that was it, but the Lake-town Guard has been made available multiple times already. Playability: 8/10 For a $5 set I feel it has quite a bit of playability. You get the catapult and a weapon rack for the guard to use, both things a soldier would want I suppose. Design: 7/10 Neither of these builds are seen in the movie, from what I remember, and the colors kind of clash, but overall the builds feel ok. Price: 9/10 Since a large part of the piece count is the minifigure, the price seems ok. I would of preferred $4 (who wouldn't?), but $5 isn't bad. It may also be $5 because as of right now it's only available at TRU and we all know how they love to mark up the prices on their sets. If you can find it during a BOGO 50% off or $25 off $100 sale, both of which Toys R Us commonly runs, you can get this set for just under 4 bucks making it a much better deal. Minifigure: 11/10 This is obviously the main draw of the set. The figure has beautiful printing and a new helmet mold, as well as offering a great option to collect a few Lake-town Guard figures if you so choose to do so. I feel like the minifigure is obviously the star of the set and the main reason anyone would get it, even more so than with another bigger Lego set. Parts: 7/10 Nothing really great in the parts selection. Even the weapons are pretty common. The only unique parts are the minifigure Total: 42/50 Thanks for reading guys! I hope you all enjoyed this (short) review!
  19. INTRO I was at Toys R Us looking for the new The Hobbit polybag, but ended up getting a couple of these instead since only they were available. I like the parts which will be useful in my medieval and LotR blocks. SET INFORMATION LEGO, The Lone Ranger Series, 30261 Tonto's Campfire, polybag 20 pieces $4.99 retail High resolution Flickr photos Front Back THE PARTS Has some useful pieces like the tomahawk, wood spinner, bird. Instructions were lackluster Back of the instructions is just an advertisement, no alternate sets FINAL PRODUCT Alternate minifigure face Some extra parts IMPRESSIONS - Has some useful parts for a $5 polybag - The set is a bit on the bad side due to lack of alternate models / builds - Overall mediocre to average, even for a polybag RATING Playability/Reusability: 7/10 Appearance: 6/10 Value for cost: 7/10 Overall: 6.7/10
  20. Came across this on the Brickset Forums: It's on Brick Owl, too, which provided the photo. I really really really want it. I wonder if it will be a threshold promo as it is in a promobag packaging. It might be one of those things like the LEGO Club Max or BR LEGO promobag, which was extremely hard to find. So, where will we get this promo from?
  21. This looks like a cool polybag item. Has anyone seen it in the US besides the two on eBay for $30 each? (See Item 390629096708) I can trade a couple of hot dog stands (the July special at the LEGO stores in the US) if you have an extra Geoffrey. Or something else. Thanks!

    Review: 5001623 Jor-El

Review: 5001623 Jor-El Polybag Hello, and welcome to my very first Eurobricks review! Sadly, because of his dark colors, it's fairly difficult to get all the tiny details photographed without over-exposing the edges. But hopefully that won't detract too much from this review. And don't ask about the funky number, that's just what Bricklink and Brickset said. Set Number: 5001623 Name: Jor-El Theme: Super Heroes Subtheme: DC Universe Year of Release: 2013 Pieces: 5 Minifigs: 1 Price: N/A (Free Polybag with $75 purchase.) First, the packaging, which is typical for a polybag. The front has a picture of the completed minifigure, and the back is covered in copyright notices and warnings. The image is probably of Krypton judging by the red sun. But other than that, it contains few details. Jor-El is highlighted by an unusual white glow, and as was noted back when the figure was leaked, it's lacking any character design in the upper right-hand corner. After opening the bag, I was shocked to see that the cape is loose, with no cardboard protecting it against unwanted bending/creasing. Elrond's cape may have been done the same way, but it's still something to consider. Thankfully, there was no damage to any of the parts, and they all look great. Once built, the great printing really begins to shine. Like most polys, Jor-El is a Chinese-made figure, with the arm stamps and ever so slightly reduced quality. But the face printing quickly puts away any doubts regarding his worth. There's some back printing, and it's identical to Superman's, but sadly there's not alternate face print. Probably because the hair piece wouldn't be able to cover the beard in back. Now, as were many people, I was surprised to see that the Jor-El minifigure is considerable darker than the Kal-El/Superman minifigure. Of course, part of it is the cape, as Jor-El uses dark brown as opposed to Kal-El's bright red. As you can see, the cape makes some difference but even so, Jor-El's plastic is a few shades darker. Here's a nice family picture...Plus Zod. Sadly, Jor-El's darker printing doesn't show up very well, and this allows the sheer awesomeness that is Zod to stand out. Also, the armor doesn't look nearly as cool on Super-Daddy. Results: Design: 4- It's a great print, and filled with details. He may not have a second face, and the printing may be nearly identical to Superman's, but it's still "Super." Value: 3- I didn't have to pay for it, but the listing price on Lego.com is $5. It's a bit steep for one minifigure and no build, but it's a rarer figure, and unlike the CMFs, you know what you're getting. Playability: 3- It's a minifigure...With no accessories, no flick-fire missiles, no tiny useless build, and no ADU gun. On it's own it's got a certain degree of playability, but needs more to live up to it's full potential. Overall: 4- It's the perfect choice for a poly. He's a bigger player in the movie, but isn't big enough to be in any of the other sets. He's desirable, a great design, but this isn't robbing a different set of an integral character. REVIEW: 5001621 Han Solo (Hoth)

Name: Han Solo (Hoth) Theme: Star Wars Year: 2013 Pieces: 5 Minifigs: 1 Price: (free as part of 'May The Forth Be With You' promotion) Intro: I've always been impressed with the amazing reviews found here on eurobricks, and I've always wanted to do one myself... So thought I'd give it a go and start with a nice easy one! Here we have the Han Solo in his Hoth Outfit from Empire Strikes Back- which is this years promotional figure free with certain purchases from the Lego store. There has been a lot of debate/ controversy over the actual colour of Han's Hoth jacket over the years. Originally the Kenner action figure from 1980 had a dark blue jacket, which is the colour the jacket 'appears' to be in some shots of the film. When you actually see the prop jacket from the film it quite clearly is dark brown, and there have been many different action figures over the years since with either brown or blue jackets. To date Lego's version of Han has only been outfitted with the blue jacket, with just a change in design of hood to differentiate the two... But now we have a brown jacket version- which from what I have read on forums so far continues to cause debate over the 'true' colour of the coat. For what its worth I think I ultimately prefer Blue as the jacket colour, but thats mostly due to the memories of the old Kenner action figure which I still own from my childhood! Polybag: Usual Polybag with the Yoda header seen with all the current Star Wars products this year. Polybag Front and Back Its worth noting that despite the colour on the packaging the hood does match the jacket colour correctly- very strange that they left the image as is on the front... Polybag Contents Minifig: Not much assembly required as only the minifig in the set. We get Han resplendent in his Hoth outfit, along with a spare hairpiece so you can show Han with or without his hood. Unfortunately Han is weaponless in this set, so he's gonna have to rely on Chewie if he comes across any Probe Droids! Front, Back, and Alternate Faces Han has a really nice double sided face. One side has a great 'And I thought they smelled bad on the outside!' grimace on it, the other has his face covered and his goggles down for when he has his endure the freezing temperatures on Hoth. Comparison with Blue Coat Han My original Hoth Han is boxed away at the moment, but here is the New version (right) with the last Han (left) also with the new style hood. Han and his Tauntaun* (*Tauntaun not included in polybag!) And a couple of shots with Han and his Tauntaun in action! Ratings Now I know that from feedback I've seen that a lot of people think this figure is a bit of a letdown after the last couple of 'may the forth' promos. I would agree that he would probably have fit in better in the last Hoth set that got released, rather than an exclusive promotional figure. But that said I really like the figure so I've rated him highly, and as an original trilogy collector Im glad to have him in my collection. Playability: 10/10 Hard one to rate, but ultimately I think minifigures are endlessly playable so Im giving full marks on this one. Design: 10/10 No new parts, but I think the design on this latest update of Hoth Han really nails it. The double sided head is excellent as well. Price: 7/10 Well technically this is a free figure when you spend over a certain threshold- though these are already appearing in the wild. I got mine from a trade, so depending on what you spend to obtain this figure I would adjust the price scale accordingly. Minifigure: 10/10 Well the whole set is the minifigure, personally I really like him- so full marks again on this. Parts: 8/10 Nice that you get the spare hair piece so you can have Han with or without hood, but a blaster is sorely missed here. Overall Score: 45/50 Well thanks for reading my first review- let me know what you think of both the review and the figure. And I thought they smelled bad... On the outside!!
  24. As UKers are aware, there is a new Sun promotion on the way. If rumours are true it will be February half-term which is a holiday as usual. After collecting the last 2 Promotions, and trading most of them off, I am definitely looking forwards to this one and hopefully it will include the new Iron Man polybag as that is the last Avenger I require suit wise. I imagine a list will appear soon so this thread is to keep up to date with the rumours and confirmation of this and any future Sun Promotions. -TT
  25. I saw brickset had posted up a parts inventory for the forthcoming Robin and Redbird Cycle polybag set- http://www.brickset.com/detail/?set=30166-1 So thought id have a look to see what the set could possibly look like based on the inventory- obviously the listed inventory may not be 100% complete (it is missing the wheel hubs at least), and no idea if the actual set will look like this, but thought it was a fun idea to see what it may look like as I had the parts- Robin's Redbird Cycle by smokebelch, on Flickr
