  1. As you probably know, 28 previously rejected Lego ideas sets have been brought back on a crowdfunding basis under the bricklink designer program. Which bricklink designer program sets are you going to definitely back? (It would be good if someone could add a poll here but for now please just reply). Here’s the link to the program: https://www.bricklink.com/v3/designer-program/introducing.page

YER BEST CASTLE SET - ROUND 1 GROUP 6

So here are the results for the fourth voting: We will have a playoff later! Now onto the next round. I'll try to update the game as often as I can. Playing is easy, vote your favourite castle set among the one random.org proposes me. 216 left entries in the game. 2 go on, 6 are eliminated. ROUND 1 GROUP 6 is the following 4 days to vote in order to gather more people. Have fun voting! (Pictures here are just a reference, if you are unsure, google the set number, I'm presenting them in the poll in the same order I put them into the picture) You can reply here in the comments to tell me who you voted and why.
  7. So... what’ll it be?
  8. It's what it says on the tin really guys. I want new graphics to match the new banner size. I have some helpers waiting in the wings once I decide on the theme for the new banner image. I just need to know what you lot think! Have a vote, drop your opinion in here and discuss. Edit - Now that the All Themes option has won, I need to know minifigure choices! Who do you think should feature in the banner?
  9. Whether you're interested in the Marvel or DC Comics Super Heroes themes, which source material do you prefer seeing as the inspiration or basis for the theme's playsets? Share your personal preferences in the above poll or comment in the thread below to further elaborate!
  10. Title says it all... As for myself, I normally sort my sets' parts, then build it, then slowly disintegrate it...
  11. What's your opinion on Power Functions 2.0, and the potential that we may or may not have a separate receiver unit for the new system? Do you want a separate receiver unit like what we have currently, or do you want a combo unit composing of both a receiver unit and a battery box? Also, how important is a separate receiver unit to you? (Shoot. It appears the poll isn't working.) My personal opinion is the following. 1: Sort of. 2: Sort of. 3: Sort of necessary.
  12. Hello everybody. I may use this idea to refresh the game: do you want a game in which every minifigure faces only the one from its own series (excluding ELF and SCARECROW which would obviously win 3 and 11) and then doing a final mashup for the new winner? This could speed up both this and any future game. Please vote in the poll. HELLO everybody! These are the 80 minifigures for the new game starting FEBRUARY 10th if there will be enough partecipants. Please vote in this poll to help me decide. Thanks!
  13. With several recent sets, like 42070 and 42077, there has been a lot of controversy over looks versus functions. On the one side, are the people who think that Technic sets should have more emphasis on functions, and deride sets like 42077 for looking good, and doing little else. On the other side, there are the people who think that simple sets that look good are just fine, and "what the kids want". With that in mind, I think Lego should actually split off simple Technic sets into a reborn Racers theme. This would provide both groups of fans with what they want, and provide more options for consumers. However, can you even make a business case for a new Racers theme? I don't actually think so. But first, I'll make a case for a new theme, and then provide all of the reasons I don't think it will work. Lego has had, for the longest time, a Juniors theme by some name or other. Now, some people, myself included, might think that it would be unneeded to have a theme between Duplo and regular System, but Lego did their research, and Juniors exists, and sells enough to justify keeping around. Now, you could make the argument that the same could apply between System and Technic, but I say otherwise. I say that Technic should not focus on simpler models at all, and there is no need for a new Racers theme. Why? I don't know if I have the answer, but I have something. What is the point of Technic? What niche does the Technic line fill? I say the point of Technic is for authentic, technical models. That's not opinion. Lego themselves say that's what Technic is about. Not only do simpler models undermine the entire reason for being of Technic, they do no provide any meaningful step up from System sets, if they don't have any sort of draw. If you want a set that is playable, you get a City or Star Wars or other of those themes, and if you want a good looking model, you go with Expert Creator, or UCS Star Wars, or Architecture. So, where does that leave Technic? That leaves Technic as the line of models for machinery fans. Making Technic appeal to younger kids, in my opinion, is a mistake from a business standpoint. Lego already has plenty of themes to appeal to children, so I don't understand this mentality of "Every them has to appeal to everybody." So, that's what I think. But, you might say, wouldn't Lego do research on this? I say focus groups only go so far, and they can be done wrong. But, I say that there is no need for simpler Technic sets, as a large number of System sets are quite complex on their own, and moving Technic down would only cannibalize sales, as then they'd be competing directly with other System sets. I think that Lego needs to keep Technic more complex, and do more to keep people interested, rather than try to capture a market that is already well handled by their other themes. So then, why did i propose this question if I already think it's a bad idea? Because I am but one data point. I want to see what you guys think.
  14. Thanks guys! It was a nice game, not many partecipants, but that's it! Ahrrrrrr!
  15. It's been a while (1-2 months) since this problem was first mentioned, but it still hasn't been fixed. Just to remind everyone, the problem with the polls is that no one can use them - the answers don't save, and the results (of public polls) can't be viewed. Hopefully someone (maybe @Bonaparte, @Jim, or @Milan) can fix this... (or explain what's happening?!) By the way, I have added a poll to this topic as an example. Edit: That's strange... this poll works! Maybe it's just not working in the Technic forum - because I know it doesn't work there!
  16. I want to take a poll to see what percentage out there have a buggy motor. If you do just post yes or no if you don't own one. Disclaimer: this is my own poll and I will not use names or pictures, just the ratio of yes to no of owning a buggy motor. It may be to show that sometimes buggy motors might not be fair. Edit: I don't so I will factor that in.
  17. Comparison between 75121 Imperial Death Trooper and 75523 Scarif Stormtrooper. Photos are from Brickset. Notice the high level of detail these both have. The Death Trooper is on the left; the Scarif Stormtrooper on the right. Note: As "Shoretrooper" and not "Scarif Stormtrooper" is the accurate name for these troops, I will henceforth refer to 75523 as a Shoretrooper. Boxes: Both are $24.99 (or $44.99 in my region), but the Death Trooper has 105 pieces; the Shoretrooper only has 64. Therefore, the Death Trooper easily wins in terms of value. First, we shall compare their helmets. Both are amazingly detailed and enormously accurate, but the Shoretrooper has a better helmet in my opinion, as all the little dots representing battle damage are superb. Chest pieces! Both look really good and detailed, but I just slightly prefer the Death Trooper's because you can add and remove the pauldron. Speaking of pauldrons, it's time for the comparison of the pauldron and the faulds! Both look really good, but the Death Trooper's pauldron has more printing and has the bonus of 3 printed tiles which can be attached, so I think the Death Trooper's pauldron wins. However, it must be said that the Shoretrooper's faulds are really great too. Time for the legs! Shoretrooper wins this one. More printing on the lower leg panels, plus the addition of the great plastic faulds. One thing I do not like about them both is that they use dark grey feet extensions. Surely they could be made in black and brown? Another noteworthy thing is that the Death Trooper has 3L beams in his legs to cover up the holes, the Shoretrooper does not. Time for the Weapons! The Death Trooper has two weapons: A blaster and a pistol. The Shoretrooper has a double-barreled E-22 blastser. Both look really impressive, and thus I think it is a tie. The Shoretrooper's gun is more detailed than the Death Trooper's gun, as it has two shooting functions (missile AND stud shooter) plus a blue rangefinder on the side! However, the Death Trooper has the advantage of two weapons, minus the fact that the pistol doesn't look too good in his hand. The pistol can be clipped to the side of the Trooper's leg, however. VOTE TALLY: Value = Death Trooper Helmet = Shoretrooper Chest pieces = Death Trooper Pauldron vs Faulds = Death Trooper Legs = Shoretrooper Weapons = TIE Overall, the Death Trooper wins in my book, but only narrowly. Which do you prefer?

Thoughts about 75169 Duel on Naboo

Hello everyone! Today I will be sharing my thoughts on 75169 Duel on Naboo Photos are from brickset.com. I have yet to purchase this but I am sure that I will. Here is the box… Let's begin with the minifigures, arguably the main draw of the set… Qui-Gon Jinn is my favorite minifigure in this set. I do not have him yet, so he is good to have. The lack of a cape is excusable in my opinion as none of the characters in this scene were wearing their capes at the duel near the reactor shaft. I like the grey highlights on Qui-Gon's beard and his alternate face. The only complaints I have are that some of the printing isn't the best (the torso part which shows Qui-Gon's overly tanned skin and the leg printing). Obi-Wan Kenobi is my second-favorite minifigure in this set. I also do not have a Padawan Obi-Wan, so this is welcome. I stand by the fact that LEGO should make a new hairpiece for Padawans, as Obi-Wan's hairpiece in this set is grossly inaccurate. I do like his face and robe printing, however, but the same skin tan problem is present here. Darth Maul is definitely my least favorite minifigure in the set. His front torso, back torso, and leg printing are all excellent, and I like the Zabrak horn headpiece, but his face is awful. I know they were going for a grimace, but it ends up looking like a crazy Joker-like maniacal grin. On to the main build next… Does look like quite a mess, doesn't it? I wouldn't want this set if not for the awesome minifigures. Here, the play features are all visible, the Technic beam for the laser gate, the plasma purification chamber, and the reactor shaft with the catapult's lever jutting out. Laser Gate Function… Push the axle in, door opens. Pull the axle out, door closes. Simple enough. However, the laser gate is really inaccurate in my opinion and a drop-down, solid brick-built trans red panel would look better. Despite this, the play feature definitely works well. Here is the plasma purification chamber. It is really tiny compared to the humongous columns present in the scene. The clear piece can open and the plasma can be removed, however, it is evidently not too easy as the cockpit bubble cannot be opened too much. There is also a golden grille piece next to it. I personally feel the pink and the gold clutter up the appearance and color scheme of the set, though others may beg to differ. See? THOSE are the purification chambers. The LEGO one looks really tiny in comparison. There is a clear 6x6 radar dish piece to simulate a hole, but flicking the lever enables Obi-Wan to jump up… or at least it should. Check out JANGBRiCKS' attempt at it (though Maul's lightsaber did block the way for Obi-Wan to jump out in his review): The price… … is $24.99, which provides good value for just over 200 pieces. Verdict: So, do I like this set? Yes. I already said I want to get it. But why do I like this set? It is solely because of the figures. The build, whilst okay, isn't really all that great, and looks kind of messy to me. Therefore, in my opinion, you should get this if you want the minifigures. If you don't want the figures, I think this deserves a pass. But what do you guys think? Let me know in a reply
  19. Are the Star Wars prequels good or bad? Love them or hate them, Star Wars prequels are part of the saga. But why do you love them? Or why do you hate them? Do explain your stances. I find that the prequels had good storylines but the movie was filmed badly. Bad acting, awkward actors, CGI overuse… However, I read the prequel books before watching the movies, and I enjoyed the storyline, particularly Revenge of the Sith. It is clear that good filmmaking, not necessarily good storyline, is important for a successful Star Wars (or any other) film. In my opinion, the prequels had good stories while The Force Awakens did not; however, the Force Awakens had been filmed well while the prequels had not. Thus, The Force Awakens is generally more popular among the Star Wars community than the prequels. But what do you think?

    Lego Minifig collectors only!

Hello LEGO Minifigure enthusiasts! My study group and i, are currently doing a project about the company... ... Best regards Davidhasselhoff
  21. Robert8 usually does this, but has conferred upon me his blessing to post the poll this time, so... here we go! Let's see which projects in the LEGO Ideas review batch that closed earlier this week are the ones we think likeliest to become honest-to-goodness sets. We should find out in five months or so from this posting (give or take a few weeks) which of us were right.
  22. Hey guys! The overall opinion of G2 Bionicle across the fanbase is rather divided, so I thought it'd be interesting to make a Strawpoll to try and gauge what people from multiple communities (Facebook, Eurobricks, BZPower, The TTV Forums, Flickr) feel about the line. The poll is as displayed; To submit your answer, click here. If you don't wish to answer (or already have) and wish to view the results, click here. Once you've answered, please feel free to share the poll elsewhere to help get a larger sample size. Thanks!
  23. Hey guys! As my Techtroners LEGO SPACE pseudo subtheme becomes more and more known (and maybe even popular in a way) I am starting to think about some real important changes to the way I am designing my MOCs which would have really strong visual effect on my future builds...and yet would be pretty challenging too for me to design them in that way I guess! Many times some of you kind of "complain" (OK, I know it is not the best description of the matter but I am unable describe it differently...anyway I mean it really in a good manner ) that my MOCs may look fine but there is one thing that somehow ruins it all a bit: as I am basically "prototyping" new bricks' colors it is quite often not possible building such design for real because such brick colors simply do not exist, of course. Some other "complain" from time to time is also the fact that some of my MOCs look too complex = too many bricks needed for their construction with real LEGO bricks (in fact I was always adoring those older TLG designers - mainly those form 80's - that were able doing so much and big looking stuff with just "a few" bricks used like <400 for a big space station compared, for example, to my own designs...wow!) - my "normal" brick count is actually somewhere around 1000 +/-. So my question is: - do you think I should go the way of designing my future Techtroners MOCs FROM EXISTING BRICK COLORS ONLY AND NOT THAT COMPLEX (like, let's say, 500 pcs as maximum thus making my MOCs looking not that too many bricks and fancy anymore)? - or should I STAY WITH MY CURRENT APPROACH (thus making it looking somewhat amazing still BUT ppl would not be able build it in a designed way)? Please, show me your opinion in my poll if you may - I would be very thankful to you if you do! P.S.: this would have effect on all of my newly designed MOCs from 2016 onward but would not be taken to consideration to MOCs that are already designed but not publicly released yet (one can very easily tell when was one designed by my numbering: just look at the middle two digits of MOC's respective number - it is the year it designed! ). regards bublible
  24. Hey guys I would like to ask you helping me to choose one of my MOCs becoming my next/new LEGO Ideas project by expressing your thoughts (vote in a poll): please, see the poll and make your choice - thanx a lot! (fingers crossed hoping it does not break any EB forum rules once again ) So to show you what those MOCs actually look like, here are small thumbnails for each + direct link to their respective topic here on Eurobricks as all of them were posted here first (click on the MOC title for that). 691305 Decontamination Base 691522 Geckoentaur Traxformer 681502 Caterpillar Spacecraft 681501 Kozmik Tower Station 691512 Space Hydroasis Delta 691502 Intercom Repair Vehicle 691514 Scootoover Refill Dock 691513 Drone Transporter 691510 Wheeled Photon Plow 691509 Ionosphere Absorber
  25. I don't know it it's been asked, but I thought it'd be interesting to see what the Sci-fi community here thought of the different colour schemes from Blacktron I and Blacktron II. Which generation of the faction had a superior colour scheme? Do you prefer Blacktron 1's wasp-y colour palate of Black and yellow, in juxtaposition to trans-yellow "glass" and trans-red blasters or lights? Or do you prefer Blacktron Next Generation's palate of White, Black, and the spaced-out trans neon green for glass and blasters? Furthermore, what are your thoughts in regards to the addition of lime green in neo-blacktron Mocs? Yay or nay? I'm planning on doing something with Blacktron in the near future, and I was curious to see what others thought of the colour palates. ~Insectoid Aristocrat
