Hi all, since it's now published on Brick Model Railroader group, I can finally present also here in EuroBricks my second entry, this time in "MOW vehicle" section: You already know it from the WIP thread - it's a small little patchwork of two Fiat 600T/850T vans and a FIAT 500 499,5cc (21HP) motor. Here's the full story! And here's some bonus content!!! Presentation for Octrainber ends here , but there are some other photos: Transmission is on only one axle, as in the prototype, and it's using (again!!! ) the twisted rubber band transmission. The battery is a 200Mah Li-Po, connected to a small circuit in order to charge-discharge and manage the output to the motor. It can be recharged with an USB Adapter (in this case a serial to USB adapted I had at home). Hello, I build lego Trains (Virtual and real bricks) since 2008, and recently i though to myself, what a hell i don't have a odd maintenance machine. I'm honest, i don't know what are the name or some of these and what they are for, I just saw some images on google and try to make the most detail as possible.

"I've been working on the railroad, all the live-long day!" This train consists of a ALCO diesel locomotive (specifically a RSD-12 type) and six cars: - a (working!) crane car - depressed-center rail wagon - a (working!) ballast hopper - tool / worker bunk car - weed killer tanker - wide-vision bay-window caboose. The train model features several neat printed pieces found in several Juniors sets and and seven generic track workers. (as seen below) ...while the roadbed crew consists of: -Bucket-lift truck from set 3179 (Repair truck) -Dump Truck from set 7789 (Lotso's dump truck) Drill vehicle MOD from 7936 (level crossing) Front end-loader from set 7630 (front end-loader) ...and a official's inspection car MOC - not yet built This model was originally a ALCO MRS-1 built by Anthony Sava, but has been so severely modified that it no longer looks like the prototype loco. So I went searching And found another ALCO locomotive, a RSD-12 that looks like my loco. Both my model and the prototype have the six wheels, and the same basic hood and cab design. The long hood of the loco has been designated the rear with a double red light. (no picture taken yet of this car) This car is not your ordinary tanker car - it contains weed killer for use on the ballast the train lays down. This stream crane model was heavily inspired by Whoward69's instructions for a set of crane and match truck train cars. I modified the original model seen here. I originally meant for the crane to have ropes to move the boom, but it got confusing on which rope went where so for now it's moved by the H.O.G. (Hand Of God) method. The crane can spin around in 360 degrees and lift anywhere up to 90 degrees straight up. (Their is a double set of pins keeping the boom from going too low, as well.) Here we see how the crane is hooked up to the depressed center flatcar most of the time. The heavy-duty depressed-center wagon has brick-built arms to secure the cargo of railroad track in place. This model was inspired by a coal hopper on an older website called LGauge .com. I tunrned the old finger hinges into new pin-orientated ones and colored the car yellow to match the MOW paint scheme. The hopper's bottom door open and can dump 1 x 1 round plates / bricks onto the tracks for ballast. (no picture taken yet of this car) This is the workers tool car. In reality it's empty, but it's supposed to have rows of racks for tools, and a special box for broken tools to be fixed when they get back to the division HQ. The caboose features two ladders (one per side) and more of those fancy printed 2 x 4 tiles. This is where the job site foreman has a little office. The med kit is also located here. This is the headquarters for my Maintenance of Way operations for Brick Railway Systems. I was inspired by set 60009 (Helicopter Arrest) from 2013 for most of the building, while most of the inside details came from set 10027 (Train Engine Shed) in 2003 a whole ten years before the other set was even produced. As for the billboard on the roof, I borrowed the letter's design from my brother's model (with his permission), and put them on a billboard to spell out OCTAN. The tracks on the side of the building are for my ALCO RSD-12 and it's accompanying six car work train to sit and await their next task. The inside on the lower floor is furnished with a lathe, drill press, fire extinguisher, oil drum, and a vise. The upper floor (the break room) has a table, a few chairs, coffee machine (with paper cups!), fireplace, and a recycle bin. I will be updating this with the two missing pictures soon. Several years ago I posted about my project to build the Windhoff MPV. I updated the post last month with a few pics of the almost completed models. The models depict the electrification of existing train track for running of electric trains. The whole build project has been inspired by the electrification of the Great Western Trail Line in the UK using the Windhoff MPV. Last weekend I attended the Brick Event on the Gold Coast (Queensland, Australia). The table was a bit cramped but by talking to the public they were able to see the design and function of the machines. By the end of the first day talking to my table neighbour he convinced me that the 2 tables wasn’t enough for the display so to the floor I went. Originally I was going to build two MPV’s, but during the process I increased the build to three with the third having a container style build with some nice snot construction techniques for the drivers cabin. I was quite happy how this turned out. The Windhoff MPV’s were fun (even if it took me a while) to build, especially since I went 8-wide therefore creating the scale of 1 stud = 1 foot. This gives the models great detail and sense of scale. I coupled the MPV’s with a wagon using the same scale. The MPV’s feature ISO locking points at 10’ intervals and a small knuckle boom crane at the trailing end. The substructure detailing was fun to create, trying to get the detail right balance between ease of build (using the parts I had), Lego geometry and accuracy. I was able to get during the build a couple of 1x4 light grey tiles with a text on them looking like a serial number or build plate. At 70 studs long (buffer to buffer) I was unable to get the bogie set to rotate as it is fixed to the sub-frame structure, so running it around the track is a no go for me. The coupled wagons are 70’ (buffer to buffer) long at have ISO coupling points for 3x 20’ or 2x 30’ containers/pallets. I’m not 100% on the real world bogie spacing but again they are fixed and offer no rotation. As part of the display I had previous built MOW equipment (trucks and the work wagons created by other talented individuals) showing the electrification process. I designed my own catenary system and while I’m happy it has room for improvement. Stage 1 – footings The Robel Bullok and trucks prepare the site and the footings. Stage 2 - mast MPV #1 is configured for mast installation with a stylized cab, 10’ tool room, a frame for mast storage and a long reach crane. Stage 3 – minor structures MPV #2 is configured for minor structure installation with a stylized cab, 10’ tool room, a 30’ pallet with an elevated work platform, and knuckle boom crane. Coupled to this is a wagon which holds plenty of catenary structures and a knuckle boom crane. Stage 4 - Wiring MPV #3 is configured for wire installation with a snot container style cab, a 30’ pallet with an wire dispenser spindles and a knuckle boom crane, a 10’ section for more spindles and again a knuckle boom crane. Coupled to this is a wagon which has a 30’ pallet with an elevated work platform, and a 30’ pallet with a 24’ scissor platform. Stage 5 – testing The Plasser & Theurer MTW100 measure test and adjusts. As can be seen in the pics I used twisted wire. It was a great idea that didn’t pan out as I expected with too much twist and rigidity and the real stuff is held under tension which isn’t possible with my display. I have brought some other wire which will stay straight thanks to the youtube video hack.. There are plenty of small improvements to be made, but then no one is ever 100% happy….LOL None the less please enjoy the pics and let me know what you think. Hey guys. This isn't anything truly spectacular, but I wanted to share it anyway. I got ahold of three Lego 4200 Mining 4x4's and modified them for railroad purposes. I kept one stock, but added rail wheels and changed the tools. The second got a smaller bed and two tool cabinets, as well as two extra places for more tools, and the third got a cabinet and a small crane. I happened to see a Hi-Rail truck with a crane on it while at work, and the idea took off from there. I also BrickLinked parts to make the four new-style rail workers in the photo. Anyone else have some MoW equipment they want to show off?

I made a toy version of the Multi-Purpose Machine (MPM). Play features include a moving excavator with clam bucket. Here is my current project. The Windhoff MPV or miulti purpose vehicle. It has had several incarnations in its short life, firstly as the cargo sprinter now in the market of maintence of way. The english "great western electrication project" will use several of these to electrify the remaining 179 miles of rail from outer London to Cardiff. Prelim stats: it will be an eight wide train at an overall scale of 1:38.1 or 1 stud = 1 foot, overall length will be about 1.3m or 166 studs or 5.2 std baseplates There will be 2x mpv's along with the supply trailer. The MPV's will be 54 studs long plus buffers & the supply wagon will be 52 studs long. Been working on these for a while but finally finished. I have recreated two fantastic models. A Robel Bullok 54.22 and a Plasser & Theurer MTW100. The bullok i first found years ago in a Kibri model train catalogue. I loved it and wanted to build in Lego. I'm no master builder, so couldnt get my head around it. Anyway found this www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=288796. Again wasnt happy or confidant about it. Finally got my backside into gear this year. Here is my knuckleboom crane that was inspired by the SRS KRT20 semi trailer road rail crane. Still need to finish the stabilizers and others bits but i say its mostly there. As road-rail unit it can travel on both rails and the road. This enable it to travel to the work site without holding up precious track time. The crane has a reverse knuckle boom to enable works below the cantinery wires.or OLE (overhead line equipment) expandable counter weight at the rear. The double track wheels at the rear of the truck and trailer enable the loading of the whole unit from any road crossing up to 90 degrees. Watch the video to see it in action. I managed to squeeze a train weight into the trailer for extra support and ballast. This will be the first of a couple of SRS vehicles that i plan to build. I've been tinkering around in LDD to mash up a moc based loosely off of 2 lego city sets 3179 utility truck for tool storage 3677 hi-rail pickup, it must be able to ride the rails But. I frankensteined that idea by adding in a bit more 3221, because I wanted it to be a semi 4205, for its rugged off road look and ended up with is!
