  1. Cedrica - GoH 10 year celebration by Andreas Lenander, on Flickr A little birdie @Gideon whispered to me that the deadline had been extended so I couldn't really help myself from giving the Cedrica category a go as well... Never built in that style before so that was a fun challenge. Borrowed some inspiration from Jonas and Bart for the roof (man, that took way longer than expected...haha!). Of course had to include a tree as well . Anyways, hope you all like it!
  2. Finally got around to posting pics of this build that I made back when the contest was first announced...haha! As Mophet grew and traderouts became more established, the next logical step was to establish a port to the north/west of the city. The Arkbri river was fairly near as it was, and continuing to grow the relationship with nearby Barqa was essential to Mophets security. Thus, the city council decided to make the necessary investments to make it a reality. http://Port of Mophet by Andreas Lenander, on Flickr So this build is part of a collab of sorts between a few of us Swebrick members, depicting ports in different parts of Historica. Hopfully we'll all be able to display them together later this spring. Hope you like it, thanks for stopping by!
  3. Every child in Historica knows the story of Kaligem. The great city which was once the center of the whole continent, only to one day suffer the wrath of the gods... So for this challenge I had to do some research and finally decided to go with one of the most famous tales of old. This scene depicts the final moments of Kaligem, as the god Bonash called down his greatest fury. An enormous wall of sand that swept in and engulfed the city, forever burying it and transforming the surrounding environment to the huge desert we all now love! Thanks for having a look

    Meditation...

While most of his time is spent inside the Temple of Afe'aa together with his wife Kahina, Al-Zawj does enjoy travelling to a small temple on the southern shores of Kaliphlin to find peace and meditate.
  5. Captain Qa'Yid on one of his many journeys along the Arkbri, transporting some of the finest spices in the region to Barqa. His travels have made him a wealthy man but as we learned before, it does mean that he spends a lot of time away from home...
  6. So I know it was waaay to long since I posted anything here, but thankfully I have built a few things so time to post and make sure Kali is still the place to be in Historica . I believe @jtooker has kept us going and I hopefully I'll be able to lure @Gideon back sometime soon . Anyways, here's a build I made a while back for Bricknerd. It depicts the castle gate of Brik'neerd (super-clever name, I know). The castle is located south of Mophet and has been used as a trading post for centuries. Before Mophet grew, settlers in the area would take refuge inside the castle walls in times of peril. Thanks for having a look, hopefully I'll be a little more active going forward.
  7. The journey of Parzival Chapter I, part V Snakes of Mophet Previous Chapter: Chapter I, part IV - Outside the gates of Mophet Intro builds by @adde51 Tabibs Study Tabib and the crow (Picture above by Adde51) The next morning the slave trader and his men took the carriage and walked into the city of Mophet. It was crowded with people and creatures/beings inside of the city walls. Various strange smells, chatter, laughter and screams filled the air. They passed by buildings with streets and came to a square full of people. Z looked out of the bars and saw all kinds of people running around. On the other side of the carriage there was a camel looking into the cage drooling on the bars as they passed by. It was a lot to take in for the tired prisoners. The company came to a stop in a square. There was some kind of crowd ahead. "- What's happening?" Pointy asked "- I don't know. I can't see" Hoves side from the front of the carriage. "- Kraaah, be ready, be ready. Kraaah!" Crow said when he landed on top of the cage. "- Be ready for what?" Z said out loud. Left-eye turn his head and looked at Z with a confused look. "- What did you say?" "- Erm, nothing" Z said "- Boy will come, be ready, kraaah" A little boy came up to Z beside the carriage. "- Pssst, you" he said and looked at Z "- I've got a message for you. There will be a commotion ahead soon, don't mind it. Tell your friends to be ready. I will open the cage door and let you out. Then you have to follow me quickly down under ground. We only got a few seconds!" (Picture above by Adde51) Z told the others and they got ready. After awhile the crowd started to scatter and people started to scream. People ran past the carriage. They heard a lady screaming of fear and soon they all saw that the ground was full of snakes that were hissing and trying to bite the nearest persons. The snakes came closer to the elephant and the mage's horse and they started to back away from the snakes. On the other side of the open space they saw a large overturned barrel from which the snakes came out. The mage became furious and started to scream at the man. (Picture above by Adde51) In the commotion the little boy quickly picked the lock and opened the gate. "- Kraaah, hurry. Tabib will come" "- Follow me" The boy whispered. The slaves ran after the boy to a nearby building and into a small door. Inside the door were stairs down to the basement. (Picture above by Adde51) The mage became furious and he began shouting at his guards to protect him. The mage lifted up his staff and started to mumble. "- Stop! Lower your staff!" A voice in the crowd said out loudly. The people in the crowd stood aside and tall man with hair as white as snow and a long beard came out from the crowd and stopped midst if the snakes. The crowd whispered and you could here some say "- It's Tabib" (Picture above by Adde51) The mage became silent as he saw the bearded man. "- You don't rise your staff against any living creature inside the walls of Mophet!" Tabib said in a calm voice that made the whole square go silent. "- Get your filthy snakes away from us Tabib. I’m not afraid of you” the mage screamed. Tabib started to whisper in some odd language and the snakes meander back towards Tabib. “- In Mophet it’s not welcome to use faul and dark magic. Take you men and walk out of the city and go back to Nocturnus.” Tabib responded. “- I have a meeting by the fighting pits. We are not leaving.” “- What is a slave trader as yourself going to do there without any slaves to trade? Tabib said with a hint of a smile on his lips. The mage turned around and looked at the carriage and saw the empty cage. “- Noooooo!!!” The next chapter... The different builds For this story I had to get some help from my friend and fellow member of SwedishLegoMafia @adde51. Most of the builds is his that he has posted earlier (se below) I built the square and two houses. Then we put it all together for some awesome photos and an awesome part of the city Mophet. Zamorah Embassy in Mophet Since Zamorah opened up for trade with other regions in Historica they built embassies in many cities. This building has the Zamorah Weapon crest and sand green and white colours. Hidamus Family residence This is a house in Mophet Kaliphlin belongs to a wealthy centaur merchant family. In this MOC I tested to blend tan, teal and pearl gold and I think it was a great combo. Adde51‘s buildings Here you can see some of the pictures and links below to Adde51 builds here on GoH. 8. Although Mophet had grown, and become a place of increased wealth, not all of its inhabitants had mastered the ability to hold on to money... Al-Khuraq'a had just bet a substantial part of his surprisingly profitable cheese-shop on the ostrich-races and the outcome had unfortunately not been what he had hoped for...he wandered anxiously around his study while trying to figure out how to explain this little misfortune to his wife... Saw some amazing patterns by "the queen of cheese" Katie Walker and decided to try and make a little scene with some different mosaic patterns. I can assure you that making something like this fit within a certain border was tricky...making it stand in a window was...trickier...haha! Anyways, hope you like it ;)

    Midhana minaret

One of the more prominent landmarks inside the walls of Mophet is the Midhana minaret. Built a long time ago, it has been the focus of repeated renovations through the years which has given it a somewhat unique look in terms of the colourscheme. Another Mophet build, I know...haha! Got a bigger collab with @Zilmrud coming up in a little while so I gotta catch up on posting here
  10. Tabib had grown increasingly annoyed with the increased number of slavers that had made their way to Mophet recently. Although the badlands wasn't exactly known to be a gentle place, Tabib had very little love for this so called business. On this particular day, he found himself expressing his frustration to one of his crows. A little known fact about Tabib, at least for people outside of Mophet, was his somewhat unusual ability to sometimes communicate with animals. Tabib himself had never really thought about it as his father was said to have had the same gift, but he had come to understand that this ability was mostly reserved for people of Nocturnian decent... A little intro-build for an upcoming collab with @Zilmrud where his sigfig is coming to Mophet...
  11. The eastern gate of Mophet is one of the most recently built additions and as such, the aim for the rulers of the city was to illustrate the wealth that now flowed through the city. Because as any good salesman knows, image is everything... So this build started with me getting a hold of a bunch of the tan ingots from the local pab-wall and thought it might make for a cool border. So I started playing around a bit with it and decided to build a microscale gate. This is also my second entry to the 12x12 category for summer joust. I hope you guys like it, and thanks for having a look

    Mophet square

In one of the many gathering-places in Mophet, Ma'Zarie is selling some of his crops as part of the Mophet city guard rush to quell some unrest...On one of the balconies, the local fortune teller/con artist Eira'fa, is smiling with her usual smug look... More Mophet, haha! Had som fun designing the window on the tower for this one, hope you guys like it!

    Ab'Yad temple

One of the more serene places in the otherwise busy streets of Mophet, the Ab'Yad temple offers calm for all those who seek it. So this is my second entry to the summer joust, this time in the tri-color category. A lot of arches...
  14. Outside the southern coast of Kaliphlin, on the mythical island of Mubarazat Al-Sayf, the temple of Ya'Hum towers towards the sky... My entry to the 12x12 category for summer joust. The idea of using the wheel piece over the doorway of one of the buildings is insipred by an old build by SimonNH.
  15. The journey of Parzival Chapter I, part IV Outside the gates of Mophet Chapter I, Part I - The Wakeup Chapter I, Part II - The Arkbri River Oasis Chapter I, Part III - Desert Illusions Just before the sun went down they arrived to Mophet, a city in the desert. "Mophet is a desert oasis along the Oil Road in the Siccus Badlands. It lies about 0,5-1 days ride to the east of where the Oil Road touches on the banks of the mighty Arkbri River. It is strategically located right in between the two larger cities of Barqa and Petrea. It is a settlement which is expanding and its population has been constantly growing over the past few years." (Read more about Mophet in the wiki). Outside the gate to the city many tents, carriages, and other had camped for the night waiting for the city's gates to open in the morning. "- We stay here and make camp before the Dawn and the opening of the gate. Barchi! make some food for us and give the slaves the last of the dried meat. You can refill our supplies in the morning at the market when I meet the others". "- Of course my Lord!" The guard started to unpack a bag whilst the other guards sat down. Z looked at the guards when they sat outside the cage. For some reason Z didn't think they looked like real people. Their faces was hard as stone. He didn't think he had seen anyone of them make any expressions at all. They where like walking statues, or maybe like puppets. "- Have we stopped"? Pointy said and rubbed her eyes. "- I'm so thirsty" "- I heard that they are giving us some food.” Z said. “- That’s great news.” The guard came up top the carriage with some dried meat and bottles of water. The prisoners ate with great appetite. Soon they all lay down to sleep again. In the last rays of sunlight before the sun set Z looked at mage and the guards sitting beside the fireplace. He joined the others and fell asleep on the floor of the carriage. Later that night "- Kraaah, food, food!" Z woke up with a jerk, quite dizzy. “- Krahaaa, the stupid walker, got food!?” “- Is it you again Crow? I it ok if I call you that” Z said inside his mind. Crow looked down on Z between the bars. Z took a little bit of his meat and reached up and gave to Crow. He ate with good appetite. “Good meat, Kraaah” Crow said when he munched on the meat. “Can you help us?” Z asked cautiously. “Can you get help? We are trapped inside this cage!” “- Ask Tabib. Tabib hate slave traders!” “- Can Tabib help us? “- Tabib can help walker with magic neckless” Crow said and looked at Z’s cheast. Z looked down on his cheest. There was no neckless around his neck. Strange he thought. “- Kraaah, Crow come back, Crow help” Crow said and flew away in the night. Z leaned back against the bars wondering what this meant. The sun began to come up on the horizon and it was soon time to go inside the great city of Mophet Next Chapter
  16. At the residence of Qa'Yid, one of the more wealthy inhabitants of Mophet, all is not well... Qa'Yids work as a ship captain keeps him away from home quite a bit, and as a result of this, his wife has started showing a little too much interest in the pool-boy... Yet another addition to Mophet, more will follow . And a big thank you to everyone that commented on my previous posts, really appreciate it!

    Temple of Aiz-Tik

Kaliphlin is more than just a desert wasteland, there are pleny of regions where the Arkbri provides the land with enough water to flourish. One such place is the temple of Aiz-Tik. It is located north-west of Mophet and one of Tabib's oldest friends resides there. For generations, people from the different local tribes have made the journey there for guidance and advice. The high priestess is well respected by almost everyone in Kaliphlin and she has been an important ally to Mophet. With this in mind, Tabib felt it was important to visit her and ger her blessing regarding the expansion that had been taking place recently. To ensure safe passage from Mophet to the Arkbri, her approval was essential. So this is another Kali-build I did a while back and finally got around to posting. It is one of my biggest builds to date and measures 64x96 studs. I actually thought this one through a bit and built it in sections for "easy" transport (the foliage is toast no matter what...). I wanted to try and mix mesoamerican architecture with some middle eastern elements, hope you guys like it!

    Outskirts of Mophet

On the outskirts of Mophet, Na'zal is tending to his goats and ostriches. As the trade route between the city and the Arkbri river had been established, his otherwise solitary existence had been disturbed more than he appreciated...It did however present some opportunity for extra income, as many of the travelers needed a place to rest and eat on their way to the new port. "I guess you have to make the best of the current situation" Na'zal muttered as he went to about his business. So this is yet another addition to my growing city of Mophet in Kaliphlin. The build actually started with the green dome which I was able to find from a seller at Skaerbaek last year. Hope you like it, thanks for looking :)

    [MOC] Sheep-rider

The oversized sheep-race of El'yah, bred for decades just south of Mophet, have proven to be a real asset as cavalry in the desert regions. Although not the fastest animal around, their weight and aggressive demeanor makes them ideal for battle. So basically I found a big duplo sheep and just felt I had to use it, haha! Love the bulky look of those duplo-animals
  20. As planned, the settlement north of Mophet had grown rapidly. Proximity to the river made it fairly easy to secure building materials and given the strong trade-routes that had been established with Mophet, trade was abundant. Tabib had made the journey north and was very pleased to see the developments that had taken place in a very short period of time. The hope was to continue strengthening the ties to Barqa, while also establishing relationships with cities in other parts of Historica. Still need to flesh out the back-story a bit but happy to be building a bit more with water, haha! I hope to make a few more builds exploring the Arkbri just north of Mophet and I hope you guys like it so far. Thanks for watching
  21. Although mostly known as a sandpit (glad to be a part of it, haha!), some parts of Kaliphlin actually does contain water and some rather lush vegetation. The Arkbri river has quite a few smaller rivers and creeks running from it that are essential in supplying the otherwise barren landscape with water. Goats are well equipped in dealing with the harsh climate and although not too common (mainly because of the insane prices of goats in all of historica...), there are quite a few goat herders that call Kaliphlin their home. Some of them live a nomadic life, covering large distances while maintaining the well-being of their livestock. One of them is Mae'Iz, a somewhat grumpy man that prefers the company of goats over men any day of the week. He was particularly grumpy on this day as he had heard rumours about the current rise in population along some parts of the Arkbri river...Buildings had began to sprung up and a small community had even began to take shape as trade had increased in the region. So this is a little scene that I made to illustrate a bit of the surroundings north of Mophet, where the expansion is beginning to take shape... The bridge is made from a bunch of 4L bars with 1x1 plate with clips on each side. The whole thing is slightly bent to match the curve of the fence-pieces. Hope you like it
  22. As the city of Mophet had continued to expand, some would even say flourish, discussions began to take place regarding an expansion. The natural direction was north, towards the Arkbri river which was barely a days ride away. Although a great deal of trade was still being conducted along the oilroad, more and more people in the city had realized that the lifeblood of Historica was still the Arkbri river. On it, goods and resources could travel as far away as Mitgardia, with a significant reduction in risk that otherwise came with transport in the badlands. Tabib D'Odo had recieved an invitation from one of the more prominent merchants in the city to discuss this matter further...
  23. The legendary fighting elephants of Mophet have become a cornerstone of the army that protects the city. Large in size, and with thick skin, they are well equipped to handle the harsh climate and instill fear in anyone considering an attack on the now prosperous city.

    Tabib's study

Pondering the challenges presented by a growing city, Tabib D'Odo would often take refuge in his study to find some peace and quiet. His duties and responsibilities had increased dramatically over the past year as Mophet had grown from a quiet desert oasis into a rather large city. The previously scattered settlements and buildings had slowly merged together and a lot of new ones had been built. The walls of older settlements and forts in the region incorporated and renovated into proper city walls and with it, the formation of the official city guard of Mophet. All of this meant that a lot more things needed the attention of the leading members of the community, one of which was Tabib. All was not only pleasant with the growth of the city, as illustrated by the increased number of people with questionable motives that now frequented the markets and establishments. Tabib was especially concerned with the roumors that slave-traders had began to show up, transporting poor souls to who-knows-what. The matter had been discussed at length with some of the other members of the city counsil but some chose to look the other way as the trade did seem to generate a lot of revenue to the city. Tabib decided to write letters to some of the leading members of other prominant cities in Kaliphlin, hoping to gather support for tougher laws against this horrific custom. So this is a small vig I created to show the inside of my sig-fig Tabib's study. I came up with a design for the floor which I rather liked (see below for a small tutorial) and then tried to decorated the room with a few things to make it a little more habitable. Hope you guys like it. cheers.
  25. Given the influx of money and resources Mophet had experienced in recent times, a proper city guard was required to maintain the peace. Soldiers were recruited and trained and finally equipped with standard uniforms. Up until this point, the guards keeping some sort of peace in the city had consisted mostly of former soldiers who had ventured south in search for pay, and thus had taken with them whatever armour they had on them. The training was overseen by one of the more seasoned warriors, Muhar'Ib, a man not known for being "easy-going"... Not all of the recruits are quite as brave as the rest... Nor does everyone know how to keep their focus... So this is the latest addition to Mophet. I started out with the aim of making sort of a training ground, mostly because I got my hands on some of those new sheilds...haha! I came up with a design for arches which I was pretty happy with so I decided to add a tower in which to use them. I also wanted to try and use all those maccaroni tiles so I came up with a new technique for a roof which I used for the building on the left side. Anyways hope you guys like it, thanks for watching!
