  1. Since the 4th of June 2020 (so 2 days ago from this post), the website "mocpages.com" no longer exist! Mocpages has - without any media news/final warning from its creator Sean Kenny - simply been deleted. The plug has been pulled and there are no hints on mocpages.com ever being restored again. If you search for it now, you wont even find the official link that lead to it. It is now listed on "crunshbase" as a website that (used to) run. Many users left mocpages a few years ago for flickr.com, yet for those who remained and still actively posted on this website this certainly is a shock i believe. If data wasnt backed up, pictures saved etc - it seems all that data is lost forever now. Immediately after its deletion, TLCB posted an article that really sums it up well. Its worth the read. I just want to spread those news here on this Forum so you people are aware that this former milestone for the AFOL community with fond memories of contests and discussions has silently passed away... Apparently most people didnt even notice (yet) since i didnt find a Post on any AFOL forum yet. Feel free to share your fond memories you've had on mocpages.com!
  2. Many on this site either regularly visit MOCpages or have a page of their own. Ya'all know exactly what I am talking about...... Full story @ http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/426394
  3. Hello everyone, there is a contest, that comes around annually, and never ceases to impress, both with the fun from the participants, the difficulty deciding for the judges, and even the amazement of the viewers, of the the Middle Earth builds posted in the 5th annual Middle Earth Lego Olympics on Mocpages. I had the honor of helping set up the contest this year, and I am very excited for what is ahead, since the Mocpages forum is dying off, and we still want to have a competition that is fun, and challenging, we are advertising this contest on all other sites so that it can meet the expectations of the moccers on Mocpages. There will be six rounds, of different Middle Earth related such as Poems/Songs in the books and/or movies. Round 1 will be a free for all, which will be judges by 6 judges on a 1-10 point scale where the top 32 contestants will move on to the next round, then, from rounds 2-6, the rounds will be a one-on-one moc-off, where contestants will face off, and the judges will choose whose build they think is better. Please check out the contest by clicking the link below the banner: Mocpages Group Link!!!!!! Thanks so much for viewing, I hope you choose to compete, view, or donate to this great contest, no matter what you do, I hope you come along for the ride to Mordor! To God be the Glory!!!

    mocpages status

I am well aware of the history and pros and cons of mocpages. So, lets avoid the fodder of discussing such regarding this post. This is not meant to be a post about discussing how poor, or great, mocpages is. My question is simply, does anyone have information regarding the status of mocpages.com? I knnw it goes down somewhat often, but the latest unavailability has been longer than ever before. Also the error message one receives when trying to access the page is different than it has been in the past. Anyone have any information?
  5. I understand this post is better perhaps in the "Community" forum, but I already posted it there. Couple of responses..... little information so I am reposting it here. I know there are many who, (like me) rarely go to the community forum and therefore may never even see the post I placed there.... so forgive me if this is redundant.... Jim, if you want to delete I understand. But.... perhaps someone has some answers. But..... does anyone know the status of Mocpages.com? It has long had its fair share of problems, and please no responses regarding how much they hate or love the site, this post is not fur that purpose. But although it goes down frequently, this time it is down longer than ever before. In addition, the error message one receives when they try to visit the page is different than ever before. Does anyone know..... is the site down completely?

    Social media and Lego

Kinda hard for me to decide where the share this. I primarily work with Technic for building MOCs, but occasionally I build with system bricks so I will take a more general approach and post it here. I won't post too many details here.... because I have already done a full write-up about the topic of discussion here: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/422976 Essentially, many of us love to share our MOCs on social media sites. There are many. I use Mocpages. Love or hate it (and there are many reasons to hate it), that is what I use. Not going to discuss the pros and cons here. But, I think it is fun to examine the "liveliness of a MOC" by the views it gets through time. Not "likes" - but views. "likes" die off to nearly nothing over time, even for the most popular MOCs, and not even available on many sites (brickshelf, etc.). But views give us much to look at, even if a MOC is very old (posted a long time ago). So, I examined my MOC submissions this way. I looked at the relationship between time and views for my mocs. Kinda fun, I recommend others do the same. I know there are many more sophisticated models and procedures to look at this relationship, but I focused on simplicity to maximize the availability of such an examination to many people. Fun to see what our most "lively" (aka... IMO best) builds are..... Dang it.... just realized there is a specific area for "multimedia" and this section deals with primarily "media" as in video games. If there is an administrator that sees this post, feel free to move it to a more appropriate forum area.
  8. *sigh* Mocpages.com has been down for nearly 24 hours now. Earlier this week it was also having huge problems with showing pictures. There have been lots of problems in the past as well...... I know there are many users, particularly in the Technic arena, that use the site. There are many benefits, IMO, over other sites such as Flickr or brickshelf. One of which the opportunity to actually provide more information, narrative, etc. to your builds, comment receive likes, etc...... post youtube videos, and more. But, I wonder of the long-term viability of the site. Why so many problems? Is it a sign of the overall crashing and dying of the site? Does anyone have any inside information about the long-term viability of the site? I know there are alternative sites, so providing those on this thread really won't be of any use. Or preferences of others. That is not the reason of this post. I have looked into others and I simply like mocpages the best..... but if it is dying and will be one day die completely..... then even though I like it I will be forced to use other sites to share my stuff. Any thoughts, inside information, or comments about my specific question?

    MOCpages video

MOCpages used to allow embedded videos. I have done it before with success. However, when I embed a video, it says it is no longer allowing iframes. Does anyone know what this is all about? How do I add videos now in MOCpages?

    MOC: Batman Returns

Batman Returns This build was made for the MocAthalon contest over on Mocpages. My team is Cheeseburger Standoff. Anywho, this creation was built for the movie poster category, and depicts none other than the sweet 1992 poster for Batman Returns starring Michael Keaton, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Danny DeVito. More images can be found on the build's Mocpage. The creation is based off this poster: Build Time: 10-15 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo

    MOC: March of the Ent

March of the Ent I'm back with my round four creation for Mocpages' Middle Earth Lego Olympics. This round again focused on characters, and my assigned character was Treebeard. I made a rather wispy lanky version of Treebeard, which I think look rather cool. Build Time: 10-12 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo

    [MOC] On the Hunt

My entry to Round 2 of The Tourney 2015 over on MOCpages. It would seem that the "wild boar" my character is chasing may not be as wild as he originally thought.

    [MOC] Fighting of the Gundabad

My entry to Round 2 of the 2014-15 Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. I was tasked to build a scene with Fili as the focus. His best scene is at the end of An Unexpected Journey when Bilbo is about to get killed while protecting Thorin, and he (along with Kili and Dwalin) rush in to save them both. You'll find more pictures and a lengthier description here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/404861

    [MOC] Scouting

My entry to Round 1 of The Tourney 2015 over on MOCpages. This depicts my character scouting out a potential route for a race.
  15. My 2nd Entry for the 2014-2015 Middle Earth Lego Olympics. The theme for this Round was The Hobbit characters and for my category I was given Gandalf. Gandalf the Grey, later known as Gandalf the White, also known as Mithrandir (Sindarin-"White Pilgrim" or "Gray Wanderer"), was a wizard, or Istar, sent by the West in the Third Age to combat the threat of Sauron. He joined Thorin and his company to reclaim Erebor from the dragon Smaug. For this entry I decided to build a brick built figure of Gandalf, trying to go out of my comfort zone, as I have never done brick built figures before. In this build I was attempting to portray Gandalfs and Bilbos meeting at the start of the The Hobbit film an Unexpected Journey. During there time together Bilbo spoke to Gandlaf "Good Morning" and Gandalf replied; "What do you mean?" he said. "Do you wish me a good morning, or mean that it is a good morning whether I want it or not; or that you feel good this morning; or that it is a morning to be good on?" "All of them at once," said Bilbo. I wanted to portray a scene which identifies a concept of Gandalfs personality, even though he is down to earth and tolerant about serious situations, Gandalf still has a great sense of humor and creates some brilliant comic relief within the books and films. Hope you guys enjoy :)

    [MOC] Frodo's Choice

This was a back-up entry to the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics on MOCpages. I built it before hand just in case the entry I actually submitted (which you can see here: http://www.eurobrick...00#entry2103221) didn't work out. :) The category is to take a song from the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies (this one being "May It Be," which is played during the credits in Fellowship of the Ring) and interpret it into a build. I don't really have thoughts on why I chose this scene, other than the fact that whenever I heard the song, this one always came to mind. :)
  17. My entry for the 2014-2015 Middle Earth Lego Olympics My entry is based on the game Middle Earth; Shadow of Mordor In Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor, you take on the role of Talion, a valiant ranger whose family is slain the night Sauron and his army return to Mordor, moments before his own life is taken. Resurrected by a spirit of vengeance and empowered with Wraith abilities, Talion ventures into Mordor and vows to destroy those who have wronged him. Through the course of Talion's personal vendetta, he uncovers the truth of the spirit that compels him, he learns the origins of the Rings of Power and ultimately confronts his true nemesis. Hope you guys enjoy :)
  18. "I'm Going on an Adventure!" This creation was built for the second round of Mocpages' Middle Earth Lego Olympics contest. I succeeded in passing through the first round with my previous creation "No Loyal Friend", which has me currently ranked first in the contest. Anywho, the category for round two was Characters, with mine being selected as Bilbo Baggins. So I decided to build a creation that depicts the moment at which Bilbo drops his everyday life and runs towards his adventurous journey. Build Time: 3 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo

    MOC: No Loyal Friend

Ahoy! I'm sharing with you today (In the Historic forums, which is really out of character for me!) a Middle Earth contest creation that I built for the Middle Earth Lego Olympics (2014-2015) on Mocpages. For Round 1, we were asked to build a creation inspired by one song from LotR/Hobbit, and I chose to build my rather abstract creation based on which you should please listen to while you are viewing this creation. The build depicts Gollum having acquired the One Ring by strangling his cousin for it, and then being enveloped in the darkness that lives inside the ring. Build Time: 2.5 Hours Enjoy! ~Nemo

    Edge of Night

My entry to Round 1 of the Middle Earth LEGO Olympics over on MOCpages. The category is to take a song from the Lord of the Rings/The Hobbit movies, my choice being "Edge of Night," performed by Billy Boyd (Pippin) in Return of the King, and interpret it into a build. :)

    MOCpages help

Hello All, Although this is probably more appropriate for MOCpages forum, the forum has little activity and is not nearly as cool as eurobricks! -- so I am posting my question here. I know that many are members of MOCpages so I am looking for a little help. I am about to post a new project (on mocpages) but all my last projects, when I post the photos are small except for the main photo. Now, one can click on the image and it will blow up, but the initial impression that people get is a small photo. This has not always been the case, and I have not changes anything about how I post the pics (see my unimog versus my rockcrawler in yellow; initially, (crawler) the photos are all large, but the unimog, all the pics other than the main one are small). They are of good size for web pages (around 600x800) so the actual size of the pic is not the problem, and from my memory I have not changed the size of the pictures that I post. I want my pics to be posted around the same size of those seen on my rockcrawler (yellow) project. You can see all the pictures that I am referring to on my pages (see signature block). Did MOCpages change something? I would just put each pic here but it will not show up the same size as it does on my page, you have to go to my page to see what I am talking about. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks!

    Winter Village: Holiday Cafe

My Entry for the "Winter Village" Contest. For my entry I decided to create a Holiday Cafe Moc for Santa's Village. People come from all around the world to experience the great tasting Coffees and Hot Chocolates from Santa's Village. More pictures will be available on my MocPages account; http://www.mocpages.com/home.php/101914 and my Flickr account; https://www.flickr.com/photos/120920417@N06/ I hope you guys enjoy this, please leave a comment, Thanks :) Sorry, but I'm not sure how big the photos actually are, if this is a violation of the "Winter Village" rules please let me know and also please tell me how to identify how big a photo is.

    MOCpages down?

Hey there, I don't know if this is the right place to put this topic in. But if it isn't, feel free to move it. You have to bare with me for a moment. I'm quite new here lol. As much as I love this forum, It seems to me that Mocpages is down. Or atleast I'm having problems getting onto the site. All of the other websites in my favorites work fine and I'm connected to the internet. Everytime I try to get to mocpages i keep getting Internet Explorer cannot display the webpage. I tried refeshing it several times and I still get the same message. I even used google to find the link to mocpages and when I click the link, I still get the same message. Its just weird because mocpages was working fine this afternoon. Its starting to frustrate me because I have some new mocs to post there so I can show them here. If you go to mocpages, does anyone else experiencing the same problem? Is mocpages gone or being updated? Heres the link to try for yourself. www.mocpages.com

My First Steps Into a Brave New World

A little about me - I'm a young AFOL, my favorite pastimes are Lego building and constructing falsehoods (whether writing or playing tricks), I love castles and I'm ready to go beyond simply watching the excellent builders here and start joining in the fun. To share a little more about myself, I've chosen some of the pictures that best display my tastes and building style (or lack thereof...). IMAG3080 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr This is my latest project, an experiment in economical tan stonework and landscaping. More details are available here: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/382467 image by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr This is my icon (or it would be if the system wasn't fighting back): Gilbert Despathens, a one-eyed vagabond in a pith hat. This might be a good time to mention that I use a pseudonym for my Lego building. IMAG0225 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr IMAG0228 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr These are partial images of my favorite MOC to date, a tavern interior. Again, find a complete overview on MOCpages: http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/380175 IMAG0175 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr IMAG0162 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr This scene and figure were inspired by the 2013 Tomb Raider game and tied for first place in their bracket of a minifigure contest. This build also includes (closer to the bottom) my original sloped-rock technique. IMAG0123 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr IMAG0107-1 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr The space pirate and his ship were the top choice in another bracket of the contest. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/379243 The archer, however, was the winner overall - and she used only purist parts. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/379146 IMAG3018 by Gilbert Despathens, on Flickr This was an experiment in landscaping. http://www.mocpages.com/moc.php/381670 I have a lot more on MOCpages, but there is plenty to come in the future and I intend to start sharing it here. Until next time, keep building!
  25. I am not a huge fan of MOCpages however it is hard to deny that they have some interesting contests happening over there. I'm sure that many of you have heard of the MocAthalon contest, but if you haven't, it is a competition in which there are 30 different categories in which to build. Each team will try to build in as many of the categories as they can. Each team is compromised of 5 members. Here's a link to the group on MOCpages. Is anyone interested in creating a EB team to steal the gold medal? If so comment here or send a PM!
