[MOC] MAZ 7310 Uragan Cargo Truck

Ladies and Gentlemen, Boys and Girls, BEHOLD: The Mighty MAZ 7310 Uragan Cargo Truck, in LEGO! This massive set, which I have designed over the course of two years, stands almost ten inches tall, two feet long, and is comprised of almost 7,000 pieces. I sat at my computer for hours a day, sometimes, surfing the web, looking at blueprints, building, deleting, building some more, etc. And now, finally, I can reveal my masterpiece to the world! Bwa-ha-ha! Okay, anyway, I have designed my set for maximum playability, stuffing it full of all sorts of awesome goodies, like opening hood, doors, tailgate, and utility boxes. A removable roof, folding rear seats, free-spinning wheels (including the steering wheel), two Diesel engine options, a generator, compressor, radiator, Master Mechanic's Toolkit, fuel and water drums, 12v batteries, large cargo container, winch, wide-load flags, roof racks, warning beacon, fog lights, two sets of mirrors, lightbars, and more! (Whew! I'm out of breath!) Now, for the real machine: The MAZ 7310 (Minsk Automobile Plant, in Russian), was a large 8-wheeled Missile Transport truck built in the 1950s and 60s. Soon after, people started using them as cargo trucks, tankers, tow trucks, and airport fire trucks. Alright, that's it! Thank you all for looking at my LEGO creation! Update: Also, some of you may have noticed that the cab of the real vehicle is slightly longer. This is true, I had to shorten the LEGO version out of necessity, as the extra length could’ve affected my MOC’s stability and structural integrity. I suppose I could probably figure it out eventually, but I like it how it is. Thanks for understanding! -
So.. I started trying to assemble some of my older lego sets from my giant box of mixed pieces from various sets i got throughout the years. I knew i had the pieces to the Mobile Defense Tank from Lego Exo-Force. So i looked up the instructions booklet on the interwebs and came across something pretty confusing. First look at the front box image. Now look at the finished version in the instruction booklet from LEGO's official site. Notice something? Yes. The Bar between the tracks is missing from the actual build. The bar can be slightly be seen on the rear tracks also, on the box image, but they are not in the actual build. There's more... Things got even more weird, because it turned out that i have been following two different instruction booklets... On this website: http://lego.brickinstructions.com/lego_instructions/set/7706/Mobile_Defense_Tank I found the instructions in the image below. These instructions show, that the bar between the tracks is put into place. But on the instructions you can download as PDF on top of the page, the bar is not included. The bar is not included in the instructions on LEGO's official site either. Looking through both instructions, there are actually a few more things that is different. The build of the canopy varies also. Even the parts list in different. Now... Can anyone explain what is happening? I have been browsing the interwebs for hours, trying to figure out if there is more than one version of this build but i cannot find any evidence. Did they change the build over time or what is happening? I really hope someone can explain this to me.

[TC8] Folding Crane

TC8 Folding Crane (not yet finished) I think it's about time to show what I have been secretly working on in the past weeks. It's not done yet, but it's getting there and I feel that this time, things might just work out. As you can see, it's not finished. The biggest question mark right now for me is, where to put the winch that will unfold the jib. There's no room anywhere! :D Of course, I'll be showing the unfolded state later (when everything works). So, what does it do? The carrier has two functions: 1. steering on all axles, driven from a gear on the back. Central axle has half the angle of the other two. 2. outriggers, all connected, driven from a gear on the back. Outriggers are the same system as those in 8460. There's no engine - no room. Slewing the superstructure is the same mechanism as 8421 - manual. The superstructure has two winches. 1. lifting the main boom 2. extending the main boom Both are worm-driven, to prevent backdriving. A third winch has to be fitted somewhere to unfold the jib. This will probably end up somewhere on the boom - there's no space on the supersturcutre to add a third worm-driven winch. Unless, maybe, I sacrifice the paneling. Last jib section has to be put on by hand. The actual crane winch and hook are also still to do. Might be that I make the last jib section a bit shorter to keep things in proportion a bit. Also, the controls for the crane winch might also be simple and close to the function itself. Controlling everything from the base is simply not possible. Sets do this too, so I don't see it as a problem. Building a decently-working folding crane is high on my wish-list for quite some time (think years), so I really hope I can get everything to work this time. I all goes well, I might do instructions (but without the strings). I keep a digital file, which tells me I'm at about 1400 parts right now. Any tips are welcome, especially as to where to put that winch :P -
Can LDD be installed on external Harddrives?

Hey Guys,i wonder if LDD can be installed on external Harddrives so it doesn`t need to be installed on a Computer.I ask because a Friend who works as a Security Guard would love to use it during Breaks at Work or between patroling through the Office Building he works in.The Computers in the Counter can be used freely for the Security Guards but of course you can`t install or download anything on these Computers for security Reasons. -

Hello, I'm working on a new lego styled puzzle game and was wondering if you like the graphics or maybe have suggestions? I implemented hard shadows, but maybe soft shadows would be better? First MOC post here as a new member, but I've been around other parts of the 'net for a little while... Anyone hoping for a PF behemoth from the title might be disappointed to find a 10-wide minifig scale model, but it does work! Liebherr LTM 1130 - 5.1 by TechnicNick, on Flickr It's got progressive rate steering on all five axles and the four stabilizers emerge together. These two functions are controlled by gears on the back. Boom luffing, extension (3 sections) and hook have controls on the body of the crane. In case you guys don't know, Thunderbirds was a 1960s era TV puppet show that later became a cartoon and then a live-action movie. This is the Mole, a drilling/rescue vehicle. Turning the back of the drill portion spins the drill. The drill itself can be rotated downwards. What do you guys think?

I recreated the SDCC 1966 Batmobile from the one picture that is available, and than extended it to it's proper size. The included figs are the ones from the Juniors set. I have no clue what the real back looks like, so I guessed... if anyone has it could they please take a shot of the back of the model? Thanks in advance! For some reason, I don't get the mobile version of Eurobricks when checking it on IE10 with my WP8. Mobile version is enabled in the browser settings. It does work on the Invision website, though, so I guess it's not an issue of the board software but there is a setting that needs to be tweaked. -Gata

Had fun playing with this idea I had for a mosaic after seeing a hanging mobile that formed an image when the display swung around just right. Ideally this is hanging from the ceiling with strings but you get the idea. The file is little big so the link goes to flickr. Enjoy! Dear Gods of the Universe Eurobricks! Everytime I visit (or post; didn't figure it out yet) a topic, that I follow, via the mobile site, I do not follow it anymore after that, thus I do not receive the email notifications any more. I think others have the same problem. As I use the mobile site pretty often, it is very annoying. Do you guys have a chance of looking into it? Using Safari on iPhone 4S with iOS 6.0.1 (10A523).

Is it possible to control PF motors using a mobile phone with appropriate application? Is there already some solution? I have found, that there are some audio jack based IR transmitters (like this) that can turn even a mobile without IR port into a IR controller. PF receivers operate at 38kHz. Principle of these audio based IR transmitters is simple - it is enough to play a proper audio file. Application should be able to generate proper audio signals based on the controls touched by the user on the mobile screen. From this point of view also the application is quite simple, once proper signals are known (in extreme case they can be recorded from the original PF transmitter). Does it make sense? Will it work? Or is there a better solution? That audio jack based transmitter contains actually only two IR diodes and some resistor to protect them. From this point of view, they are highly overpriced.
