  1. Hello to everyone... After some modular buildings i decided to concentrate on some cars to put inside my town. But now, after a few attempts, I'm almost stuck. I hate 4 studs-wide Lego cars, they are mono seater, and it make no sense to me as well as being out of scale with the buildings. However, even making them 6 studs wide then the trucks should be from 8 or 6. But if you want to put 2 minifigs inside the car you have to make it 6 studs wide. It's a big problem. So I tried to make a Mini 6 studs wide, obviously, but in the end what I got is not satisfactory because it is higher than a standing minifig and quite disproportionate to the measures of the minifigs. Even if I'm very fond of lego minifigs, I must say that often their proportions complicate all the job. :/ What did do when making cars, what's your decision?
  2. Hi guys~ I'm trying to customize my legos. but I'm having trouble to find minifig's legs dimension. I just found front and side dimensions of legs. I'd like to apply decals to back part of legs. however, I can't get the dimension.. does anyone know about this? or is there another way of solving this decal issue..?
  3. I am happy to announce that the 2015 LEGO Minifigure Catalog is now available. In addition, the 5th edition of the Star Wars LEGO Minifigure Catalog and the 2nd edition of the 2014 Minifigure Catalog are ready. The updated catalogs have have many corrections and additions. Moreover, all books have a new QR code system that allows you to easily look up each figure online. Soon our app will also feature a QR code reader, so that you can directly lookup a figure into the app. Enjoy!
  4. I have been in a process where I have sorted through and assembled +3000 minifigures and I have noticed something: I have noticed a difference or perhaps a "new" sub-variant in the old yellow heads with the solid stud and drawn face. I have tried to photograph it - sorry about the poor quality. The one I am talking about is the right one, where the "jawline" (bottom curvature) are less rounded than the normal 1978-1989 heads, making them more "square". They are quite easy to spot in a cluster of mixed solid heads. To give an idea about the "rarity": Out of the around 3000 heads I sorted, I found around 250 yellow heads with a solid stud. Of those were half "solid plains" (no face) and the other half "solids with face". And out of these "solids with face" were about 20, these "solid squares". They are marked similarly to the normal "solid with face" (same type font on top and same markings inside). They seem to come with two different types of printings - thick and thin face pattern - similar to the normal "solid with face". I have been unable to find any info regarding these heads and I have also been unable to find them on Bricklink. Does anybody have any information where these were used or for how long?
  5. The Adventures of Professor Boom (part 1) by Luis Baixinho, on Flickr This is a small vignette that I made for a contest at my LUG, Comunidade 0937. I have plans to use this minifig in other situations.

    MOC: The Blacksmith

And another castle MOC! Here's my latest work The Blacksmith: Near the center of the village sits the home of the village blacksmith. Working out of a small shop connected to his house, the blacksmith provides trustworthy work to the local farmers, soldiers, and craftsmen who need a horse shoed, a plough sharpened, or a tool repaired. The sound of his hammer striking metal can be heard throughout the countryside, and the cozy outdoor shop often serves as the site of friendly socialization and sharing of news for the village residents. Another build incorporating the technic-pin roof technique I've been playing with. I love the way it looks and the versatility of it's shape, but it can really be a pain to work with. Also, building houses is kinda hard...getting the roof shape and building proportions right can be complicated. Something I need to practice more. Thanks for looking! Soli Deo Gloria!

    MOC: Nick's Next hotdog place

Here's a MOC I made of the best hotdog place in Western MA! Nick's Nest is located on Northampton St, Holyoke MA, USA. Nick's Nest is famous for its hot dogs, baked beans, popcorn and frappes (milkshakes). Nick Malfas started his business in Northampton MA in 1921 with a popcorn pushcart. In 1927, he opened a restaurant just 50' away from where it is today. This building and interior are from 1948. The hot dogs are still made from the original 1920s recipe combining beef, pork and spices with no fillers. It's one of those places where they put the condiments on the hotdog for you (you're not allowed to do it yourself!), and they have a great selection of fries, beans and sodas. Here it is in real-life, so you can compare: And a view of the interior: Available on MOC-Pages: http://www.moc-pages.com/moc.php/423772 This will also be on show at both the Amherst Railway Show at the Big E Fairgrounds in West Springfield MA Jan 30/31, as well as BrickFair New England in Marlboro MA in May 2016.

    Faun legs?

Hello everybody :) I have to say I was quite disappointed when I found out how little the new faun legs can bend towards. I think the angle could be increased modifying the wais piece, removing the part highlighted in purple in the image below. I still haven't tried myself, and I don't know if I will. Do you think this modification could produce undesired effects? Maybe loosen the legs since there is less friction?

    [MOC] Skater Vignette

Due to a more relaxed atmosphere during holidays, I was able to bust out my LEGO collection after almost a year of inactivity. While current MOCs are not presentation-ready, I've been meaning to share some of my old vignettes. Hereby presenting Grinding Skater Vignette, with CMF Skater Boy doing his favourite railing grind trick. C&Cs welcome!
  10. Here's our other release: A hero without fear, a protector in the night, villains beware - Demon Vigilante is here! One of two new custom minifigures available, Demon Vigilante will feature front head, torso, and leg printing, as well as back torso prints - all in glorious pad printing by professional printers. The coolest features of this fig are: a) the wrap around leg printing (featuring a holster on one side) and b) the dot pattern throughout to give that feel of texture to our hero's suit. He will come armed with two black LEGO light sword pieces for weapons, as well. Thanks again to HJ Media for producing this great render! What do you guys think? Demon Vigilante

[MOC] The Death Of Jason Todd

  17. I'm sort of keeping up with the organised rewatch of X-Files (netflix / DVD / whatever) leading up to the new 6-part season in January (s01e12 Beyond the Sea up next for me). Anyway, have been inspired to make some LEGO X-Files related vignettes and scenes (Mulder's office is the first big one planned). Haven't started on the builds yet. But I got a few parts in the mail today from Bricklink, so have a few trial minifigs whipped up - Mulder, Scully, Deep Throat (though he may end up becoming the basis for Cigarette Smoking Man), and Cecil the pyro dude from "Fire" (s01e11). All purist so far, but may get custom handguns and flashlights... and crazyarms to enhance the figs.
  18. Hi everybody! :) I'm new to the forum and wanted to share my latest MOC, and in doing so I hope to start a discussion on the set that I've designed and I'm sure that there will be some really interesting dialogue as a result of this. To get something out of the way (and quickly), this set is my very first Lego Idea and as of today it is live - please support it if you think it has merit as a potential Lego set! Monster Miner / Wheel Loader And now, some reflection on the process that led to this model and some thoughts about Lego in general! I'm almost 33 years old and have been mad about Lego for as long as I remember. I love to create things with Lego, and for about 25 years now it's always been Technic-style diggers and cranes, sometimes other construction vehicles, all with functioning gear trains and realistic movements. I'd say that this set I'm sharing here today is the culmination of between 25 and 30 years of Lego experimentation and prototyping. and I just feel that every aspect of this set has "clicked" (pardon the pun) and I'm so happy finally to be able to include a little bit of everything in one big, imposing set. My thinking on Lego today is that there are many sets which don't look very Lego-like (certainly in the MOC realm), and I'm confused by that. Why conceal the medium that makes Lego what it is? With this model I decided to embrace Lego as an educational childs toy (which is what it is, first and foremost), so instead of concealing all the studs and making this more of a replica and less of a toy, I have tried to retain the inherent Lego-ness and sturdy playability of the exterior whilst presenting an equally impressive and more grown-up sort of "model" that would appeal to teenagers and even adults. Basically, it's Lego city, Lego Technic, Lego Model Team etc. rolled into one. Whether that works or not... is up to everybody else! So what do you folks think? Must Lego sets be "niche" products if they are to succeed as merchandise, or is it possible to stretch things a little and cater for more than one market with just one set? To put it another way, I reckon this is the set that I wanted to find in the pages of the 1990s Lego catalogues, especially at the back, in the Model Team section. That's why I built it. Is it just me, or is there intrinsic appeal in this sort of set that straddles the fence delineating different Lego lines? Here are some more pics which may or may not influence your input!
  19. Hi< I was just wondering if anyone knows any places to buy specific minifig parts? such as hair pieces or torsos?
  20. Hey guys, I completed the printing of my next custom minifig, and this is one several of you on this board have been waiting for the past few years. My first Assassins Creed-inspired custom minifig, Pirate Assassin! Let me know what you think in the comments below, and be sure to check him out at my website (link is in my signature below) Here's the info on him: Pirate Assassin Front Side Back Side Second Face Printing Description: Based on the popular game character, this fig features high quality 360 degree digital printing, custom made BrickWarriors accessories (a white Rogue Hood and Hidden Blades) - EXCLUSIVE TO THIS FIG, along with a BrickArms flintlock pistol and a Lego gold handled cutlass sword. I'd like to give a BIG thank you to Ryan at BrickWarriors for his professionalism, his ability to collaborate so well, and for helping me bring my vision for this figure to reality. Without him, these Assassin figs would not have happened, so I want to thank him so much for his work on these amazing accessories! This is hopefully the first of many "Assassins" to come. Please let me know what you think! Let your thoughts, feedback, comments, and criticisms below, as I'd love to hear from you guys on this. Thanks!!
