    W40k Tau Battlesuit

So, I've always been a fan of warhammer 40k, specifically the Tau. Their battlesuit designs just do it for me. Since getting back into Lego I've been itching to start building anything from this universe. This is my first complete attempt, having gone through half a dozen different designs, each one getting progressively smaller until I've settled on the right scale whilst keeping the correct shape. I present an XV8 Crisis Battlesuit. This particular one is a Commander with an in universe 'irridium' upgrade, twin fusion blasters, shield generator and drone controller. https://imgur.com/H24sH6u https://imgur.com/JoKbSK4 https://imgur.com/Dm2dqqj https://imgur.com/I7Z3NuB https://imgur.com/0E5mm4E Images for reference This is about as small as I can get it with the pieces I have and keeping the overall shape and movement. I'd originally tried to get it with a pilot and opening chest plate as it is in canon, but it ended up being much bigger, and one of my first attempts came out the size of an in universe 'ghostkheel', a battlesuit much bigger than this one, so I've settled for imagination. It's made largely from Reys' Speeder and the creator 3 in 1 Mythical Creatures sets, plus odd other assorted pieces. I'd like to try and get some more detailing onto it, especially the rear of the legs and maybe the torso, see if I can find some printed tiles or something. I might also try and make more realistic weapons for it, I know the ones attached are stylized. I'm either going to try and build some accompanying drones, or another suit, or something from another faction entirely! Comments, criticism, advice and other W40k mocs and ideas very much welcome!

    Blacktron Arachnotron

I wanted to build for quite some time a multiple legged mecha. And ofcourse it had to be a Blacktron I version!
  4. I've been fiddling with that blackknight helmet and the mech torso for a while, it finally came together. The mudflap piece creates an amazing seal along the front of the mech torso. Also giving you hidden room for control detail. I stole the hand design and I find it very stable. Oops I left one the collars up a bit. Yeah that random knight will just have to do for now. Used the rounded click hinge for the collars.

    [LDD-MOC] Big Dai-X

As you might imagine from my avatar, this is a mecha MOC that is close to my heart. It's also the first one I've tried exclusively in LDD, although I have tried building a small part of it to try and get a sense of scale and it could be pretty big in real life! Dai-X was a big part of the eighties puppet show Star Fleet, originally X-Bomber in Japan. He's a Go Nagai design. Having already completed the show's mothership, X-Bomber, physically and digitally, I had requests to do Dai-X because he's probably better known and more fun! I found two other examples of him around, but I decided to take a microfighter approach to him - so you have three component Dai-X fighters, that merge to form the big Dai-X mecha. I realised I could manage that because of some of the Ninjago mechs my son has - their hip/torso join lent itself to the sort of scale I wanted to work at. I also managed to generate LDD versions of the characters that were reasonably close, which was a real bonus. He doesn't look as slick as modern mecha, and my building technique is probably not the best, but I do hope to build him one day and I'll make the build file available digitally when I have a minute. Here's a picture to have a look at, there are more here too of course: Dai-X on Ideas I'm also on Twitter if you want a word, @StafFleetXBLego This is my first attempt at a mecha design so I'd be grateful for any feedback!

    [MOC] Transformers Rodimus Prime

This LEGO project started immediately when POTP Rodimus official photos was revealed few months back. Instead of replicating POTP Roddy design (Hot Rod merging with his trailer to form super mode) ... I have chosen to integrate all of his vehicle components in robot mode, not unlike 3rd Party version of him, DX9. Initially he would "merely" transform from vehicle to robot mode but halfway through I decided to throw in a base mode after some tweaking. I relish on giving myself extra challenge there to kinda prolong the building process. Recently I got hold of a phone that could capture decent HD vids so from now on, instead of snapping photos of the transformation.. I will capture a video showing my nimble hands transforming my LEGO TFs. Please please please please subscribe my youtube channel..!! PROMOTIONAL PIC VEHICLE MODE BASE MODE Being a fan of base mode TF... I love to arm the base mode of my LEGO creations with tons of weaponry for defensive and offensive purpose. ROBOT MODE Before I get started on my LEGO TF project, I usually set in mind a few challenges/aims for the final design of my creation. For this Roddy: - Better proportions and neater kibbles not obstructing his waist , for a sharper looking silhouette - Curvier and less blocky legs derived from a blocky trailer. - I wanted less red (and more black/gray) for the legs from the primarily red vehicle mode. This means turning the trailer panels inside out to form his legs. - getting the vehicle cockpit to fit a lego minifigure - Chest to store the matrix. A definite must! - Forearm mounted cannons. Due to design limitations... his forearm cannons doesn't come from the vehicle intakes/exhausts. The arms are concealed inside the trailer together with the cannons. I am forced to distribute the intakes to become his shoulder mounted cannons instead. As usual.... hit my blog to view more photos ! http://alanyuppie.blogspot.com/2017/11/lego-rodimus-prime-part-3-of-3.html And follow me at facebook to get updates on my work in progress! https://www.facebook.com/alanyuppiebrick/ Thanks guys!
  11. Many artists during October take on the Inktober challenge, drawing in ink every day of October. This year I decided to do something similar, but with MOCs. I've already done a few mechas based off Ksenolog's sketches, but this time around I decided to dedicate a whole month to translating his amazing works into digital 3D lego. 12. I've seen a few attempts on the internet to produce a Lego Robotech/Macross transformable mecha... with varying degrees of success. After looking at a bunch of pics of other designs (especially one from Daikoncat) I decided to tackle the challenge of coming up with my own. The result was this: Whilst I'm reasonably happy with the balance between proportions and mechanics, there are a number of details I had to compromise on for either form or function. With that in mind, I've set myself the goal of a minifig scale version, that is transformable and in keeping with proportions of the original material. I've started with the pilot/cockpit module... playing around with a few ideas. The idea here is that the pilots seat will be able to maintain orientation in fighter/guardian and battloid modes. I'm already thinking of replacing the technic pins on each side with 3/4 pin (32002) and a thin 3L lift arm (6632), so that this module will fit inside space 5 studs wide. My thinking at this point is to make the cockpit and forward fuselage module with a central spine/frame constructed out of lift arms, pins and axles, depending on where articulation points will be. Unlike my earlier, smaller version, where the mechanism that mounts the legs is external to the forward fuselage, I'd like this to be internal in the larger version. I found a series of images online that shows the transformation sequence to Battloid mode involves essentially hinging the legs forward, having them attach to the nose of the fuselage, then detaching the original mount underneath and behind the cockpit. Minifig scale is about 1:42 scale based on height, 1:25 based on width. The previous version was 33 studs (26cm) long, making it about 1:55 scale. I'm thinking this one will need to be at least 1:25 scale which will make the finished build about 50cm in length, just over 62 studs. No doubt somewhere in all this I'll have to make the compromise in terms of form, function and features... but for now, I'll start with the cockpit and work my way out.

    [MOC] Micro-Scale Assault Team

So here's a trio of assorted kinda-sorta-game-inspired military craft in my first attempt at micro-scale. I didn't normally even like this style of building all that much, but I had an assortment of new pieces and I felt like trying something new. The basis for the whole set, this one started when I was experimenting with this part for the angled wings, plus some brightly colored curved slopes for color-coded cockpits. Like the other two models, this was conceptualized as something you might see in an arcade-y space shooter. Notice anything from a particular franchise? Rear shot, showing more of the construction + glowy green exhaust. The Star Fox inspiration becomes apparent when you turn the wings back to create what could be some sort of alternate flight mode. As I've said before, everything I build must have some sort of moving joint. Next up, the tank. The chibi aesthetic becomes a bit more obvious with this one. The turret, of course, swivels. Much like the others, the basis for this was a single piece, namely this one. And finally, a mech to cap off the collection! Envisioned as a sort of mobile anti-aircraft gun, one initial draft was even an immobile turret. but I felt that was a bit boring and wanted to try some small-scale mech leg designs. Possibly the least studs on anything I've ever built, and I'm fairly pleased with the relatively clean blockiness (which, granted, isn't that hard to do at such a small scale). The back, showing a bit more of the construction. Also built around another one of those 'motor' pieces. Not terribly poseable, but it can manage. Full gallery with a few more pics can be found here!

    [MOC] Titanfall: BROCK

WarGear Technologies represents. Meet BROCK. You feel the tension? Feel hair stood on end at the back? It's Brock! He is able to kick your megablocks in melee and get in any shelter. Railgun has massive damage at any distance, and allows to penetrate several layers of walls and armor. A large supply of available shells compensate for the low rate of fire. Pulse turrets are deadly for pilots outside of titan and very effective against the shields of the enemy. Thanks to the reinforced fists KO punch will come as a shock an enemy titan for a while overloading all the power system. Arm shield can help protect you in any direction, without reducing mobility. The titan core creates the shock of the explosion, incapacitating all equipment and electronics in the average radius, and destroying enemy manpower and enemy vehicles with a low level of energy. _______________ Loadout Primary Weapon: Railgun Ordnance: Pulse Turret Tactical Ability: KO Punch Defensive Ability: Arm Shield Core Ability: Shock Blast _______________ WGT Brock EL-5111 Take THIS train! Need help with mech shoulders.

I'm currently building a larger sized mech. I have acquired 3 turntables. Now these two next images are spoilers for my upcoming mech build. So if you don't want to spoil the surprise of seeing the finished thing first, don't open these. But if you need to see the scale of reference for the shoulder then check them out. And here is the shoulder i'm using: I'm using a blue stud/axle pin to create friction so the shoulder doesn't just plop down from the weight of the gun turret i'm attaching to it. But my question is. How do i make this turntable into a fully functional shoulder for a mech? How do i attach it to a gun so it can also turn sideways. Only thing that is finished are the legs so since this is a WIP the upper half of the whole torso will be subject to change. I'm using Hero factory IFB cockpit + pilot in this since it is very effective and easier to build around. Any tips? Should i use balljoints or technic pieces? I haven't decided what type of guns i'm attaching for the arms. But there will be lots of missiles at the back. And lasers in the front torso around the cockpit.

[Render] Prawn Suit (Subnautica) by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr The P.R.A.W.N. Suit (Pressure Re-Active Waterproof Nanosuit) (Mk.III) is a powered suit of armor, designed for use in both the deep-sea and space - capable of affording protection to a pilot whilst maintaining maximum dexterity with hydraulic limbs and a reinforced canopy. It is however not directly worn - rather it is a large frame that can be piloted in a seated position. Unlike the other vehicles in Subnautica, the Prawn Suit walks along the ocean floor, only using thrusters to move vertically. 21. Hello Folks! I love LEGO mechas. Long time ago I bought a 7709 in mint condition, and the blue mech of it was love for the first sight. Still, as an official set it looks... well, bit lame. I borrow pictures from this review: Lot of empty areas, right? The trailer of the upcoming Ninjago movie raised my Mech-fever again, and I dug out this set from the depth of foil bags and boxes hell. I really wanted to bring this blue guy in up-to-date status, and make it look as it would be an actual set, which is on pair of the most recent Ninjago mechs. I hope, I succeeded to polish up the look well (You judge) and made it beefy enough while keeping the genetics of the original, to be able to take it's well deserved place in the world of LEGO mechs. On the side note: it is 11 years old now...wow! And the light brick is still working. The weapons are the same, they look already genial. The sword is now can be carried on the back (held by a black Technic axle) for traveling, and I gave some boost for high performance flight mode. The whole cabin is rebuilt, actually overall a lot happened. Let the pictures talk from now on, enjoy! EDIT: I found two pieces of Nr 4 connectors in medium blue , which came handy here for the cabin bottom (instead of black ones).

    Two mechs [MOC]

And so mechbuilds begin. This first one is a more mobile suit with twin napalm throwers. Secondary weapons are anti tank missiles on the shoulders.. The second one is a medium class mech with a much more heavier arsenal. Equipped with long range missiles at the chest and short range missiles at the hip. Hip cannon that has heavy armor piercing rounds. Arm mounted medium lasers.
  23. I'm trying to make an improvement to my Macross SDF-1 shoulder mounts. While they need to be really sturdy to be able to keep in place the Armd carriers, they should also be able to rotate, have the particle cannons on the front/back and the link should be made so it can hold the Armd in the 2 different positions while in battle mode or in ship mode. Here you can find the pictures of the current built model, and here you can see the replacement I'm working on. The problem are: only 1 stud connection for the shoulder pivot is really weak the link with hinges are right only in ship mode, but not in battle mode, as I can't rotate the Armd any more towards front The requirements are: the parts must exist (in the colour provided and not custom/modified/glued) as it is a real model the size should not be too much different than the one I used OPTIONAL: the external visible parts should exist in white, while the hinge and modified bricks/plates should exist in light bluish grey, as I'm planning a Robotech version of the SDF-1 too Thanks in advance :)
  24. I recently found two relatively nice mechas where the creators were nice enough to share the instructions. They were both older creations and I'd like to see what they made after ball joints became more readily available. Who are the top MOC creators to pay attention to, especially when newer parts are available? The finest minifigure scale Gundam RX-78-2 I've seen was GYUTA's.

    Optimus Prime

Hello! I'm not sure if this is the right subforum, because "Lego Action Figures" fits here quite well too. The main reason, why I've chosen "Lego Sci-Fi" is because the Universum of Transformers fits - in my opinion - much better here... and I like this subforum, don't know why :) I watched some TV shows about transformers and decided to make some of transformers I like - so I decided to start with Optimus Prime. But no, It's not the G1. That's some sort of mix: Prime from Transformers Prime + Animated Prime + WoC Prime + some details from Armada Prime + some my accents. I think that's ok, because Hasbro made many versions of Optimus too (20?). Autobots, transform and Roll out! BRICKSHELF DEVIANTART FLICKR version 1.0 (older) ROBOT-MODE Head was the hardest thing to do - in version 1.0 it was bigger and during Optimus transformation it had to be taken out. In this version, this problem doesn't exist. Front bumper transforms into some sort of machete. I think that the idea is ok, but execution could be better... And that's not Star Saber sword ... TRUCK-MODE ... and for ending: ~ QQS
