  2. Hey everyone ! It's been ages since I took part in a Eurobricks contest of any kind, but when I stumbled upon the Concept Art Contest this Friday, I knew I had to cook something up, no matter how little time remained, since I am a huge fan of Ralph McQuarrie's art. About half of the wall space of my house is filled with framed posters of his drawings, as I am simply in love with his ability to capture the feeling of each location - you can almost feel how it would be like if you were there. My favorite work of his is all the ROTJ imperial imagery, like the super industrial proto-Coruscant that Vader escorts Luke through to get to the Emperor, but Palpy's throne room itself takes the cake in my opinion. The final movie version of the room onboard the DSII is iconic to be sure, but to me this version of it is an amazing, super Star-Wars-y location, and perfectly matches the Emperor's character and the tone of the sequence. My build is quite simple, as the platform and throne are quite simple, sharp and bold shapes themselves. For the lava, I wanted something a tad more realistic and interesting than trans-orange tiles on a baseplate, so I employed the classic idea of a net piece sandwiched between 1x1 plates and 1x1 tiles on the bottom and top respectively, which gives the ability to curve and shape your surface, and created a subtle wave pattern. Due to my time limitations, I switched the camera's angle to be higher up to avoid building tons of rockwork on the back, but I included the small parts near the platform using the new-ish beehive part,BB-8 heads and barraki eyes, so you can get an idea of what the rest of it would look like. So, here goes, please tell me your thoughts and critiques !
  3. Hello there It's been an awfull long time since I posted something over here. This is a custom projects I started years ago and finally finished (more or less, I still have troubles making decent pictures). The main theme is still the same, Duplo duo's. I used supersculpey for Yoda's head and Luke's hairpiece. For Luke's lightsaber I modded an antena with miliputt. At first I gave Yoda a cape, trying to do so in "the spirit" of Lego Duplo, but it didn't work well at all. So I just inspired myself by the minifigure. Hope you like it.

    [MOC] Paternal care

What we haven't seen from the duel of Vader with Luke on Bespin: when Vader slashed Luke's right hand, he offered him some... treatment (a-la Sith) for the wound. A Hansaplast band (with his photo on it)! Luke: Dad... You slashed my hand! Vader: Shut up, son. Here... Take this. father&son1b by Spiros Geropoulos, on Flickr More on FlickR. MOC inspired by the Star Wars branded Hansaplast bands. I used sets 75110 and 75111 and built the environment to scale (quite large).

  8. Hi guys, I have just finished another micro landscape in time for the Battlefront Death Star DLC. I wanted to do something different from some of the other trench run mocs I have seen and so I chose the moment Han comes to Luke's rescue and shoots down one of the tie fighters. I really like the drama in this scene and Im really happy with the way it has turned out. The inspiration for Luke's Xwing and Vader's tie came from a post by 'BEAVeR' (http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=84301) however I really wanted to get R2 in this scene and so instead of a 1x2 white tile for the nose I went for a 1x1 and added a 1x1 blue stud to represent R2 behind the cockpit. Thanks goes to 'PRAITER YED' for the idea of using knifes as the wings cannons - I think they look really effective. Originally I used BEAVeR's design for Vaders Tie but it would've meant having to paint the shields black, which I wanted to avoid and also I didn't think it looked menacing enough so I simply turned the Tie fighters wings on their side. I think Vader's Tie has a real presence in this piece now and looks like the dangerous ship that it is! Finally for the Tie's cockpits I used an Arkenstone piece from The Hobbit sets, which almost looks as though it was specially designed for micro ties! I am really happy with this MOC and would love to get your opinions and as always any advice going forward for future MOCs! (Also would anyone be interested in seeing the design process? I have some pictures of various stages of the builds that people might find interesting?)

    [MOC] Incom T-65 X-wing

Hi As a new member of Euro bricks I'm a little unsure of what I’m doing so please say if haven’t I’ve done something right. I actually finished, and uploaded pictures of this to Flickr almost 2 months ago, but I figured I might as well put it up on Eurobricks as well. With that out the way, I give you… yet another X-wing MOC (seems to be the thing to build at the moment). The X-wing features the essential opening wings, two small cargo areas and working landing gear. Let me know what you think and I’ll gladly answer any questions too! [WIP] T-65 X-Wing

Hello guys , I am currently working on an X-Wing moc. The focus is to get it as close to the movie version as possible ( while strictly keeping it minifig-scaled ) , without caring about action-features , play value/"swooshability" etc . While waiting for a couple of Bricklink orders , I decided to post some WIP photos of what I have so far . Do have in mind that many of the parts' colours are substitutes while waiting for the correct coloured ones ( such as the brown nose and every white piece in there ) . Lastly , I 've decided to go with light bluish grey and not white for the main colour . I know this debate has been going on forever , and fully respect the people who want it white , but for me light bluish grey not only represents the actual colour a bit better , but also provides that battle damaged - real world and not CGI feel that I love about the original trilogy ( it's a real, living world , with real vehicles and that sets it apart as the best in the sci-fi genre , imo at least ). Anyway , enough indirect prequel shots fired , here are some pictures , please share your opinions and/or suggestions (sorry about the medium-low level quality , a friend borrowed my camera so I had to make do with my phone ) . There's also and LDD file I made which I'm attaching , it's not quite the whole thing , it's more of a sketch-up of how it's going to look without caring about how everything will connect ( as it is better to find that out when physically building it , when illegal and unorthodox connection techniques can be used ) , so have a look there , as there's much more than I've shown built in the photos above ( almost the whole thing , or at least the first version of it ) . Finally , note that there's going to be a "88295" part (http://www.bricklink...colorID=66&in=A) stuck on the "85861" parts on each of the four laser-canons , they're just not available in LDD so I couldn't show it there . Please share your opinion , recommendation or any other type of feedback guys , I really need it and will truly appreciate it . Thanks for looking !

This is my MOC of Luke wandering on Hoth I wanted to try out the footprint effect in a test trial while also making a MOC I think it looks great, and if you do too, be sure to comment!
  14. I just finished creating the latest Star Wars trailer in LEGO. Thanks for watching!
  15. We are running the Star Wars Olympics now at our german forum Imperium der Steine, this is my entry to the second round. This time my task was to build something with just 4x4 studs on ground, but at least 20 bricks high. I have choosen the most popular scene from Star Wars ever. The legendary Bespin Duel, when Vader tells Luke that he is his father. The scene itself stands balanced on just the 4x4 rounded tube. Greets Disco

    [Review] 75049 Snowspeeder

Before starting to review this set, some warning. I’m quite a newbie in the Star Wars Lego universe – just started end of last year. All the sets that I buy are the first ones of their own. That means that I don’t possess any previous old version of them. Thus I can’t compare the set I’m reviewing to the previous ones.

I just bought the new Snowspeeder 75049 on internet. And I’m really happy about it. That’s a set I was looking for all these last months, and what I found was way too expensive. I like Lego, I like Star Wars, I love the Snowspeeder, but I’m not gonna pay a fortune for it.

So when I saw that it was back again, I knew that I needed to buy it.

75049 T-47 Snowspeeder
Pieces: 278
 Minifigs: 3
 Price I paid: 149pln (that’s about 36€ – 48$) – I saw it in a specialized toys shop at 229pln

 1) The box I find the box quite big, bigger than my 2 previous « small » set – A-Wing and Jedi Starfighter. I think that they could cut it by 1/3. Would be great. On the back you can see all the features and play functions of this set – the harpoon, the cockpit and the new missiles. I will write a bit more about these missiles later.

 2) The instructions

What I like on this instructions manual, is the last page, with the inventory of the minifigs of the new sets (I presume).

Some are very tempting. But buying a set just for them. Not for me.

 3) The minifigs Luke, Dak and a Snowtrooper.

I don’t like this kind of skirt on the Snowtrooper. I’m even thinking of removing it. But I love his backpack.

I didn’t have Dak before, and he just looks like any rebel in his pilot gear. Has 2 faces.

Luke is new. Of the 3 Luke I have, this is certainly the best one.

Just one thing, when the heads have 2 faces, I don’t like to see that tiny part of the print below the helmet. You can see what I mean on the picture above.
 4) The building There are 3 bags, with small bags inside them as well.

The first one is for the canon and the cockpit. There second one is for the one wing. The third one is for the other wing. There is one mini fig in each bag.

Great fun building it. Just under 1 hour – the time for my baby son to take his afternoon nap. As usual, I build the set as I’m told in the instruction manual, and then I realize that there is some stuff that I don’t like or that there are some flaws. I really don’t like the new spring-loaded shooters, as for my previous set – the Jedi Starfighter – I removed them. I don’t like the sound of the spring when they are not loaded, and I think it’s kinda dangerous. I don’t want to misfire when I play close to my baby son. And for the harpoon, I removed the cable. I think that this system is not compatible with the snowspeeder. It’s such a primitive way to handle the cable. I didn’t take pictures of my transformation. Just the set as it should be once built. Something that bother me as well is that with the minifigs are inside the cockpit, and we close it, they have to lay down a little. Not such an easy way to fly the ship.
The sticker didn’t bother me even if sometimes it’s not that easy to place them perfectly.

I think that it’s a really good looking snow speeder. But I already loved it before buying it. I love it since the movie.

 5) The ratings

Figs: 9/10 – Nicely detailed, good enough for me. But I’m not a hard die fan of minifigs. I like them, and I can be happy with a simple one.
Building/Design: 8/10 – Beside the spring-loaded shooters that I hate and the cable for the harpoon, the rest is great.
Price: 8/10 BUT – I would have never bought this set full price. I found it in an internet shops with 30% off because it was their Star Wars week. I saw it in a shop at 229pln. Normal retail price is about 195pln – that’s 62$/48€. Horribly expensive. (it’s for that I try to buy the big sets when they are on sale or when people sell them – brand new – on our national eBay).
Overrall: 8/10 – the spring-loaded shooters bother me a lot. As for the cable. Such a prehistoric solution. Hope my english wasn’t too bad ;)

  17. A long time ago in a galaxy far, far away... The escape from Nar Shaddaa begins! The back of the diorama and the Valkyrie... From a captured speeder, Jacen Solo launches himself at the Imperial forces wielding lightsaber and The Force pushing stromtroopers into the polluted clouds below. He doesn't know what's going to hit him! With Luke in tow the Valkyire powers into the sky. THE PLAYERS Jacen Solo ambushes an unwary stormtrooper. Deflecting blaster-fire, Jaina Solo secures Luke's tether to the Valkyrie. Luke Skywalker, older, but ever as strong with The Force. The deadly Boba Fett makes a shocking appearance where the galaxy had once thought him dead! Trooper TK-2407 in pursuit of the enemy. Mynocks abound on Nar Shaddaa. The polluted skies have little effect on these vermin of the skies! The Valkyrie's pilot. My entry to the main section of The Future of Star Wars contest sees an older Luke Skywalker escaping the Imperial Remnant with the help of Jacen and Jaina Solo and the New Republic ship Valkyrie. It's been a hard slog getting this finished, dabbling in lots of different contruction techniques and a lot of trial and error over the course of several late nights. I've even been refering to my wife as the 'LEGO Widow' (thank you so much for your patience). I wanted to encapsualte everything I feel is quintessentially Star Wars: Spaceships! Speeder chases! Adventure! Daring rescues! Imperial entanglements! Wild creatures! Faces old and new! I hope I've managed to capture the spirit of Star Wars - and hope you think so too! Thanks for looking and best of luck with the contest everyone. Tonight, I'm having an early night... Brickshelf folder and all pictures live here when moderated.
