MINI LEGO SEA COW LDD 17B Hey guys! Thought I might want to share my first Pirates MOC. I was looking at some of the relatively few mini models of the Sea Cow from the lego movie, when I noticed something. They were all extremely good, (especially the one here on Eurobricks) but they were all too small. So I built my own. A full front view of it. Obviously the sail details aren't perfect, but I did my best. You can see the shaping of the hull, which I did using numerous hinges and SNOT techniques. The bowsprit on the front is constructed using hinges, 1X3 plates, and rounded slopes. The entire inside of the ship is semi-accessible, but the size makes interior detailing difficult. Sorry about the inconsistencies in the images. The first one was taken before I updated the Lego Ideas page. A better view of the back half of the ship, as well as the chair. The rear deck of the ship, as well as a partial view of the upper cabins in the ship. Visit the link below if you want to vote for it on Lego Ideas. https://ideas.lego.c...s/79307/updates

This model is inspired by the Super Cycle as seen in The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Movie Video Game. I originally wanted to wrap chain track elements around a modern turntable element, similar to how the original models had chain track elements wrapped around an extra-large gear. Unfortunately, that didn't work out in LDD, so I settled for a standard wheel and tire combo instead. In addition, I couldn't find the correct torso and leg prints for Wyldstyle and Emmet, so I decided to be creative with their outfits. Click or tap any image for a larger version. [spoilerS] Alright… I know I'm gonna get lynched for this… but am I really the only one who absolutely HATED the end of The Lego Movie?? Hear me out… I loooooooved most of the movie, I squeed at all the references! The mention of "the man upstairs" was a nice touch to me, indicating they are actually living in an imaginary play-world… but then…. ohhhh then… When Emmet fell to the real world the movie lost me. "Ah, that's a shame, I wished they left it open to the viewer to interpret wether or not the story is in a persons imagination… but ok", I thought to myself. But it went from slight disappointment into blind hatred within minutes. Wait, so the kid is actually playing with his dad's collection?? Even though he knows he's not allowed?? Yeah, of course dad is pissed! And then this "but daaaaaaad, you can't expect me NOT to play with it" BS!?!? Yes he can! That's called discipline! That's called listening to your parents! When I was a kid I had respect for my dad's model train collection, and I only played with it when I had permission (and that was together with my dad). And the kid has got a great lego collection all to himself! In a big box! Look at what he made with Cloud Cuckoo Land! But that wasn't enough for him, right? Spoiled egotistical brat. Talking about parents, where is this kids mom??? Why hasn't she been wondering where her kid has been for the past hours?? Why hasn't she come down looking for him, scolding him for demolishing his dad's (insanely expensive and work-intensive) stuff?? Is she too busy making tacos? Why wasn't the door to the basement locked in the first place?? … Wait a minute… the dad wasn't in the basement for the entire story??… soooo… who was actually using the Kragle during the movie??? THE KID??!?!?!?!?! THE KID was the one kragle-ing Bad Cop's parents?? And the Super Secret Police Dropships at the CCL invasion?? And even the citizens at the start of the climax?? (and yes, it's heavily implied they are actually kragled; Bad Cop's parents are being de-kragled at the end) WOW! This KID is the bad guy here!!! And the dad actually giving in to this monsters demands?? I'm not buying it! I'm not agreeing with dad btw; kragle-ing is an absolute no-go. But hey, it's HIS stuff, bought with his own money, so who are we to judge? Plenty of people glue their creations together (including TLC btw), paint their figures, or customize their bricks in other ways, what's wrong with that?? "Everything is awesome!", except if you're an adult, enjoying a hobby in your own way. Then you're the bad guy. The message went from "let your imagination flow" to "f**k up your parents s**t and they'll love you for it!"… Just waiting for the moment little Billy rips open the mint in box classic Star Wars figures of his dad's prized collection "Geez dad! It's a toy! Haven't you seen The Lego Movie!?". Or Suzy cutting the hairs from vintage Barbies "Oh Em Gee, uncle Steve and aunt Bob, stop your crying! It's, like, a toy ok?!" I'm not saying kids shouldn't be allowed to play with lego, or that you shouldn't be allowed to use your imagination, but I'm saying kids need to respect the rules their parents impose on them. Except for this kid; this kid I would't mind if he didn't look before he crossed the street. And it's not like the dad completely banned toys from the household; the kid has his own big box full of interlocking building bricks! Ungrateful brat... I've rewatched the movie dozens of times, but quit before the ending most of the time. I absolutely love its humor and the artwork is amazing! Pfoo… I needed to get that off my chest

MOC: LEGO Movie CMF Display Stand (Collectable Minifigures)
Lucifer Adams posted a topic in Special LEGO Themes
Hi everyone! After some very kind words from users here in regards to my large black (but a bit boring) CMF Display Stand (HERE), I wanted to share with you the display stand I made for the LEGO Movie CMF figures. There was no question for me that the Movie minifigures should get their own stand, since they are not part of the main CMF lineup (remember when these were rumoured to be Series 12?). So with that in mind, I had decide on how to display them. Using the amazing LEGO Movie logo was a no-brainer! The 'THE' is my favourite part of the logo! The logo is a separate unit to the minifigure stands and looks really effective as a MOC when displayed on its own. The yellow and black tiles that you can see at the front and back of the logo are part of a support plate structure that prevents the logo from overbalancing and tipping forward or backwards. The logo was the easy bit compared to the rest of this MOC. I had a lot of trouble thinking of a way to display the Minifigures around the logo and what I kept coming back to was the 'construction' theme of the movie and of the posters in particular. So with that in mind, I went with the idea of scaffolding and made a kind of scaffolding framework that would stand underneath the logo and curl around it. The scaffolding uses 304 of the 'Light Sword / Wand' parts in light bluish gray. Getting each of the eight stands to be identical in size and shape required very careful and precise use of a pair of pliers (suitably padded) to insert each wand to the correct depth. Pushing one wand in too deep or not enough would alter the shape of the individual stand. I learnt this early on when my second stand was a different size to my first. I had to scrap them both and start again, using a larger frame made of plates that fit around the stand, making sure the insertion depth was consistent between stands. As I did on my previous CMF stand, I printed out custom stickers with the character's name and applied them to 1x4 white tiles to act as nameplates. Thanks for looking! Female characters you want to see in the next LEGO Movie!
Transparency for Effect posted a topic in Special LEGO Themes
http://www.huffingto..._n_5124829.html Great news! It really pleases me to hear they're addressing could-be-better representation of women the first movie arguably had. :3 So, just for fun, what pre-existing LEGO characters would you like to see in the next LEGO Movie? Here are some of my ideas: (More of) Wonder Woman Fabuland Representatives (like Bonnie Bunny, it'll be funny to see whether they 'count' or not) Ann Lee and the Vampyre/Zombie Brides from Monster Fighters CM's Cheerleader and the (for some reason controversial?) Female Scientist Simpsons Representatives Have fun!
