  1. Is anyone else experiencing this? I cannot export and of my models as BOM, which is very frustrating. Maybe someone with a working version of LDD can export these for me? I'd be very very grateful......
  2. I downloaded LDD just 48 hours ago and got right to work on designing a hopper car. Well eight hoppers to be exact. I know they just look like simple color changes but the first one took me the better part of eight hours. Then I spent many more hours getting familiar with groups and templates. Simultaneously I hand keyed them into Bricklink and spent many more hours getting them from about $90 per car to the to $40-$50 range with careful parts and color editing. So now I have a choice to make, I'm going to order parts for three cars and want your input. Which colors combinations do you like the best and why? Most favorite and least favorite? I also welcome any opinions, or suggestions. They are 24 studs long and I won't be making any changes to their length. Thanks in advance, hope you like! -Scott Link to .lxf file. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1e9qqypkfY-aygmPB61na6wNFS1eNDONc/view?usp=drivesdk Link to a high quality pic. https://photos.app.goo.gl/MgeiD3S4d71siK5c2
  3. Who let the dogs out? ;-) A colourful, cheerful, crowned canine takes centre stage in the winning design as our official poster for the 2018 Adelaide Fringe. Originally Created by Sydney-based graphic designer Jacqueline Daniel, the poster celebrates the Year of the Dog with a balloon version of the Chinese horoscope. Ms Daniel, whose winning design was picked out of more than 300 submissions, said 2018 would be the year for Fringe-goers to unleash their festive spirit. “My poster design is about crowning everyone who joins in on the festival and unleashes themselves into the night,” she said. “With the jewels of the festival to light their way, they will experience the true treasures of the Adelaide Fringe.” Adelaide Fringe Director and CEO Heather Croall said the design was a perfect fit given next year’s festival opening would coincide with Chinese New Year celebrations and the Year of the Dog. “We asked poster competition entrants to represent the playful, inclusive and cheeky spirit of the Adelaide Fringe, and we feel that Jacqueline’s design has really embraced that brief,” Ms Croall said. “She has given us a quirky new mascot with a royal flair and surrounded by diamonds to highlight that the Adelaide Fringe is the jewel in the crown of Australian arts festivals.” In keeping with Adelaide Fringe’s open access nature, there is a long history of the official poster being chosen from a design competition that anyone from around the world can enter. This year saw over 300 entries submitted. The festival will run from 16 February until 18 March. This is the second time a poster coincided with a Chinese horoscope (2007's celebrated the Year of the Pig). [MOC] Tiny Turbos, anyone?

Hello folks! Tiny Turbos - does anyone remember this somewhat hit-and-miss Racers theme? Despite its discontinuation, moderately small interest in the 4-wide scale still persists on Flickr and MOCpages, and new pieces released are fueling fresh ideas among builders, myself included. One may find building a tiny car a very fun and rewarding experience - the key point to keep in mind is avoiding the overly dull and generic results, which sadly happens on many an occasion. Now, I am not too familiar with MOCpages, but this Flickr pool is a great place to start if you're looking for inspiration. Normally I wouldn't bother with creating a separate topic for such a car myself, instead turning to Flickr, but this one is somewhat special. Since I was building for a contest, I went all-out on it, made a bunch of renders and maximised the capabilities of virtual MOCing. The car is made up using exactly 60 pieces, and as far as I can tell should be adequately sturdy IRL. I used Metallic Sand Purple, which is a beautiful official colour that can be found (by legal means) within the depths of LDD. Rendered using Bluerender. Under-the-hood trickery included! Some obligatory animation, for there is no better way to showcase a car. A couple more "panoramic" images. Hope you enjoyed your stay and feel free to join in the fun! .)
  5. So a few years back I set out to make my first Star Wars MOC (as an adult that is). I was really into The Clone Wars and decided to start with something small. I finally decided on the Delta-7B, as it was featured heavily in the series. And I had a bigger goal that I was aiming for, that it would be a part of. This was my first minifig scaled MOC, long before my Ghost, Phantom, etc. Though I've had these sitting on my desk for years, it wasn't until recently that a few new pieces came out that finally added the finishing touches to them. So I've finally decided to show them off, in lieu of the bigger thing I'll be showing in the "hopefully" near future. So lets just jump into it. Anakin and Ahsoka's Delta-7Bs. Delta-7B (1) Delta-7B (2) Closer look at Anakin's. Anakin's Delta-7B (1) Anakin's Delta-7B (4) Closer look at Ahsoka's. Ahsoka's Delta-7B (1) Ahsoka's Delta-7B (4) I also designed Hyperdrive Ring's for them. But haven't built either yet. Anakin's Hyperdrive Ring (1) Ahsoka Hyperdrive Ring (1) And just for a size comparison, with my Phantom. Delta-7B (4) by IcarusBuilds, on Flickr Hope you enjoy. IcarusBuilds

  7. Hello! In this topic I want share with you my experience on creating LEGO animation in Blender. Here is a LEGO movie I've created: Blender is a professional, free and open-source 3D computer graphics software toolset used for creating animated films, visual effects, art, 3D printed models, interactive 3D applications and video games. Software that I used to make this animation: LEGO Digital Designer Blender Sony Vegas STEP 1 First of all, I built all needed models in LEGO Digital Designer. STEP 2 I opened all models in Blender and created an animation. Then I rendered all scenes. STEP 3 All video files were ready, and the only thing I needed to do was to edit them in Sony Vegas. That was my first LEGO movie made in Blender. It took near 2 months to create it. Do you like it?

    Alienator Redux (MOC)

Internal report: Alienator-type Units Organization: Blacktron Its purpose is causing an unignorable distraction so as to allow the strike force it carries to sneak into secure locations while local forces are occupied dealing with the vehicle. Its heavy armaments are capable of dealing significant damage to most forms of armor, and its thick plating and layered reinforcement makes it difficult to damage. Usually crewed by one armored trooper and two pilots, one of which is redundant and as such is usually part of the strike force. Equipment contained on an average Alienator-type unit is wire cutters, grappling equipment, welding tools and a hand-held circular saw, along with a variety of weapons and in units planned for long-term deployment (although it must be stated that due to their large and noticeable appearance, long term in this context refers to periods of at most 1-2 days), rations. The displayed example's armory included one small plasma pistol, one recoil-neutralized handheld railgun, a blade suited for underhand wielding, and a bashing/disarming ring upon recovery. Play features: removable roof, windshield opens, classic shuffle-walk mechanism, deployable ladder and ball joint mounted stud shooter turrets. This one was rather fun to make. I stole the foot design from Nexo Knights' Stone Colossus, and while I initially planned to make the legs flexible enough to walk normally, once I realized that I could actually use the classic mechanism I just had to. Of course, this is entirely unbuildable in real life due to the fact that I built this with little to no regard for the availability of certain pieces in certain colors. I just really wanted to make something focused mostly on aesthetics. Gallery LXF download (once public)

    2ND Place Speedsters

Some of you might have seen an odd Truck like vehicle I posted a while back. Well after tinkering it into a semi truck with a trailer. I tinkered a bit more and made a Speed Champions esc racing car to go along with it. There team name needs work but in universe. There goal is to always come in second place. First place is fine and all but when have you ever seen a racer consistently come in second place. Backstory over. Here are pictures Gallery when public- http://www.brickshelf.com/cgi-bin/gallery.cgi?f=573122

    [Digital Render] Trace (Axiom Verge)

Trace (Axiom Verge) by Artemiy Karpinskiy, on Flickr Trace is the main protagonist of the videogame Axiom Verge, a pixel-styled metroidvania that was created by a single person as a "love letter" to Super Metroid. Trace was a scientist in a laser lab stationed in New Mexico. One day some sort of malfunction occurred, bringing down the lab along with science team, including Trace. Next thing he knew, he awakened in a strange, alien place, to the voice of a stranger who introduced herself as Elsenova. Armed with nothing but a biomechanical Axiom Disruptor gun and Elsenova's voice, Trace must find his way back home... Shoutout to Demitsorou for post-processing the original render. They've knocked it out of the park lol.

  15. A Conversation heard in Haven: "Did they have to build it like that?" "It's a lighthouse. It's s'pposed to be all tall and stuff." "Right." "But?" "Did they have to make it look so evil?" Looming over the Horns is the lonley Black Tower lighthouse, inhabited only by the mysterious woman who operates it. While all in Haven are happy to see the light of it's beacon, few like to visit the grimly foreboding structure. Whispers abound that the Lightkeeper worships some dark patron, and that the tower is truly more of a shrine that just happens to require a freshly kindled flame. Details behind the Spoiler.
  16. Hello and welcome! Here's my latest MOC, in which I experimented with colours currently somewhat defunct in LDD that I attempted to restore. The Axen Octet is a congregation of eight spirits sent forth upon Earth by Sepulchure. The group never parts and accomplishes tasks jointly, materialising out of thin air and disappearing just as swiftly. The characteristic trait shared by all axenocts is a single unblinking eye, roughly level with the shoulders. The Octet always moves in complete silence, communicating through means not known to man. Upon appearance, each spirit takes physical form with is retained until retreat - the form has been reported to consist of metal-like material on the outside, as reported by those lucky enough to overhear or survive a battle. Each axenoct is entrusted with the task of observation, but on specific occasions they bear instructions of carnage and destruction, which is when their axes come to prominent use. The carnages are exactly the reason the Octet - and their axes that brought about the name - are so dreaded by those who know anything about these spirits. Some have linked the instances of their appearance to the passing of the Emissary of Sepulchure, however these rumours remain unconfirmed. The Knight Well-armoured, fast and bearing a heavy axe, this axenoct posesses ram-like capabilities and is often seen at the forefront of an attack formation heading for a fortified target. With a shield to deflect attacks and a pair of bells hanging off its shoulder, the forewarning sound of which alone is enough to intimidate most, the Knight is a force to be reckoned with. The Duke This moderately-armoured axenoct towers above all in height and handles a halberd-like axe that gives it a great range in combat. Another tactical advantage to the Octet stems from the Duke's ability to self-illuminate and effectively blind the enemies, overall making this axenoct an important strategic asset during assaults. Its calm nature also makes it a good observer and, possibly, strategist. The Demon The fiercest of the bunch, this blank-eyed axenoct carries the fearsome double-bladed axe with a handle shaped like a trident, neither of which the Demon is shy to employ. If that was not enough, it carries out its assaults with intense rage, spitting forth bursts of flame and soon turning the area into a towering inferno. The Imp While not as intimidating as its elder "brother", this axenoct bears no good news. Possessing no special abilities and welding only a basic axe, this minion is often sent on mundane tasks to act as support and to carry out minor carnage. Despite its lack of fire mastery, the Imp can occasionally - albeit uncontrollably - release a ball of fire, which on many occasions has been sufficient to start serious fires. The Magus The smallest member of the Octet is not to be overlooked. Although neither its figure, nor its axe suggest the ability to wreak havoc, it is the other end of the axe that is used in deploying energies known and not-so-known to man. A rumour has it that the artifact on this axenoct's right arm has something to do with its abilities, and that it is indeed the Magus who facilitates the sudden appearances and vanishing of the Octet. The Teitan This axenoct's slow speed and somewhat humorous appearance are swiftly wiped out of the enemies' minds with the heaviest of axes dropping on their houses, heads and other kinds of property. Extremely heavy armour and an immeasurably heavy axe that doubles as a shield - and the ability to handle the aforementioned gear - have reaped the Teitan the reputation of a true titan. A lethal opponent in both attack and defense. The Spectre This ghastly axenoct sports a ghost-like appearance, and to the demise of its targets handles the most dreadful weapon among the Octet members - the spectral axe, capable of severing and entrapping living souls. Physical damage can also be dealt with it, albeit to a lesser extent, but its main capability is what makes the targets tremble and run as far as possible before giving the Spectre a chance to hit them. Which is where the chains come in handy... The Wraith This axenoct is the true dread machine that both looks and functions the part. Being of spooky appearance, with the habit of camouflaging itself and then jumping the victim, the Wraith is also the fastest of all axenocts. Before the threat is even realised, the deadly long-hilt axe is sent swinging in every direction faster than an eye can follow, truly making it the perfect device for intimidation and spreading panic. The entire Axen Octet. A rare sight best avoided altogether... Thank you for your attention, and I hope you enjoyed your stay!
  17. Hi everyone! I found an old post here on the forums regarding the UnplaceableBricksDump.lxfml file. This file could be opened in a text-editor to figure out what parts had been removed because they were placed incorrectly. It said something that all pieced in this file got yellow and the once that had been removed in the lxf-file would be red here so it would be easy to search for them and find out what piece it was. However, the answers in that post only covered this file in a windows-environment and I have tried to find this file on Mac for quite some time now. Does anyone know where this file might be placed on OSX? Does it go by the same name and the same file-extension or is it something different? Hope someone can help me?

    [LDD-MOC] Battlestar Galactica

After finishing up the in-the-brick Pegasus, I finally dusted off (virtually) the LDD design I had started on for a version of the Galactica scaled to it. All 100% my own work, this time! I originally designed the sidepods (based on the top half of the Pegasus ones) pretty quickly, but then got so hung-up on the curves and ribs for the engines that I got stuck in a rut and gave up on it. When I came back to it I started at the front and worked my way back. When I got to the engines I used some of the artistic license I had learned to apply to do the missing plating/ribs, and that allowed me to push through to the end result below. She currently weighs-in at a svelte-for-her-age 3087 bricks, and according to LDCad she's 65L x 11H x 25W in bricks (not technically long enough to be a real SHIP, but hey) or ~51cm long by 10cm high by 20cm wide. Pegasus is 54cm long x 13cm high x 26cm wide - and generally a lot bulkier - in comparison. I've still to design a stand, or sticker sheet (need some for the engine nozzles for sure - can't texture them out fully with Lego at this scale), but those can come as I gather the bricks. May need to build this one before I get to the @mortesv Nebulon... So here she is - the grand old lady herself: The pods slide in and out on rails, and kinda recess into the bodywork (as much as I could with Lego, anyway). They're a real PITA to move around in LDD... And here's a view of the underside and engines (the 4 technic 32530 pieces in the middle are placeholders for connecting the stand) with the pods retracted to show how they integrate with the main body: There's another underside shot (front perspective) plus my reference image in my Flickr album. I may go & fire up my old Mac to do a 360 render now... Any feedback, comments or suggestions are welcome!
  19. Dear Everyone! 2018 will be the year of anniversaries in the life of LEGO. One of them is the 40th year of the beloved minifig. For this occasion, this Advent Calendar will introduce you 24 of the most iconic little fellows. As mere copies would be kind boring, I redesigned them in clothes/uniforms that suit better for these days’ standards in term of colors and details in printing. Although I hope all of them will be recognizable, I will include the „template” for all days’ minifig. The joy starts tomorrow! J Check out the Microscale Advent Calendar in the Town topic.
  20. Dear Everyone! 2018 will be the year of anniversaries in the life of LEGO. One of them is the introduction of the LEGO brick itself! For this occasion, this Advent Calendar presents you 24 microscale versions of the most iconic sets ever released! Hopefully, the yearspan and the choice of themes will be diverse enough. I had no idea that LEGO will release a 60th anniversary set with microscale models, but mine will be even smaller, the size of a normal LEGO Advent Calendar window. Although I hope all of them will be recognizable, I will include the „template” for all days’ sets. The joy starts tomorrow! J Check out the Minifig Advent Calendar in the special LEGO themes topic.

    LDD Simple Y-wing

Been working the past few days on a small, simple Y-wing. The idea is that, instead of spending nearly $150 on 3 TLG y-wings I could instead design my own, cheap versions for army building. The plan is to, at Christmas, open up a Bricklink package and have the pieces for three of them, which is why they have to be simple and inexpensive. In total there are three: One normal-sized vessel, one slightly smaller and stubbier, and another that I made to resemble a Hasbro Y-wing toy for a battle pack idea. However, I can't decide on which one to mass produce. Any suggestions would be great, and please, help me decide! #1 is the battle pack. #2 is the normal-sized one. #3 is the slightly stubbier one.
  22. Hi, I'm new to LDD but have spent half a day getting to grips with the basics and have recreated the Star Wars Microfighter 75032 as my first attempt. However, I want to recreate the minifigure and parts like x164pb08 (6062974) Headgear Helmet SW Rebel Pilot with Flat Silver Rectangles, Medium Dark Flesh and Black Circles Pattern does not appear to be included in LDD. What do you guys to in situations like this please?
  23. Hi, I'm new I realise that LDD MOCS probably aren't everyone's first choice and I myself would much rather see one of these in the flesh than just on a screen but of course the availability of parts, prices and time prevail. We'll start with the less impressive of the two I have to show ;) That appears to have worked, so fair enough. It's Stephenson's Rocket only it includes the provision for a face should I ever feel compelled to add one. Theoretically it could run on a layout with something pushing it around but I don't trust the rigidity of it at all. Not entirely happy with the tender because it's so large compared to the engine itself, but it serves. Now for the one I am actually pleased about, an LNER J70 tram engine. I'm not ordinarily one to use SNOT techniques because I never used to be able to figure out how to make everything fit properly (and I still haven't, really) hence the use of those parts that go around minifigs' necks with a stud on the back. I even made a mock up interior for it featuring a boiler and coal bunkers! As well as sort of an underframe with cylinders Have to say, I'm very impressed with the outcome and it's far better than anything I'd ever attempted previously. I'm particularly proud of my solution to shaping the cow catcher. As with the Rocket, however, it isn't self-powered so I may begin work on a Wisbech & Upwell tramway coach with power functions. Thanks for dropping by and let me know what you think - Nick

    [MOC][WIP] Post Office

Hi, Long time reader, first time (proper) poster. I'm working on adding a post office into my modular street (I loath to call it a town, as it's not even close to some that I've seen on here!). I was originally building it up in LDD, but have since redesigned it using stud.io. It's a WIP at the minute, but I'm looking for a bit of feedback, as this is my first proper MOC. I'm planning on using 7731 in the driveway, and 60100 for the helipad that will be on the roof. Any constructive feedback would be great. https://flic.kr/s/aHskxeK1gH Link to Flickr album, as it won't let me upload images > 20kb!
  25. So, I built like 4 castles before I settled on one I was really happy with (Blackwail Castle), but considering the time invested, I did want to at least share a few of them over the next few days, as they are never likely to be built. This one - which I never named, so it is simply called 'New Castle' - was based in passing on Berwartstein Castle in Germany (at least the upper portion). In the end, I decided it was too square and way too big - 5,700 pieces without a base. On the upside, it featured a lot of interior details - a full chapel (with Christ in effigy on the cross), a physicians room, wizard's room, kitchen, King's room, servant's room, and council chambers (at the top of the tower). If I ever win the lottery, it would make a nice opposing castle for Blackwail, but otherwise, it's a dead project. The other castle I wanted to share was intended to be the corner piece of a 4-part fortified manor house (in order to keep the price down, I hoped to break a full castle into pieces - what a larf :P). However, it was a bit too derivative of another MOC I had seen (it's different, just not different enough)... though I felt like the exterior scenery was some of the best I have done. These are the Pacific Northwest trees I referenced in the Blackwail thread.
