  3. Hi again. Another project I showed live last weekend at PLUG Braga BRInCKa 2016 - a LEGO Laser Harp: It uses a Mindstorms EV3 to read the light intensity on 8 color sensors. Each color sensor has a 1mW red laser pointing to it so my instrument has 8 "strings" or "chords" (I use two 3-to-1 input multiplexers in order to achieve 8 sensors). All 8 lasers are controled from one EV3 output. I started with 8 LEGO Power Function LEDs and it worked fine... at dark. But at a live show room I knew it would be impossible to use the LEDs (unless for very very short distances) so I opted for lasers. The EV3 runs ev3dev, a linux distro for the EV3. A python script controls the lasers and reads the sensors, sending their state to a linux laptop where another python script plays the notes on a software MIDI synth (EV3 with ev3dev can play MIDI but has not enough power to polyphonic sound so I had to use this client-server configuration). This allows the "instrument" to scale out so I can had more EV3 and more "strings". I don't know now how to play so during the exhibition my wife, when present, played some 8-note children tunes for the public. I have no live video but I have this one at home, still with LEDs and just 7-chords: Sound still needs some improvements (I'm not controlling note length) and hopefully in a later version I will read hands distance to control note amplitude. I will also use some kind of Human Interface Device to change the MIDI soundfont intrument "on the fly" so the artist can change from an harp to a piano or a drum whenever he/she wants (I'm planning to use LEGO Dimensions ToyPad since I can already read NFC tags with it on the EV3). Some technical details (and code) at my blog.
  4. Hey you! So I had this 5mw green laser lying around and I had the idea to build it into a lego module so I could use it with the lego PF system & an Sbrick in MOC's. A few days of figuring out how to do this... and then I just did it It works perfectly, and it's super cool to see! the beam is just visible in daylight (hard to take a picture of unfortunately) and pretty well in the dark. However, now it's done... I don't know what to use it for I didn't have any special project in mind you see, I just thought YEAH! build it, I'll figure out what to use it for on the way... but still haven't come up with anything interesting other than obvious things like a tank gun or a pointing tool. So I thought I'd post it, see what you guys think, hopefully Inspire some people to think outside the brick and maybe get some sweat inspirational ideas what to use it for TECHNICAL PART: The first part from the PF lead is a brige rectifier salvaged from an xbox 360 charging station (this makes it so the polarity is always the same since the polarity switches when a motor is put in reverse and these circuit have no reverse polarity protection). Next is a stepdown regulator from ebay to turn 9v into 3v for the laser module Then the driver circuit for the laser, and finally the laser diode this was the test setup to align the laser, later I shortened all the wires to make it fit, but this illustrates everything better Since a PF wire costs 5€ and A PF M motor costs 9,50€ I picked the last one,so I'd have an Ideal place to hide the circuits in with great mounting possibility's and perfect lego looks. So tell me... what do you think ,and what should I use it for?
  5. I was always inspired by the multi-functionality of backhoe's, and I always imagined ways to improve upon it and now I finally did. In this MOC I challenged myself to make the most multi-functional vehicle I could, using all the motors and sbricks I had, naturally I ended up buying more motors XD The final build includes 17 LEGO power functions motors (5XL motors, 6L motors and 6M motors), 4 LEGO power functions lights and 1 DIY LEGO laser! It's powered by 4 LEGO PF battery boxes, controlled by 5 SBricks and operated by a 20 channel SBrick profile. The drill/laser arm is operated by 5 channels 1 channel for rotating the arm (PF XL motor) 1 channel for tilting the arm out (PF L motor) 1 channel for extending the forearm (PF M motor) 1 channel for spinning the drill head (PF M motor) 1 channel for activating the DIY LEGO laser (TOPIC HERE) The excavator arm is operated by 4 channels 1 channel for rotating the arm (PF XL motor) 1 channel for tilting the arm out (PF L motor) 1 channel for extending the forearm (PF M motor) 1 channel for moving the bucket (PF M motor) the bulldozer scoop is operated by 2 chanels 1 channel for raising and lowering the scoop (PF M motor) 1 channel for tilting the scoop (PF M motor) The crane is operated by 3 channels 1 channel for rotating (PF M motor) 1 channel for extending the crane (PF L motor) 1 channel for operating the winch (PF L motor) The plow/ trailer hook is operated by 1 channel 1 channel for lowering and raising the plow (PF M motor) The drivetrain is operated by 3 channels 2 channel for driving forwards and backwards (2x PF XL motor) 1 channel for steering (PF XL motor) The lighting is operated by 2 channels 1 channel for headlights 1 channel for rearlights Weight: 4.6KG Length: 62cm With: 32cm Height: 31cm building time: 4 weeks A special thanks goes out to my friend Bas for helping me edit and my amazing girlfriend for her everlasting support.

    Rock Wrecker

My second build for the 2017 LEGO Speeder Bike Contest, for the Overkill Oval category. The track was probably the most difficult part of this build, and it ended up going through several iterations before settling on the current design. Ready to tear through opponents, the Rock Wrecker’s brutal saw and powerful laser are a deadly combination. And if things really get out of hand, its deployable missiles in the hidden undercarriage compartment end things with a bang. More pictures on Brickbuilt Thanks for looking, C&C welcome
  7. Papercube is a fully automated Lego "factory" created by students and me Germany's Jade Hochschule. It is a scale model of an actual production line. The machine takes a piece of paper and runs it through a series of processes that manipulate it into a paper cube. The paper is then perforated by a laser to outline the shape the cube will eventually take. The laser is enclosed in a protective, orange casing to protect the eyes of anyone watching this process. Enjoy our video :-) Andreas
  8. Hi guys, I thought I would quickly post this mod on a MOC I made. Earlier I had built the end scene from Revenge of the Sith with Vader, The Emperor and Moff Tarkin looking at the death star being built. I was in the process of dismantling it for parts when I suddenly realised that the exact same shot was used in The Force Awakens as well. So before taking it apart I did a quick modification on it to turn it into Kylo Ren watching the Star Killer base fire its super laser. DSC_2497 by dimitrinicomanis, on Flickr A simple mod really turning the black space and death star backdrop into a red sky with a laser beam. The control panel had a few more lights added as well as some red tiles to mimic the red flare hitting the underneath of the window. Revenge of the Sith - Construction Begins by dimitrinicomanis, on Flickr Kylo Ren - Star Killer by dimitrinicomanis, on Flickr And here is the comparison shots between the two scenes from the films to highlight the similarities... As always I would love to hear your comments, feedback and suggestions.

    MOC: Anti Satellite Laser Carrier

Hello, Eurobricks. I'm finally posting my first MOC, so sorry if it has minor issues. But hope you enjoy! In the future of 2075, on distant colonized planets, satellite warfare has increased greatly. This means that in order to be victorious in most major battles, vehicle such as the Anti Satellite Laser Carrier must be used take out even the toughest enemy satellites from the ground. These 6 wheel drive trucks carry cannons to different satellite attack zones and launch their huge lasers. Here you can see inside the cab.

    Neo-Blacktron Mech

Hello everyone! I've been wanting to do a few Neo-Classic Space, Neo-Blacktron and Neo-M-Tron MOCs for a while now, I've already done a small Neo-Classic space MOC, so I decided to do a Neo-Blacktron MOC, and more... sinister So, it's basically a one manned Blacktron small mech-walker with two walking legs, controls in the "cockpit" and laser guns. *NOTE* I don't know if you can truly call this a "mech", but it's sort of a Mech-Walker. Neo-Blacktron Mech by Brick Capone, on Flickr Frontal view. Neo-Blacktron Mech by Brick Capone, on Flickr And the back view! I'd love to hear comments, criticism and overall good feedback on how you like this!
  11. Hello everyone. I am rather new to Eurobricks, and I'm happy to be on this site now posting and commenting on lego creations, etc. Anyway, I've always liked Classic Space. I've been ordering a lot of space stuff from Ebay and Bricklink lately in hopes of assembling a moon base in the future. So while I'm waiting for those, with the space stuff, and the blue parts I currently have, I decided to make a variety of neo-classic space stuff for the moon base too. I may release a few more ships in the coming days, weeks, etc. Anyway, here it is. SpaceSpeeder1 by Jim Kirk, on Flickr So frontal view. The Classic Space minifigs patrol the planet surface. The build is very simple, but I like it. It has a frontal blaster/scanner, controls and a seat for one minifig, and a back engine. SpaceSpeeder2 by Jim Kirk, on Flickr Side view. Antenna for communicating with the base. Hope you liked it, please leave comments, criticism, etc. Thanks.
