  1. So far in the past years, we've seen in a Christmas Winter Village: *Toy Shop *Winter Bakery *Post Office What else would you like to see in the future for the Winter Village? My prediction is it's going to be a church or a simple village home. What is your prediction?
  2. I'd like to draw some attention to an Idea that has been gathering support at a steady pace for a while now. From, @paokus, the creator of The Pirate Bay (which was made into the Pirates of Barracuda Bay set!), comes 'The Sword of the Seas': If you like this Idea, and would like to see it made into an official Lego set, then please follow the link and support it on Ideas!
  3. Ahoy, seamates! I have started my LEGO-Ideas Project 2-3 months ago and now I want to present it to the specific lego pirates community! Would be nice to get your suppport but even more I am looking for some advice what I can improve on it. SUPPORT NOW Please take a look on the ideas website or at my flickr https://flic.kr/s/aHsmMnLn6a for more fotos! Here is the text from ideas: Welcome on board of The Rolling Dutchman! Since I have been a child I always wanted to control my LEGO Red Beard Runner without pushing it around and now my dream has come true. I have build a motorized Version of the famous Flying Dutchman which is my favorite pirate ship, too. I have seen the original swedish Vasa which has given the idea for the Dutchman with its marvelous bow and stern. So I managed to combine them with my own creative ideas into this "rolling" Dutchman! Please have a look at the features in the video and the pictures! Video: Update 2: Thanks for your 1k supports so far! I have worked on the main picture a bit and now added a picture of the crew and one showing the functions as well. Update 1: New rotten Sails! (Picture 7+8+Video still with the first sails) Motorized Features: Rolling movement caused by waves (1. M-Motor) Two motorized triple-barrelled chasers in the bow (1. M-Motor) Motorized steering with simoultaneously rotating ship´s wheel, rudder and steering mechanism (S-Motor) Motorized movement for- and backward (L-Motor) Motorized sail trim with turning capstan and changing sail position of all square sails (M-Motor) All features can be controlled by rc-control via 4 channels and two receivers All features use the Power-Function System but could easily be adapted to the new Control+ System which can lead to advanced handling of the functions The battery box can slide out easily to switch on/off and change batteries General Features: Minifigures: Davy Jones, Jack Sparrow, Elizabeth, Bill Turner, Barbossa and more. (I am not familiar with the movies in english so I would like to ask you to tell me the names in the comments section!) Two decks with cannons (one side the lower deck is closed to store the motors) The two tripple-barreld chasers can manually slide backwards and then the gun ports can be closed Removable deck at the stern to take out the steering wheel Removable lower balcony´s on both sides Handmade sails Two functional anchors Upper cabin minifigure size with Jack stealing the heart (illuminated) Lower cabin with Davy Jones organ (illuminated) Two torches at the stern (illuminated) The capstan can be removed The ship is based on the sturdy hull parts, the complete 2 lower rows of bricks can be removed with the steering and driving wheels to use it as "normal" push forward ship or display model The main mast and the mizzen are both slightly tilted backwards Correct rigging and sails due to the movies The ropes between the masts can be removed easily to take them apart for transport It would be an honor to receive your support. Aye! I have to thank my friend J-H to help me with some motorization problems and a special thanks to my girlfriend for not freaking out! Thanks, yours Störtebricker from Hamburg, Germany SUPPORT NOW
  4. Everyone remembers galaxy squad. Some liked it, some didn't. But everyone can probably agree that it was our last original, thought out, classic space theme. I liked it, but probably not the kids. At least that's what I suspect, considering the mark downs at Walmart. Because "nooooooo no no no"! Kids didn't want this. They wanted this! "Sigh" So where does that leave us? Stuck buying something like this? So I'm thinking "If kids want Star Wars, why not make sets aimed towards adults?" Creator Expert Series anyone? Why not make a $100 to $500 dollar classic space for AFOL? What do you think?
  5. Hello to everyone, I am here with the new Lego MOC - 1969 Mercedes-Benz 280SL. I revised a few of the original designs. Some of the important ones are that the side mirrors continue without breaking the oval line at the place where the door exits. Updating the engine as 6 cylinders. Just like the upper part of the hood looks more smoothly oval, with more smooth lines. Please do not withhold your vote on the ideas below link if you like https://ideas.lego.com/projects/91827469-0cb7-4029-98e8-14e1a01af1f4 For all photos, you can check my flickr address. https://www.flickr.com/photos/hasskabal/albums/72157713991355321 Thanks Everyone,

    [LEGO IDEAS] Merchant Ship

I've always seen LEGO Pirates in catalogs when I was a kid, but never any merchant vessels. I built a merchant ship guarded by the bluecoats. It's on IDEAS. Pictures can be found here. Support on LEGO Ideas
  7. In relation to Lego Ideas: - Topics' limits: ethical, reasonable - 1% royalties: unethical, they should be - at least - 10% - 3 years to sell instructions after rejection: unethical, the designers should be able to regain possession of their own ips immediately after the deadline's expiration or the refusal - Rejecting a model because of internal development: understandable, however ethical only if the model is rejected in the bud or in the very early stage of support's gathering - Selling a model which shares many similarities with a submitted idea: debatable, related to the outcomes of the previous point, overall unethical and counterproductive in term of brand image. Since coincidences are hard to prove, the idea's designer should receive some benefits.

    The School of Athens

The School of Athens (Scuola di Atene) is one of the best pieces of art in the history of humanity, so my brother has decided to turn it into a magnificent Lego model. The School of Athens was completed in 1511 and is not only considered Raffaello Sanzio's finest work, but also the work that sums up the spirit of the Renaissance. My brother has struggling to finish this project properly and almost set it aside, but I insisted and he managed to finish it, although in a smaller scale than initially. He has uploaded this project on Lego Ideas, so please give it a vote and share it online, I think we can get there with everyone's help! Why "The School of Athens"? With so many sets based on movie and on pop culture, we thought it was only right to give art in the traditional sense a chance at becoming an official product. For us, this painting represents humanity, explicitly and implicitly. Just at first galnce, some aspects of human knowledge are visible: architecture, painting, sculpture, philosophy, anatomy, cosmology, but also things inherent to the work: manual rendering of materials and surfaces, colour theory or the perspectives that became so common around then. But the fun of it are the layers of extra meaning it bears. The figures stand in certain angles, perpetually braking the symmetry, linking geometry to the real world. Raphael crafted the characters so they are immensely expressive and vital; they really do feel alive, something I feel my brother has also achieved, they interact, they discuss, they disagree, they agree, they are typically human: they cooperate with one another, something the ancients can teach us. I believe this is not a mere fresco, it is a piece of art that can teach us. Who is who? Represented here are some of the most important philosophers, mathematicians and thinkers of ancient Greece, Rome and even muslim Spain. Some of the statues are pagan gods and some of the figures have the faces of eminent Renaissance figures, with Heraclitus having Michelangelo's face, Euclid having Bramante's face and Apelles having the painter's face, all in all, a nice mix, something that also applies to today's multicultural cityscapes. Video: Fun facts about the Lego model: You can read the ones my brother already mentions in the description of the project, here are some extra ones: Originally the plan was to give the 1x1 brick with 4 studs on the sides to the women in the painting and the Erling brick to the men, but my brother ended up giving the 1x1 brick with 4 studs on the sides to male figures too, as the Erling brick didn't allow for side hair. The compass Euclid uses are some cherries. The only Olive Green pieces in the whole model are for Socrates, the originator of what today we understand as "philosophy" (the philosophers before him are today known as "pre-Socratics". The robes next to Diogenes are regular Lavander, nor Medium Lavander like the rest of the robes in the rest of the model. Only women wear Aqua garbs. Please help my brother by supporting and by spreading the word.

I'm new to the site so any advice would be much appreciated, likewise if you wanna ask anything please do!
  12. Hello everyone and thank you for letting me in :) I'm a 49 yr old guy from Norway that has not built much Lego in my life unfortunately, But I *really* see the value in it for my 9 yr old son, and I'd like him to spend less time gaming and more time building Lego. So I went online and bought some Lego motors, axels, bushings and gears, but I'm not very good at this (crap infact :D ) and it seems we both could use some beginner-tips on where to start. I'm looking for VERY simple builds/tips perhaps combining two motors somehow ? (I tried to search on these forums and keep ending up in massively complex builds that makes my jaw drop but alas) :) Thanks again folks!

    [MOC] Erling Records

Go crate-digging in the most famous record store in town! Hello everyone! This is not actually my MOC but my brother's. I'm so glad I finally managed to turn him (at least temporarily) to the dark side !! Anyway, I helped him around so it also counts. He was super hyped when he saw the "Music to our ears!" contest in Lego Ideas especially by the chance of a proposal becoming a set without the required 10.000 votes. He managed to create two entries in the given timeframe for it: a Jazz Club and this record store. The first entry was more of a warm-up to this second entry which is more refined and better. The main idea was to build a record store in a similar scale to this beautiful build by César Soares, somewhere in the miniland scale. He initially wanted to build it in minifigure scale, but I insisted in this larger, more unique scale to be able to add more details and to have an overall more impressive model. One of my inputs was building the main façade at an angle (for those who know me... who would've thought, right? ). We used the same technique used in the Ideas Friends Central Perk to angle the wedge plates. It works fabulously. Using such a back wall also enabled him to have a full exterior. I think this was such a good idea. The entry is reminiscent of the London Underground entrances by Leslie Green with the nice dark red tiling and blue signage. One of the aspects of the build I personally had most fun was doing the decorations for the posters on the walls. I came up with some of the ideas and puns. Billund Road, City of Brickminster... Erling Records itself... They're super fun. We also put a version of a 1980s Lego advert on the wall outside. Help us turn this idea into an official Lego set! [MOC] Motorized Free Fall Tower

After I built Pirate Ship Ride last year, I've just completed my new project - Free Fall Tower! I always want to construct a minifigure scale thrill ride and make it fully automated model without any manual control or mindstome programming. Spec of the Free Fall Tower: Maximum capcity: 12 minifigures Length: 32 x 32 Studs (not include motor and gear box) Structural Height : 65 cm Drop Height: 54 cm How it works Gear Box serves 3 main functions: 1) Generating pull power It will pull rope which connected passenger car so the car can be lifted up. 2) Looping 2 gear modes First "pull mode" & Second "neutral mode". gear box will keep looping between two modes in a fixed time period. Pull mode will lift up the car and neutral mode will stop giving pull power so the car will drop. 3) Reducing drop speed The main axle connects to a high scale gear. When the car drop, the main axle will make the high scale gear spin really fast and it will generate a reverse force to the main axle for reducing the main axle spin speed. As a result, the drop will slow down. (Just imagine you are playing beyblade) I've submitted it to LEGO IDEAS, if you like my work, please vote: https://ideas.lego.com/projects/a3b37789-0467-4252-9adb-2d7ab44c27a5 Thank you!

  19. i have been busy these last few months on many prjects that i will be submitting to lego ideas, such as the Lighthouse and Guard house you may of seen on here, whilst uploading those i noticed that Pirates of the caribbean was once again allowed back to lego ideas, many people have been making ships - which honestly was my plan too but then i thought what was my favourite and most visually stunning scene and for me it was the Maelstrom Duel between The Black Pearl vs The Flying Dutchman so i decided to take a shot and recreating that here in my submission, i think it would make a really good display piece for anyone who is a fan of ships as well as PotC and id like to think it is unique enough to stand out (movie concept art) also an alt version im not sure which i prefer

    A-Team Van - Lego Ideas

After seeing that the A-team licence is now allowed back on lego ideas i have decided to clean up my old build, it takes inspiration from a few different vehicle builds, quite a lot of trucks, I originally built a version of this in 2018 after seeing a MOC by Willem G and Kevin8, their vans were the main inspiration especially for the tilt on the side panels (i have credited him for this amazing solution in my Ideas submission), i took their models apart and rebuilt them using my own techniques and details to hopefully make a better version, but over the years lego parts have changed a lot and so have techniques, so after a couple of years of messing around and looking at other techniques used on other builds of this van i am happy to present my version of this iconic vehicle, i believe thanks to the culmination of many MOCs, styles and builds ive seen over the years that this is one of the more screen accurate builds, one thing i think might be a little off is the front light bar, i think the parts i used were too thick, and as of yet i dont have the parts to build this so im unsure but i think the rear wheel/axle part might be an illegal build as it may put stress on the axle however i cant find out yet At the moment i am desiging the prints for each of the minifigures in photoshop, i think i will use the Mr T from Lego Dimensions maybe just adding so leg detail if anyone has any suggestions for the bull bars on the front please let me know or are they fine as it is?

  24. IDEA submitted by JasonsBrickStop, it was discovered and linked by @leafan in the pirate section previously. I've invited Jason to join us, it seems he did not have the time or the intention to do so yet. Still, I think this build is truly such an underrated gem within IDEAS that it deserves an own thread. I'd like to summarize some personal opinions on pros and cons about this as an IDEAS submission. I have mostly positive view of course, but as it only stands with ~500 votes at the moment I try to list some things why it might be wrongfully underperforming despite it's greatness and potential. Pros: It is actually very well scaled in piece count, nothing unrealistic to instantly eliminate itself from competition Great combination of newer elements with oldschool atmosphere Pretty astonishing design with lots of different play features and scenes, color scheme is diverse but organic - something what Lego would do itself to make it noticeable The build is a little bit of everything, obviously a jungle but also some pirates/oriental theme. Not too much but far from boring and empty. It is Adventurers so one of the coolest things a Lego set can ever become, period Cons: It is Adventurers, sadly Lego has a questionable motivation and even reputation with rebooting themes. Also today's kids don't really have any emotional links to this theme, that might cause the lower performance (or just not enough publicity) I'm not sure of the figs, they are pretty nice for templating the historical atmosphere, but too many overused parts from older sets (I guess customizing them is just not 100% priority) Without proper lore explanation this might remain a great theme concept instead of an individual IDEAS set. I'm still hoping Jason is going to accept the invitation and will share us some insight about his motivation and standpoints while building this great idea. Also discussions of any detail would be quite welcomed. I personally think this is one of the most careful and sophisticated designs I have ever seen as an attempt to revive an old but also ageless classic.
