    Grogmas Gifts 2016

'Twas the night before Grogmas, when all through the Hall Not a creature was stirring, not even a sleeping Skrall... Until of course celebrations were to be had! The veterans gathered in Scheherezade's Saloon to join active heroes for a feast and drink celebrating the Orcish holiday. "A good occasion to celebrate, too! For one group of heroes has slain the mighty Baba." "Even I could not have foreseen their victory." "We mustn't forget all our problems quite yet. There is still a city divided and many problems around it." "Oh don't be such a spoilsport. It's a time for mirth and good drink, we ought to cherish the moment while we can." "The Falconer is right, and something will need to be done soon. But now is not the time to discuss it." "Not when we're celebrating my ancestor, Grog the Red. So shut up and drink! And there are gifts to be had!" "Of course. Heroes, it is that time of year again. Get gifting!" ~*RULES OF THE EVENT*~ ~ All players can suggest gifts to give to their fellow player's characters. The gifts can be pre-existing items (like consumables or equipment), or something made up. Please think what would be fitting for the player character in question. ~ You can suggest gifts for multiple characters, but only one gift per player character. You naturally cannot suggest gifts for yourself, nor use this topic to ask others for something. ~ The best and the most fitting gifts will be selected by the Game Councillors so that everyone who got suggestions will get one gift. ~ You have up until the 17th of December to send your suggestions. The chosen gifts will be revealed during the Christmas Grogmas holidays.
  3. It was that time of the year again, when most of Eubric prepared to celebrate Grogmas, the festival of generosity and warmth in the middle of winter. It originated from Baltarok, out of all places, where there used to live a tribal chieftain called Grog the Red, who was renown for giving exuberant gifts to his tribe once a year. His life was cut short by a jealous rival, but his legacy lingered on. Orcish slaves spread the tradition all over northern Olegaia, and in the spirit of Father Grogmas, people started exchanging gifts with their nearest and dearest every year near the winter solstice. That was the case in Heroica, as well. ~*RULES OF THE EVENT*~ ~ All players can suggest gifts to give to their fellow player's characters. ~ The best and the most fitting gifts will be selected by the Game Manager, so that everyone who got suggestions will get one gift. ~ You have up until the 20th of December to send your suggestions. The chosen gifts will be revealed during the Christmas Grogmas holidays.
  4. As the Festival of Grogmas approaching, all heroes of Heroica received a letter via the Z-Mail system. In the envelope was a card with some text written on the other side. "Yo! This is your resident Grogmas Elf Noel Ziegfried writing to y'all. I would never have stooped this low if my mother hadn't decided it was time for me to contribute to the family business. As if my studies at the Academy weren't hard enough! Seriously... But whatever, I'm supposed to promote the Z-Mail system with this lame Grogmas campaign. Anyways, I'm supposed to remind y'all that you can send your Grogmas greetings and gifts to anywhere in Olegaia via Z-Mail. Maybe you'll get something in return... or maybe not. How should I know? That's all, I guess. Crappy holidays to all of y'all!" ~*In celebration of Grogmas, all players of Heroica can use this topic to send letters and items from their inventory (not gold etc.) as gifts to any PC or NPC they wish, and receive a letter along with a gift in return. Be reminded that if you send an item to another player, they are not forced to send anything back (as I will only write the responses from the NPCs). You can also choose to send only a letter, without including a gift, but you will not receive an item back in that case. Also remember to update your statistics according to the items given and received. Please restrict the letters to one per post, in order for me to keep track of everything. You can respond to a letter in the same post in which you write to someone else, though. You can post multiple times into this topic, just don't overdo it. This event is open to all players of Heroica RPG, whether or not they are on a quest. You will have until the 26th of December to participate in this event.*~
  5. One winter morning when the champions lingering in Eubric stepped into the Heroica Hall, they were met with a peculiar sight: all the Veterans were there to greet them, dressed in red. A large conifer tree had been brought inside and decorated. "Ho ho ho! Have you been naughty or nice, heroes? Well, it doesn't matter because on Grogmas Day everything is forgiven and forgotten, so Merry Grogmas to each and every one of you!" The heroes just stared at the bearded orc in puzzlement. "Not familiar with Grogmas, are you? Can't blame you, it's an orcish tradition stemming from the days of Grog the Red, a tribal chieftain known for his extraordinary generosity. Once a year, he gave away valuable treasures from his hoard to all the members of his tribe, as well as the chieftains of some neighbouring tribes. But he did this in the dead of the night, so that nobody knew it was him. Not until he was murdered by a greedy rivalling chieftain. Since were talking about orcs of olden days here, war and bloodshed ensued, but the memory of the good will of Grog still lingered. Even now, for one day in the year, orcs everywhere forget their feuds and anger, and give gifts to their loved ones through me, Father Grogmas, the spirit of the generous chieftain." "We Veterans - and... ahem, Father Grogmas here - thought that we should spread this tradition of generosity and kindness forward as well. So on this day, let us remember those important to us with nice thoughts, forgive their misdeeds and forget all quarrels. I'm not sure how the tree fits the picture, though... Maybe you can shed some light on that, Feath... I mean, Father Grogmas?" "Trees are a rare sight on Baltorak, so it became a habit to bring one into each household, decorate it on Grogmas Day and then chop it for firewood on the next day. It is also customary to eat and rest well on Grogmas Day, since in the days of yore it was the only day when you could be certain that nobody would kill you for food or in your sleep." "Eh... How charming..." ~*To celebrate this Grogmas Day, all players can suggest a gift related to Heroica RPG to give to some other player. All you must do is to state what gift you wish to be given to who, and why. The best suggestions will be fulfilled, as judged by myself. You have until the end of December to suggest gifts.*~
