Welcome to the Olympic Gardens! I'm by no means an engineer, but I started out wanting to create a beautiful domed European-style modular. There was going to be a tower, and a balcony, and an arcade along the front, to enhance my city layout. I got to the bottom of the dome and it did NOT translate well to the tower portion. The angles were terrible! So instead, I pivoted and turned it into a garden pavilion. And I like the result so much better! Some of my favorite parts are the planters holding the cypress trees. The main portion is a technic piece that makes a really cool textured planter. I'm a big fan of gardens and fountains, so there's tons of flowers and greenery in the finished build, and a main fountain up on the level with the pavilion. The cow horns near the bottom of the model (under the arches) were originally supposed to be teacups, but I didn't realize until too late that the pieces were too big for the gaps until later. So it's just a cool bit of statuary now. I plan to try and recreate this MOC in real bricks soon, as soon as I can order new bricks. It has more of a diorama style footprint than I normally do in my MOCs, so I can display the finished model on my shelf. There's tons of little details hidden in the scene as well, such as animals and lost coins, and bees everywhere. The flower bushes in the planters at the top of the stairs utilize a cool little piece with three studs, where I inserted the vines and green wolverine claws. The koi tiles are my absolute favorite, so I knew I had to include some in the build. I also like to make up primary stories to go with the MOCs I build, and for this one, the lady gets a text to meet her friend the artist at the park for a portrait painting. I also like the little grapes in the garden pavilion, they give it more of a pastoral atmosphere that I like to see in real-life gardens. The only thing that's really silly is that the balustrade on the side is a bit off center compared to the main balustrades, but that's something I can tinker with more when I build it in real bricks. Villa Del Balbianello is a lakeside villa in Italy built in 1785 expanding on an existing structure from the 13th century. With later additions added throughout the years such as relics added from an explorer. It was also featured in films such as Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clones (2002) and James Bond: Casino Royale (2006). 4 season garden In early spring when the garden begins to come back to life, and the bees wake up from their hibernation and the butterflies begin to fly, that is the first sign for the gardener to start gardening. In the 4-season garden you can walk along a path through all four seasons, from early spring to warm summer, to colorful autumn, and finally to the crisp winter. The 4-season garden consists of 6 components that you can take apart and display separately. There is also a rain barrel to collect your own rainwater for the plants in the garden. In the spring you can find many types of insects, such as ladybugs and butterflies, there is also a bee hive to pollinate all plants and flowers. In the first zone, the spring, you can find these plants. marigold tulips radishes salad ivy Summer In the summer you can enjoy the beautiful warm weather in peace from your picnic bench, with a fresh juicy apple from the tree. Many types of plants grow in the greenhouse in the summer, including tomatoes and cucumbers, and there are always some plants that would like to be repotted :) In the second zone, the summer, you can find these plants. beetroot onion carrot spinach sunflowers apple tree Autumn Autumn is the time to harvest many different types of crops and then pickle them or prepare a delicious dish and then enjoy it, after all the leaves have been raked together of course :) In the third zone, autumn, you can find these plants. leek pumpkin Cauliflower potatoes Winter In winter most plants have gone into hibernation, and all seasonal plants have been cleared away for the next year. But that doesn't mean there isn't time to enjoy the beautiful winter weather, such as going ice skating on the frozen pond or playing in the snow :) In the fourth zone, winter, you can find these plants (often in hibernation) pine trees berry bushes I am a big garden enthusiast myself and love working in the garden. Many types of vegetables grow in my own vegetable garden, one of my favorite vegetables are carrots. What are your favorite vegetables in the garden?

I recently competed in a seed part challenge called Duel of Pirates on the french forum brickpirate.net. The seed part was a modified 1x2 plate with ladder in dark tan I had two ideas for the part that both fit in a Japanese setting, but in different scale, so I went with a bit of forced perspective on this one. [MOC] 1:22,5 Scale - G Gauge (45mm) - Toy Locomotive (Mark II) and new LGB-based "gondola" wagons

Hi all! Here we go again with big Lego trains running on 45mm G Gauge track! Some of you may remember the yellow Toy Train locomotive I prepared back in 2019 -it was one of my first experiments with G-Gauge trains. This little locomotive was based on a small Powered-Up battery box and a Medium motor. Here it is during a night run on the new 45mm copper track with wooden sleepers I restored to be used on my small garden railway. Here's a detail of the old chassis with the original 1,667:1 gear ratio. This solution proved to work fine on a flat track at home, but was completely useless on the garden line, which can be easily considered a "mountain railway". A 3:1 gear ratio worked better, but gears were too stressed and speed was ridicolous. Plus, with some wagons, the motor always needed to work at full speed. Therefore, back to the lab, I completely revisited the heart of the locomotive, and updating some details on the exterior. Here it is, the Mark II (TADAAAAAAA) !!! And...what's new??? Actually, at body level, it did not change so much from the older one . Handle bars, and headlights have been modified and a new exhaust scoop has been added over the hood (there's no more a red On/Off button). The real new part is under the bodywork: A completely new chassis has been introduced, and now features a new 4-ports PuP Hub and a more efficient Large Motor. Gear ratio is now 2.779:1. It is very strong and smooth - the big battery/bluetooth hub helps traction (which can be increased with the use of rubber bands around the wheels), and the L-Motor is a great improvement over the M-Motor. I've prepared some workflows on the PuP application to work at 25/50/75/100% of the power. The chassis can be detached from the body with four "fast unlock" pins, so changing the batteries is now an easy task. Then, with a locomotive now up to the task of garden railroading, I needed some rolling stock. I've some LGB wagon bases with studs on top (item number 94063) which are the perfect chassis for some wagons I've designed in Stud.io. Both axles are steering, to help the wagon working on tighter curves. So here it is the small gondola , in a bright blue color: And the tan/beige gondola with taller sides: The LGB chassis runs smoothly and really helps the whole train to roll better. Sometimes these things are available (used or new) with an acceptable price, so I get them. A final photo of the consist (fat least for the moment)! Next to come, a passenger and a closed freight wagon with sliding doors (let's see who comes first). I'll try it on the garden railway soon and give some feedbacks (for now only some pretty satisfactory tests were conducted on homemade ramps) I hope you like it!!! Ciao! Davide -
[MOC] Magda's Garden Shed (or the Shed with the Tree)

Magda's Garden Shed Every time I visit a garden shop I am fascinated by the mixture of colors and shapes of the plants that you can find there. I really like that atmosphere especially in the old rustic shacks. I tried to recreate that kind of location by building a barn-shaped shed surrounded by flowers and plants. The inspiration came from a drawing by a Japanese dioramist that I really appreciate. The large tree that sprout up from the roof catches the eye and it's the leading element of the entire scene. The Garden Shed is the kingdom of Mrs. Magda (can you spot her?), a friendly Spanish lady who has retired to the countryside with her funny cat. She spends her spare time taking care of the multitude of lush plants and flowers. The diorama is full of details and strange pieces, have fun finding them. Hope you like it! -
Hi everyone I'm happy to share my third MOC which I have been working on over the last 2 months. I build the MOC with BrickLink Studio and used the Eyesight Render for my images. Carpenter's shop is a MOC modular building. The MOC consists of a fully equipped carpenter’s workshop, a small organic store and a two-story apartment. The MOC has a high level of details on each floor. It’s built on one standard 32 x 32 base plate and includes 4 minifigures and one dog. Minifigures Retired customer with her little dog Saleslady of the Organic store Carpenter and owner of the Wood Art carpenter's shop Resident of the apartment and amateur gardener. Level 1 – Carpenter's shop and organic storeThe ground floor contains a full equipped Carpenter's shop with workbenches, drill press, circular saw bench and many other details.The small organic store sells various vegetables and fruits. in addition to a counter and a refrigerated shelf, the store also has a small presentation area outside.Between the two stores is the passage and stairs to the apartment above.Impressions Level 2 – Kitchen, living room and terrace of the apartment Living room and functional kitchen with small dining area and bookcases. Large terrace with raised beds, overgrown pergola and barbecue fireplace. Impressions Level 3 – Bedroom and bathroom of the apartment Small bathroom with toilet, bathtub and sink. Winter Garden This diorama was on my wishlist since a long time. My goal was to recreate a welcoming room full of plants and flowers while using many pieces from the Scala, Fabuland and Belville series. I have been collecting these kind of pieces in the past few months, and have finally placed them in my Winter Garden. If you look carefully you'll notice many Scala pieces like the award ribbon, the watering cans, the cloth rug, the chairs, the wicker baskets and the suitcase. Even the white cat waiting for the mouse on the chair. The coffee-table legs are linked via the Scala towel bar, a piece I had never heard of, but very interesting. I also added a couple of Fabuland utensils: the camera on the cabinet and the jerry can. There are many plants and flowers and I used different kind of utensil to create the plants supports (hockey sticks for the cactus, brooms for the ficus). There are many others details and NPU, have fun spotting them! It was very funny building it and it's something different from my usual comfort zone. Hope you like it!

Ninjago is a world full of action and adventure which keeps the ninjas constantly on their toes! However, all this excitement can get a little tiring for the ninjas' wise old Master Wu. That is why, up in his secluded Monastery of Spinjitsu, behind his dojo he has a hidden zen garden where he comes to sip on his beloved tea, meditate, and find his "inner piece" - or to just get away from the ninjas when they are arguing over who's turn it is to do the dishes. Built on a base similar to that of a miniature zen garden sandbox, this scene features many items typically found in a Japanese garden: a torii gate, raked sand with carefully placed rocks, a red bridge over a pond, a cherry blossom tree, a stone lantern, a jade dragon statue, and various plants and flowers in calming colors. This is my entry for the Eurobricks Flower Show. The goal was to make a rich vegetation without using too many official "plant pieces". As you can see I prefer the garden to be a little bit wild. The nature is perfect by itself - in its abundance.

I'm not fully decided whether this should be here or in Town, but I created it with trains in mind so I've put it here. "Create a garden for your theme"... well, that's clearly going to be trains, so I can either put a garden in a train or a train in a garden. With only a 16x16 area, I thought a railway wagon might be a a bit small (but @Pdaitabird proved me wrong, so I'm glad I didn't try it!). However, I thought a LEGO minifig-sized garden railway might work... and it does! The young and the old railway entusiasts watch as an unidentified BR tank engine hauls a pair of Carmine-and-cream MK1s around the loop, endlessly... The garden features every LEGO plant, flower and shrub I own! It also features a miniature station building, a bench for Grandad to rest on, and a small workshed - complete with toolbox and cup of tea/coffee/hot beverage. Behind the shed is the control gear, that via a few bevel gears turns the green disc the train is fixed to, causing it to rotate. In an ideal world the turning disc would be grey and the the central "island" green, but I don't have the parts in the right colour so they're the other way around! Hi everyone! I designed an extension for my model in the BrickLink AFOL Designer Program. The Science Tower City Site extension gives the tower a nice square plot to sit on and the possibility to integrate it into a LEGO city. It has a small garden and the pavement is plastered with a reference to the Pythagorean theorem. The tower model can be put on it and taken away easily without modifications. It's been ages since I last shared a MOC, so here is something I pieced together based on my fond childhood memories of Beatrix Potter's classic tales. The design is inspired from 3 of my favourite stories wrote by Potter - Peter Rabbit (1902), Jemima Puddle-Duck (1908) and Mrs. Tiggy-Winkle (1905). Sir Darby didn't quite share Nyle's optimism. Like Harlon, he preferred to not involve more people than necessary when on the road. 'Why don't I go over and check if anyone's home and if they happen to have some spare food and perhaps someplace to sleep?' - 'I'm coming along', Nyle stated. - 'Fine. I'll just stay here so my unpleasant personality doesn't ruin your prospects', Harlon said wryly. - 'You do as you please', Nyle replied and urged his horse towards the small cottage. Sir Darby sighed. Somehow, getting these two to get along seemed harder than keeping up the morale in a camp full of soldiers. - 'We will be right back', he told Harlon and moved to catch up to Nyle. As Sir Darby and Nyle approached the cottage an old man came out to meet them. Sir Darby could also spot a younger woman in the doorway, peeking out at them with a worried expression. Sir Darby dismounted. - 'Evening sir. We are travellers on our way to Newquay. We were wondering if you might...', Sir Darby started. - 'No, we do not', the old man interrupted. Sir Darby took a moment to recover from being cut off. - 'All we're asking is...', he continued. - 'But you're not asking, are you?', the old man interrupted again. 'You are obviously men of importance, and men of importance never ask men of no consequence like me for anything. You demand and you take.' Sir Darby assessed the situation. There was obviously nothing for them to gain here and they should head back and look for a proper campsite. Still, he felt himself sympathise with this old man. Anger and hurt were no strangers to Sir Darby, though it was long since he had let them touch him - a man in his position could not afford to. Yet these feelings were clearly recognisable on this man's face. This house had experienced loss, most likely on the battlefield in service of Avalonia. Probably the husband of the young woman peering out at them, which would make it the man's son or son-in-law. - 'I'm sorry for your loss', Sir Darby offered. The man's face betrayed a short moment of surprise, before pain and determination again took over. - 'What does that do for us?', he asked sternly. 'Is that going to bring our family back to us? Men like you came and took my son away without warning! One moment we were plowing the fields and the next I watched him march off in a long row of dirty young men.' The man continued. - 'Would that all you did was take something away from us though, but your pack of filthy recruits brought something to us as well. The plague.' The man began to tear up. - 'My wife caught it, but she didn't tell me, and I was too busy making up for my son's absence at the farm to notice. Then one day she showed me her blackened foot and told me she had to leave. I told her she couldn't leave, that we should go see Mr. Oates, that he would help us. Sir Darby looked at the man for a moment. There was nothing he could do for him. His son might even have been under his own command. Perhaps he had sent him to his death. He had had a number of Thom's serving under him, but there was no way to tell if it had been this man's son. He could not offer him the closure that he needed. One thing he knew though, that he was responsible for this man's suffering. Perhaps not directly in this case, but how many more like him were suffering for the choices he had made as a commander? In this moment, that burden weighed heavier on his shoulders than it had ever done. Sir Darby mounted his horse and started back to Harlon. Nyle followed suit. - 'Life has dealt you a poor hand', he thought to himself. He was not sure whether he was referring to the man or himself. *** Been quite a while since I last built for Avalonia, but the Swedish Lego Maffia gave me an offer I couldn't refuse, so here I am ;) Seriously though, I have had this cottage (minus the roof) standing around for over a year, trying to figure a good way to make thatch for the next episode in this story line. It finally clicked about a month ago, and so here is the finished product. Feeling a bit rusty with the story telling, but whether it's good or not, writing is fun :) Ironically for such an old build, I actually ended up having a deadline for its completion as the LEGO Store in Copenhagen wanted to display it, so a few details that could have used some extra work had to be left as is. Willem Guilder took his evening stroll through the garden. Here he could almost imagine he was back in Weelond, but for some reason he was still in King's Harbour. However, his ship was on its way, and his extended stay on the Corrish island was nearing an end. Just then one of his aides caught up to him. "Here you are, Gov'ner. I was lookin' all over for you. I was told you needed me, but they failed to mention where you was." "Well, you've found me, so all is well." Guilder let the man catch his breath for a moment, then continued. "Please see to it that these orders are delivered to the Secretary of the Navy. We need to commission the sistership of the Long Beard into service." "Aye, sir," replied the aide. "I heard about her. 'Twas a shame the Long Beard went down, but I hear she gave Zublius Von Wreck what fer, taking the pirate's ship from her. Better than a fair exchange if you ask me." "Indeed, the men made good with the capture of Hades' Hangman. The crew of the Long Beard have had quite the summer. But there is no rest for them, as the Long Beard II awaits." --- Just a quick build for the sistershipping requirements, and it gave me a chance to play around with a brick-paved walkway. The sand green tiles may seem like an odd choice, but I think they work well. All C&C welcome.

Hi all, some days ago I was watching some videos of LGB G-Gauge trains running in the garden. They're big and very well done...and really out of budget for me. So I wondered if I could replicate such a big locomotive using Lego. And trying to be cheap!!! A big train like that needs: an XXL PF Motor; a simple PF battery box; a PF receiver; a PF remote control. All in all we're at about 50 Euros from Lego Shop. 4 large flanged wheels from Lego or BBB (3 Euros each - 12 Euros) - our total increases to, let's say, 65 euros. Then, it's time to think about a body - it must be as simple as possible, sturdy, and without too many special parts. Since I was not particularly inspired (in these days I'm playing a lot with the new Lego Boost set) , I used a well known Lego model. Yes, it is what is seems - a 7720 multiplied by 2 - 32 studs long, 12 studs wide. Even the Voltage is doubled . This was painted blue, otherwise the two red "lights" would disappear. Since track is now quite small - I chose to draw only one central buffer, suggesting this is a narrow gauge model. As you can see it is simple as it can be. I think I can try to stay below the 100 euros limit. Then, this weekend I began to prepare the mock-up to test how heavy it could be, if everything fits inside and so on. Here below you can see the yet unfinished 7720 on steroids . In this photo I used a 45mm track from G-gauge - it is actually a part of LGB track. This big girl will be able to travel on both tracks. Reasoning in studs, the L-gauge puts 4 studs between the wheels, while the G-gauge requires exactly 5 studs. Since wheels will be mounted internally respect to the fake suspensions, both gauges can be achieved by adding or removing two half Technic bushes between the wheels (one per side, so 4 studs + 0.5 stud + 0.5 stud =5 studs). But we want to be cheap - and LGB track are not - so we'll keep the standard Lego track. You cannot see it from the photos, but the black part is all made by 3x2 and 4x2 parts - too small - but I had only those around. Inter-axle is 15 studs - BBB wheels can handle the R40 radius, but this is an heavy locomotive, so I think I'll shorten the inter-axle to 13 studs. Now I'm studying how to transmit power to the wheels - I was tempted to use a chain-driven system based on lego 3711 parts, but it costs a lot and I'm not sure how much weight and torque it can handle. I'll end using the Lego 32702 gears - they seem right and are cheap enough. Let's see how this develops!!! I personally am very curious to see it in action! Ciao! Davide
