    Lego Train Web Project

Hi Guys, I just wanted to share with you a project I am working on in my free time. The idea is to find a great use for the new WebGL capabilities found in most modern browsers (including mobile & tablet). I also want to get TLG interested at some point as an additional resource for the 'games' section of their website or as a stand alone project, much like Google's Build with Chrome. This is just a prototype for now but I am working on the interactivity and will soon turn it into a demo. The beauty of this project is that no plug-in's are required and the code is written entirely in Javascript. This means you should just be able to type in or click on a link (when complete) and dive straight in! I want to make this into a simple train sim game for kids (and fun big people) but it will also feature certain customisable features such as lay your own track and create your own trains (not models i'm afraid). I'll be working on this heavily over the summer this year but just wondered what you guys think or if you have any suggestions? Additionally, although this is a bit optimistic, I am looking for a programmer to help with the project as I am a mere designer, and quite frankly, it's a miracle I got this far! I will get the demo working by September however... maybe in time to include the new 2014 Lego City models! Update: Just to point out the project direction...
  5. I don't know how many of you are fans of A Song of Ice and Fire/Game of Thrones, but here's a MOC inspired by A Storm of Swords and the third season of the show. An edited shot: Enjoy!
  6. This being a board game, I wasn't sure where to put this. So mods feel free to move this if necessary. I found this game while looking at some old stuff, and my friend and i decided to play it for old times sake. bionicle: the quest game this being a board game, this review will be a little different from others, there's not really a piece count or set number, so instead, I'll go over how to play the game. six toa inika game pieces are included, allowing six players. the goal is to get to the finish space. each player begins with two "quest cards" which may help you by allowing you to move ahead a few extra spaces, or by sending other players back. if you land on a green space, you draw a card. if you land on a red space, you take the catapult and try to knock down the red piraka "hakann" card. if you hit him, you move ahead an extra space. if you land on a blank space, nothing happens. once someone reaches the "mask of life" finish space, that person wins the game. the box mine is very worn out, my friends used to play it all the time years ago. back the instructions the instructions don't really have pages, it's just one piece folded in half. but the are clear and easy to follow. the game contents the minifigures/game pieces the toa figures resemble the bionicle minifigures instead of the full size figures, but they are represented well. update. I've taken a picture of the game piece alongside one of the bionicle minifigures for comparison. To the left is a regular minifigure, in the center is the game piece included with the game, and to the right is a bionicle minifigure. the catapult: I find this piece odd because it looks like it belongs to a different game. other than that, it does work, it can launch very far. the piraka card: the card is rather easy to knock down, but this game is intended for 8-12 year olds, so i really cant complain. the board: the board is actually very neat, the game starts here, where the player race to the center to get a head start, when a player reaches the center space, the board unfolds. the player who reached the center space stays there, while the other players go to the start space, where they can choose to go the top or bottom path. the also board has land marks from the bionicle world. apologies for the blurry picture. verdict: It's playable game, though a little boring at times. but it is made for kids, so it's really not that bad. I'll give it a 7/10. more pictures can be seen on my flickr. thanks for reading!
  7. This is my first time posting in this subforum, so bear with me if there are individual guidelines in which I'm not understanding. Anyway, now that that's out of the way, I know there are a lot of MMO and avid gamers here, so I thought I'd share this new game I discovered. It's called "The Universe Project", and basically it is another game where you do whatever you want. It begins with a vast planet, based on earth, and comparatively the size of the earth in the game. Players can build, advance, steal, fight, explore, etc. You can play the game however you want, based on choices and knowledge. Well, that's enough of me rambling. With this link, http://strt.cc/?ref=c2dyaW1tOTdAZ21haWwuY29t , you can see the video they have that overviews the game. It's still under development, but by putting your email in you can join thousands so far in gaining direct access to news, beta versions, and opportunities for discounts and other game rewards. Anyway, I thought some of you would be interested in the game, I know I'm exited!
  8. Hello Everyone! I would like to play a game, or you can call it a psychological experiment as well. Since several Collectable Minifigures series had been introduced, I can’t help thinking that every series has a specific “tone”. In some series there are many figures with a white ground color, while in other series many are dark. I guess it was not intentional from TLG, but it is there I think. I wondered how I could interpret it, and I decided I will make a 4x4 “palette” from each series. In every palette one color represents one minifigure. Deciding which color should be used for a certain minifig, I used the CGI image of the series, and picked ONE color for each figure from it. So these are not official Lego colors. In many cases the choice was pretty clear: the Lizard man is green obviously, but which color to use for the small clown? Red, blue or green? Sometimes this one color is a mixture of the specific colors of the minifig – I didn’t want to use plain white color for many minifigs. Doing these palettes was great fun, after each one I felt satisfied, thinking “Oh yes, it really looks like the essence of the series. However, putting these palettes next to each other for this post, it seemed that there are many similarities. But if you look them thoroughly, you will see that all are unique. And this is what I ask from you: Guess! Which one is which? Maybe some of you – or all of you – think that this guy has lost his pills. “What is he talking about?” “These are just a bunch of colors!” But I do hope, that some of you will have a great time solving it. 4 1 7 8 5 9 6 3 10 2 SOLVED!

    Game of Feathers

Game of Feathers It’s like Game of Thrones. You know the Iron Throne…but with Feathers. I recently, finally, acquired some Black Flacon minifigures (5). I love classic Lego pieces, and this is the first time I’ve gotten some nice old Castle figures. Anyways, I felt that the Black Flacons needed their own throne—but with their style of course! Hence the Feather Throne—in stark contrast to the Iron Throne—this is the most comfortable chair in the world. Enjoy! ~Nemo
  10. A scene from old SNES game "Gundam Wing Endless Duel" which I built for MocAthalon 2013. (If you are not familiar with the game, .) The creation was made for the category "It's me, Mario" where the idea was to build a character from a videogame. In the creation, you can see Mercurius and Gundam Sandrock facing in other in a scene inspired by "Wing / Wing Zero stage". I first thought about building that cool "rising horizon" background to the MOC too but due the tight schedule, I had to leave it off. Still, I am quite happy with the outcome, especially the mechas come out quite nicely. This was my first time building such a small mechas which proved to be fun challenge.More pictures available at MOCPages, Flickr and Brickshelf.

    Pirate games

I have read a couple of posts and read the rules of Evil Stevie's pirate game. It seems really cool, but seems focused on the usage of ships (not exclusively, of course). I thought what about all these fortification sets. Are there any games that could involve using these? I am starting brainstorming for a game involving most of the pirate lego sets that I have. The intention is for a 2 player game, but one that could easily be played alone as well since dice are used. I plan on having players have a set amount of figures on each end, and to set up and orient their bases on their sides (cannon attacks can only occur within the actual constraints of the set - think Cannon cove). On each turn, players can move their figures, have them pilot boats or ships, or attack opponents using cannons or their figures. The objective could be (I haven't decided) to capture your enemies' treasure chests, take over their bases, or to eliminate all their units from battle. I plan on also having each unit have a set of attack and defense scores against other units, close and long range attacks, and how effectively they can pilot boats and ships. And I plan on having each set have a unique strength or strengths and capture methods. Are there other games like this that may exist? If there is something similar I probably don't want to spend a terrible amount of time continuing the development of this game.

Hawken - War is a Machine

Hey everyone! Hawken Just had a big Beta Event for the weekend so I fianlly got off my butt and got some game time in, had a blast! Between this and Mech Warrior Online looks like we'll have lots of Mech goodness for sometime! Hawken has a great Aesthetic so naturally it got my creative juices flowing! I had been having a good run with the Rocketeer mech, so I designed this guy based on it(or at leat it's weapons) Had a lot of fun with this, Hawkens Aesthetic and my Dense Building style meshed really well and I'm really liking hte overall size I got here, big enough for figs but small enough to be able to (relatively) easily build more than one or two! I think I'll try to build something based on the Assault Mech next, I've grown attached to it's big square head! So hit me up with any C&C you guys have, but keep in mind that these won't be you average LDD MOC, these are built and colored with Actual Bricks in mind! There are NO Floating parts, NO iffy connections and NO Parts in un-produced Colors(mistakes still happen thought), just keep it in mind. Mike

A family playing Pong in the 70s

A small MOC showing a family playing Pong in the 70s. I got the inspiration to build it from an old Nintendo advertisment.
