Minerva is a fast frigate whose sole purpose is to keep the Oceans safe from those Pirates, and dare I may say a ship that has been sorely missing in the LEGO World. She comes with 12 Minifigures and one small cat to keep the food supplies safe from rats. Oilskin Johnny was nervous. More than usual. Apparently he was Captain of the Ship. He was pretty sure captains shouldn't be afraid of their crew. The casual violence, greed, and maybe the worst case of scurvy he'd ever encountered. The Captain's quarters were cozy. Johnny was sure the crew would make themselves at home. He planned on sleeping in the dinghy. La Rongeuse was a pretty ship with an impressive broadside. The chains were an early attempt at a simple beakhead. Stern shot. I really like how the rat detailing turned out. As the time for his cruise approaches, Oilskin Johnny is wondering if he can somehow avoid the whole business. I have not licensed the ship yet; I'm interested in trading the ship license for a large property. Let me know! A 20-gun frigate assigned to hunting those pirates! Also carries a treasure chest, for those who dare... Or perhaps the appearance of a ship like this has forced the pirates into hiding? This is an extremely ambitious design with a smoothly curving hull built on a sturdy technic frame and a detailed, Minifigure-friendly, interior. I have built many sailing ships in LEGO before, and this is my best work so far, including all the techniques and features that I always wanted to include. The capstan is also attached to a string reel and can be made working. Further details below deck include the galley, storage compartment and captain's cabin. Most of the top deck can be removed to access the gun deck. Minifigures can stand below deck and all gaps in the hull are filled. The EF76 Nebulon-B Frigate has to be one of my favorite ships from the original trilogy. After rewatching the beautiful ending scene in Episode V - The Empire Strikes Back, I decided to take on the Midi-Scale challenge once again. This very compact model is made of 1,464 pieces and measures 48cm. With this design, I tried to maximize the density factor in the smallest, most convenient size possible. The Nebulon-B features a movie-accurate, fully asymmetrical design, from side panels to greebles and surface detail. It also includes cannons, sensors, an accurate and intricate bridge section, a streamlined water tank, and many small details seen on the original ship. Reproducing the various front assemblies, small buildings in the back and all the greebles around the engine section took lots of fine-tuning, mindful part choices, and fun gap-filling sessions to closely match the ILM prop model. The building process isn't too long nor complex: I once again went for a fully modular approach, and the reasonable part count makes it both a manageable and relatively affordable build. The EF76 comes with a wide built-in stand and can be moved around easily. It can even be grabbed and held by its long middle section which is made of a sturdy technic liftarm configuration. ► Instructions for the Nebulon-B are available at BrickVault! I would like to present my first ship, out of what will hopefully end up as a fleet of many more! Her name is L'Aurelié, she's a 44-gun heavy frigate. On her lower-deck she carries 28x 24 pounder long guns. On her upper deck she carries 16x 18 pounder long guns, interchangable for carronades! (Not yet designed). Of these cannons, 2 of them are in bow chase and another 2 in aft chase configuration. Overall she is about 110 centimeters long with bowsprit included. On the waterline she is about 80 centimeters long. At her tallest point she is 72 centimeters tall. Thematically I went with the flags and ensign of the Russian navy in the 18th century, as I just thought these flags looked cool and fit the colours of the ship quite well! The printed flags on top of the masts I got from Brickprint in the Netherlands, the large flag at the rear is just a small table flag I took apart with only the flag part remaining. Sadly, she has no sails and will not get them either, as due to the place she is displayed is right below my AC-unit, meaning that whenever it's blowing air it would essentially mess up or even rip off the sails in the worst case scenario... As such, I have decided to not do sails on her. (Which fits my "agenda" anyways as I don't have proper sewing capabilities to make actually nice looking sails anyways) I hope you guys enjoy her! Hello! It's been awhile. But I am back at it again. This time going back to a previous build to build it in real bricks. I give you my SHIPtember(ish) progress (if years of no activity in a single build count LOL). So far I have 90% of the stbd side complete. It was more a matter of organizing all the 7000-something bricks I got for it. My last point working on it was making the Warrior drones and one engine back in 2019. Stopped as I got burnt out. But near the end of August I started building again after buying 3 hardware organizing boxes. Separated all I had into those and things sort of flowed together as I figured out how to use the instruction setting in Stud.io. Enjoy! This is my WIP model of HMS Diana, a fifth rate 38-gun Artois class frigate launched in 1794. If you're interested in the details of the real ship there is a book in the "Anatomy of the Ship" series dedicated to her, written by David White. That is where I gotten all of the dimensions and draughts I have used as guides for this model. I've built the ship to appear as she would have during the French Revolutionary and Napoleonic Wars, with "berthed-up" barricades on the forecastle and quarterdeck. I am planning to make the rigging using the same approach I did for my first frigate, which can be seen here. I also plan to raise the stern and quarter galleries a fair bit, since they are sitting too low right now. Hello, I've not shown a vessel here in forever. How about a Frigate? Started in early 2019, this ship stood on my shelf unfinished for almost 2 years at this point. I finally decided to complete the rigging and add the missing sails the last couple weeks. I think this might be my most elaborate rigging job yet, hope it shows! La Flora is inspired by mid 18th century french frigates. First started but abandoned by Captain Green Hair, I purchased the parts from him and tried to stay close to the initial idea. Sails are old curtains, coloured with coffee. Not a single reddish brown piece was used in this ship. Ratlines are glued. No time for long description, here are the pics! BUILDING INSTRUCTIONS There be a new 5th rate frigate found in these waters. She be called the Fer Maiden, pierced for 36 guns. She's armed with 18 long guns on her upper (gun) deck with a further 14 carronades on her weather decks. 2 long gun bow chasers and 2 larger carronades on her stern complete her firepower. She's built at Theme-scale: a slick, fast hunter that can protect merchants ... or hunt and take prizes. In this build she is flying the black, but every smart pirate knows that a letter of marque from a faction's admiralty is worth more than pieces of eight. A "chest" of alternate flags would be a great compliment. Features: a working capstan to weigh anchor, a stove to feed her crew, a furnished cabin for her captain, standing and running rigging with yards that rotate to accurately portray various sailing profiles, and removable foc'sle and quarter decks to allow access to her gun deck and interior. This is designed and built using real parts first before I made it digital in Stud.io and uses 100% legal build techniques and pieces. Now, keep that prize 2 points off our larboard bow on a broad reach, throw all sheets to the wind and let her eat. Build details: this started as an evolution from my earlier Barracuda frigate (21322 x2) but quickly became her own endeavor. I tried to nail the desired level of play vs realism, staying in theme scale and hull sections. My reasoning is that it can integrate nicer with peoples' official set collections if they choose. Because of that I decided to leave the molded shrouds off the mizzenmast, which allowed me to get the proportions of the sail plan "correct" whilst still allowing for full rotation of the yards and spanker. I fully realize some of the concessions and compromises I had to make but I like the result and challenge. Apologies for the lack of detail shots, I will add more when I assemble her crew. Full respect to you long-time MOC builders pioneering the space, and hopefully when viewing her with the theme-scale perspective you understand why I did certain things. One of which is only 4 mid sections, though her length is much closer to that of a 5-mid-frigate. I am currently building her modular lower hull so she can be displayed/played with a variety of ways - especially on an island beach getting careened, or perhaps in a yard getting her copper. The 22 guns Frigate : The Applecid Felipe de la Manzana commands were top priority for the Elysabethtown shipyards. They achive in a time record a heavy Frigate for the Apple lord and baptised it the Applecid (an easy pun ) as it is a war ship made to kill (Cid...) and it's belonging to the Apple trade empire of Felipe... This ship will be licensed as a Class 6 Frigate. It is the fastest ship I ever made. That's why it's mainly built upon the new BSB style and plan just in order to spare me some headache in development and win me some time in building... And it's the best way to show my new green sails taken from the BSB red ones ! -
Captain Surlecoup, as an Olean privateer, made his first appearance in the Westface, while the RNTC was carrying out a mission in Terraversa. OL's mission in Westface had to solicit the captain's help after having detained by the local authority, despite their prior efforts in rescueing shipwrecked TVsans. The whole thing turned out to be a trap set by the lawless TV militia, and without the intervention of a more reasonable mind, war between OL and TV could have taken place years before. Then, our relentless captain has proved his competence and savoir-faire during the Lotus incident, delivering precious information about the motivation behind that sudden incursion of Lotii in El Oleonda, and in the subsequent sea battle, he, with his samourai friends, captured a Lotii warjunk. It's in recognition of his devotion to the Crown that this frigate was specially designed and built for him. In line with the latest advancement in OL's naval architecture, this ship has the particularity of offering more room for the crew, allowing them to better adapt to a prolonged journey on sea. To be licensed as a class 6 ship. OOC: I beat my record on shipbuilding with these two ships, as my family and I endured another turn of knock down due to the virus where I live, which gave me a lot of building time, but the down side is the delivery service was down too, so I had to work with the existing bricks. This frigate was built after a model of French frigate that I found on the net, it's labeled as "a privateer frigate" and has the particularity of having an enclosed weather deck, or some sort of extended poop deck, not commonly seen on other frigates I think.

[Docked Ship] "HMS Legion" Class 7 Heavy Frigate with 28 Guns

With recent events transpiring on the brick seas, paranoia and hostile thoughts continue to plague many minds. One under the influence of this paranoia, an unnamed governor (NPC) under the command of Corrington, has ordered a personal heavy frigate to be built to patrol surrounding waters of any and all possible "hostilities". After the ship's completion, it set course for the governor, but oddly on its arrival, the governor has disappeared. The island was charted and the governor was heavily sought after, but with no luck. Perhaps his paranoia got the better of him? Or was it those pesky tribals? The facts of his disappearance may never be unraveled but one fact does remain: the Legion remains docked, waiting... Pirates, scoundrels, Oleanders, Corries, Eslandolians, and merchants alike all want one thing, to take on the seas with the Legion. Captain William Marcus of the Legion and his crew have now turned to the pleasure of coin. What is to become of the crew of the Legion? Will their colors remain true and their loyalty to Corrington come back, or will they burn their colors and turn to the rebellious side of the Sea Rats? Hello, I didn't plan to start a thread for this frigate but after months of work, I knew I needed creative input. So, here goes: I'm redoing the Hull ship bit by bit, here we go. My latest MOC: L'Hermione - frégate de douze française She took me about 6 months to complete. I am very proud of her and this is my biggest MOC so far. This is also only the second XVIIIth century ship I am building as I was building WW2 Royal Navy ships before. Here we go, almost exactly 3 years after publishing about my Star Wars Medical Corps, I finally completed the capital ship that I envisioned to build. Better late than ever... Please discover below my DP20M Medical Frigate. For additional background and history, I invite you to read my original Star Wars Medical Corps topic. DP20M Medical Frigate by Veynom, on Flickr About the DP20M: The DP20M is an unarmed modified version of the famous DP20 Corellian Gunship. As often with vehicles and spacecrafts assigned to the medical units at the end of the Republic Galactic era and during the Empire, these were either 2nd-grade ships, either refurbished ships. The DP20M is no exception to the rule. The structure of the ship being sturdy and robust, it was common to find DP20 that could still travel around the galaxy but whose weaponry was damaged during combats. Some of these DP20 were then recycled into medical frigate by completely removing the weapon and extra shielding systems. The spared volume allowed for the installation of additional health support and medical equipment. The bact tank can be opened to welcome a minifig. Several accessories are available to play around. - The small hangar can host a speeder and a first-aid medical container. Accessories can also be stored on the wall. The lateral panels open vertically and rotating bars are available to block them in open position. The manipulation is very easy and can be done blindly. The build is sturdy, easy to carry and fully swooshable. Once the technic backbone frame was drafted, the build went fast, starting from the rear until the cockpit. Lot of SNOT in many locations. The "good old piece of junk" aspect is emphasized through the extensive use of old "not so white anymore" bricks from the 70s and 80s. About 3 years ago, I made a Nebulon-b out of parts I had at my house, and really liked it. People were asking me for instructions to buy it, and I didnt have any. Now, three years later, I have finally gotten around to upgrading it and making instructions. With that being said, here is my new and improved Nebulon-b Escort Frigate:I built this with the main goal of making it movie accurate, sturdy, good for display, but most of all, CHEAP! All of the 1895 pieces will cost you about $190 to order through bricklink, which is less than many other mocs Ive seen that can be very expensive. This was very fun to build, and way better than my old model. Disclaimer: I have not built this version out of physical bricks, and am planning to buy it for myself once I gain enough money to buy the parts myself. The point is, the inside structure is almost identical to my old one, and it is sturdy. The stand will be enough to hold it up.I did not include an interior, but there is enough space in the main part under the antennas for two minifigs sitting down. It can easily be decorated if you are into interiors in your models.The ship looks good from all angels and has a little unfilled space which you can barely see. Ahoy Eurobricks! Let me introduce this build, based on classic 6285 set - the one and only "Black Seas Barracuda" Inspiration I took 4 mid sections, and add mast. no less or more. For this setup the hull has no need to be widened to look right in my opinion. Also, I don't like much general view of the well known builders technique, which I call "minecraft style", so I tried to make as much as possible lower profile, (frigate silhouette) of the 18th-19th Century with flat decks to avoid stairs of pieces and so on. The next step I realized that can't put as much detail into it in that scale as I wanted first so I decided to make this ship look more simple, classic without crazy rigging or something. Just similar to official Lego old but gold ships sets and between realism. Build It’s build to transport as strong as possible and at the same time this ship is modular! So I can (quite) easily split hull up for the 3 parts (front, middle, back) and also remove each side to get more opportunity to play with! And yes! All known Lego original play features are on board. A place to store chest, cannonballs and cargo, lift crane, a capstan to raising and lowering an anchor with my own design, access to gun deck and firepower and captain cabin with full interior, working compass and of course working ship wheel which turns the rudder (similar to 6286 set). Also added customs sails total of nine. Absolutely love the technic (of my own? Please correct) that I used for the front. There is often a tons of slopes I saw on other ships builds. The back (under the cabin) has also some replace technic for the slopes which I never saw before. (pls correct). The middle uses simply slopes technic to get the right angle, and mount, which I designed. Seems nothing to add here Hope you enjoy! Let me know in the comments !

I was never a huge fan of this ship... but once I started modeling, I couldn't stop. It's a unique ship in terms of shape, and, at only 39 studs, it's at a very manageable scale. Same scale as @Kristof's Venator.This is one that I plan to build, and I'm confident in its rigidity, despite the skeletal structure. Admittedly, the gray 3x3x2 dome top (pn 88293) is too tall for the rear armor plating, but I didn't like the blocky aesthetic of the alternatives. A 3x3x1 dome top would be ideal, or even a wedge 3x3 variant of pn 43708, but, alas, we can't have everything in life. Renders UPDATE: Here's a shot of the build next to Kristof's Venator. Just browsed through the forum and could not find this anywhere. Think I just forgot to share it. Mentioned her some time ago in the General MOC-Discussion, WIP-Help, and Teaser Thread. If she is hiding somewhere in the forum, I do hope someone has the chops to remove this topic. Scale 1:40’ish L: 150 cm B: 26 cm H: 114 Bricks approx. 19300. Looking back at my earlier designs I found that my version of the HMS Surprise, just like the HMS Ontario, was somewhat wanting. This is a model of the HMS Surprise launched as the corvette Unité in 1794. In 1796, The Royal Navy conquered, refitted and renamed her. She later on chased pirates in the Caribbean for several years. The ship plays a central role in the Aubery-Maturin stories. This includes the movie from 2003 Master and Commander: The Far Side of the World. The HMS Rose, which was later, renamed HMS Surprise, plays the “role” as HMS Surprise. Neat, but somewhat confusing. Hi everyone, after having introduced myself I am here to share with you the construction of my first ship that still does not have a name. the base from which I started, as you can see from the hull, is the black pearl. the idea is to inspire me to the black pearl, but without faithfully creating the ship of the film .... in fact, my ship will be different both in form and colors. For the project, being a little expert, I started with the techniques of the captain green hair, which I thank very much for this resource. I do not pretend to create a historical ship, but a fantasy ship that is, however, realistic. The ship "should" be a cross between a small frigate and a brig. The hull includes the bow, 3 intermediate sections, while the stern will be made only with the pieces I have available. At the moment the armament provides 12 guns, but I'm considering to insert others on a further bridge ... if I advance the pieces to build it :) I share with you the first images of this work, where you can see that the sides have been created, I still have to design the stern and the bow. I await from you, experts, a positive or negative opinion of the work done up to now and possible suggestions. thank you very much, Giuseppe

This took me a few months to complete, for a few reasons. I decided to post this, even though I technically haven't finished this project, but this past week I decided to post this weekend if I couldn't think of anything new to add. The genesis of this project was my modding of my Brick Bounty (nothing much, just some improvements here and there), and I wanted to create something more substantial. To be clear, this is my first ship MOC, as well as my second large MOC. I don't say this in hope for leniency (go ahead and bash me), I just want to give some context. I recognize this as a learning project; indeed, you can see some progress (albeit not much) in the pictures below. I'm already doing MSP Phase II, which incorporates a few techniques that improve the design quite a bit. This project was divided into two batches: Batch 1, which is a Supply Ship and a Armed/Converted Merchantman; and Batch 2, which is Frigate, a Prison Hulk, and a Sheer Hulk. I wanted something that gave me more than just a warship, and I think I covered my bases fairly well. In addition, this project (and to a lesser extent Phase II) is a kind of a bridge between official Lego sets (in my case, the Brick Bounty) and bigger and better MOCs (such as the beautiful specimens here on Eurobricks); as such, I wasn't too concerned with making great MOC (or even necessarily a good one), but rather a decent one that would go fine with Lego's ships, and perhaps (hopefully) wouldn't look too out of place alongside proper MOCs. Batch One: The first ship up is the 'Supply Ship', a.k.a. the Tub. This is meant to be a ship used to move troops, equipment, or victuals to wherever they're needed. It's not pretty, but it gets the job done. I started off by making sure a minifigure can stand straight up inside (5 bricks tall). I've kept this throughout this project, but I have changed to a smaller height in Phase II. I also used the 1x2x3 inverted slope for the hull sides. This is a real thing, though it's more used in modern times than in the Age of Sail (a flare, as opposed to a tumblehome). This shows the inside, and probably the main point/draw of this batch- the anchor system. You can see the channels for the anchor chains; string might be better, but I wanted to use chains like Lego does (there's a couple reasons why, mainly because chains are more readily available to me). The end of the chains are attached to the top one, and wound in between the two, similar in concept to what's on the Brick Bounty (sort of). The bracket is meant for a nameplate or something similar (the inverted slopes around it can be removed and replaced to widen it if necessary). 'Modular Ship' (Supply Version) #3 by Jonathan Wallace, on Flickr The second part is the Armed/Converted Merchantman', a.k.a the Lumberer (I don't know if it would actually qualify for a 'HM_'). This is basically an 'upgraded' version of the Supply Ship, armed with cannons and carronades to help defend, and comfortably keep pace with, various convoys. 'Modular Ship' (Converted Merchantman) #3 by Jonathan Wallace, on Flickr Batch Two: The third ship (and the pinnacle of Phase I) is the Frigate. In the British system, which I base most of my information and inspiration from, it's actually not a frigate, but rather a 'Post Ship'. Many Sixth Rates were of these types, but all were commonly called frigates anyways, and so that's what I labeled this as. I found a picture early on of HMS Euryalus that I took a lot of inspiration from, if not direct translation of some design elements. This is also the only ship that's actually modular; the rest are built in a way to make it easy to make it modular, but also easier to build in the first place (I admit a bit of laziness probably crept in there, but I wanted to move on to other stuff). Here's the ship, piece by piece, form bow to stern. There's 20 pictures, so I put it here to shorten the post a bit. The fourth and fifth 'ships' aren't really ships- at least not anymore. These are what are called hulks (specifically a prison hulk and a sheer hulk). They were once warships, but once they were too old to be really useful anymore, they were converted into some kind of hulk. I've searched on here before, but I haven't found anybody who has made either one of them. I'm sure the talented shipwrights here could have a much better crack at such projects than I, but even if I just spread the idea around, that would be enough for me. The fourth ship is the Prison/Accommodation Hulk. These were used as floating prisons to keep prisoners of war, mutineers, or just overflow from the regular prisons on land. Accommodation hulks were like floating barracks; used in a similar way to the prison hulks. The fifth and final ship is the Sheer Hulk. These craft were floating cranes, usually implemented in putting masts onto new ships (or replacement masts for those ships that lost theirs in some way, shape, or form). After the Age of Sail, though still in the 19th Century, purpose-built sheer hulks were made to help increase maritime construction. Multiple capstans were used to power the crane, and the sides/railings of the ships were usually cut down near the deck. Modular Ship (Sheer Hulk) #1 by Jonathan Wallace, on Flickr I've found many photos of different sheer hulks, and all have some different kind of combination (rigging, number of crane arms/booms, etc.), but I tried to build what was sort of the average of what I saw in my reference photos. I didn't end up finishing this one, as I couldn't really make the crane fit together quite right. If anyone can think of anything, feel free to make your own (just make sure to send me a link ). I haven't made instructions for this (mostly I don't feel it's really a MOC worthy of it, but also I'm busy/lazy), but I do plan to make them (*ahem* eventually ). Phase II has already begun; I'll still be using prefab hulls, and I plan to make a Third, Fourth, Fifth, and Sixth Rate. I've already discounted a First or Second Rate, but I'm holding out on a Two Decker. Although I will work on a Three Decker a bit in my Testbed before I close Phase II. Hello dear ship-builders, I wasn't active for a long time now. Some of you might remember me from building the "HMS Bulwark", a 74 gun third rate ship of the line. It was in March, when she got a new bow. I never really liked the old one, way too angular. Then I came across the quarter saucer base (30201) of the 1998 Stingray Stormer (6198-1). It perfectly fitted the desired shape. But now for my frigate, probably being named "HMS Argonaut". She will become a 38 gun fifth rate frigate. More pictures can be seen, following one of the flickr links. Supposed to be a sister ship to the Bulwark, I think about changing the white stripe back to yellow. What do you think? Also for similarity I will probably keep the windows on her stern. They may look to big, but I already tried smaller ones and have to say, I like the current ones better. I hope to progress faster than last time. It mostly depends on me willing to buy the needed bricks. As for the rig and last details, I already have the ideas. So far so good. I hope you all continue to have great joy reassembling bricks into sightworthy constructions! Wellesley.
