  1. Let me say beforehand that my picture taking qualities need improvement, just like the hardware... The first part of the photo's were taken with my very, very outdated digicam. Halfway in i got so fed up with it that i took the remaining pictures with my cell phone. Those ones are a bit darker and less sharp. This is part two, and if you are wondering where part one is... It's somewhere in the nocturnus thread, but i never made a separate topic due to the fact it was an incomplete build. I'll possibly remake part one in the future. The Story of Lord Mortis - Part 2 - The road to Nocturnus Prologue After a avalonian graverobber awakened Lord Mortis by accident, the dark lord decided it was time again to rise. Taking the graverobber's horse and his blood, Mortis set out to nocturnus, looking to awake his servants. However, the tomb of lord mortis was in the southeast part of what these days is mitgardia. Traveling to the Kelra Labyrinths to enter nocturnus would take three days and would be too much of a risk for Lord Mortis. Being a vampire, he must seek shelter during the day and during that moment he is most vunerable. The shortest route would be one of the old mountain paths that lie in the northern part of the rakath mountains, in the past used as trade routes to port Wrath. Those paths were not commonly used because of the dangers that reside within these mountains, but due to the current state of afairs in the darklands more and more people are desperate enough to risk their lives in hope to reach mitgardia... On one of these paths, we find three bandits. Lured by the possible valuables that the refugees have, they decided to set up shop on one of the trails. By the looks of them they are either mummies, or leppars... Carg: Hey pops, how is the fish coming along? Raghas: Well son, it looks to bake just nicely! It was a good thing the last sob we robbed had a bit of cooking oil on him. Carg: Great. We were very lucky that Rigge cought that fish, im looking forward to a meal that isnt only bread this time. Raghas: Haha, i agree with you on that one, son. Carg: Wait, i hear a horse coming! Rigge! Get to your position! Rigge: Got it! Carg runs towards the oncoming traveler. With a raised voice he yells: He who goes there, halt! State your buisness here! Lord Mortis dismounts.. Lucius: I am just a simple traveler looking for a path into nocturnus, not looking to do any mischief to you or your company. Carg: Into Nocturnus? Hrmph! Only a fool would want to go to nocturnus these days! But very well then, we will only let you pass if you pay us a toll! Lucius: I dont have any coin or gold on me, but i do have this sword... Carg: Is that a threat? You would do wise to behold the head we put on a pike there.. That was the last bastard who threatened us! You are outnumbered! If you value your life, i suggest you cough up some gold or turn around to try the Kelra Labyrinths! Rigge: That horse is worth something... Let's just kill the fool and take his horse! Raghas: We will have none of that! Boys, put down your weapons! Carg: What? Why? We can take this guy easy! Raghas: We are not going to kill an old friend of mine, that's why! Lucius: Hah! Long time no see, Raghas Memnon! Raghas: Lucius Mortis! You are a sight for sore eyes! How have you been, my friend? Raghas invites Lord Mortis for a simple meal together with his sons, and they talk for hours about all the things that have come to pass the last fivehundred years, and the current developments conserning the black spire.. Lucius: ...And then i sucked the guy dry, and took his horse. The scum never knew what hit him! Raghas: Hahaha! Serves that bastard right! So, now that you are heading into nocturnus, where will you go to? Lucius: I'll be traveling to Harbringers Haven to awaken some of my old men, and then off to Shadowmere to visit a friend. Raghas: These mountains are quite dangerous when traveling alone. Please, let my son Carg escort you to Harbringers Haven... Carg: But father, what about you and Rigge? Raghas: Don't worry, we'll be just fine! Rigge is an excellent shot, and your old man can still swing a sword. After saying goodbye, Carg and Lord Mortis mount up and continue the mountain path into nocturnus... But one thing they failed to notice... Is that they are being watched.... To be continued..... Well, i hoped you liked the story! This is my biggest moc up to date, 48x48 studs and i wanted depth, so it also has some height to it! I had to use dark orange bricks for the back because i had those in obundance, this whole build has been quite the challenge to not run out of certain bricks before completion... (had to Bricklink dark bley wedges like two times, and i allready had alot!) Total view: Some details: Somehow just all rock seemed too dull, but a gateway too grand for this moc... I've opted a guard tower too... Could not think of something good. This was what i came up with, sort of a LOTR ripp-off, on a smaller scale and no water. The tree was also added to break up the all-rock-ness and following Lord Derfel Cadarn's tree building guide i made a wonderfull tree right off the bat! Unfortunatly it did not fit the moc that well, so i had to adapt. The result however, i like very much. At first i wanted to go with a bandit camp with campfire, but who needs a fire if you have loads of hot molten lava? So running short on black slopes, my pet shop modular had it's roof gone all of a sudden. My rock technique could use some snot in there, but due to the 3D-ish build i did not dare to try yet. Did try some new things like the lava and tree building, and its a massive 48x48 studs! Cast: From left to right: Rigge Raghas Carg I'm happy with this build, i sure hope you enjoyed reading this topic, and C&C Welcome!
  2. The life as a merchant in the Kaliphlin desert can be very hard, but for some traders who know the secret wells along the scarcely visible camel trails there is much profit to be made by taking these shortcuts! Previous builds
  3. The ongoing troubles in the Darklands has forced the displacement of many Nocturnian families, both rich and poor alike. Whole villages emptied after rumors arrived of marauding armies in the countryside, who forced villagers to provide quarter and food while ransacking those who resisted. Mostly the "pillagers" were nothing more serious than a group of bandits or, on occasion, a few Dragon Masters, displaced themselves after the fall of Dragon Keep and in need of nothing more malicious than a warm meal and bed. But troops carrying the Black Spire's standards had been seen more frequently in recent times. Reports grew every week of villages which, suspected of aiding the rebel cause, had been razed by Raavage's soldiers. This growing fear became too much for many of Nocturnus' already struggling people. Life here is hard enough without the constant threat from pillaging armies. So what was at first a trickle of refugees became a steady stream, as whole families packed up and sought shelter with relatives or friends in the quieter areas of Nocturnus - or, in some cases, in other lands. In fact, perhaps nowhere was the exodus more noticeable than in Nocturnus' border communities, where relative safety could be just a day or two's march away. Deciding to start their lives over in the lands of another Guild must have been a difficult decision to make. Those with plenty of darics in their pockets of course had an easier time, but poorer families had to face not only distrust in their new homes but also little to no employment. Most daunting to these refugees, however, was the journey itself. Mitgardia, with its harsh and unforgiving terrain, was most suitably to the hard-living people of Nocturnus, but neither rich nor poor could avoid the treacherous, mountainous roads connecting the two lands, where one misstep could prove disastrous. Often the men of the house had stayed behind to sell the family's property - or, most unfortunately, had themselves been forced into the ranks of passing armies - so these perilous treks were made mostly by woman, children and the old. A few of the older villagers, who had perhaps fought in the past and still kept a rusting sword or old bow hidden in their homes, had to be relied on to provide some measure of protection for the other refugees. Still, the well-patrolled roads kept most bandits away, and the majority of those who dared the journey were successful. Although their troubles would not be over, the Nocturnian refugees could at least hope for peace and a chance to raise their families. But hope, alas, can be fleeting. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- tl;dr - Pictured below, a group of Nocturnian refugees from Covenant lands enter the Mitgardian lowlands in hopes of a better future. The journey is not easy for everyone but families do their best to aid the old and sick. Fortunately, a cold, spring-fed pond abuts the trail, providing the group with fresh water and a good place to rest from the withering trek. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About this MOC: With Challenge III underway in Mitgardia soon I needed some practice building something other than a swamp, lavafield or mountain so I put together this little freebuild. Mostly wanted to try out some new color schemes for me and go with a Mitgardia-flavored landscape. I thought parts would (correct me if I'm wrong ) look close to the highland-type areas of Scotland so I tried to go with a craggy, rock-strewn landscape, and sparse vegetation consisting mostly of moss and scrub grass. Of course, with current events in Mitgardia, these refugees might have to make the trek back... In any case, thanks for looking and any feedback is certainly appreciated!

    HSS: Shadowmere West Gate

A bleak sun rises over a black citadel, and two Kaliphlinites approach the West Gate of Shadowmere. The gate, however, is currently shut. A voice, sharp and growling sounds from the crenellations above the gate. "Halt, and move to one side". The voice came from a leopardman watch officer atop the walls. The Kaliphlinites duly moved off the road, and to one side, puzzled by this request. The gates swung open, revealing a mighty werewolf, none other than General Fenrir Bloodcloak himself, marching forth at the head of a line of Shadowmere Guard. The guard were mainly comprised of spearmen, their livery of red and black distinctive. To one side, accompanied by their bodyguards, were Lord Vladivus of Shadowmere, and Sir Beorthan of the Trifork. Vladivus: "So, we have an accord? Shadowmere will send trade representatives to the Trifork? Nocturnian forged armour and weapons will certainly aid you." Beorthan: "Aye, especially if they are as well wrought as your warriors have equipped here. They are certainly a force to be reckoned with, if not exactly living!" Vladivus: "Heh, not all of my troops are raised from the dead back to the living, although it certainly makes life easier. Look." A line of human troops in a blue livery marched by, their armour and weapons dull, but the edges keen and eager for blood. Beorthan: "Who are they? Not in the colours of Shaowmere?" Vladivus: "They are Black Falcons, led by Eothain the Mad. After the death of his brother, Eothed the Mighty, at Strangeholt Tower, he has sworn fealty to me, and not the Black Spire. These troops head to Abyssian, to bolster the loyalist Nocturnians." Vladivus: "Come, let us follow them to the gate, and I will bid thee farewell." Beorthan: "Indeed, this is proving to be a prosperous alliance." Vladivus: "Farewell then, I shall send scouts with you to ensure safe passage back through the Kelra Labyrinths, although I am sure you and Cassius would be able to handle most of the challenges within!" Beorthan: "My thanks Vla..." The two Kaliphlintes who had been stood outside of the gate as the troops filed past, approached, causing Beorthan to trail off and eye these newcomers with interest. Kaliphlinite: "Hail Vladivus, I am a follower of Masa of Kaliphin, and this is Lysus the Leander. We seek the Aslanic Temple within your walls." Vladivus: "Welcome, you may pass." To Beorthan: "Farewell my friend, safe journey!" With that, the Kaliphlinites wntered the citadel of Shadowmere... ... And Beorthan of the Trifork left. A vendor sells iron swords, forged by Nocturnian dwarves... ... Whilst a Shkyklyk vendor sells fish by the barrel. More sinisterly, a hooded figure wielding a large axe prepares to perform an execution on the Death Sands. Overview: Front overview. Rear overview. EDIT: Bonus picture of the Black Falcons: So, my biggest moc to date! C+C Welcome! And thanks to Bregir for the use of his sig-fig!
  5. A Kaliphlin merchant with a couple of his camels on a dusty road. The merchant selling the goods at a market. Two small freebuilds to do something else than my Barqa project for LFW, which I'm quite fed up with at the moment. The first build was mostly an experiment with the landscaping colors and with the camel loads, and the second build originated in an experiment with the canopy design.

    Daydelon Sheep Farm

My phase 3 build for the Farm category in AoM. I think this is my best half timbered house yet. As always there's a full interior, and the door works. There are many farms located on the outskirts of Daydelon. Several of which are sheep farms. The loom outside the house so you can see it better: More pictures can be found here: link C&C welcome
  7. My Phase 2 build for the Farm category in AoM. This landscape was a nice change from all my recent snowscapes. A sheepfold is a common sight in the southern regions of Mitgardia. They provide protection from the weather, wild animals, and thieves, usually they consist of a palisade with a lean-to shelter: More pictures: link C&C welcome

    Meeting with Wyndor

A relatively simple interior to start off collab between myself and MKJoshA. Sir Glorfindel meets with Wyndor to discuss a trip through Mitgardia to try and ensure that the Mitgardian people stand united through these uncertain and dangerous times. Sir Glorfindel: "Wyndor, it is good to meet you. I have heard much of you in Valholl recently and thought that you could be of assistance to me on my newest mission." Wyndor: "I also am glad to have finally met you. If the Council is agreeable to my traveling with you then I would be happy to be of whatever help I can." Sir Glorfindel: "Good, as you already know I am visiting cities and towns throughout Mitgardia to encourage unity in the coming days. But that is not the only reason for my journeys, I am also inspecting the military strength of the cities and town, and watching for any suspicious activities or rebellious citizens. Your help will make this easier and also, with you along we represent two well-known cities of Mitgardia." The council agreed to let Wyndor travel with Glorfindel, and in fact Lief seemed rather eager to get rid of Wyndor. C&C welcome
  10. Follow Lord Tyrus's job as postman: 1: Coffee Tastes Better With Milk 2: The Sweet Smell of Flowers Lord Tyrus sighed. When he received news of his promotion to the Imperial Survey Corps, he expected to be flying around the galaxy in relative luxury, exploring previously undiscovered planets and spreading Imperial law and order to primal civilizations. He did not expect to be hanging around the troopers' canteen, watching 2 soldiers of the supposedly most well trained and efficient army in galactic history to finish their 'lunch', so they could accompany him on messenger duty. He highly doubted that they weren't doing it on purpose, testing their new superior's patience. He also suspected that they were 'hand-me-downs' from a higher ranking officer. At any rate, he was soon to find out that their accuracy with a knife and fork was incredibly good, when compared to their accuracy with a blaster. He looked around the room at the scout troopers paying for beverages with their galacticards. Then he looked at the menacing, black drinks machine the barman was filling the drinks from. It contrasted starkly with the rest of the brightly coloured room, but fitted in perfectly with the rest of the Star Destroyer's colour scheme. Apparently, the machine had been discovered by a scout group, tasked with exploring the planets of an unpronounceable solar system. According to the diary found next to the machine, it had been created in the Dark Age of Technology, when there was a galactic shortage of cows and when the citizens of that age had forgotten how bad coffee tasted without milk. The particular man that had built the machine was the only man old enough to remember that coffee had once tasted a lot better with milk than it did without. He spent many years making a machine that could make white coffee. Unfortunately, he had had a heart attack just before he could swallow the first cup of white coffee the galaxy had seen for 100 years. The only reason the crazy device had been pressed into Imperial use was because it could (completely unknown to the creator) make any other beverage in the galaxy, in past, present or future. It had instantly been a favourite among the troops of the Avenger, but it had been kept a secret to everyone else (except Darth Vader, who was partial to a glass of wine from time to time). The canteen had also been implemented with refill machines, linked directly to the main machine, and the one at table 2 was in very high use indeed. Finally Lord Tyrus had had enough after the 5th burger had found its way into Stormtrooper 27491's mouth and the 9th beer had sloshed its way down trooper 44783's throat. He slipped out the pocket holo from his trouser leg and keyed in for control to make a request for different troops. But even after 20 minutes of almost silent conversation, he had got nowhere; there were simply no more troops to spare and he had been unlucky. It was up to him to discipline the troops in his command. He sighed again. Maybe he'd get a drink, then go to bed and sort them out tomorrow. He wasn't going to the front for a while, he should probably relax a bit. A simple mission searching for Boba Fett couldn't be to bad, even with fat, drunk troopers, could it? And a view without 'figs: I would like this judged please.

    Daydelon's City Wall

My phase 3 build for the Wall category in AoM. My main goals for this build were to experiment with making walls with batter (sloped sections), hoardings (the wooden addittions to the tower), and larger buildings than what I generally build. The apothecary hinges open and has a full interior, and I think the windows right under the gables are a new design. Daydelon continued to expand: new businesses such as apothecaries, blacksmith's, and coopers were popping up throughout the city. And eventually the small stone wall didn't provide enough space or protection. As such, a new much larger stone wall strengthened with towers was built. You can see more pictures here: link All C&C appreciated

    Daydelon Wall

My build for Phase 2 of the Wall category in AoM. I experimented with using only SNOT tiles for the wall texturing and making a machicolation (the 'false' tower). As Daydelon grew, the wooden palisade was taken down and replaced by a stone wall with wooden walkways. More houses were built and many farms were started just outside the town: All C&C appreciated

    Daydelon Stockade

Here is my Phase 1 build for the wall category in AoM. When Daydelon was first settled, a few houses and a log stockade were all the protected it from the weather and wild beasts: Phases 2 and 3 coming very soon All Comments/Criticism welcome

    HSS: Blood Fountains

In and around Shadowmere, there are many fountains of a sinister nature. Beneath Shadowmere, in immeasurable caverns there are vast lakes of blood drained from unfortunate victims. This blood is enchanted and takes on a life of its own, swaying columns of freestanding blood ever moving towards the ceilings of the caverns. The blood forces its way though the rock, and bubbles to the surface. Most of the points at which the blood breaks the surfaces have had fountains built upon them. An industry of sorts has grown up around the thousands of such fountains of Shadowmere- blood wine. Shadowmere, prior to the emergence of the Black Spire, was one of the largest manufacturers and suppliers of Blood Wine in Historica. The production still continues, largely due to the unceasing labour of the undead bottlers, and awaits a more favourable economic climate. A small fountain, typical of a freeholding in Shadowmere. From the back, a Shkyklyk overseer exits the small toolshed. An orcish worker uses an enchanted goblet to transfer the blood to the nearby barrel- making blood wine is a laborious task, steeped with tradition and strange arcane rituals. For example, each day, the fresh blood must be tasted and blessed by a member of a particular orcish tribe, which are accorded ranking higher than would be the norm- here Gruzag Wineswiller, in all his finery (he sits upon the Council of Shadowmere as the head of Commerce), sips from a glass of blood taken directly from the fountain. Whilst Scarecroicus (in his new day job), stirs and presses the blood with the femur of a six and half year old baby Bald Blueback dragon. So an entry for HSS: Agriculture. I hope it fits, I've been struggling to come up with an idea, but I hit upon the idea of blood wine, and it kinda stuck. Just a small one for this! C+C welcome!
  15. Northern Nocturnus, at the border with Mitgardia. Smoke drifts lazily through the cool mountain air of the Northern Rakath, from a small barbarian encampment. An ice-cold, bubbling mountain stream runs through the camp, and salmon leap from the clear waters. Into this idyllic setting strolls Taun-Li, the famed Master-Sensai of Panjitsu. Few expect him to actually be a panda, but the Nocturnian is comfortable with that- it works well for his current occupation. Taun-Li is working for Lord Vladivus, the Legendary Warlord of Nocturnus, aiding him in hiring warriors to fight against the Black Spire. This particular barbarian tribe is the Kanucka Head Takers. Well organised and militaristic, they subsist here in the mountains on a diet of fresh salmon, speared from the river by tribesmen. Taun-Li strides accross the bridge, and is greeted by the tribes Chieftain, Oran Limbsmasher. The chieftains black cloak swirls in the air, and his bearing is proud and noble. Oran: "Greetings. We do not often have your kind visit this far North!" Taun-LI: "Leaves on the wind fall as they will. I come with an offer from Lord Vladivus." Oran: "Do you? And what if I refuse this offer?" Taun-Li: "Then I am to return you to the earth. All Nocturnians must stand and fight. Take a side. You are either with us, or against us There is no neutral ground." Oran: "Then what would the Lord Vladivus have me do?" Taun-Li: "Take your warriors over the border to Mitgardia, and prepare for the coming troubles there. I shall be accompanying you." Oran accepted the offer, and Taun-Li gave him a week to prepare his kinsmen, before leaving to prepare himself. A build mainly to try out water, and I wanted to use the panda guy costume, and it also leads into the Mitgardian Challenge. Hopefully. C+C welcome!

    Ancient tower

Shortly after crossing into his territory Lord Dan received a letter, sent by magical means, from his friend Mage. Inside were directions to a meeting location... At the location specified in the letter they found an ancient ruined tower, which the quickly proceeded to explore. Dan walked through the first room, noting that scavengers and time had robbed the room of nearly all decoration, leaving only piles of rubble. He climbed the staircase to the second floor, where Mage was waiting to greet his old friend. Krell Interrogates Sir Natas.

When Lord Vladivus returned to Shadowmere, he handed Sir Natas over to Krell, his Necromancer. In the dungeons of Shadwomere, screams echo throughout the halls. These dungeons are a horrifying place, and one that few return from- those that do are usually the dungeon keepers, but even they do not always return. In one of the cells, Krell and one of his Servants of Torture see to Sir Natas. Krell: "Welcome Sir Natas. I assume you are aware of we are about to do- not that you have any choice mind. You're not in Avalonia or Kaliphlin, here in Nocturnus, we are cruel rather than kind!" He motioned to the Servant of Torture, who stepped forward, bearing vicious looking tools. Sir Natas: "No. You cannot. This is heresy. Ravaage is the true lea..." His voice was cut off by a sharp blow to the face. Krell:"Ravaage is dead, his body merely isn't aware of it yet. Now, about Zurias..." Krell's eyes glowed a fierce red, and with the Servant of Torture, set to work. Several hours later, Krell emerged, now armed with a host of information. C+C welcome, yet another freebuild! What has Krell discovered? I apologise for the lack of focus on the second picture, the camera refused to focus on the faces.
  19. In his chambers in the Nocturnian citadel of Shadowmere, Krell discusses business with the head of his personal bodyguard. The business discussed ranges from patrol routes to resolving confrontations with the general citizens of Shadowmere. Krell's personal bodyguard are Shadows, fearsome warriors from beyond the mortal realm. Footsteps echo down the corridor outside, as a figure wrapped in black cloth strides purposefully towards Krell's chambers. The shade guard posted outside challenges the figure; Shade: "Who goessssss ssthereee?" The figure flicks aside some cloth to reveal a terrifying arachnoid face- Draxx, a member of the Scorpionmen race. Draxx: "I come to give important news to Krell, from Vladivus." The Shade stands aside, and opens the door-grate. As Draxx goes to enter, the Head of Krell's bodyguard exits, and though he has no face, his gaze fixes Draxx, who feels his soul bared to this etherbeast. Draxx enters the chambers. Krell looks up impatiently at the interuption. Krell: "Well, what is it?" Draxx: "I have travelled swiftly from Southern Nocturnus with great news- Vladivus has captured Sir Natas and is bringing him here for you to interrogate." Krell: "Perhaps we shall get the information that will lead us to Zurias. At least Vladivus will get some closure." Draxx leaves, and Krell calls in a Shade Guard. Krell: "Awaken the Servants of Torture. We have work to begin." Shade: "Assssss you wisssshhhhh my lord." C+C welcome. A build inside Shadowmere! It shows the build up to the torture of Sir Natas! Also a chance to show off some new fig combinations! In hindsight, I wish I hadn't picked black for Shadowmere, I hate photographing it!
  20. In light of the Black Spire's emergence in Nocturnus, and the siege of Abyssian, Vladivus has realised that Shadowmere's armies may not tip the scales enough- outright warfare may decimate armies, but he needed a way to remove the head of the beast, when necessary. Hence the formation of the Shadowmere Assassin and Intelligence Guild, or S.A.I.G. for short. These warriors are highly trained and drawn from a variety of Nocturnian citizens, each with abilities that lend themselves to the task at hand, ranging from Wolfmen, and orcs, to Night Elves. These operatives are heading out for a classified mission in Black Spire territory, whilst a bizarre air-living stingray floats lazily on the air currents. Night Elf, Beastman... ...and orc work together for this mission. C+C welcome. Yet another aspect of Shadowmere's forces. Just a small build this time!

    Moruth Ranger Outpost

Scattered throughout the Moruth Swamplands are outposts occupied by the famed Moruth Rangers of Shadowmere. They are characterised by bones of opponents, and the largely open structures. The Moruth Rangers in all their glory. They are predominantly clad in leather armour, and bear longbows. Others species have been known to fight amongst the Moruth Rangers, but they are fewer in number than the humans that make up the bulk of the Rangers. Moruth Rangers are highly trained, and often found their way into other guilds as mercenaries and soldiers of fortune, prior to the emergence of Lord Vladivus in Nocturnus. With Vladivus' guidance, the Moruth Rangers have become a force under their Captain, Daon Ironblade, that is fanatically loyal to Valdivus and Shadowmere. C+C welcome. The build is inspired by one I did to represent Kashyyyk for SONE.

    A Day on the Farm

Nocturnus may be a land of warlords and monstrosities, but, as with the other Guilds in Historica, the fabric of society in the Darklands is composed of the common people who toil honestly and humbly in hopes of securing a future for their children. No where is this more evident than on the many farms dotting Nocturnus. Armies cannot fight and rulers cannot dictate without food. Even in these lands, where the shadows never cease to grow, men and woman of all races manage to scratch a living in agriculture. Like their parents and grandparents - and as their children will do so in the future - these simple people work the fields with their hands and only the most basic of implements. Large families are common on these farms where labor is a prime resource. The average Nocturnian farmer's place in society is not much different than the villeins of medieval England. He or she is obligated to provide a number of workdays for the village lord, although these mandates can usually be shirked with a bribe to the right court official. Even those who cannot avoid working their lord's land usually have a plot or virgate to call their own. Crops can vary widely from farm to farm with poorer farmers tending to focus more on sustenance than profit. The better off farmers who have access to large plots of land and efficient irrigation systems like to focus on cash crops like pipeweed and, of course, that most lucrative of local produce: the Nocturnian pumpkin. With a growing season between early spring and late fall, most farmers in Nocturnus cannot afford to devote the time and recourses needed to produce these very water-dependent fruit, but those who do can enjoy profitable returns. The pumpkin is used to make enchanted pumpkin pie, which is a much-relished stable in all the great houses of Nocturnus. The enchanting process is usually performed on the farm itself by a certified enchanter, usually a wizard from the local lord's manor. This is done for a small fee and often nothing more than a bed for the night and a few hot meals. For most farmers it must be a very odd sight to see the lord's wizard walking through their fields reciting odd enchantments and trying not to get their robes dirty. The process is mostly a mystery to them, with most believing it is nothing more than tradition or an aide for the pie cooking process. A shot of the whole build: Father Orc plows his field tirelessly in hopes of adding to next year's pumpkin crop. Mother Orc carries out some water while the Orc-Child chases away a few pesky pigs hoping for a pumpkin snack. A wizard from the village lord's manor performs the obligatory enchanting process: Just a simple interior for the shed: ----------------------------------------------------------------------------------- About this MOC: I picked up this idea a little while back after inquiring about the origins of enchanted pumpkin pie in Nocturnus and thought it would be neat to show a little pumpkin farm (my wife and I grow pumpkins each year, but it's not a very fun thing to do). After checking out SK's awesome Maple Syrup scene the other day I was inspired to go ahead and do it. I needed a quick break anyways from the Hand of Corruption builds, which I'll try to have the next one up here too later today. Thanks for taking a look, I hope you enjoy!

    Making Maple Syrup

I'd like to receive one UoP credit for manufacturing [Trade and Law]. Mattiusxavier suggested that I build a MOC showing maple syrup being made, I thought it was a great idea (my family actually makes our own Maple Syrup every year) and after finishing some other builds was able to make this. The process of making Maple Syrup is pretty simple, in the later winter/early spring you tap Maple trees and hang buckets to collect their sap. Then that sap is gathered and heated to evaporate much of the water from the sap and make syrup. There is a full interior in the cabin. Sugaring season is always a pleasant time in Mitgardia: whole families work together to tap the Maple trees and then gather the sap and boil it to make the delicous syrup that is commonly used for flavoring. Any Comments/Criticism welcome
  24. Most of the Shadowmere Guard are zombified Dragon Masters. Raised from the dead by Krell, they serve Vladivus and Shadowmere unflinchingly. Shown here are a Swordsman, Spearman, Archer and a Knight of the Inner Keep (Elite heavy cavalry). Without figs. As a bonus: "Rawrrrrrrgrh" So, this was originally a display for my Mount Up! build till I realised it was too big. Still wanted to use it for something, so figured I'd show off some of the ranks in Shadowmere's army and the figs (I'm pleased with the Elite Knights!). C+C welcome, even though it's a real quick display build!
  25. My dearest Lady Vansier, Further to your request about Feathered Dragons, I have compiled a brief report for you. I trust you have found it attached to this damned undead Carrier pigeon. Feathered Dragons come in all shapes, sizes, and indeed degree of feathering. It is a point of contention amongst the Learned Zoology Professors at Petrea University as to whether each is a distinct species, or merely an individual of a larger species. It is, point of fact, rare to find a specimen, that is willing to be studied. Shorter of temper than a Mitgardian Bearded Lady with untamable armpit hair, the feathered dragons are known to attack anything within sight. One such dragon, more specifically, a member of the Rakath Feathered Dragon sub-species is owned by the esteemed Lord Vladivus of Nocturnus, and I had the pleasure of studying it first hand, whilst a painter produced it's likeness, which I believe should be attached to this carrier pigeon as well. Note that most of the body is covered in green scales, whilst it is the black wings that are feathered. This one was tamed by Vladivus himself, and it's rumoured that he wrestled it one on one into submission. Fearsome chap this Vladivus. Anyway, this specimen does not breathe fire, but excretes venom through it's teeth, thereby giving it's bite a rather lethal efffect. Yours, as ever, A half-crazed Special Envoy of the Head Professor of Zoology at the University of Petrea to Nocturnus, Dizak Khan. P.s. The indomitable Lord Vladivus insisted we send you a portrait of himself stood by the dragon, because, well, he's heard of your beauty. Here he is, in all his armoured half-undeadness. My sincerest apologies. So, my entry for the "Mount Up!" Challenge, my first attempt at a brick built creature. It wasn't as easy as I thought it would be- learnt a few things. C+C welcome!
