Hi all, here you can see my modded GE, turned into a car museum. It’s based on an earlier MOD some of you might already know, see http://www.flickr.co...er0l/8056214219. I’ve used a second set to enlarge it and built a roof sign. There isn't much of an interior yet, but it may be used as a shelter for the cars. Anyway I am not too fond of interiors you can’t see from the outside – here you can see enough to believe it’s a car museum. It has an open back so that there’s enough light within the building. But the main aspect here is rather the SNOT system used to build streets and pavements completely out of bricks. It's been developed together with my dear friend Altezza (Michael). Actually we don’t know if it has been done like this before – of course there are SNOT streets and pavements, but maybe not exactly combined like this. If it’s already existing, hopefully we may use it. The idea is to completely omit any studded plate as a base for buildings or streets – in our opinion this decreases the possibilities too much, e.g. it’s difficult to build something with an odd width. Plus there is a problem with baseplates being only half as thick as a usual plate. Our suggestion is a more flexible system: Buildings are set upon a kind of strip footing (5 layers, this matches exactly the height of street plus pavement). The holes withing the footing allow to install a cabling between buildings, if you want to have a lighting. Any width is possible. Floors can be built either by SNOT or by studded plates, it’s even possible to save the tiled mosaics of GE and FB on the pavement, as you can see. The width of the pavement (here: 8 studs) must be divisible by two in order to be able to change the direction of the studs SNOT-wise. As you might recognize this is a kind of start of a town layout featuring the cars and a monorail. Later Altezza will join me – at least we try to fix a standard from the beginning so that the layouts can always be combined. Of course all this must be tested further – you can’t think of every requirement in the first place. Any suggestions and questions are welcome, of course. Thanks for looking! Some more pics:

Hi all, at the end of 2011 there was the first Police Interceptor, and there was a second one in 2012, which was derived from the Tumbler. Now I thought it might be a nice tradition to build one Police Interceptor each year. The PI 2013 is derived from the Chevy Impala, see http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=78902: It fits 2 cops (with caps) at the front and one suspect at the rear. At first I thought the new cop caps wouldn't fit, but then I modified the roof a little and now they fit, although the cops do not sit fully straight, but for me it's okay: Here you can see it in action. The street needs some traffic stuff, and I'd rather have brickbuilt motorbikes, but well ... Thanks for looking, c&c welcome as usual.

Don't care about the inappropriate fig, it's just a test driver. The car will be given to a more glamourous fig for sure ... As you might know my idea is that a Lego car should fit 2 figs side by side, so I prefer the 7w building style (although you can do that with a 6w car, too, if it has the thin doors). The car has nearly the same frame as the Cadillac Fleetwood (see http://www.eurobrick...showtopic=78281), but due to the smaller wheels it is possible to have suspension now. There's enough room within the frame for the wheels to move up and down (at the front more than at the back, to be honest). Furthermore the bracket-and-tile building style allows to set down the windscreen to get a nicer silhouette (same with the Caddy). At least in the 6 and 7-wide department there's often a problem to find the proper windscreen. You may use slopes instead, but then the figs can't see where they are going ... Here they can look out properly. Rims are custom chrome, of course. I try to avoid it where I can (the Caddy doesn't have any), but here it's important. C&C welcome as usual, more to come ... But no sooner there was the idea that this might go well with 10232 Palace Cinema I wanted to share it with you as quickly as possible. The origin of this was the usual struggle with the windscreen height. The idea here is that you get a much nicer silhouette for such a car if you lower the windscreen into the body (you can do that only with a 7w body, of course). Some other issues result from this, but it is possible. This surely has been done before, but maybe not in a setting like this. The car is built in a bracket-and-tile style, this has several advantages. Due to the brackets the frame is quite stable and may serve as a platform for more cars in this style. It fits 3 figs and can easily be turned into a convertible. No custom chrome (so far) and as far as I can see no illegal or especially difficult techniques (except the tires maybe), so it can easily be copied. The whitewall tires are my own design (no paint), tailfins taken from Legohippie, see http://www.1000stein...y.php?id=241132 Alas, no openable doors which is not so nice in terms of a replacement for the original car, but I didn't find a way until now. So the first thread (see http://www.eurobrick...opic=73182&st=0) contains 9 vehicles now. #10: Vintage Truck (Gangster Version) A simplified version of the more colourful Vintage Truck you can find here (#9). The presentation is strongly influenced by the amazing work of LegoManiac over on Flickr. Here you can see the vehicle in action. Don't ask me what's all this stuff, I don't ask them either. More pice here. #11: Vintage Fire Truck No openable doors, no detachable roof, no suspension, no steering - but a nice steering wheel and column ;-) This started as a mod of the fire engine from Fire Brigade 10197 but ended quite differently, although I have kept some details (e.g. the ladder). I really love the original truck but it didn't fit within the other vintage cars. I am not too fond of this kind of fenders, I must say - but since it's a truck the height is okay, I think. Couldn't think of a different solution here.
