    [ENTRY] Saber Island 2023

As I was thinking through different entries for the contest, I thought, "why not take a break and make a small moc that just clones a modern Lego Co technique?" 6265 Saber Island came to mind. I could just copy one of the tower builds from the new Disney castle. The set is 90% tower, it shouldn't take long. Three weeks later, here we are. Why is it called Saber Island? Maybe it's the sheer number of sabers used in the construction... Maybe it's the shape of the fortress... (shout out to LetsBrick) Or maybe it's something much more sinister... Hope you all enjoyed it! Final classic pic. More pictures here Side note: The set looks even better with physical bricks. It's nice and imposing (didn't want to spend booty on color coordinating everything, but it's solid!(. I have the instructions up on rebrickable Let me know what you think!

    [ENTRY] Caribbean Clipper

With the release of The Pirates of Barracuda Bay, TLC produced an incredible remake of the original Black Seas Barracuda. I'd always wanted a 'good guys' ship to go along with the new Barracuda, with TLC delivering a new and improved Eldorado Fortress and a contest, I felt it was time to try for a Clipper. The goal was to make a ship which was proportional to the original Clipper AND to the untrained eye looked like it was designed by the same people as the New Barracuda. I had to resort to using a bunch of parts off the barracuda, as a result I don't have a comparison shot. That said, part count is around 1300, dimensions/stud count have it only a few studs (4-6 I think) longer than the original clipper, and every vertical dimension is shorter than the new Barracuda. It looks great and should look just as good next to the new Barracuda as the original Clipper did next to the original Black Seas Barracuda. Shoutout to okbrickworks for the fresh clipper sails. Forgive the minifigures, I don't have Eldorado yet, so I had to use the 'old' new bluecoats. Sadly the admiral has a Dark Bluecoat and an old bicorne. I also don't have enough Black Tricornes with ponytail to have more soldiers (shakos don't go with the Clipper). As a result, the officer uses a modified tricorne with white wig combo and one of the sailors has no ponytail at all(gasp). This will be rectified in the future. My favorite ship angle a la Endurance. The anchor works same as the new Barracuda. All the exterior pics are with real bricks. I found a great lego yellow paint, so Owl with Spread Wings 67632 gloriously replaces the original yellow bird. Stern shot with fleur de lis design. Another side shot: the non gun side has 2 1x6 black tiles to keep the lines smooth. Gun/Anchor side has 1x2 holes so the gun ports can open down like the original Clipper. Notice the bell. Bluecoat ships need one to call hands when pirates are near. I originally wanted to simply copy the one from the Silent Mary. But with the discovery of TLC yellow paint, I used a 3172 Pith Helmet with a bar with ball joint inside. May not see it, but there's a bucket next to the angry soldier, he's swapping the deck. While I have built this using real bricks, I did most of the design in Stud.io. The interior shots are rendered with Stud.io. Three reasons: 1) Camera angles for interiors are tough sometimes. 2) Lighting. 3) When it came time to order parts, I didn't want to spend so much on blue cannon carriages, my build uses brown. I may break down in the future for some blue ones. Captains cabin. Another angle. Bed on the other side. The lantern is nice, but I could be talked into a violin. Under the main deck. Easy to remove and access. Remove the cannons for bunks. Not sure HOW they would remove them or where, but soldiers gotta sleep somewhere. Beds flip up to reveal a spot for personal items. Other side. You can switch out the tricornes for shakos and backpacks if on shore leave. Aft has storage. The little gray piece is a mouse. Reference to a regular bane of sailors' existence, also Sea Rats represent! I didn't render the interior of the bow, I just kept the toilet from the original PoBB One last note. when I embarked, I promised to stick to designs that TLC would use. I did make one major exception: The helm does control the rudder. Getting the old ships wheel to actually turn a rudder was ridiculous and some of the methods/connections are wonky (though still legal). TLC would never. This is why the box the wheel attaches to is so large; this is why the rear mast is a couple studs too far forward; and this is why the captain's cabin is so cramped/only accessible through the sides. I think it's hidden well enough to excuse. Flickr album here, I don't think there are any additional pictures or notes. I plan on putting up rebrickable instructions and probably a helm post at some point. But those will be awhile. Hope you like it!
  3. Return to Classic LEGO Pirates with this updated 2023 version of set 6281: Pirate's Perilous Pitfall! Model contains about 2400 pieces and would retail around the same price point as the 2023 Eldorado Fortress. With 5 minifigures, 2 animals, special features, and 6 play functions, hours of adventure await! Model separates for a wider view and open play access: Additional connection points are included on the edges of the main rock structure to allow for other models to be attached to expand on the set. What is the meaning behind this spooky skeleton? It may warn of dangers ahead! Use the rock steps to access the platform: Watchtower includes climbing ladder, a table and seats with a treasure map, and a hiding place for a chest of treasure at the bottom: Crystals and stalactites fill the interior of the cave and rusty iron spikes protrude from the rocks beneath the bridge: The golden crown is kept safe in the throne room. What secret does the throne hide? Pivot and fire the cannon on the dock, rotate the tiller of the sunken ship, and keep guard with the stern deck swivel guns: "Cut" the ropes to allow the mast to topple! 1. 2. 3. Pull the rope to lift the bridge! 1. 2. 3. Step on the bridge trapdoor and fall onto the spikes below, releasing the boulder avalanche! 1. 2. 3. Pull the pin to release the throne trapdoor and drop unsuspecting adventurers into the prison below! 1. 2. 3. Look out for the crocodile if you try to escape the prison! 4. Pull the string on the back cliff to lift the trapdoor and push in the pin to hold it in place: 5. 6. I hope you enjoy this Classic Pirates set remake! Link to full image album on Flickr
  4. For my entry iv decided to remake the classic broadsides brig with renegades raft added play feature. The reason the raft was added was part of a story build / play feature, and the build was made to be modular to fit into the current Eldorado modular style. Module 1 is the prison cell itself. Module 2 is the middle dock section. And finally module 3 is Captainess Broadsides room with tea set and medals. And finally the bridge that connects both sections. The raft is a simple affair mimicking the original. The minifigures are as close to original styling as possible, however I like the idea that times moved on, with governor Broadsides daughter as a captain in his forces, and eagle eyed people may notice the renegade is now captain Krag! The story of the build and play feature are as follows! The guard is bored of his duties, and decides to take his eyes off the Wiley pirates and enjoy a little grog and a some fishing, while the captive pirate realised the cell has been left unlocked! Following this, the renegade takes his chance and shoots the base of the palm tree; With the quick removal of a pin, the palm falls and the captive takes his chance and runs while everyone is distracted! Getting aboard the raft and leaving! The captain attempts the shot but she misses, allowing the pirates to escape another day! I hope you all enjoy my entry and if you do, please feel free to check out my Flickr and I’m happy to do deconstructions if anyone cares for a copy. Thank you!
  5. This is my entry to the contest, Although the brick built sails that came with this set are good, I wanted regular sails. I took the liberty of changing the masts to fit the sails and also modified some areas to make them minifigure height around the deck and added a wall to separate the front of the ship from the rear. It’s a decently sized small ship but my vision was to add a few details and building techiniques I found from the 2015 Brick Bounty and the 2020 Barracuda!!

  8. Hello everyone, I would like to share my recent build that I put together last minute for the ongoing contest on Lego IDEAS called 'Moments in space'. It is a large scale brick built 'minifigure' of an astronaut. It is inspired by these big brick built figures appearing in several lego sets (as for now I only recall big antman from the Marverl Super Heroes set, but I think there was at least one more). This contest is supposed to help TLG design their next space-based promotional polybag, so I designed something that I would actually like to get as a freebie, and I hope other would as well :D If you like it, you can see more pictures and vote for it HERE! I don't have very many friends on social media that I could lure the votes from so my chances are low, but each vote definitely counts so thank you! (plus if you feel like sharing with your fellow lego enthiusiasts, that's beyond my wildest wishes :D) Of course all comments and criticism are also much appreciated. Footnote - I haven't yet checked the part availability in used colors so I am not 100% sure whether it is currently buildable or not (probably not). I plan, however, on revisiting that, making necessary changes and releasing the LDD instructions so if you'd like to build your own Brick's'tronaut, stay tuned :D

  10. I know I'm late to the party, but I had this idea for a few weeks already and did some tests, and yesterday I had time to start building on the real version. I think it's wacky enough to partipicate, although the "wacky function" is not the most original, I admit. There's no drive, just rolling, and there's no suspension. It's fully manual. It can roll (no drive, no fake engine whatsoever); and it can steer all eight bogies simultaniously. This means the vehicle doesn't "turn", the body keeps always facing the same way, but the wheels turn so it can drive anywhere it wants. There's also no "steering radius" - it can turn on the spot, which of course is an advantage in the race. Obviously, the top part (where the driver sits) turns the same way as the wheels. The "wacky function", as you may have guessed from the springs you see behind the seat, is an ejector seat. Launching the driver forward gives a tiny advantage for the last few meters before the finish (assuming the winner is the driver who crosses the line first). And of course, it's a nice way to leave the vehicle quick and clean (how to enter the vehicle, I don't know). I don't want to make this thing much more complicated, so I will be adding a nice cabin, and I will decide on a color scheme (I have some ideas already), make it a bit more sturdy and add a few details here and there, and that's pretty much it. It sounds doable to finish this before the deadline.

  12. My main goal for this little build was to experiment with some less common colors in the buildings, and a few new techniques. I’m pretty pleased with how the SNOT design of the dark red tudor building worked out. Credit for the cobblestone technique goes to Mike. A Mitgardian courier brings the long awaited news of the Heir of Cedrica, and Daydelon rejoices. More pictures. Thanks for looking

  14. Somewhere among the shores of Avalonia... A rider sent from General Aeldric of Vanhorn races the soldiers of The Spire to send word to Albion and the surrounding reaches word of the True King's return, the True Heir to Cedrica! The Orcs of the coastal regions have always bore crude weapons and armor. Not nearly on level of that of Soldiers directly from The Spire. The rider must be diligent, swift, and unrelenting on his horse, for the forces of Ravaage do not falter. (Welp, this is my Category A (Riders of Historica) Entry! It's Alliance side. CC Welcome!)

  17. Introduction Hello, I present to you, my new, first fully-finished MOC and entry to TC10: The 'pneumatic press'! About I wanted to participate in the contest, and it should not be a problem for me since i have 42043 with all it's pneumatics. I didn't want however to create another vehicle. I really like the Hydraulic press channel so i decided to make a hydraulic press, well a pneumatic press to be precise. So here it is. I am creating the discussion topic after the build but that is perfectly fine because i have progress pictures which i will show you. If you have suggestions for mods etc. you are free to suggest. There are for sure a few flaws which can be made better. so it has a few functions - You can move the platform to position your part (2 yellow knob gears). You can move it for-/backwards and sideways. - The yellow blast shield can be opened with a small pneumatic cilinder. - There is a big cilinder for pressing. All controls can be found at the front. For safety there is a blast shield, just like in real presses. Building progress I realised that i had to make progress pictures when i was here: I had then made the positioning and i added a pneumatic pump. I made the platform such that it can handle a lot of weight, well it remains ABS plastic but i made sure to build it such that it doesnt fall apart when there's weight on the platform. As said, you can move the white platform sideways and for/backwards. This is done with gear racks. one knob gear is moving with the platform (in one direction). I can make something so that it doesnt move but that would make my MOC even uglier and i don't think it is a real problem. My plan was first to put the pump in the top, so that the tubes dont have to go up the pump. Later, i realised that you need a control panel and that the switches have to be at the bottom. So i added the pneumatic pump at the bottom. I didn't like an exposed pump so i used a beam and a lever mechanism which you will see in a video further down, OR in the final entry video. My first function is the blast shield. It works pretty nice and the blast shield doesnt look that bad. What i don't like is that the supports stick out. The blast shield cant clap up 90 degrees, but i don't think that is needed and it would make it a lot more complicated. then i built the cilinder for pressing. It only has one attachment point so i had to make a frame such that it can't swing. the 4l axles, next to the pins, will later be replaced with 7l axles but you will see later on. This will be attached to the frame This cilinder also has to be connected to the switches and when all the tubing is done, the underside looks like this you can actually see that i had too little space for all the tubes so i gave him 4 feet (the LBG rims). then i need to do panels to work it off. You can see that i used some frames and beams to make the top part stiffer. between the black panels, come the grey panels which can fold out On top of that goes a cover which wont be attached with pins. This is so you can easliy see through and repair/change something. Now it is done, finished. here is one more picture The way the black panels are attached is really ugly. Then i built in in LDD, this way i can see exactly how it is made and where it is the weakest. file can be found at the bottom. While building i changed the model a bit. I replaced 2l pins with 3l pins. Red pins with axle connectors for regular pins, and added extra pins for more firmness. i also changed the way the black pannels are attached and i added a some beams. On the cover i added 2 red 5l beams so you can pick it up more easily. the final version is the one, made in LDD. Of course there are no pneumatics but it is pretty clear where they have to come. It is very good visible on the pictures. I couldnt find a few parts in LDD so i used something else. Updates/Changes Let me know what you think. What are good and what are bad things about it. Feel free to suggest changes because a MOC is never perfect. I haven't done measurements like part count weight, volume etc. but if you want to i can do that. does anybody know when i can enter my moc in the entry topic? Upgrade 1: post #13 I am not gonne upgrade the lxf file, maybe later. Here is the lxf file: pneumapress.lxf
  18. I wouldn't exactly say Los Angeles is known for it's architecture, but there are some nice buildings that deserve to have an architecture set. This isn't an amazing entry, but I am pretty pleased with it considering it's one of my first MOCs. This building was completed in 1956 and is the home of Capitol Records, a famous record label. It may be 30 miles from me, but it's still local enough. A picture of the side and back, including a section on the side where a mural is located, titled Hollywood Jazz. Front of the building. Here's a picture of the real building: I'm new here, so if I did anything wrong I'm sorry Please give feedback, I always like to improve.
  19. For the past two months I've been building my entry for the Enforces vs. Bandits competition, and it has finally arrived! Enforcers - Valuable Transport My source of inspiration is an actual valuable transport truck that I once saw driving over the Dutch highways: which led me to think: how cool would it be to hide some sort of advanced weaponry in there and have it fold open? First I thought about folding open the container, but in the end it's the entire truck that folds open. Also, the weapons I envisioned were different from what they have become, but the main idea is still there. So, the specs: Manual functions First of all, three of the four axles have steering. The third axle is idle, but has double tyres. I used the same steering linkage as D3K did in his Midi-scale pneumatic crane truck (with his permission), but I reinforced it, sacrificing some ground clearance. Another feature is that the doors of the cabin can open. Electric functions The truck houses the normal battery box driving an M motor. This drives a gearbox that operates three functions: transformation rotating the turrets raising/lowering the guns Transformation Getting the transformation to work was the biggest challenge. The entire sides of the truck are panels that are hinged at the bottom. Via a worm gear system they are deployed outwards. Also, the seats will rotate so that they face the weaponry, so that the driver can operate them. Because of the weight of the side panels, transforming back into transport mode takes well over a minute... Armament In battle mode, the truck shows two turrets carrying two guns, having three bullets each (making the total ammo 12). Via the gearbox the turrets can rotate together, and the guns can be raised. A spring-loaded mechanism is used to shoot. No specialized parts have been used, except the standard dark-gray 9.5L springs from set 8880. Shooting is done manually by rotating the knob wheels. The bullets are white 1x5 beams. Here's a computer image of all the functions. And, of course, the video.
  20. Hello everyone! Here's my latest MOC, Winter Village Square. It is made up of a small mountain church where a wedding has just finished, a fountain - with a couple of guys taking themeselves a selfie, a tree bended under the pressure of the snow, then a newsagents, some bike raks, a mailbox, and a Dodge car. The scenery is completed with some interesting winter minifigures to make a scene that perfectly fits the LEGO® Winter Village layout. That is my entry to the Expand the Winter Village Contest IV! I hope you'll like it! Every comment or suggestion is obviously welcome! Thanks for reading and watching! :) Fusar

    [M - C04] Assault on Aeristus.

Activity - Exploration. Location- Aeristus - C04. After an uneventful time on Myderis, Mark of Orion and his prototype vehicle were tasked with surveying the currently contested planet of Aeristus, just one sector from Torresta, the home planet of the MANTIS™ corp. After a few hours of testing ground speed on the open grasslands, Mark's radio emitted a distress call! Arriving at the scene, Mark discovered that his former crewmates were attacking a loathsome Kawashita stronghold and were in dire need of assistance! Mark fired up the Awesomnium-powered boosters and revved up the particle-disruptor rays on his Strider. "THIS ENDS NOW!" (Begin Commentary) Not happy with this build at all, I was extremely rushed for time - which also explains the very short story! But I wanted to get something in for MANTIS, so Enjoy!
  23. EDIT #2~ Here is my updated Challenge 1 entry! A Desert Butte on Guinevere. 20x20 studs, unedited and no figs. Not exactly superior to my larger scene/story below, but it's the best I could do in 30 minutes! Below is a freebuild based on my previous build, which would not qualify for the challenge (And I do not want to delete it!). Please do not consider it in judging. Begin A06 Freebuild- AG Challenge 1 by Mark E., on Flickr The pristine desert landscape of Guinevere. Only erosion and wind has disturbed these majestic canyons. Until now that is...... When we last left Mark of Orion, he had just jumped from a MANTIS™ dropship onto the surface of Guinevere. Upon contact, the MANTIS™ associates had divided into two teams, one led by Captain Brutus, and the other by Mark. Malcolm strode along with an air of pompous self-importance. "I don't understand why you went back to the ship once you heard we had to split up! What's the deal? Are you afraid of going off on your own?" Mark rolled his eyes. "I don't want to take the risk of walking blind. I had a near-death experience with a 20 foot alien on my last mission and I'm only alive now because a friend of mine was paying attention to the scanner. I'm not so stupid that I can't learn a lesson..." Malcolm grinned like a baked possum. "You were a space pirate or something weren't you?" Mark nodded and continued to scan the rock formations. "Yeah, something like that." Malcolm plodded along after Mark, now oblivious to his surroundings. "You must have not been a very good one if they caught you..." Mark's brow wrinkled. And it was only his solemn duty to MANTIS™ that prevented his teaching insolent Malcolm firsthand the hazardous effects of a certain MANTIS™ Death Ray Blaster© he had strapped to his back. "Avoiding the law is like a marathon, the run is long, but there is a definite end." Malcolm laughed. "Brain over brawn, dude! It's smarts that count in the corporate world." Mark sighed. This was going to be a tiresome mission. "A little physical competence never hurts. Speaking of which, are you covering those cliffs? My scanner reads no lifeforms but something or someone could be cloaked." Malcolm waved his hand as if shooing a fly away. "Relax, man, there's nothing out here! Brutus just likes some drama. There's absolutely nothing to worry abou...(GASP) LOOK OUT!!!!" Malcolm had glanced up at the cliff in question and was horrified by the sight of three armored Kawashita special forces agents! He quickly raised his hand phaser to fire at the enemy! But alas, he was too late! With a bright flash, a nano beam from the Kawashita special forces agent vaporized poor Malcolm on the spot! BRRZAAKKK!!! *Pooof* As soon as Mark heard the shot, he dropped his scanner, drew his MANTIS™ Death Ray Blaster©, and dove towards the canyon wall in one quick motion. He was none too soon! Another nano beam hit the spot Mark was standing milliseconds before! Mark snapped up against the rock wall, blaster ready, and listened for the enemy. He didn't get a chance to see where they were. It wasn't a minute before a taunting voice echoed across the valley. "Come out, come out, wherever you are! Mwahaha!" Another Kawashitan voice chimed in. "Don't worry, Zeloot. He won't get away. This is like shooting a fish in a barrel!" Mark began to analyze his situation as he noticed the small pile of ash where Malcolm stood a minute ago... With the help of a soaring pulse and a rush of adrenaline, a clever plan for survival sprung to mind. The ex-space pirate carefully drew out a small capsule that he had been keeping in his spacesuit. Mark mused to himself, they probably haven't seen this in Kawashita before... Without further thought, Mark threw the small cylinder up towards the jeering voices. The Kawashian special forces anticipated a conventional method of attack. "HAND GRENADE! QUICK, FIRE!" Before they could fire, however, the "hand grenade" let out a powerful electron pulse which promptly zapped the nano beam rifles of Mark's foes! ...Immediately rendering their weapon battery cells useless! Mark didn't wish to let his enemies recover from their shock, and so fired up his Awesomnium Powered Jetpack! Mark now glared eye to eye with the helpless Kawashita employees as he cocked his MANTIS™ Death Ray Blaster© four feet from their faces! "You were SAYING?!?!?!" To Be Continued! (Begin commentary) No hard feelings to my dark red friends! Clearly a truce is in your best interests since you are technologically inept in combat. Here are a few shots on a plain background for those who prefer them! Enjoy! The Dire Deserts of Death. by Mark E., on Flickr EDIT* I now realize I didn't read the rules. Shucks! Unless I can find time to fix this consider this a freebuild.
