  1. Before I start talking about the build. In the last few weeks, a picture appeared on my social network. It advertisement something, which I didn't really care about, but the picture looks great. It was in my mind and annoyed me, so I started to research what is this. Finally, I found it. The artist is Alejandro Burdisio, and he creates dieselpunk concept arts. This one was a dieselpunk tram station, where three or four Tatra T5 type trams are docking and/or leaving. I know, this was the time, to try to recreate, at least one. :D Please enjoy, and comments are welcome.

    [MOC] FNS Inferno Patrol Boat

In early 2078, several months after the final battle of the Final War triggered massive temporal storms that ravaged the earth, the survivors began to try rebuilding civilization. One such group were survivors of the old North American Union military on the East Coast who founded what would in a few years become the Federal Republic of America, a bastion of hope & freedom in the post-war world. Of course, they soon found themselves beset by enemies on all sides: The authoritarian Grand Duchy of New York and Hordes of Chaos to the north, the fascist, human centric New Confederate States of America to the south, vicious bands of raiders in the arid lands west of the Mississippi and pirates & sea monsters in the Atlantic Ocean to the East. Thus the new nation found itself at war & in need of ways to defend itself because war, war never changes.... One of the earliest efforts by the Federal Republic to defend its coastal waters was the conversion of abandoned cabin cruisers & other boats into ad-hoc patrol boats, one of which was the one that would eventually become the FNS Inferno. After several years (and once the Republic's naval shipbuilding program got off the ground), the Inferno was taken in, stripped down to its bare hull, and rebuilt from the main deck up. The hastily mounted twin .50 caliber machineguns on the front of the vessel were replaced with a 37mm manually-operated light auto-cannon mount and the aft single .50 cal was replaced with a 7.62mm minigun. The overall shape of the superstructure was rebuilt similarly to how the old Higgs PT-boats from World War II were designed, and eventually the forward 37mm cannon was replaced by a DARDO dual-purpose twin auto-cannon turret (this particular choice of armament was heavily influenced by some of the orc technicians who had sought asylum in the Republic, citing "more dakka" as their reasoning for adding such firepower to a vessel of this class). Thus the Inferno Class general purpose patrol craft were born: Captain One-Eyed Willie at the master plot in the crew cabin of the Inferno (yes this is one big Goonies reference): The business end of the Inferno featuring the DARDO 40mm mount & MK 51 heavy sonar guided torpedoes: The Inferno's Brave Crew: Anyways, I was up until 5am last night getting the forward gun mount to look right, and I hope you like it.

    Abomirex the Mechanical Terror

So, here's a MOC that's actually a few years old that I'd neglected to post because I wasn't super satisfied with the photos nor the build itself, but after stumbling across it again browsing through folders I think it has at least some merit, so I now present to you... The Abomirex (or A-rex if you prefer)! A mechanical monster created by one of the most diabolical minds in all the known world as a weapon of terror and conquest. Sporting massive razor-sharp claws, built-in weaponry, and tremendous mechanical strength, only the most skilled and nimble of heroes can hope to stop it. Initially conceptualized as far more overtly birdlike, with wings utilizing the clear orange sail pieces from that one Ninjago set, but I couldn't come up with a decent enough design and thus went in a more saurian direction because dinosaurs are neat. It can't see through walls, however, which could provide our hero with the upper hand. (also sort of inspired by the movie "9" and by extension the short film it was based on) Snout splits open to reveal a flamethrower. Hope your shield spell is up to snuff, or you'll be snuffed out. Get it? Fire jokes. One of its least immediately obvious weapons is its bladed claw tail, catching its opponents by surprise! But if caught, perhaps a lucky swing could bring our hero close enough to a weak point... The conspicuous power source on its back totally wasn't that weak point, why do you ask? At ease, or perhaps scanning the horizon. In profile. Torso construction detail. Full disclosure, I don't remember it being particularly sturdy, and in addition to looking somewhat jumbled overall, it's part of why I'd neglected to share it earlier. But the aesthetic still sort of works for a steampunk/dieselpunk/frankenstein mad sciencey sort of look. (also tangent time: I hate steampunk and think it's super overplayed, or at least the variation of it that everyone falls back on. what part of "british aristocracy in fancy dress with gears glued to it" is "punk", exactly?) Obligatory gag scene. Full gallery here!

    [MOC] Kestrel - SkyFi Plane

The Kestrel is another of the Goodbury Mechanical's faster planes. A jet-propeller hybrid created by the engineers and innovators on the path to a true jet plane. Goodbury are leading the way on development of super fast and manoeuvrable planes and one day hope to create a true Jet Plane. This is one of my "classic" builds: Create a whacking great engine/motive element and then strap the other bits to it. I love playing with the more metallic parts for building a super powerful looking motor. With that built, I added in somewhere for a pilot to sit and some wings so it would go in the sky. This top view shows the propeller and motor through to the back jet, the whole construction is virtually a cylinder from end to end. The wings, cockpit and canopy were added a while after I had built the engine, so I chose a good colour contrast for the more brooding metallics and blacks and a canopy that added another splash. The wings were set up to match the brutal look of the engine. I hope you enjoy this SkyFy build of mine.

    MOC: SkyFy Sparrowhawk

Goodbury Mechanicals is proud to present the Sparrowhawk, a new aeroplane utilising Jet-Propulsion! Designed with the aim to break the sound barrier, hopefully the first to do so. The plane has been put through its paces and will be ready to try for the speed record soon, our brave pilot is ready to take off. It has been a while since I built Sky-Fi, or added anything to the Goodbury product line. So here is the Sparrowhawk, I love to use dark tan and metallic shades. The speed champion hubcaps look great for vents and I used binoculars to create the pew-pews. Top View, shows off the angles I used in construction, it is also useful to show off the printed/stickered tiles I used for flare. Side view, shows off the sides of the jet engine. Unusually for me, I built this plane fuselage first. I most often create the engine/propulsion unit and put the wings and cockpit around it. It took me ages to decide the best engine type to use for the fuselage I had created. The "egg" parts make for a super mean looking engine that could power a plane to unknowable speeds. The rear view of the jets. I love using the ninjago spinner crowns for planes, they just look so cool! I hope you enjoy my SkyFi MOC, it is a genre I love and one I have not shared a pane from in a long while. Comments etc are welcome.

    [MOC] Dieselpunk Jet Ship

Hi all, Here's a dieselpunk ship I built inspired by old train and sci-fi rocket ship designs from the 30-40's. Hope ya like it :)
  7. I have not seen a topic on this, so if there is, please do move or merge with an established topic. Which AFOL community builders' work do you like or inspire you for your own projects/creations? For me, there are many, but my two top favorites are JonHall18 and Vince Toulouse on Flickr. I think they both are the best builders in the Dieselpunk and Sky-fi genres (both favorites of mine), and Vincent's artistry with Lego parts make unique and fantastic art deco-esq vehicular craft. https://www.flickr.com/photos/vince_toulouse/ https://www.flickr.com/photos/25163007@N07

    [MOC] Wrench and HARVey

“In a post-apocalyptic world, there are many in need of repairs. When the environment for such repairs becomes too extreme, people find themselves creating new tools for the job. Meet Wrench and her High Altitude Repair Vehicle (lovingly nicknamed HARVey). This unbreakable team is the go to for any maintenance work high above the ground. They specialize in repairs on big airship that are mid-flight and what tall buildings remained in the ravaged landscapes.” This MOC was made with the intention of building a really solid but fun mech. The entire build is quite rigid and makes for a fun toy. The only exceptions are the rotor blades attached by the clips, something that can easily be replaced by a normal rotor piece. I just love the look of these too much. Wing and rotor deployment function. Wrench, the pilot. Some more pictures here!

    [MOC] The Wooden Eagle

I present you my newest MOC,the wooden Eagle Talja and her best Friend Rocco the Monkey are travelling around the World in the Wooden Eagle, the flying Ship they also call their Home. Don`t be fooled by the Impression that Rocco is just an ordinary Primate! He`s also an excellent Mechanic and keeps the Ship going. The Wooden Eagle might be old and most of the Ships Parts date back to Times where Ships are bound to roam the Watersurface but today the Wooden Eagle can fly up high in the Sky. Who knows what Wonders and Mysteries our two Friends and their trusty flying Ship will find.... The Wooden Eagle was inspired by Steampunk and Dieselpunk Visuals aswell as animated Movies and TV Shows with similar Aesthetics. Hope you like my newest MOC and the Way i took the Pictures. Feel free to leave a Comment.

    [MOC] Not your typical X-Wing

For this build I wanted to combine the classical Ralph McQuarrie desgin with some dieselpunk aesthetics from the 1930s and 40s, giving it an elegantly curved and streamlined look. Just think of the wind-tunnel designed cars and trains – and of course airplanes – of that era. It was also pretty clear to me from the beginning that the only possible colour this fighter can have is red. It just works so well with emphasizing its lines and gives the whole build a vibrant dynamic I wouldn’t have gotten in – say white or grey really. Oh, and my affinity for the biplanes of the great war played quite a role too. So see it as the Red Baron in space basically! I see the landing gear as provisional, so it can be easier put on display (and to make it easier to find a place to land^^) I really want to make it more elegant, while not sacrificing its stability. Sadly there isn't really much space where it is - but I'm sure there will be a decent solution coming up Anyway, apart from that I am very happy with it. It is stury and very swooshable and is a nice display piece For more pictures and musings about its design and stuff feel free to visit my blog!

    (MOC) Mecha Hangar 5

A MOC that I made during the past summer. *Sniff* Bye bye warm weather... Anyways though, I just thought that i would like to share this creation with you guys, and I hope that you enjoy it as much as I did making it. Backstory: Britain had been bombed enough to know that regular warehouses couldn't hold their valuable mechs or supplies. So they had to build underground bunkers, or hangers. Mecha Hanger 5 is one of these buildings, and is built 50 meters below the earth. These hangers are safest from some of the the even most powerful of bombs. Mecha Hanger 5 is primarily used to house the Liberator B-15 mechs, and the recently developed "Flying Flapjack" Z-66. Each base has high security, and only authorized personnel are allowed to work in these hangers. More pictures via the link: Thank you for viewing my creation, and have a good day!

    MOC: Novo Atlantis

1924: Scottish Expedition led by adventurer Mr. Roy McBridge, equipped with Clam-type heavy diving suit, discovers the ancient ruins of the legendary New Atlantis at the bottom of the North Sea. This little diorama was built for Finnish LUG Palikkatakomo's summer contest with the theme of "finding, discovering". The idea was simply to build something around the top part of that diving mecha I had tablescrapped last winter. More photos can be found on my blog. Enjoy.
  13. The Story The Storm Riders once lived in one of the two moons of the Phantasy Realms world. But such a moon was consumed by a lightning storm destroying it. This is how the first drakes came to the world of Phantasy - they fled from their once peaceful home to reach to a land of turmoil and war. They first met the storm riders and shared their lightning knowledge with them and for a while they found a new home - a new place to live. Such knowledge gave the storm riders some leverage fighting the lava wizards whose quest for more land seemed insatiable. And peace settled in... Centuries later, some drakes decide to leave and explore the world, thus giving origin to the great Drake diaspora. In this path, drakes began breathing fire as a result of sometimes eating gold and drinking from lava pits. However, many drakes remained faithful to the riders. As time went by, the Storm Riders Dwarven neighbours, tired of being the only ones in Phantasy that held no special power apart from digging deep and trading expertise, decided to invest in a University to research archane powers to increase their influence. Needess to say they found no help either from the elves nor the mystical wizards - their magical secrets were not to be shared with the Iron Dwarven. So their investigation began exploring nature and if there was power to retrieve from it... and recently, they discovered the power of the spark. This began the Dwarven Industrial era. They built many machines and contraptions to help in their daily needs. But once the Iron Dwarven began applying their newfound technology on weapons and vehicles, the Storm Riders knew war was coming and they should act fast. Only one faction should control the power of the spark. Who will it be? You choose :D The set This set would portray a skirmish in the great battle for the spark. It includes two Storm Riders and a buildable dragon with wings that flap up and down and front to back, moveable tail and neck. It also includes two Dwarven Science Guild members in their steampunk tesla tank with moveable driving crank. 360º rotating cannon tower, two spring missiles and a crystal accessible from the back to power up the engine. And soon to be on ideas per friend's request :D

    Wasteland Raider-Trike

I just love post-apocalyptic themes, so I decided to build some sets for it a while ago. This was my first model: the "Raider-Trike". More pictures of my creations can be found in the LEGO folder of my homepage!
  15. Here is my first-ever render! However, since it is sci-fi, I post it here, right? I looked around and that seems to be correct. If it isn't, I apologize admins! Behold, the Indomitable Rush! This ship blatantly steals ideas from both my Man-o-war airship and my Manticore mech. But the end result, I think, still looks original.

  17. One of the first, and most lasting machines to emerge from that mysterious militant nation, Tartrosia. After Tartrosia entered the war, these little tanks emerged by the millions and were seen all over the battlefield beneath the vertical city of Musina. The Chubby tank boasts four powerful machine guns and a single pulse cannon. It seats one pilot who also is the gunner. This MOC came about as I tried to manufacture a turret for my big airship (stay tuned! It'll be here by, hopefully, the end of the month.) The turret didn't work out, so I modified it. Please, comments and/or criticism appreciated.

    Hyperborea

So I've got my new Cuusoo project up. It's a mix of dieselpunk (think Jon Hall's stuff), steampunk, and classic Adventurers themes. I've made sure to include characters that are fairly interesting (with lots of parts that customizers should like)... And if you're the type to be more inclined to create vehicles, you're well covered thus far: That's for sky-fi fans... And this bad boy is for the mecha-lovers out there. If you're interested in supporting, do it now! If not (or even if you're already a rabid fan), comments, criticism, and helpful pointers would be greatly appreciated.

    MOC: The Airborne Jade

Behold! The Airborne Jade! Originally a cargoship, this adventuring vessel was first commandeered by it's heroic pilot, Edvar Figgens, after he had an encounter with the Musina's Royal Air Police. Being an adventurer, Figgens of course did not pay for the airship but merely jumped into the controls while it's original pilot was eating a spicy sausage. Adventurers are not complete without a few scantily-clad females. Figgens has two. One was originally the mistress to a wealthy crime lord in Bulava. The other was part of the crew that manned the Airborne Jade when it was still a cargoship. Their names are unimportant, they are just garnishes, in the old heroic chauvinistic fashion. This was a really fun build. Please tell me what you think of it!
  20. A scout-sized mech made by the geniuses at Central Machines to act as the expendable force for the Cartan army. Costing less for raw materials than any other Central Machines mech, the Snotling is the perfect option for revolutionary forces, such as this Tartrosian rebel soldier piloting this mech. Here she is! Take a peek "under the hood"! I appreciate any comments/criticism. Check out more pictures on my Brickshelf Gallery.
  21. Here is the latest from the engineers and mechanics of Central Machines! The XVI "Manticore" Class mech! The most powerful war machine in Central Machine's arsenal. It has two massive 6cm gatling cannons on either side of the two-person cockpit. A smaller machine gun is located in the undercarriage. This powerful machine carries six automaton infantry troops housed in the rear. A delightful play feature (see video) allows you to pull out all troops at a single time. Here's a side view. And an upward shot. And here is a link to the video of the play feature: http://www.flickr.co...in/photostream/

    MOC: Dieselpunk "Gremlin" Class Mech

With a clank and a hiss, the Gremlin is ready for action! The smallest mounted unit in the Central Machine's arsenal, The Gremlin is a versatile little mech that works as scout, infantry, and artillery. During the Blackblood Wars Central Machines produced over 65,000 Gremlins making the most produced mech to date. I based this MOC using the skeleton of Exo-Force 7711. http://www.bricklink...em.asp?S=7711-1 Here is an open-cockpit photo.
  23. There is a fog upon the battlefield. The broken bodies of men and machine lay limp on the bloodied ground. The battered remains of battle machines still hiss out smoke. This waste, this destruction, could be caused by only one thing: The Goblin. In response to the Attatech III, the Central Machines X was born and bred for total warfare. With four massive 6 cm cannons, four missle lauchers, and reverse-seated machine gunners, the Goblin is a veritable walking fortress. Here is an aged photo, which, as you know, I like to do. Here is the valiant crew! I hope you enjoy. More pictures on Brickshelf.
