    [ESL-FB] The Cliff of Pontelli

It was a bright day in Proud Pontelli. There were no signs of warning as to the dramatic events to follow. Asma April, Pontelli's self-appointed Mayor, was taking a stroll while talking to Colonel Brickinson. Asma: Colonel, tell me about the situation in my, erm, in our city. Brickinson: The mood is not very good at this point in time, Ma'am. Asma: My mood is great. No reason for anyone to feel bad. Brickinson: Well, the economy is not doing well, Ma'am. The ban on pets has led to a small increase in our fur production but that was not sustainable. With all of the cats absent, the mice population increased beyond imagination. The rodents have plundered our flour supplies. Bread prices have risen ridiculously. People are hungry. Many merchants are staying away from Pontelli now. And the army is not happy too. Asma: I have increased our army. Again no reason to feel unhappy. Brickinson: Well, the soldiers have not been paid. Look at the sourly faces of your personal guards, if you want proof. Asma: They should feel honoured to serve me. What is mere payment against this honour? Brickinson: In any case, Pontelli's treasury is empty. We cannot invest in anything anymore. I hate to break it to you but we are broke, Asma: Luckily, my modest Mayor muneration has allowed me to keep a few coins. Asma: So, Brickinson, you are bringing no good news? Brickinson: I am sorry, Ma'am. Asma: Well, you better should be. I can see it now. This is your fault. You have been plotting against me. Brickinson: I beg your pardon (notices something on the ground) Asma (thinking): He is standing right next to the cliffside. Just a little push to get rid of my enemy - forever! (raising her arms she starts to run towards Brickinson) Then things happen very fast. Brickinson bows to pick up what he has seen on the ground. ... and Asma April stumbles over him... and her impulse catapults her over the side of the cliff! THUD Brickinson looks up again, wondering what has just happened... the others stand shocked. They go to the side to look... And then they realize that it is over. Suddenly there is hope again in Pontelli. In Free Pontelli.

    Final Chapter (Brickinson)

Shortly after arriving in Pontelli harbour, Brickinson's friends rushed to meet him. "What have you got there?" Alberto da Pontelli asked. "Some coloured glass I was given on some far away island", Brickinson replied. Toktawhoo raised his voice: "Bring this to a bank you must." Brickinson was tempted to disagree but he did not want to offend Toktawhoo who had brought him home to Pontelli. "Sure, sure", Brickinson said. "Now", Toktawhoo insisted. They saw him off at the Bank of Pontelli. "Well Toktawhoo, let me find out what this coloured glass is worth in silver." When Brickinson entered the hall no-one took notice of him. "Good man", Brickinson said handing the piece of glass to the man behind the counter. "Will you be so kind to give me its value in silver?" The man behind the counter stopped and stared. His eyes widened, his skin turned purple, red, white and then yellow again. "Certainly, Sir", the man stammered in panic, "certainly. We will do everything we can. The Bank of Pontelli is at your service." It dawned on Brickinson that the gem might be worth something. The clerk was shouting some orders to some men out of sight and started sweating. Two properly dressed employees appeared, carrying ingots of silver. They kept bringing new ingots for quite some time. Brickinson was watching with growing amazement. "I am rich!" While the silver was piling up in front of Brickinson, the man behind the counter was still sweating. The clerk cleared his throat. "Well, Sir, we are very sorry but we currently do not have the required silvery quantities." "Would you also accept some additional golden ingots? And we are awaiting a new delivery of silver next month. Would it be ok to you, Sir, to kindly wait so long until the payment is completed?" "I hate to wait", Brickinson replied (suppressing a grin). "But I am willing to make an exception." "How very kind of you", the clerk replied, almost fainting. Brickinson looked at the pile of silver. "I expect you to deliver this to my home." "Yes, Sir, it will happen immediately." "Great", Brickinson thought, "I am suddenly very rich. And I still have the second gem." Brickinson headed home. His wife opened the door, staring at him in surprise and happiness ... ... and then she saw the piles of silver and gold. Brickinson drew a deep breath. "Well, I'm back", he said. - - - The End - - - [Second Speaker] All is well that ends well. [First Speaker] Fortune favours the bold [Second Speaker] A single swallow doth not the summer make. [First Speaker] What? [Second Speaker] Sorry, I got carried away. [Voice] Will the two of you get back to work! [First and Second Speaker] Yes, Sir, immediately. And now you can see all of those pictures (in larger versions) and more in the corresponding flickr album. C&C Welcome!

    Island in the Sun

Our hero, Colonel Brickinson was lost at sea and since we have not ... Wait! I can see him! Just a tiny figure swimming in the wild wild ocean. Brickinson was using his last strength to keep afloat.. Things could have been so easy if that shark had not decided to dive... He had seen an island in the sun distance and he was doubling his efforts to get there. When he would be there, he would sing in praise of the shining sand. And while he was struggling he had an idea: why not try backstroke? That turned out to be much easier - and (for the first time) we can see our hero smiling. In a strange vision that came to him, Brickinson saw himself as winner of an international swimming contest: [second Speaker] Brickinson has almost made it to the island. [First Speaker] Very good. That gives us new possibilities. [second Speaker] What do you have in mind? [First Speaker] You will see, my young padawan, you will see. [second Speaker] Ok. See I will. Here is the Simian-Plan storyline: 1 MRCA Result April & May: Sunk and Taken by Pirates 2 Has Brickinson gone mad? 3 The End of a Pirate 4 Visiting a Pirate Island 5 A Dream Within A Dream 6 Pirate Hunter King Archibald 7 Woe is me! 8 The Black Moustache and his Green Flying Dutchman 9 ... but I have signed the contract .... 10 Now, what have we got here ... 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun So that has resolved one cliffhanger (at least to some part) Stay tuned - C&C welcome!

    The Great Escape

Where was I with that strange story? Ah, right. The evil pirate Gisberth had captured Colonel Brickinson - who had turned out the be "The Black Moustache". Brickinson was imprisoned by the pirates, awaiting his fate. .... and now I need a lot of pictures to tell the story of "The Great Escape" ... Brickinson had found some strange drawing on the prison wall. About some way to move the bed he was lying on. It seemed like complete nonsense to him. While Brickinson was about to fall asleep in his prison cell... ... Gisberth was on the watch... When Brickinson awoke from his refreshing slumber, he found the pirates unconscious or missing... The key to the cells was lying on the floor and all the doors were open. It was all very strange. Brickinson rushed outside looking for the red boat but it was gone. Instead a rather large shark was mooring by the pier. The shark looked at Brickinson and Brickinson stared back. "This is madness" he thought, approaching the shark. The shark displayed no signs of hostility and so the absurd idea that had come up in Brickinson's mind manifested itself and called for action. So he boarded the shark. "Oh my goodness, no-one is ever going to believe this! I will have to tell everybody that I escaped by making a raft out of sea turtles!" "What a great escape!" [First Speaker] How was your trip? [second Speaker] Successful. [First Speaker] Good. Have you been spotted? [second Speaker] No-one who has seen me is still alive. [First Speaker] Do we know where Brickinson is heading? [second Speaker] We can only guess. 11 The Great Escape C&C welcome! (That was a lot of work...)

    Has Brickinson gone mad?

There was a certain confusion within the troops of the EWTC. Some officers asked themselves: "Has Colonel Brickinson gone mad?" But they would ask this in solitude, not when he was around. When Colonel Brickinson left the outpost after the inspection he looked stern but satisfied. The outpost had now been equipped with a decent long range cannon. It all looked well, except for the new flag: What must he have been thinking? Brickinson was quite determined about the new flag. [second speaker] It has begun. [First speaker] Good. Send out ravens to our friends and prepare steps two and three. [second speaker] It will be done. Some shots of the outpost without the Colonel: Actually the MOC looked different, possibly better before I added all those transparent pieces to create the waves. The plain baseplate made everything look simpler - and more classic. Let me know what you think. C&C welcome. (Larger pictures and also a view of the modular structure of that tower on flickr.) [first episode] Here is the Simian-Plan storyline: 1 MRCA Result April & May: Sunk and Taken by Pirates 2 Has Brickinson gone mad? 3 The End of a Pirate 4 Visiting a Pirate Island 5 A Dream Within A Dream 6 Pirate Hunter King Archibald 7 Woe is me! 8 The Black Moustache and his Green Flying Dutchman 9 ... but I have signed the contract .... 10 Now, what have we got here ... 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun
  6. Colonel Brickinson was in a bad, bad mood. It was not that he was supposed to visit Major Capaldi and inspect the southern fort. He liked Capaldi and the fort was in great shape. It was the fact that they had made that scientist the Mayor of Pontelli. And that scientist had started to give him orders! Colonel Brickinson was in a bad, bad mood... Behold the bad tempered Colonel: and Major Capaldi: At least, Colonel Brickinson thought, they have a monkey... Modular build: (One attempt to do something with a raised baseplate) C&C welcome.

    [CH 1B] Brave New World

After a dangerous journey Colonel Brickinson finally sets foot on a newly found island. For Eslandola, for King and Gold ... and Country ... and Gold! Aided by his biograph Bill Spillwine, Colonel Brickinson records every second of his first encounter with Huarriu, the leader of the strange islander tribe. Apparently the arriving Eslandolands had disturbed a secret ritual in which the strange statue was obviously involved. Bill Spillwine already had a title for the story: Brave New World. Would this island hold treasures for Eslandola? Better pictures can be found on bricksafe.
