    [MOC] Christmas Winter Village

Hi everyone. My daughter and I have been working on a Christmas Winter Village MOC. Its based around the Santa's Workshop and the other Winter Village sets. We've also built a large Christmas Tree, a custom Lego Church and a number of smaller features. I hope you like the MOC. If you want to watch the previous 5 updates showing it being built from basic structure, to the working tree lights, to where it is today, click on our Youtube channel link. I'd love to hear from you. Feel free to leave any comments. Thanks, Mike

  3. Together with my mother Anne Mette I have build the Adventist Church in Roskilde, Denmark. The church was built in 1963. The LEGO version was built to celebrate the 50 years anniversary in 2013. Hidden Garden's Church

Here we are with another freebuild: Hidden Garden's Church. I wanted to build for one time something religious and so I come up with this: a church with adjacent a small cemetery with tombstones and crosses. Ah, and I know I used yellow and flash minifig but I didn't want to change all of them to one color and I like it anyway. This is part of the Avalonian Task 4 - Historican Settlements in the category Religious: Chapel, Monastery, Temple, Shrine, in particularly as a Chapel. C&C are always welcome and I hope you Enjoy it! Hidden Garden haven't a real church as a detailed religion; every citizen had the greatest freedom, as long as he or she didn't go to bother too much the rest of the inhabitants or threatened the safety of the population and of the entire state. The church of Hidden Garden is therefore more of a gathering place than a whorship place, even if there are still some liturgical functions. It is located in an separated area from the main village and it is slightly higher than Hidden Garden, so from the adjacent cemetery is possible to observe the whole village that is nevertheless becoming more a small town than a village. In this sunny day, Alexander Vandangant accompanies Lyanna to meet Amos Graverascal that will held a function; Alexander isn't very religious but he didn't miss the opportunity of being able to accompany Lyanna and have a chat with Amos, always interesting. They are not the only, others people of Erila have come to attend the function and speak with Amos....

    Godwins Hollow - Moving In

We recently had to move - we live in Kuwait and since we're not locals we can't own property so when the landlord says go you go. Anyways, it has afforded us the opportunity to setup a new layout in Godwins Hollow. We've got everything planned out and most of the existing buildings are where they should be but there is still lots of room for new! You can see more here and here.
  6. The good people of Godwins Hollow had to have a house of worship so St. Thomas Church came to be. Some folks don't take to the non-purist stained glass windows but when lit from the inside we think they're pretty neat. Hope you enjoy. You can see more here and here.

    [MOC] Small church

I'd like to present to you a small church I built to test some ideas before I do something bigger. It was fun building and I learned a bit while doing it. I'm also curious what you like and don't like in it. Is there any minifig in Lego that can do well as a priest?

    The Town of Daydelon

This is an entry for the Medieval Town category of the Colossal Castle Contest. My younger brother, whose builds I often post in Historic Themes, helped me build this. There are three buildings in the scene: a bakery (the red building), a inn (the tan building), and a church. All the buildings have full interiors and all the doors work. I'm quite pleased with how this turned out and it will be staying together a bit longer than my builds generally do (a few days at least ). I'd like to receive UoP credit for: half-timbered Tudor style [Architecture], stained glass [General Building], and city scene [Anthropology] = 3 credits Daydelon has become a very busy town. The church in the center of town has had many new buildings spring up around it, including a bakery and inn: To see more pictures go here All C&C welcome

    MOC : Santorini, Greece

Hello all, There is my LEGO MOC model, Santorini In this 96x96 model, I had put sone iconic buildings of Santorini, such as windmill, church and some white villa. Really thanks for your watching.
  12. A danish church designed by a danish architecte built with danish bricks The building For the last TechLUG contest, it was required to walk into the steps of Jorn Utzon by creating a building designed by this worldwide known Architecte for his Sydney Opera House. Scanning his creation, I found that this church is particularly interesting. Indeed, when we consider the outstanding design of Sydney's Opera roof made with fractions of spheres, it is surprising that the same architecte designed also this church looking much more like an industrial building. However, when one examines the interior of the church with its nicely curved ceiling, the Utzon touch becomes an evidence. For me, the ceiling profil looks like a see wave but clouds were the source of inspiration of J. Utzon (in a church, are we not near the sky ?). The link with Sydney's Opera and its roof cut into spheres becomes more clear when one consider this drawing Where one sees that the profil find its origin into many arcs of circle like the Opera'roof and the ceiling of its main hall Inside the church, the light is particularly impressive because it is canalized by the curved white ceiling Finally, an aerial picture This , mixing real and virtual pictures, gives you a nice 3D description of the building .If you want to see more about the church, I suggest you this pdf file and this one who analyzing the building in terms of additive architecture. Finally, this diaporama allows to do a virtual complete visit of the church. The goal of the construction I think that you have understood that I want to include the interior ceiling into my MOC. This is clearly a building for which the interior is essential to get its architectural concept. It is also well suited for such of construction because the ceiling is a single profil and the roof is made of straight plates : the whole ceiling/roof section being completed by the two very similar facades. The idea is then to aloow to access inside the building by removing the rwo facades : the ceiling/roof section has then to be self standing without having to be supported by the facades. This represents the challenge of the MOC. The version in lego bricks I have started bu building the facades checking that the roof remains hidden by them, then I have built the base and finally the ceiling/roof section. The facades with their glass roof have fixed the scale : indeed, for this roof, trans clear cheese slopes are the most sguited fixing the thickness of the facades to 2 studs. To built the walls of the facades, I have used a few hundred of 1x2 white plates with 1x2 grey bricks on top allowing to render their particular shape. For the ceiling, I have mainly used arches, half-cylinder or various curved parts : for this, I had to build cylinder facing cylinder using hinges with 2 and 3 fingers. The roof is made with tiles fixed onto plates assembled to the ceiling using 2x1 hinge bricks or by the couple Le toit est constitué de pans réalisés à l'aide de tiles liés par des plaques fixés au montage par des briques plate with handle/plate with vertical clip. The virtual MOC First, a virtual MOC has been made and used to do this stop motion video showing the constructions steps . The ceiling profil and the roof tof the virtual MOC The real MOC The base : It includes some elements recalling that the building is a church like an altar, a baptistry and wide seats. I have also included some element specific to this church like the corridor behide the seats which is a white grid inside the church and a brown grid outside which are represented by 1x2 vertical grid tiles and like the elevated space behind the altar delimited by white fences. Without the facades : The MOC is finally very stable and stands easily without the facades. The two facades : They include corridors in there lower section (made with panels two bricks high) to recall that they are mainly hollow and one includes the organ hidden by the brown panels With the backward facade : The complete church viewed from outside : Jorn Utzon presenting his building : Thanks for having read this long presentation and I hope you will enjoy this MOC.

[MOC] Doctor Who - Father's Day

Hello Two months ago I was infected by Thorsten with the “Doctor-Who”-Virus. In the last time he celebrates the 50. anniversary with several iconic MOCs of the different scenes and doctors. Because of the lack of time (preference on some other projects), he asked me if it could be of interest to me building a MOC of the series. Of course it was, so I searched for a iconic scene to materialize. My decision was the church from “Father’s day”. The hole MOC is build by me, minifigs and photos are from Thorsten. Thank you very much Murphy for this opportunity to be part of the great anniverary of Doctor Who and making this amazing pictures. Pictures on flickr and MOCpages. Or enjoy the atmospheric poster of Thorsten. I hope you like it. Jonas

    MOC: Church of Mary Magdalene

Hello everyone! This is the first MOC i've ever built. It is the Church of Mary Magdalene, located in Jerusalem, Israel. The entrance to the church The side of the church with the circular tower. The other side of the church. This is my favorite part of the church. I think the gold dome is really cool! However I don't like the way I had to build the other domes. Thank you for looking! Hope you like it.

    MOC: church baroque style

Hi everyone! I'd like to show you my last addition to my city: a church in sicilian baroque style! A bit of contrast with the mitteleuropean style of CC and GG...but for the moment I like it! Some adjustments also in the front square, and here the result: Hope you like it, and let me know if you have comments, suggestions... Bye Cunctator
  17. Hi, this is my first post at this forum, and also my first try on some more serious Lego building. I am fascinated with the LEGO Architecture-series in the amazing way the manage to capture the silhouette of a building, whit a relative “simple” Lego construction. I have now used two days trying to transform my local church into a Architecture-model. I have tried different techniques, and rebuilt it several times. What do you guys think now? Here is the first build which I was not happy with: Strandvik kyrkje.lxf
  18. B-OV-38B Hi. I've just finished a MOC which I've been working on for a few months. It's a smaller-than-minifig scale (not sure of the right way to describe the scale, it's much larger than normal microscale stuff) model of the church in London where I had my wedding reception last year. It was built in the late 1700's and designed by Hawksmoor, a contemporary of Christopher Wren. Here's photo of the church in real life (not mine, thanks to the photographer) And here is it on Streetview: A couple more views (There are more including WIP on my Flickr pages): Comments are appreciated. I have just over a week, and then I'm going to give it to my wife (she doesn't know what I've been working on), so I'd like to make it as good as possible. I'm particularly troubled with the spire, which goes from 4x4 studs and is 14 or so studs high. Plates don't seem to be made with enough of a sharp angle, so I've gone with the current design, which does have holes from certain views. Thanks for looking. Lee
