  1. It seems that Santa's Sleighs are all the rage this year. Here's my contribution. Merry Christmas.
  2. Merry Christmas everybody! I want to show you my version of santa's sleigh with reindeer. I made it about a week ago and it's a bit different than seen last days. It has the perfect size to fit my brother's 40206 Santa Claus
  3. I've been working on my Christmas village the past couple months and I've finally finished (at least for this year ;). I've been coming to this site for about a year or so and I've really enjoyed seeing everyone's creations and they definitely helped inspired me for this village. Special thanks to @mouseketeer's Holiday Train additions and @alex54's sidewalk idea, they both added so much to my scene. I used the major Lego Winter sets like the Post Office, train, bakery, toy shop, cottage, and market, but then also added some City sets and just winterized them like the train station and corner deli. The big thing I added was the ski slope with train tunnel underneath. First time building something like that and it came crashing down quite a few times as I was learning how to make it sturdy. Here is a video of the village as well as some of my favorite pics. If you want to see all my pics, you can look at the album here: https://www.flickr.com/photos/42918210@N02/albums/72157673805943793/with/31192649580/ Holiday train pulling into the station: A good look at the additional train cars designed by @mouseketeer This is a good look at how I winterized my train station and you can see my traffic signals and the sidewalks inspired by @alex54. Winter Village: Train Station

Every rail line needs a train station and this one lets passengers from Eastern Ontario, where my Winter Village is located, travel to the North Pole to visit Santa’s Workshop. There are a few old Canadian Pacific and Grand Trunk Railway Stations in Ontario that have a large round architectural element to them and this was the inspiration for my MOC. A cast iron wood stove warms the inside of the train station that is decorated for Christmas. I have included some photos of my Winter Steam Engine train as well. 6. Hey everyone! As it is tradition by now, my family's Christmas tree will be decorated with LEGO Christmas baubles. After my series of Disney Princess baubles last year I obviously had to create another series of custom decorations for this Christmas. As creative as I am I chose something quite unusual for me as this years overall topic - or maybe I just hadn't build enough Harry Potter creations this year already. Either way I had great fun covering Harry's adventures in seven different baubles with one bauble per book capturing some of the most iconic scenes. I loved working in this totally different scale and enjoyed the challenge to find something more light-hearted for the final three novels that as we all know are quite dark. Here they are - I hope you find all of them recognisable :) Harry Potter Christmas Ornaments by rolli, on Flickr In case you are not that well-versed with the Harry Potter novels or movies I will list the scenes that my seven baubles cover here: 1. Hogwarts with small boats on the lake 2. The Chamber of Secrets, with the phoenix Fawkes fighting the Basilisk in front of the giant head of Salazar Slytherin 3. Buckbeak taking off from the pumpkin patch next to Hagrid's hut 4. The second task of the Triwizard Tournament - or: How to steal an egg from a Hungarian Horntail and survive. 5. Hogsmeade, the tiny village close to Hogwarts that is constantly covered in snow. Fancy a tea in Ms. Puddifoot's? 6. The Quidditch pitch - today we have the grabbing match between Gryffindor and Slythering 7. Diagon Alley with our heroes escaping on the back of one of the Gringotts guard dragons I hope you like it just as much as I do - let me know, feedback in any way is appreciated :) Have a Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays! Best Markus

    Winter Village: Corner Store

Here's my entry for the Winter Village contest! I hope you guys like it! Happy Holidays!!!! (Also, just as a little comment: I'm from Southern California where there is no snow. This is my depiction of a not so white Christmas!) Winter Village: Corner Store by Carson Hart, on Flickr
  8. So when I finally got my train setup running around the tree, I had to convert a cattle car to a phone camera car, and take some POV vids. enjoy... Comedy Gold:
  9. Since it is the season, I thought we needed a custom Unikitty, so I present Christmas Unikitty: http://www.brickshelf.com/gallery/pirzyk/MOCs/christmas_unikitty.jpg The face is modled after 3622pb057 from the SD Comi-con Exclusive set, with the artwork done by my SO. Then I took that artwork and cut out the vinyl pieces on my silhouette cutter and placing the pieces by hand. It is still a work in progress, I plan on covering up the orange on the tail with more white vinyl and figuring out how to make a white pom pom on the unicorn tip.

[ MOC ] The Winter Express

Hi everyone! A little while since I completed and posted my creations. Winter is here, and Christmas is coming, and I think it is time to do something for my winter village. Here is my first try on making a train MOC, and it is an interesting building journey. I have looked at different beautiful locomotive engines online and created my version with a little seasonal deco. I don't want this to be a funny, cartoon Christmas tree, but a formal and decent express train going between the city and the winter village. The engine is the part that took me most time to create. I had the basic form in my head, but the mechanism and details actually required quite some understanding of the actual old locomotives. Luckily, the green Emerald Train gave me much hint and so I ended up with this: I added some interesting details to the front bumper part, using the claw pieces. I also tried a "tilted bottle" arrangement for the chimney part. The engine probably runs on diesel as there is no coal section. The wagon car follows the engine, and that is how you get your presents at the winter village! Freshly delivered from the city center! The passenger car is a simple one with all you need: doors and windows, and a streamlined profile. It looks like it has warm air supply already for your long journey through the winter: The last car is a mail car. Of course, you need to deliver a lot of parcels and Christmas cards to the villagers from the city. So, have we arrived yet? Yes, this is it! Hope you guys like it! :D Have a merry Christmas! ;)

    [MOC] Santa`s new Truck

It`s Christmas Time and we all know that Santa will be super busy this Time of the Year. Sure,we all know that Christmas is about Traditions and so is Santa, but this Year he decided it`s Time to upgrade his Mode of Transportation. Thanks to Animal Right Activists he had to retire his Fleet of Reindeers and had to whip up a modern Sled Replacement that is still tricked out with all the Christmas Magic. Well and here it is,Santa`s new Truck. It is based on a Ford Model AA with Dual Axles and a large Truck Bed to have enough Rom for all the Presents. 20161203_120613 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120628 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120641 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120658 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120705 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120722 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120738 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120807 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr 20161203_120926 by Christian Weber, auf Flickr It started as a rough Idea on LDD and developed into this Model. The colorful Design is intentional and so i incorporated red and white as the main Colors but added small gold and green Touches to fit in the Christmas Theme. The Front End,the Cabin and the Truck Bed are all in different Width in Studs and so i connected each witch Technic Pins. I tried to put in some Details like an Engine,a Drive Shaft and some Exhausts so it doesn`t look too bland on the Underside. The Truckbed is loaded with various Gifts (mainly taken from Adventcalendars and similar Builds) and is decorated with Lightstrings and golden Chains. Without the Presents, the Part Count is at roughly 190 Pieces. I really hope you all like my newest MOC,feel free to leave a Comment... Happy 2nd Advent.

    [IRL] Stocking hangers

Last year we didn't have any stocking hangers come Christmastime, so I built some. They worked so well my wife asked me to make them again this year. They hold a surprising amount of weight, even when the stockings are full (although I wouldn't leave them hanging full for long). Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Here are some pictures to show how they are made. Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Obviously they could be built differently, so long as they are stable. I left a notch in the back so that the stocking loop can hang nicely against the wall. They are attached with Command strips and I just leave the clear 2x1 plates there year-round (but I could take them off easily if I needed to). Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr Stocking hangers by rodiziorobs, on Flickr I used these to put up other seasonal decorations throughout the year, including flowers for spring, some wordart for Summer, and some Halloween decorations. I'll probably post those pictures later. It's always fun to find another way to have Lego all around the house! Especially when my wife approves.
  14. Well it is now officially the start of the Christmas season, and my latest creation is the house from the movie "A Christmas Story". In the States, this movie is iconic. So much so that it runs 24 hours straight on Christmas Eve on a particular channel, and the actual house where the movie was filmed was turned into a museum and gets 10s of thousands of visitors every year. However, it dawned on me that Lego fans outside of America may not even know about this movie. Thus, I figured that Eurobricks was probably the best place to get some perspective. Any feedback that you can provide would be great. Just a little about the model itself... I have an 8 year-old, and I really wanted it to be playable for her. Thus, it is modular where the second story and roof can be removed, and it fits fully on a 32x32 baseplate (actually two white 16x32 plates to be exact). Many of the movie scenes were shot in a studio, so the interior layout is based on a mix of the film and the actual house (in Cleveland, Ohio). It was created 100% percent with bricks that I had or was able to procure from bricklink, so there are no custom bricks. I was even able to find a tile with a "FRAGILE" sticker on it! To distinctly set it apart from other Lego houses, I added snow in a unique way to the roof and ground. The most fun feature that I was able to recreate was the famous leg lamp from the film using a Lego light brick above it so that it can be turned on. Anyway, if people outside of the US don't really know about the movie, then I guess those details would be lost. Just looking for some feedback and perspective (mostly from non-Americans, but anyone can feel free to weigh in). I did end up submitting it to Lego Ideas last month, so there are more and higher res pics there, as well as more of a description of the project and how the leg lamp works. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/156866 Here are just a couple of pics though... Just let me know your perspective and/ or if you have any questions. Thanks so much!
  15. Hi everyone, Today I'm here to show my new MOC, Santa's Sleigh. From Rebrickable: Build Santa's Sleigh out of your Lego Technic pieces! Display it on your shelf, put it under the tree, or play with it! It features: a seat, candy-cane skis, suspension, and a place for all of Santa's gifts. I hope you guys will build this and tell me what you think. Also, you can like it on Rebrickable if you wish to do so. Thanks for reading and have a great day! P.S. A big thanks to Rebrickable for approving this so fast.

    My Winter Village diorama

Hi all, after buying the toy shop and santa's workshop this year I decided to create a diorama on three baseplates 48 x 48 using also the village market that I bought last year and bricklinking the bakery. Hope you like it
  17. I have fond memories of listening to Harold Engel’s “A Child’s Christmas in Scarborough” on the CBC while travelling to relatives during the holiday season. His irreverent Canadian take on the Dylan Thomas classic poem made the long car rides almost enjoyable. I have tried to create a Lego MOC inspired by being a kid in Eastern Ontario over the holiday season. Some other inspirations are the comic strip Calvin and Hobbes, the film “A Christmas Story” and of course the annual Doctor Who Christmas special (Fezzes are cool!). A Child's Christmas in Eastern Ontario by Karen Metz, on Flickr A Child's Christmas in Eastern Ontario by Karen Metz, on Flickr A Child's Christmas in Eastern Ontario by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr I have included a few features that have been inspired by and/or borrowed from fellow MOCers. These include: JKbrickworks’ miniature tractor, Miro Dudas’ birch tree, Michael Jasper’s rocking chair, Eero Okkonen’s lamp post from the Winter Village Brewery, Etzel use of the Duplo fur for a rug from the winter log cabin, Thorsten Bonsch‘s typewriter from the H.P Lovecraft’s Study and Vecchiasignora Ceppo’s knitter using bagpiper’s kilt from the Winter tailor shop. So many talented people. Gallagher House (1885) in Newboro, Ontario, which has an amazing slate roof. For modular purists there are no interior stairs, which would have taken up a lot of interior space and I wanted to fill with holdiay/family scenes instead, so teleportation it is (at least they could use the Tardis). The artwork in the artist studio is a copy of the Group of Seven artist Lawren Harris’ “Pine Tree and Red House, Winter City Painting II" (1924). The bridge is inspired by the stone bridge in Lyndhurst which is the oldest bridge in Ontario, built in 1856/1857, and is still in use today. Hope you enjoy and an early Happy Holidays! image by Karen Metz, on Flickr image by Karen Metz, on Flickr

    An early Winter Village

I built a Winter Village which contains most of the Lego Winter Village sets and a Winter Station, which I will be submitting to Lego Ideas later on (the station is easily converted to a non-winter station). Here are some pictures: And ofcourse I made a winter themed video too! The video is also the reason why I already built a Winter Village this soon: I want the video to gain some watchtime on Youtube so more people will find it around Christmas :)
  19. Merry Christmas, everyone! Over the years I have found a lot of inspiration here at Eurobricks so I thought I'd give just a little bit back by sharing photos of the Winter Village / Christmas display I have made together with my two boys this December. It consists of all the official Winter Village sets and a slightly modified version of the train from 79111 - Constitution Train Chase. Plus a few extra details here and there...! Lighting done with LifeLites. More pictures are available at Flickr.

    Winter Village Train Station

Winter Village Station_4 Introduction Lego have released two trains and a lot of nice buildings for the winter village, but it still misses a nice place to stop. This is a station with a nice clock tower with two bells so that the citizens can keep track on the time during the Christmas shopping. Inside the station building there is a waiting room, full ticket booth and a small workshop in the tower for maintaining the clock and the bells. On the right side of the station you have a nice fountain and the train schedule. As you can see in the pictures this would be a very nice supplement for the old holiday train (10173) and this years new winter village set (10254). Basic Info Approx Dimensions: Length 62 cm x Width 12.8 cm x Height 37,4 cm Number of pieces (with minifigs, without track): 1200 Clock print: 17038 Input and support will be appreciated. https://ideas.lego.com/projects/154973 Winter Village Station_with Train Winter Village Station_Detail
  23. Call me crazy. This year I'm making custom Lego Advent calendars. Every year we seem to buy two of the 3-4 available Lego advent calendars for my two girls, and we usually end up disappointed. Apart from the minifigs, the builds are usually a little too close the micro build size for us and a little too far away form the mini build size. In addition, the parts usually just end up in my "parts" pile and no one ever really builds those models ever again. This year I'm going to make it a little more fun. (Hopefully) The first mini build I've designed is this fountain. All of the models will have some use (every year hereafter!) in our small Winter Village. Since I have two girls, I'll have to make more than the usual 24 builds. Some days will be one each, others will be a "you need to work together to make this one" build. Wish me luck. If you're at all interested in building this model, the building guide I'll be giving the girls with this one is on my site: http://www.charlesp.org
