Hi! Today I start my new project: Winter in the Raven's Wharf This will be my biggest MOC to date and there are quite a few topics to cover I plan to build a medieval port somewhere in the far north. I did surveys on YouTube and Instagram, I asked what season to choose... ...Winter won! The project will consist of several parts, the whole thing will be divided into several baseplates. The size of 60x150 studs is planned. On the waterfront, I will want to build a lot of buildings for residents, but also military ones. The main attraction, however, will be the large ship I'm already building There are several inspirations, I will definitely turn on the Witcher 3 game more than once to explore Novigrad and look for interesting ideas. The main ship will have about 1500 parts and I will definitely make a PDF instructions for it. I've already built a small boat for a fisherman, I'll probably build more of these. I'm going to need a lot of parts, especially for building water. Since I'm building winter, I'll want to use the new animals from the City Arctic series - I'll add some seals, but I'm tempted to add a killer whale as well. I will be glad if you write what you think about this project, but also write your ideas what I can build here :) In the next episode I will definitely want to show the finished ship, I will have to make sails and instructions.

Hi all, In advance, sorry for my english... For the 10th edition of Fana'briques exhibition which took place near Strasbourg - France, 26 to 28 June 2015, my friends Jerome (Kloou), Sweetsha (Florian), Eric (N3rik68) and myself, had the idea of a collaborative display presenting different ©Disney worlds and iconic characters. In this project, we wanted at least one piece attracts the visitor's eye ,from a distance. And I had this "wonderful" idea to propose the building of this castle, almost 1 m high and 90 cm wide and 55 cm deep, and more than 8,600 pieces, for a little more than 450 hours work. If you have not noticed, or if you don't know, it closely resembles that found in Disneyland Paris. It is unfortunately still in WIP and will be presented complete in the coming weeks. It lacks even two towers and the roof of the ballroom. The approach of this kind of project must meet minimum targets to be usable on exhibition, including the main criteria: modularity and size retention. We didn't want to exceed a depth of one meter, so you can chat with visitors . The castle has necessarily been "compressed", ie shallower than the true. But I wanted a maximum of items are present: almost every round towers - it definitely miss one, the ballroom , the various buildings, ... It is built in two modules of 48 x 48,to be more easily carried. He must be as light as possible : hollow structure, technic beams and various BURPs bear most of the buildings. It must then take into account all the constraints and there is one that I had forgotten when I launched the idea : color. Yes Yes! the castle is pink! And when I started to see the catalog of this color on Bricklink , there I somewhat disillusioned. There is extremely limited, and round parts are almost nonexistent. Argh, the castle has got many rounded towers ! Especially the parts are expensive ... To limit weight and costs to a minimum, I went on a strong operation of SNOT. Because the bright pink tile 1 x 2, for example, is very affordable. Another constraint : roofs. After some tests, the classic blue was not a nice rendering . So I turned to the dark blue. And you know what? Although this time the rounded parts exist, they are expensive too... And given the number of roofs to build... At the top, of course, there are decorations in pearl gold color. A beautiful selection of parts, including minifigs accessories that allow the NPU very easily, but few plates and expensive cost. In short, you'll understand that this creation has exploded the budget I had set myself. Fortunately in these cases, the service "Bricks & Pieces" from Lego is a great help for significantly cheaper than what you can find on BrickLink on many references of rare colors. And it also gives access to all parts of the new year, as the new golden gates of the range Elves. I worked on documenting myself on the Internet. There are many pictures of the castle, but which often represent the front and left side of the castle - when you're facing him. Nothing for the right side. Closer research work took me on the blog of a railway modeler who integrated the castle in his diorama. So I went to his pictures - the representation is more simplistic - to assemble the missing side pictures "official", with which I have taken some liberties like to remove the bottom of the tower and incorporate a small balcony worked to make it a little more airy visually. How did we build rounded towers when we haven't got adapted round parts ? Many thanks to the cheese slopes ! This is the part that allows for a round with the most "facilities" possible. So I imposed this constraint with light bluish gray towers, to keep some overall harmony. I deliberately kept the simplistic style of the rocky parts to respect the style of the amusement park. Reliefs kept to a minimum, without major frills. From the front, I tried to respect the style . Few SNOT, except at the top - to save bricks, worked a little kick - and some angles formed by the wedges. But I am allowed total freedom with the small water fall and vegetation as it allows to highlight other skits in a different setting. In terms of adjustments between buildings, there will be some pieces to pick up. Just having finished for the exhibition has not helped to refine, and while working on half stud is like something easier, working on third or fourth stud, that's another story... But the castle had to be presentable for exhibition. Ultimately, what makes me most proud of in this project, is not so much having to present it in time for Fana'briques exhibition, and celebrate as it should be 10 years with friends - it was a pleasure - that have is a tribute to my daughters. Just seeing the look of my great daughter, every day watching the build changes, and see his eyes shining, to tell me that, that's it the more present I could have back. [MOC] MEDIEVAL SPECTACULUM at the Museum of History - BDP

Dear Eurobricks community, it’s time again! Like every year, locals are as excited as hobby knights and maids from all over the region: The Medieval Spectaculum at the Museum of History opens its doors! A festival where young and old can relive the Middle Ages. The narrow, cobbled streets are packed with lovingly and detailed designed market stalls and attractions. Heart of the event and central place is the old Museum of History - located in a restored building that is several hundred years old. Whether it was once a prison, a town hall or something else (no one knows for sure) in any case it is the city's favorite. It offers culture-loving visitors the opportunity to explore the medieval world, while the little ones invent their own knight stories in the outdoor area. Of course, under grandma’s supervision. [Front: The facades should be designed differently, as you can see in the pictures. In addition, the outdoor area should appear lively - highlighted by children playing under grandma's supervision, lots of plants and other details to explore.] [Inside: The interior was used as a homage to the Classic Castle era. For example, you can see this by the designed tiles on the upper floor. There are also a few smaller functions built in.] At the juggler's stage, spectators can admire some wonderful, more or less dangerous performances and watch the fireworks every evening. On the ship swing, children can prove that knights can also be great sailors. The Night Watch at the well loves to delight interested people with scary and funny anecdotes and to accompany them on a journey through time. (A well, a fire hydrant and a street lamp...his loyal, yapping companion obviously lives in a paradise) Finally, the market is a great place to stroll. In addition to the merchant with her (mainly wooden) replicas of medieval equipment, berry juice, wine and other delicacies can be bought from the winemaker. Archery and ax throwing skills can also be tested here. About my intention: While visiting a similar festival with friends and family, the idea was born that it'd be a great opportunity for a new building project. I found it challenging and fascinating at the same time to combine my favorite theme (=castle) with a modern touch (=city). A combination that is probably not that common and that hopefully many people can enjoy. For me personally it was a nice change. Examples of the modern touch are the fire hydrant, the bird house, wearing glasses, visitors dressed in modern clothes and much more. Of course, it was also important to me to incorporate a lot of details and maintain an own style. The interior of the museum in particular gave me the space to show my love for the classical (castle) era. About the project: As some of you probably already guessed It's submitted to the Bricklink Designer Program (Link below). As always, I built it physically first. It took several months from the first brick to the completion of the instructions. When I transferred it to digital, I was curious to see how many parts it has. In fact, I had to reduce and ended up using around 3800 parts. 12 minifigures and four animals are included. There are also some stickers for the first time: 17 pcs. with 14 different designs. Due to the amount of detail, it is probably more suitable as a display set, but some functions are also integrated. The sensible reduced range of parts was challenging, but could mostly be solved. --- Thank you for taking the time to look into this project. I hope you like it and I'm happy about any kind of support - that includes a vote, feedback... but also criticism! East of the Whispering Woods lies the kingdom of Kadan. One of the peculiarities are the towers. These "Towers of Kadan", are build by the many nobles and mages in the land, each trying to make it even higher and more magnificent than the others. One such tower was constructed by the mage known as Kalla, his tower 'Azlarmuth' was extra special, because during construction a special seed was planted within. During the years, this tree grew, and the tower had to be renovated at some points because the roots and branches would seek it's way to the outside. Hello modular building and City fans, This modular Gothic Cathedral was my entry to Bricklink Designer Program Series 1. I have received many kind comments and support, but unfortunately it has not been selected, therefore I decided to make the instructions available here: https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-148170/_TLG_/gothic-cathedral Kit is available here: https://buildamoc.com/products/gothic-cathedral It is not actually based on a real building, but it contains many typical details: lancet arches, double lancet arch windows, a ridge turret, flying buttresses, portals with series of receding planes, rose windows etc., and there is a matching street lamp too. The roof assembly can be removed as one piece and in this case the internal details are visible: there is an altar with a cross, a candle holder, a church tabernacle, a brick built bible, there are benches, an organ, a holy water stoup etc.. The middle door on the facade and the side doors open outward, and work perfectly, the side doors on the facade open inward and they can be opened if the door handle pieces (the taps) are removed, but it is not se easy to close them in this case. It is a studless build, the unnecessary studs are hidden by tiles. When I started the design, the first version included appr. 4600 parts, so I had to optimized and simplified it a bit, but I am still really satisfied with the result. For example it could be very nice if there was trans color plates in the holes of the window fences, but it would mean too much additional parts (and I am also not sure if it is a legal technique). The building instructions guidelines have been followed. It is built from the palette "BDP Series 1", so there are some color and part restrictions. The part 15744 could be awesome as rose window on the facade, but unfortunately it is not available in black or light bluish gray. However, the technic gear 40 tooth works too. The bells could be pearl gold or something similar, but the best available option is the black which is ok. I hope you like my design, I appreciate any feedback. This is a build for the summer joust silhouette-category. (I used the opportunity to also add it to my GoH-story). Thought I would use it as an excuse to make my first post here in the historic themes-forum as well! In the great hall of duke Wifgrir the feudal city crest hangs on the eastern wall. A historic memento of the past but also a potential foreshadowing of future actions. The sword ‘The red dawn’ is depicted twined in the herb with the identical name. An homage to the first settlers finding the herb and therefore settling in the area. The sword portrayed in the city crest belonged to the legendary heroine Dand El Alume. Her name was gifted to the city. Dand El Alume’s tale dates back to ancient times and is a living part of folklore in Avalonia in general, but in Dandelume in particular. Dand lived during one of the centuries of the first druids and mighty wizards. A time long before Avalonia formed as a realm under the first king Artorious Rex. In a turbulent era of mystic and great dangers. Her many heroic acts are written down in the chronicles ’Bringer of the red dawn’ but are also recited in poems and traditional storytelling. In the ‘horn-squadron’, the knights are taught the chronicles of Dand by feudal scholars. They all aspire to one day be able to become the new ‘bringer of red dawn’…..

Two years ago, I've built a small medieval horse stable inspired by the Medieval Blacksmith 21325 (you can read all about it on its dedicated topic) : Shortly after that (I think it was in August 2021), I began working on a second model, I wanted to do something original, so I thought I'd do a joiner's workshop. Again, the inspiration comes from the Medieval Blacksmith, because I wanted my models to go together with the set, so that the village would look like a real village and not a collection of random medieval Lego creations. So I looked at the set, and noticed that there was a beautiful bed, with fine details. Surely it was made by a talented craftsman. So I decided to build his house and his workshop. Again, I used Mecabricks to design my model. It went through several iterations, over the course of about a year : The stairs moved a lot in the early stages. That's because I tried to think of the model as a real building, and for example I didn't like the idea of having the stairs inside the building because it meant the joiner and his wife would have to go though the workshop to go to their house that's above, I thought it would be better to have a clear separation between the working area and the living area, so I needed two doors and the stairs outside. But then it didn't make sense to have the stairs on the opposite side of the workshop door, so I'd have to move them to the "front" of the building, or at least the main facade. I wanted to make sure every side of the model was interesting to look at, so there's the "front" (which would actually be the back), with the workshop and house doors, the stairs, and the logs, a more relaxing / garden side with the pergola and the vines on the wall, the customer's entry with the balcony, the chimney and the sign, and a big door on the fourth side, with an oriel window above. But at one point I got stuck because I needed parts that aren't in Mecabrick's library for the roof. I tried to do something innovative with the horse stable by using the quite recent 2x4 oval tiles, and this time I wanted to use the small Technic panels 71682 and 89679. I ended up rebuilding the model with stud.io (I would have had to do it anyways to create the building instructions) and I gave it a try : Sadly it didn't quite work, I think this technique would be easier to use on a simpler model, with a square or rectangular footprint, so I'll save it for later. So I decided to reuse the technique from the stable instead, and here's the finished model : The interior is fully furnished : There's the workshop and a "showroom" on the ground floor, and a kitchen and a bedroom (with a small desk) on the first floor. I like when Lego models allow storytelling, so I thought it would be fun if the joiner made toys from his wood leftovers, and that his toys were so popular that even the prince and princess would come to buy them. It's also a nod to Ole Kirk Christiansen, who was a carpenter before he created Lego. The toys include knight figures, a watermill (which may or may not hint at my next model in the series ?), a carriage, a house, and of course a huge castle, made of interlocking wooden blocks. I haven't built this model physically yet, but I have submitted it to the BrickLink Designer Program, so maybe I'll build it when it becomes a set. While I was stuck on the roof of the joiner's workshop, I've built a bridge. Again, my inspiration came from the video game Skyrim : I've spent a long time wondering how I could build the curve of the road. It's the Ninjago set 71767 that gave me the solution : using rollercoaster rails. That technique allowed me to do a simple and modular build, so there's basically each end, a middle section, the rails, the road modules and the sides. I've displayed it with my horse stable and the blacksmith at an exhibition back in september : Instructions for the bridge are available on Rebrickable : https://rebrickable.com/mocs/MOC-133219/Leewan/medieval-stone-bridge/ I was a bit tough to break up the model in clean modules that would allow an easy build and customization, but I think I succeeded. It's possible to build the bridge as is, or to adapt it, to make it longer, narrower, the goal here was less to provide precise instructions to reproduce a specific model than guidelines to inspire people to build their own bridge. Here's a render of my two buildings with the bridge, or in other words the current state of my village (minus the blacksmith) : I'm thinking of doing a watermill next, but I'd like to do a monastic brewery as well. I'll have to do some research to make sure my model is believable, and see if I could make good monks minifigs. But maybe I could do something simpler, like a small watchtower. I'm not sure yet, and as you can see I can work on several models at the same time. Also, I'm already working on a condensed version of the joiner's workshop for the BDP series 3 if the current model isn't selected, but it could also very well become something else ! Anyways, I hope you like what you saw and that the bit about the design process of the models wasn't too boring, for those who read it all.

Built for Brickscalibur (Medieval Micro category) Legend spoke of a massive citadel within Enchanted Isles. Crafted from obsidian, it served as a brutal prison for particularly dangerous inmates. One such inmate was an elderly sorcerer. Worshipping the almighty White Wyrm, he prayed for salvation and a chance to escape from this awful fate. His prayers were answered in a dramatic fashion...

Around the time of the Winter Solstice, many in Historica's cooler regions will decorate pine and fir trees with a star and various ornaments. Ayra and Kars (wearing a scarf knitted by Ayra's mother) plan to continue that tradition, with Ayra rearing up to top the tree with a star. No ladders needed - only balance (something Ayra is struggling with). Meanwhile, Gerard is savoring his mulled wine, and Cobold is trying his hand at a snowman, all while a rabbit bounds outs of the snow! What a year this was - I slapped this MOC together for Christmas. I know its a day late, but there are people around the world (including my relatives in Austria) who are celebrating St. Stephen's Day (Stephanitag) or Boxing Day. So it's technically not late! None of the characters had any major changes, except for Ayra. I really like how her winter attire turned out, especially with the fur collar and leg bindings. This has been a great year. I hope you all had a Merry Christmas, and I look forward to seeing what the New Year brings!

Other Work: CDC2 CMF: socalbricks [Freebuild] Cobold's Crusaders (REVAMP) I'm back! After last year's fun CDC2 CMF, I was inspired to make more characters for the guilds. Enjoy! Geovana Guild: Mitgardia A sorceress who was adopted at a young age by amethyst-worshipping monks. Taught to harness the stones' power, she is now the last of her order. Despite this, she has vowed to defend the amethysts from pesky dwarven miners until her last breath. Boab Guild: Kaliphlin A blind naga assassin who can “see” through heightened senses of hearing and smell. His strongest ability is his sense of touch, using his hands, tail, and the hollow end of his spear to track nearby movements. A being of few words, he is steadfastly loyal to the Desert King (his mentor and first employer). Maridia Guild: Valyrio A mermaid who has made a small fortune selling the treasure she found at the bottom of Valyrio's harbors. Having learned water sorcery from her fellow merfolk, Maridia travels all throughout Valyrio's coastal cities, resting on a floating pool of water. She is currently making a sizable amount of money salvaging sunken treasure from Valyrian harbors and selling it in Canal Square. She has heard many tales of far-off lands from her customers; she plans on seeing all of them once she has enough money! Sko-Khan Guild: Nocturnus A soldier who was stranded in a massive pit during the war against Raavage, Sko-Khan spent weeks fighting off (and eating) giant scorpions (it was during this time that he ripped off a scorpion's claw and uses it as a weapon). After climbing out of the ravine himself, he became a muscle-for-hire for various Nocturnan warlords. He still carries the claw to this day, and has adorned his armor with matching scorpion imagery as a sign of respect for his old foes. Dombard the Doom-Bard Guild: Nocturnus Most bards lift the spirits with stories of bravery and heroism. Not Dombard - for reasons still unknown, he aspires to make his listeners as angry and miserable as possible. His lute (forged from and doubling as an axe) is unpleasant to the ears, and his voice is described as sounding like “nails on a chalkboard” and “a vulture being strangled” It is said that the latter is so grating that it can send members of races with “sensitive hearing” (such as elves and centaurs) into catatonic shock. Garrus Guild: Nocturnus Garrus saw his home of Abyssian turn to ice at the hands of Raavage’s forces. Though he survived the attack, his forearms did not, and he had them replaced with primitive prosthetics. Filled with rage, he decided to track down those responsible for the attack, adding massive swords to his prosthetics. Leaving a trail of bodies, he soon heard word that Raavage had already been killed (thus depriving him of his revenge). With no home, family, or outlet for his rage, the hulking reptilian became a brutal bounty hunter. Though he has mellowed with time, his infamous reputation remains unchanged (as does his enthusiasm for violence).

Hey everyone The latest addition to "A Thirst For Vengeance". The pictures are terrible but hopefully the builds are okay Radoslaw had stayed at the monastery for a few hours, waiting for the Elders to deliberate his request. He hoped that at least some would remember the oaths sworn to his father, but was painfully aware of how easily allegiances change. His thoughts were interrupted by a soft knock on his chamber door, followed by a hushed voice. “Sire, the Elders have passed their judgement. The Elders remain neutral in this matter, and thus the blessings of the Celestial Smith shall not be granted.” Radoslaw was hardly surprised but disappointed nevertheless, the list of allies grew thinner and thinner. As the large monastery doors opened, sunlight cut through the perpetual semi-darkness of the halls and chambers that comprised the tall gray building. Radoslaw was escorted outside by an elderly monk, clad in simple black robes, indicating his function as loremaster. Just as Radoslaw walked out of the gate, the old monk cleared his throat. He proceded to pull something from under his robes. To Radoslaw’s surprise, the monk presented him with a sword. Before he could could gather his thoughts or formulate a question, the monk uttered a silent instruction. “The less you know, the better.” He then turned around and walked back inside, closing the doors behind him. -
Hi! After a little break, I'm slowly coming back to the Castle! Maybe some of you know my projects of siege machines, and there were some - trebuchet, catapult, ballista, mantlet. A few years ago I built a working trebuchet and diorama "The Siege of Bricks". After a few years, I'm coming back to the topic and building a trebuchet again! This time it will be bigger, stronger and better historically reproduced. I hope I'll be able to make an PDF instruction, although it will not be easy, because there will be a lot of ropes and other non-standard accessories (lead balls in counterweight) I wish this time the range of the trebuchet was about 7-8 meters! The previous version had about 5-6 meters of range. I'm curious if 7-8 is possible. Currently the counterweight weighs 164g, which is more than before, the trebuchet is bigger, it has a longer arm. We'll see, haven't tested yet. More soon on my YT channel - Edge of Bricks. I will update the progress from time to time. Let me know what you think about this project!

I've recently gotten into designing some castles, but so far, none of them have been in minifig scale. Still, they turned out quite big. So I wanted to do a minifig scale castle at a reasonable size. I guess I achieved the former goal. Anyway, I picked Castle Lichtenstein, a beautiful little castle in the south of Germany. And I scaled it down a little bit more to make it more feasible. Unfortunately, things escalated again and the result is again too big to build it at a reasonable price. I am happy with the result though. I'm thinking about entering into Lego Ideas, even though it's way too big to ever make it into a set. But one could drastically reduce the part count by removing large parts of the cliff, get rid of the plants and a lot of the tiles, don't have double walls, etc. Anyway, what do you guys think? And BTW, here's a picture of the real Castle Lichtenstein
