    Letter to Hawksbrugh

Delighted by the success of his latest experiments, Alberto da Pontelli writes a letter: Dear Mr. Hawksbrugh, I am very thankful for the book you sent me on the possible existence of phlogiston. This has enabled me to achieve an unbelievable breakthrough: When you set fire to the gas that comes out of a bottle of old Oleon wine, the resulting phlogiston is powerful enough to lift objects. (edited) I can only encourage you to carry out some experiments for yourself. It would be interesting to find out whether other substances besides Oleon wine do also possess the same qualities. Your friend Alberto da Pontelli .. science has a tendency to spread ...
  4. We are close to running out of pictures, but ArchitectureFan and Captain Braunsfeld proudly present the next chapter of the Golden Age of Chicken Aviation: (in this case it is a chapter of chicken ballooning) The lava has been designed by ArchitectureFan. [ESL-FB4] Banana Shop

As you have seen how bananas are being shipped, you may wonder how the bananas are being sold. Here's the answer: The Banana Shop of Pontelli: The monkey ads have raised the popularity of the shop. The bananas in the shop are not cheap, but very sweet! Monkeys, men and women love the shop! As this is a surplus freebuild, I kindly ask for approval by Sea Rat, Oleon and Corrington visitors. C&C Welcome!
  13. Hi, when I did the "Fortify the Fortifications of the Fort" entry for Challenge II, I was struck by the thought that other uniforms than the Eslandolean green ones would look much better in that MOC. So, not linked to the challenge and not as a free-build, I have played around with the different teams we have in BoBS: As you can see, white and blue makes a fine contrast. ... red, white and black is working out fine too! Sea rats are colourful! Oh, sorry, this has turned into some sort of desaster... But I am sure that Captain Cookie and his gang are having fun! (The pirate on the ground is sleeping, if you were worried.) And here's how it started: Hey, this is the first MOC to feature all factions of BoBS - I apply for being frontpaged! ( larger pictures and a few more on flickr) C&C Welcome - Happy Easter!
  14. I present the 4115th Eslandolean Artillery Regiment under the command of Colonel Brickinson: These guys are tough - and hard to detect in their bright green uniforms. They are preparing to protect and defend Pontelli against all possible attackers. Colonel Brickinson is utterly determined! I wanted to show that the heavy guns have been moved across the grass but it doesn't come out so well on the pictures. The artillery battery has been fortified (with plans to build a stone defense in the near future). C&C Welcome.

    [ESL-FB5] Fields of Gold

Wheat Field: Saturday night, I feel the air is getting hot ... I'll start again: It is Saturday afternoon and Colonel Brickinson is paying an inspection visit to a Pontelli wheat plantation: He has come to meet with the supervisor of the field The golden field is in excellent shape ... and well-protected: Thanks for watching - and, btw. approvals from Sea Rats, Corrington and Oleon are very welcome (this being 5th free-build)
  16. .. after sighting Hurricane Helga.. Here you can see the "Stubborn Stern" turning around... No chance against the wrath of Poseidon. On the left you can see the saddened figure of Captain Braunsfeld (holding an ETWC flag). On the right: Victorious Poseidon. C&C Welcome.
  17. Bardo has a famous brass band: Bardo's Lonely Hearts Club Band must have been around for some twenty years now. .. but they are still guaranteed to raise a smile ... or two. Here you can see these guys performing for the Musician’s Talent Fair.
  18. Here is my third free-build for this month, so I kindly ask for approvals from Corrington, Oleon and the much-feared Sea Rats. Little Shop of Parrots I have shown some Pontelli houses before, but, of course, in Eslandola everything is about commerce! With the size of fleets constantly expanding, the growing number of captains is triggering an extremely high demand for parrots. Percy, the parrotmonger, is the first address in Pontelli if you are looking for a Norwegian Blue. You can easily find him: Main road 5, open from 9 - 6 every day, except for Sundays. C&C & approvals welcome!

    [ESL-FB2] Banana Boat

Daylight come and I wanna go home! Today I present to you: Captain Tallyman and his "Banana Boat". Well, the Banana Boat may not be the most beautiful ship that has ever sailed the fourteen seas and her figurehead (a banana ) is often mocked at in harbour inns - but Captain Tallyman simply laughs along. He knows that his yellow freight will be paid for with golden coins - and any observer will quickly notice that Tallyman is able to buy himself a quite impressive lantern! But he keeps a low profile and enjoys his life as the fastest banana trader of Eslandola. Guided by his able and cunning first mate Mr. Monkey, the "Banana Boat" is known in most ports. C&C welcome!
  20. Ladies & Gentlemen, tonight, I proudly present: Sir Archibald's Flying Lucilla - a modern airship. Powered by two steam motors the airship is traveling at incredible speed! Sir Archibald is accompanied by a brave crew: ... and the "Flying Lucilla" is well-armed: This airship is based on the Ninjago 70603 Zeppelin (which unfortunately does not come with 8 but only with 7 balloon pieces...) More and larger pics on flickr. C&C welcome! Captain Braunsfeld goes Steampunk: 1. New try at Steampunk Figbarf 2. [MOC] [steampunk] Sir Archibald's Mechanical Elephant 3. [MOC] [steampunk] Dr. Teslisons Airship 4. [MOC] [steampunk] Sir Archibald's Flying Lucilla 5. [MOC] [steampunk] Lady Lacelove's Armored Airship
  21. Here comes a dirigible that is slightly larger than the previous MOCs: Lady Lacelove's Armored Airship I took some basic inspiration from the "sea cow", which you can see in some parts. Here's the proud owner of this mighty airship: The ship is modular: The interior is as modern as it can be: .. and you can see parts of the overall machinery: I hope you like this MOC. More and larger pics can be found on flickr. C&C welcome! Captain Braunsfeld goes Steampunk: 1. New try at Steampunk Figbarf 2. [MOC] [steampunk] Sir Archibald's Mechanical Elephant 3. [ESL-CH2B] Battle of Nelissa

Category B: Strike your Colors Short version: Furious sea battle south of Nelissa.. ... victory for Eslandola! Long version: Captain Enrico Sombrero Verde gazed through his spyglass trying to penetrate the combination of morning mist and cannon smoke that lay between the battling two ships. They had been surprised by the attacker initially, but the long and hard training of the crew had paid off and they had quickly been able to fire back. The "Stubborn Stern" had sent several broadsides into the hull of the attacking ship and Enrico could tell that the enemy was not doing well anymore. "Under which flag are they sailing", the first officer yelled. "I think it is black", Enrico shouted back just before another broadside was fired. "Then they must be pirates", the first officer mumbled to himself. Captain Verde looked again. It was difficult to identify the enemy's flag as the sun had got up behind the other ship. "It could be blue", he pondered, which would mean Oleon. "It's a red flag", the first mate cried. "They are fighting for Corrington!" Astonished, the captain raised the telescope once more, when suddenly a giant explosion tore the enemy ship apart - and the shock wave blew Enrico from his feet. "We must have hit the powder magazine...", Enrico mused. When he got up to his feet the remains of the other ship were already sinking fast. So it was a victory - a clear victory for Eslandola. But against whom? Ahoy!

    [MOC] Working on BoBS

If you have ever wondered how it looks like, when I'm taking my pictures of my builds for BoBS: This is the room that I am currently sitting in as I am typing this. You can see one of the wonderful Pontelli houses and a fast and fine ship. (This is not meant to count as free-build, etc., don't worry.) Have a nice weekend.
  24. When I saw that Chima Elephant set coming out, it was immediately clear to me what I had to build out of it: "Sir Archibald's Wonderous Wandering Mechanical Steam Elephant" The Steam Elephant allows comfortable travel through all kinds of terrain. Additionally, it is well-armed. Inside the Elephant the modern traveller will find a luxurious sofa and a grammophone, accompanied with a great record collection. Larger (and more) pictures can be found on flickr. (And, yes, I have read Jules Verne. Many times.) :sweet: C&C welcome! Captain Braunsfeld goes Steampunk: 1. New try at Steampunk Figbarf 2. [MOC] [Steampunk] Dr. Teslisons Airship

Today I proudly present: "Dr. Teslisons Amazing Airship" This is the Doctor himself: His lovely wife Ada Teslison can be found at the airship's cannon: A glance at the machinery: The ship is modular - here's a view of Dr. Teslison's cabin: I have experimented with a blue background but in the end I preferred the black one. More pictures can be found on flickr. C&C welcome! Captain Braunsfeld goes Steampunk: 1. New try at Steampunk Figbarf 2. [MOC] [steampunk] Sir Archibald's Mechanical Elephant 3.
