When we saw our hero last time he was escaping from a pirate prison island on the back of a shark. Brickinson had the strange feeling that the shark was going deeper... "Hey, hey, don't do that, my friend - please don't dive!" .. the shark did not listen - it must have been a deaf shark ... Brickinson (humming to himself): "It's getting better all the time... couldn't get much worse..." Meanwhile back in Pontelli an important messenger arrives at the courthouse. "Your Honour - Let me introduce myself: I am Major Mystaek and I have come directly from Viceroy Renato Filamento. We have evidence that Colonel Brickinson has misappropriated Eslandolan military equipment and forces." Judge Enrico Fineman: "Now... what's that supposed to mean? Colonel Brickinson is a respected citizen of Pontelli!" Major Mistaek: "Just read this and you will find it necessary to launch court action!" Judge Enrico Fineman (reading, shocked): "Oh dear, oh dear. If that is true I will start the trial at once - even in the absence of the accused." Major Mistaek (smiling). Where was I with that strange story? Ah, right. The evil pirate Gisberth had captured Colonel Brickinson - who had turned out the be "The Black Moustache". Brickinson was imprisoned by the pirates, awaiting his fate. .... and now I need a lot of pictures to tell the story of "The Great Escape" ... Brickinson had found some strange drawing on the prison wall. About some way to move the bed he was lying on. It seemed like complete nonsense to him. While Brickinson was about to fall asleep in his prison cell... ... Gisberth was on the watch... When Brickinson awoke from his refreshing slumber, he found the pirates unconscious or missing... The key to the cells was lying on the floor and all the doors were open. It was all very strange. Brickinson rushed outside looking for the red boat but it was gone. Instead a rather large shark was mooring by the pier. The shark looked at Brickinson and Brickinson stared back. "This is madness" he thought, approaching the shark. The shark displayed no signs of hostility and so the absurd idea that had come up in Brickinson's mind manifested itself and called for action. So he boarded the shark. "Oh my goodness, no-one is ever going to believe this! I will have to tell everybody that I escaped by making a raft out of sea turtles!" "What a great escape!" [First Speaker] How was your trip? [second Speaker] Successful. [First Speaker] Good. Have you been spotted? [second Speaker] No-one who has seen me is still alive. [First Speaker] Do we know where Brickinson is heading? [second Speaker] We can only guess. ... but I have signed the contract ...
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Another lovely Saturday morning. Shots firing, sabers clinking, blood is splashing... Captain Cookie was beaten. He had lost his blade and his cookie, had stumbled backwards and was now leaning against a box of ammunition. His men were in terror or dead. Time seemed to stand still for a second. "Got you, Captain Cookie" the "Black Moustache" shouted. "Now you will pay for your sins!" "That ain't workin', mate" Captain Cookie replied, producing a scroll. "Well, what is that about?" the Black Moustache inquired. "Listen, mate, you come here uninvited but victorious and all that. Pretty cool stuff, I must admit, but I have signed the contract, dude!" "Let me see." The Black Moustache took the scroll and read through it carefully, quietly murmuring under his breath. ... hereby I swear by the gods and my mother's beard .... not to attack banana carrying ships ... bla bla bla .... ... not to interfere in any action or undertaking that involveth monkeys .... la de da .... pay upfront reparation sum of five hundred gold ... ... and to clean up my cabin every Friday... ... signed Captain Cookie The scene had all fallen silent by the time the Black Moustache came to the end of the scroll. Everyone was staring at him. The Black Moustache seemed to turn red under his moustache. "Well, then... you have already signed the contract, Sir... err... ....sorry for the inconvenience. We'll be going in a minute then... no hard feelings.... have a nice day." He called his men and turned to leave. Captain Cookie, gathering the remains of his crew, heaved a sigh of relief. He had survived unlike many of his fellow pirates. It had been a good idea to listen to that fortune teller he had met after the ball in Pontelli. There was a certain confusion within the troops of the EWTC. Some officers asked themselves: "Has Colonel Brickinson gone mad?" But they would ask this in solitude, not when he was around. When Colonel Brickinson left the outpost after the inspection he looked stern but satisfied. The outpost had now been equipped with a decent long range cannon. It all looked well, except for the new flag: What must he have been thinking? Brickinson was quite determined about the new flag. [second speaker] It has begun. [First speaker] Good. Send out ravens to our friends and prepare steps two and three. [second speaker] It will be done. Some shots of the outpost without the Colonel: Actually the MOC looked different, possibly better before I added all those transparent pieces to create the waves. The plain baseplate made everything look simpler - and more classic. Let me know what you think. C&C welcome. (Larger pictures and also a view of the modular structure of that tower on flickr.) The story so far: Brickinson's trial had revealed that Major Mistaek was the evil pirate Gisberth in disguise. And the evil pirates had kidnapped the judge's daughter, Luisa. But where is Luisa now? And now: Luckily, a map was found on the body of Gisberth that disclosed the location of a secret pirate hideout not too far away from Pontelli - a place called Rockerly Cast. Everyone assumed that Luisa would be found there. Quickly a rescue party was assembled to free the hostage - led by the fearless Major Boothroyd - and accompanied by the Mayor of Pontelli & George and Brickinson's female first mate. "Look, Major", the first mate whispered. "A secret cave!" Slowly she sneaked into the cave. ("Constant vigilance" she thought to herself) Inside the cave, the pirates were immersed in their game of darts. When the rescue party stormed the cave the villains surrendered immediately. But it was then when the real trouble began: There were three hostages, not one. Da Pontelli moved forward, waving the portrait of Luisa. Two of the captives were found to be kidnapped princesses (unbelievable, considering the attire), but number three turned out to be Luisa. Hooray! Major Boothroyd and his men took the pirates to the gallows. And where is Brickinson? [second Speaker] Trouble at the mill, Sir. [First Speaker] That makes me think of something. Get the Oleon Inquisition started. Here is the Simian-Plan storyline: 1 MRCA Result April & May: Sunk and Taken by Pirates 2 Has Brickinson gone mad? 3 The End of a Pirate 4 Visiting a Pirate Island 5 A Dream Within A Dream 6 Pirate Hunter King Archibald 7 Woe is me! 8 The Black Moustache and his Green Flying Dutchman 9 ... but I have signed the contract .... 10 Now, what have we got here ... 11 The Great Escape 12 Please don't dive .... 13 The Brickinson Case 14 Island in the Sun I tried this tile-approach for the waves and find it aesthetically pleasing, especially on the last picture. That means you will see it over and over again in the upcoming MOCs... C&C Welcome - have a nice weekend!

[Voiceover] August 616. Having run into a trap set up by the evil pirate Gisberth the "Black Moustache" has to surrender: Gisberth: Now, what have we got here ... the infamous Black Moustache. Let us see who is the man behind that false beard! Gisberth: As I would have guessed - Colonel Brickinson of Eslandola. Gisberth: So we found out what you did. And you will surely tell us why you did it. In the meantime, until we hear your tale, we have a nice place where you can stay. And you can leave your hat on. And so Colonel Brickinson was imprisoned by Gisberth and his men with no hope to escape. The story of the Black Moustache seems to have come to a sudden ending... Gisberth: Muwahahaha! His evil crew: Muwahahaha! [second Speaker] Brickinson has been captured by the evil pirate Gisberth! [First Speaker] We must take action at once. Get in touch with our new friends. [second Speaker] I will. [First Speaker] And it may be time for you to set out on a journey. No time to lose. The Black Moustache and his Green Flying Dutchman
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The "New Pirate on the Block" called the Black Moustache was sailing a fast and fine vessel: .. called the "Green Flying Dutchman" And though it seemed to be a pirate ship, stories of "accidents" that happend to fellow buccaneers kept circling. There was some strange secret about the real identity of the "Black Moustache". His crew and his fighting and sailing abilities were impeccable, to say the least. [First Speaker] Have the contracts been signed? [second Speaker] Not all of them yet, but many. [First Speaker] Good. Banana? [second Speaker] Yes, please. Everything seemed fine and peaceful on (another) pirate island - the White Fortress: But the villain-in-chief Rackham Redbeard III. was worried.... Life had become difficult. Many of his friends and foes (or business competitors) had died due to terrible accidents. Eslandola had sent out more pirate hunting ships. And even the sharks had become more aggressive during the past months. So, Rackham Redbeard III. was worried. Rightfully so. The Black Moustache (to himself): ok the fuse is lit, let's get out of here. .. this is the end ... hold your breath and count to ten ... KaBlam! All in a day's work for The Black Moustache! [second Speaker] The White Fortress is history. No survivors. [First Speaker] Excellent! Our plans are working out fine. [Reader] Ah, they are talking about the Seldon-Plan. [second Speaker] Phhhh. The S-Plan is not the Seldon Plan. What were you thinking? [First Speaker] This is reality not Isaac Asimov fiction. The S-Plan is the Simian Plan. It is about ruling the world while looking cute. [Reader] I thought that was what top models were trying to achieve... [First and Second Speaker] Ha ha ha. [Reader] But this is fiction .... [First Speaker] If this was fiction how could it be that we are inside your head? [Reader] What? How did you get into my head? [second Speaker] He ... [First Speaker] he he .... [ESL-FB] Pirate Hunter King Archibald
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The East Wind Trading Company has invested money and effort to build and equip a pirate hunting ship: The King Archibald. Captain John Maynard is quite proud of his ship and his crew. I will license this as an Armed Sloop - Class 2 A. And Colonel Brickinson wants the ship to be dedicated to fight the pirate threat. So (as I am not very apt at the MRCA details) I will hand this ship to any Eslandolean volunteer to handle it in the MRCA. Actually, I have to admit that this is not my ship design. I have tried to build my version of the great ship created by -DoNe- It looks great, but it is also very fragile...- 13 replies

[ESL] Challenge IV - CAT B - Defense of the Great Golden Fleet
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
The frigates that protected the Great Golden Fleet were enganged in fierce battle against pirates! But it soon turned out that the pirates were no match against the well-trained Eslandolean sailors. The long months of exercise had paid off - and the "Heart of Eslandola" and the "Another Spirit of Eslandola" were able to fire their broadsides much faster than the despicable villains (who actually only managed single fire). Both Eslandolean frigates concentrated their fire on the "How shall I name this?" (Christianing of pirate vessels is often an embarrassing affair..) The "How shall I name this?" lost her top mast and caught fire. Within minutes she was sunk. The other pirate ("What am I supposed to say after I have thrown the bottle?") - having also taken severe hits - turned and fled. The Great Golden Fleet was saved! A detail shot of the "How shall I name this?" And here is the victorious "Heart of Eslandola" - firing: C&C welcome -
Hello, I have built a small outpost and played around with "how to do the water" for some time. So, here I present the version with a "clean" baseplate: So, in a way, the studs are the waves. The musketeer seems to be on an urgent mission... C&C welcome!

Last night Queen Beatrice of Oleon had a series of strange dreams: Her first dream took her to the Kingdom of Corrington ... Queen Annetta was addressed by a strange ambassador ... .. unfortunately the conversation took place in Corringtonish. Startled by this strange dreamy vision, Queen Beatrice turned in her bed and fell into a second dream: She found herself in Eslandola, in King Fernando-Augusto VII's study. ... everything seemed normal, but something was different... Yet she could not quite point her finger at it. (Well, you hardly point when you are asleep...) Again she turned in her sleep - and entered the third dream: This was Oleon. The South Gate of the Palace. There were Philip I and the Lord Chancellor - and she saw the strange ambassador again. Suddenly she was awake, in her bed, realising that it was already late in the morning. "Thank to the Gods", she sighed, "it was only a dream." She rose to enter the gardens. Just like in her dream she found her husband and the Lord Chancellor at the South Gate. "Philip", she called out, "I had the most strangest dreams." Philip I and the Lord Chancellor turned towards her. "Tell me, my Dear", said Philip. "We were just talking about the Brick Seas Purge of 616." C&C Welcome

Old Redbeard McDuff was sceptical: This mysterious new pirate who named himself "The Black Moustache" was visiting him, even offering to bring presents. Yet, still, when he saw Moustache's crew unloading a golden treasure chest he was determined not to trust the new pirate on the block. There was something strange about the crew but he could not put a finger on it. They sure looked like pirates. And they said they wanted to bring a treasure in exchange for information. That is why they came to White Skull Island. "Arrr. Hi there" said the Black Moustache. "We brought you something, Redbeard McDuff" "... first of all I'll give you this well-trained parrot." "Polly", the parrot exclaimed. "Jolly good", McDuff replied, thinking: And now I will hand you this cup of poisoned wine... Then things happened quite quickly. Ugly things, rather not shown here... (if you don't like scenes of violence please stop reading here.) The Black Moustache's gang fought in perfect unity, almost as if they were elite troops in disguise. "... and I thought it was my trap..." was the last thing that went through McDuff's mind. When the Black Moustache left the island, there was no-one left alive. [second Speaker] White skull island has been taken. [First Speaker] Good. Any casualties? [second Speaker] Not on our side. But I fear that rumours will start to spread. The operation was not as clean as the "Three skull trap". [First Speaker] Rumours are intended to spread! But wait, let us make the next operation look more like an accident again. The story is getting darker and my family has protested and complained about the pictures... So, most of the pictures are not here but in the corresponding album on flickr. C&C welcome!

... one two three four I just plain adore your ballroom dancing... It's time to play the music it's time to light the lights It is dancing time again in Pontelli. All the celebreties have gathered at this occasion. Colonel Brickinson was there too - in his usual good mood... Gangwolf Movaldi is playing the piano (he's presenting his latest hit: "Regina Danzante"). Alberto da Pontelli and his wife are happily joining the dance. .. while some more exhausted dancers are taking a break... A careful observer might catch the sight of Captain Cookie - but wait, isn't he a pirate? The ladies won't mind as he is a good dancer. I tried to include a spectator from the latest minifig series but he/it is not easy to see. Maybe you'll manage. C&C welcome - more and larger pictures on flickr.

News and excitement hath struck Pontelli! Members of the Royal Society have rushed to see the great discovery: While digging in the back of his garden, Alberto da Pontelli has actually found the complete skeleton of a unicorn! History of nature needs to be rewritten! All the Royal Society members are so excited! But wait, George da Pontelli is nowhere to be seen. Could this possibly be a prank set up by the clever monkey? I owe the house's design to Marcu22. The first version was built as a "counter attack" in the Kaliphlin Civil War - and I liked the design a lot, so I modified the MOC into a smaller version and added a bit of an interior. Then many months have come and gone. The build stayed in its box. And now I am happy to present the house to you (before I need to take it apart...) C&C welcome!

MRCA Result April & May: Sunk and Taken by Pirates
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
April: "took too much water ... sank" What a blow for the EWTC. Colonel Brickinson was devastated. May: "Taken by the Dread Pirate LaColeon" Once again the EWTC is shocked: The Banana Boat is lost! And that pirate LaColeon was not alone - he was seemingly strongly supported by the infamous cunning Captain Cookie : Let us leave this sad scene, while Colonel Brickinson gently weeps , and follow a strange secret dialogue taking place shortly after these events: [First speaker] The pirate threat must be stopped. Our losses are inacceptable. The future of the Second Foundation is at stake. [second speaker] Should we continue to follow the S-Plan? [First speaker] The S-Plan will be carried out nevertheless. Yet all our control of Corrington, Oleon and Eslandola has proven to be insufficient. We need to take action against the pirates. [second speaker] It will be done. Through Colonel Brickinson. [First speaker] Good. Banana? [second speaker] Yes, thank you. (to be continued) C&C welcome- 6 replies

[ESL-FB1] Visiting Elysabethtown and Hawksbrugh
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
Following his induction into the Royal Society of Natural Philosophy, Alberto Antonio da Pontelli was invited to present and demonstrate his findings in Elysabethtown. So he jumped on board the next ship and arrived a few days later to be greeted according to his position as Mayor of Pontelli: Alberto was accompanied by his wife, who brought the cat, George da Pontelli and Colonel Brickinson. He was received by Elysabeth of Dondril. A few days later, Alberto traveled on to meet with Hawksbrugh in Port Raleigh: They met in the famous tavern "Three Cannon Balls". Alberto was once again joined by George da Pontelli (or was it the other way round?). Innkeeper Burbutter's beer is said to be of highest quality. [ESL-FB1] Please don't take it apart
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
"Please don't take it apart, it is so well playable", was what my wife said when I announced that I would like to significantly modify this fortress: So I added a few Eslandolean touches to a build that I'm showing here for the first time (but it has been played with a number of times). Then an Admiral appeared, inspecting his soldiers... ... and some guy met up with another strange guy... And you can see on the sides that this was actually meant to be part of a larger layout. My problem is that I don't do those raised baseplates anymore ... and sand is now "tan" for me not "yellow". But as I have said, I cannot take it apart... As this is a modular build I can actually take it apart! And there you have it: An Eslandolean Fortress on Nelissa! C&C Welcome! More and larger pics can be found on flickr.- 21 replies

In Pontelli's Baker Street, Enrico Quickwin is selling high-priced paintings and maps (mostly to gullible tourists). But these paintings aren't unique by any means. They are created by highly-skilled painters in an industrialized way in Pontelli's (secret) art factory. Their output is about 20 paintings/maps per day. Fresh paint and canvas are being delivered every hour. And in the evening Enrico Quickwin is generous in buying rounds of banana shakes. The rare cases of artistic fabrication failure exceptions (AFFE) are collected and shipped to Corrington at give-away-prices (like "Whistler's Father", "Loony Misa", "Golden Earring with Girl", "Darky Night" and others). I had to leave out the roof to allow a decent interior-view. C&C welcome.

[ESL-FB4] Paolo, the Puppet Player of Pontelli
Captain Braunsfeld posted a topic in Brethren of the Brick Seas
A favourite for all the children and for the grown-ups who managed to stay young inside: Paolo, the phenomenal puppet player of Pontelli! Paolo's tales of heroes, knights and villains are loved throughout the city... ... and his hat is usually well filled with coins. Paolo currently stages the story of a long forgotten civil war, including a mummy king coming from the desert. Wild! (And Alberto da Pontelli is a fan too) It was high time to add some "Art and Culture" to Pontelli! C&C Welcome- 15 replies
