  1. Can't wait for the kiwk-e-mart!
  2. Hello everyone. Here is my third and final entry for the Revenge of the Sith Community Build: Plo Koon's Jedi Starfighter. My previous entries can be found here and here. About a month ago, Jason C. Hand posted this: his own updated version of seniorgronk's Delta-7 Aethersprite-class Interceptor, commonly known as the 'Jedi Starfighter'. Seeing that inspired me to have a go myself, and here is the result... I started with the stock JSF model that was seen piloted by Obi-Wan Kenobi in Attack of the Clones, and then modded it to make the version seen being used by Plo Koon in Revenge of the Sith. Unfortunately, and very sadly, the Jedi Master was shot down while flying this ship by his comrade Captain Jag, when Chancellor Palpatine commanded the execution of Order 66. I have, of course, made a few mods and recolours to the ship which I will post shortly, so stay tuned! LXF File (warning - due to some possible dodgy techniques according to LDD, the file is subject to slow performance and crashes) Please do not re-use the file or images without my permission. Thank you for looking. All comments are welcome.

    AT-DP 75083

Stop Motion Build of AT-DP 75083
  4. boomblocks

    Hello from Canton, GA

Hey guys! My name is Jordan and i'd like to share a project of mine, which uses stop motion animation to show the assembly process of a set as well as the eventual slow motion destruction of the set! I am a collector, however bought these sets strictly to combine my favorite things- stop motion, slow motion, explosions, and legos! I'll be using a phantom super slow mo camera featuring lots of different elements. Each video will showcase a short skit or character animation as well. The larger sets will be broken up into two videos (one of the build and one for the destruction), while the micro destructions will feature all parts in a oneshot video. Feedback always helps so let me know what you guys think!
  5. I was just browsing the forum at Brickset, and it is reported that Lego is going to discontinue the monthly mini-build after December. It is disappointing, but I can understand some of the reasons why. I took my kids to their first one over the summer. It was packed, and that is where I learned you have to get there early to get your place in line. The Lego Store in Dallas has it arranged where you wait in line outside the store (it is in a mall). They would pass out cards for the kids who were there and then at 5pm direct kids to the tables to build their model. After a couple of times, they finally gave people the option of either building it at a table outside the store or taking it home. They also made sure the kids were actually present before issuing a card. Apparently, some people were abusing this and making up imaginary kids for the models. My kids enjoyed building the models, but it was not fun waiting that long with them, especially when the 7 year old has hyperactive attention deficit disorder. He would bother every living thing around him for that hour to hour and a half wait. Actually, I think forcing everyone to wait in line kind of hurt store sales a little bit. As the only parent with two kids in line, I myself wanted to go into the store while we were waiting, because (a) it was not busy inside, and (b) I am an AFOL who would likely purchase something. Going into the store would mean losing our place in line, because if I went in, then we would all have to go in. Therefore, I had to wait until we did the minibuild to go inside and maybe buy an item or two. By then, I was rushed, because it was dinner time for the kids. Certainly that and a more crowded store was not great for making a PAB cup. Even on a school night, the store easily gave out all of its supplies. The line extended back several stores and sometimes beyond. It will be disappointing to end this short lived monthly tradition with the kids, but again, I get it. It was not really profitable for Lego to give away free bricks and inadvertantly discourage people from going into the store. What are your thoughts?

  8. MINI BUILD I promised we would do more contests this year, so I'm sorry for the delay, but here it is.....a new contest. DESCRIPTION Build a LEGO Technic model with a maximum of 200 LEGO parts! Imagine your set being sold as an official LEGO set. DEADLINE Contest closes on August 1st, 2014. CONTEST SPECIFIC RULES AND REGULATIONS Maximum of 200 parts. 199 or less is okay, 200 is okay, 201 is NOT okay. Chain links and tracks DO count toward the part limit. Every part counts (mini turntable is two parts, just like in a real set) NO Electronics (PF, Mindstorms, etc) are allowed. Only official LEGO parts. No chrome unless it's official LEGO (see previous rule) Ropes/Strings, rubber bands and pneumatic tubing need to be official LEGO parts. Set must have at least one, preferably more, functions. Aesthetics do count. NO Model Team. Imagine your set being sold as an official LEGO set (also see previous two rules). GENERAL RULES AND RESTRICTIONS The contest is open to all EB members (also new members). Voting is only allowed for existing members (which means member date before start date of contest) If there's a tie my vote and Blakbird's will count twice. If there's still a tie, Staff members will decide who wins. One entry per member. Entries need to be new (never posted anywhere previously). Only physical builds, so no LDD or other virtual entry. If you have any doubts about the suitability of your entry contact me. All entries are to include only real LEGO. No clone brands, 3rd party parts, or digital entries allowed. Decals (stickers) will be allowed if you've made them yourself, but no cutting, sculpting or modifying parts. Entries are to be placed in the entry topic in this forum. Entries not in the entry topic are not eligible for voting. The entry post may be edited at any time up to the end of the contest, so feel free to make improvements if you wish. We reserve the right to disqualify any entry that does not follow these rules. These rules can be changed whenever we see fit to ensure that people follow the intent of the contest. Staff members are not eligible for winning prizes. WHAT DO I NEED TO ENTER? All participant need to create a WIP topic for discussion purposes and create a post in the entry topic. WIP TOPIC A WIP topic beginning with [MINI]. ENTRY POST The entry post (in the soon to be created entry topic) should contain: Entry name Part count Short summary of the functions. Promotional image (this one should kick megablocks!) Parts image (a picture of all the parts used, spread out on a surface) The part image needs to show all the parts used in the model. I need a picture showing all the separate parts! That way we can clearly see which, and how many, parts have been used. The promotional image needs to be clear and crisp image, which really shows the model in it's best way. Think of it as the image on the box. Building a great MOC is one thing, but a decent presentation really helps you to get more votes. PRIZES The prize winners may choose between selected prizes. 1st PRIZE The winner can choose between 42006, 42023, 42024 and 42028 (if available). (or choose a smaller set of choice) 2nd PRIZE The runner-up can choose between 42007 and 42022. (or choose a smaller set of choice) 3rd PRIZE The bronze medalist can choose between 42026, 42027 and 42012. (or choose another set with a maximum of 25 euro) Special thanks to TLG's Community Support Team for providing these awesome prizes!

  13. Some people call Alvin a wizard. Some call him an alchemist. Some whisper about him being a magician or a warlock. Almost everyone agrees that he’s slightly insane. What Alvin considers himself to be is something much nobler, however. “A Man of Science” is his self-applied title: a great experimenter, a brilliant scholar, a modern incarnation of Plato, Socrates, Archimedes and all the rest. Although, in his day and age, a successful “scientist” is usually someone who’s either very lucky, or has experienced a lot of “trial and error”. Whatever he is, Alvin is certainly not a very safe person to be around. His wild experimenting can often be very dangerous for a casual bystander. After he almost burned an entire village to the ground, the king decided it would be safer for everybody if Alvin was kept somewhere a little more “secluded”. Naturally a dark, empty room in the basement of the royal castle would be the perfect place to hide away an annoying wizard; the thick stone walls and ceiling should be strong enough to protect the rest of the world from the wild antics of the mad pseudoscientist…right? ****** Alvin scuffled back and forth between shelves stocked with wizardish appliances, hastily gathering the necessary ingredients for his latest concoction. According to his precise calculations—and some wild guessing—Alvin determined that the elixir for eternal life was within his grasp! Hustling franticly about the room, the old wizard snatched up a few final items, and then hurried to the center of the room, where a large cauldron was brewing. Alvin added ingredients one at a time, lifting the lid carefully with each thing he slipped into the cauldron. The great pot sizzled and bubbled, and a pungently foul odor spread about the room. ****** Smiling as he greeted his dinner guests, the king gestured for all present to have a seat. The tall, ornate wooden chairs squeaked slightly as the lords and ladies dropped into them. The king explained that dinner was still being prepared, but that the guests should all have a drink; his best wine was being served. As the guests took up conversations with one another and lifted their goblets for a toast, a slight rumbling shook the room. ****** The lid on the cauldron was shaking wildly now as Alvin slipped the last item into the huge pot. He stepped back carefully, as a huge grin spread across his silly face. His thoughts racing, he imagined the great power he would have with this mighty elixir. Suddenly, a loud pop sounded from within the cauldron. Without warning, the heavy metal lid was blown violently into the air, knocking Alvin roughly backward and causing the pot’s contents to spill out over the side. The lid continued its upward course until reaching the brick ceiling, which it subsequently blasted through. ****** The king let a counterfeit smile spread across his features as he raised his glass for another toast. Seriously, he grumbled to himself, this is the most boring dinner party I’ve ever been at! He touched the goblet to his lips, but before he could swallow any of the wine he was suddenly hit with an enormous wave of intense heat! The goblet fell from his grasp when suddenly a heavy iron pot-lid exploded through the table in front of him. It was followed by a ball of flame and a long line of smoke, leading back through the floor into the chambers of…the king closed his eyes and fervently wished to be someplace else. ______________________________ Here’s my second and last entry to the CCCXI! Category: Trial and Error. This was really a blast to build, haha. Thanks to my Dad for scientific advice and general encouragement. Happy new year everybody! :) Soli Deo Gloria!
  14. I experimented with some new techniques in this build: the water, the snow, and the trees. The water and trees original designs are by Buurli_Burri and Brother Steven. The snow design is new as far as I know, basically you use white tiles set on top of dark bley slopes. To keep the tiles from falling off you build around them a bit with other slopes/bricks etc. The pictures should show what I mean. A Mitgardian Clansmen goes spear fishing in the snowy Clanlands. Any C&C appreciated
  15. I wanted to share a project that I'm doing which I think will be interesting to the members of this community. I've recently purchased the Lego Architecture Studio set, and I created a personal challenge to build 30 models with the bricks from this set in 30 days. Each day, I create a new building challenge to try and build, and I've already completed 9 models so I'm almost 1/3 of the way done! I hope that others will take the challenge, either by doing the same 30 challenges I've done, or expanding the idea with new challenges to try. Learn more about the project: http://tomalphin.com...-challenge.html Please take a look and let me know what you think! I'm especially interested to hear if others have taken on similar personal challenges, or if you have idea of other challenges I should try... Sincerely, ---tom Gallery of a few of the projects I've built so far: Lego Challenge #8: Make a model of a piece of furniture Lego Challenge #5: Build a model based on an architectural style Lego Challenge #2: Build a microscale home, then a bigger model with more details. Forngord Castle

My last free build for chapter 1 of Historica. My little brother helped me a bit with this, and it is our largest build (footprint wise anyway ) yet. There is a full interior to the castle, and quite a few of the doors/trapdoors work. Joktan, Jayan, Erastus, Dedan, and Kenan, along with the Hradcanny dwarves are attacking Forngord Castle. The castle, located in southern Mitgardia, has been long abandoned, but recently the Hand of Corruption has taken residence there: Quite a few more pics here: link I think this is either my favorite or second favorite build, tied with my Fortress of Cameria build. Any C&C appreciated, the first chapter of GoH has been awesome and here's to an even better second chapter!
  17. Hello everyone! A week ago I put together a time lapse video of my build of the new Red Five W-Wing set. It's a fantastic kit that I had a blast assembling. It's also an absolute beast when compared to my original 1999 7140 X-Wing kit, which now looks downright cute next to the new Red Five kit. Cheers! Jim
